William Stratford is more than my professor.

He’s my one-night stand. My secret. And my enemy.

I have a plan for fighting him, along with the secret society that threatens the college. Despite his knowledge and his power, despite the sensual thrall he holds over me, when the bell rings, he’s the one who’s going to learn a lesson.

At least that’s the plan.

But Professor Stratford is older and wiser.

He makes the rules, and I’m forced to follow them.

THE STUDENT is book two in the forbidden romance trilogy Tanglewood University. It’s a tale of redemption and comeuppance for a professor walking the line of right and wrong–and the student who will push him over the brink.

* 4⭐️4🌶️
* “It was supposed to be one night with a handsome stranger. I never thought I would see him again. Until the first day of class.”
* The second book in the trilogy of Tanglewood University and this book was WILD. Check trigger warnings. It had a scene that was really hard to read. The sexism and ageism and lack of feminism is astounding. It ends on a huge cliffhanger. But that’s okay because I plan to read it ASAP.
* Read if you like: dark academia, Shakespeare, professor/ ex boyfriend’s dad X student, mystery element, spicy desk scenes, age gap, secret society

Complete and utter trash. Not even gonna mince words. This was just bottom of the barrel. I have a headache from reading this book(not kidding).
Seriously, what was the point of this book/story? Why did I even finish this book(obviously I’m a masochist but in my defense I kept lying to myself that it would get better while it kept on getting worse 🤡)
All I wanted was a student/professor romance but instead got a not so secret secret society, a pick me heroine, a simp hero, a plotless/directionless story and god awful writing 😭
And the audacity to end the book with that ridiculous cliffhanger 🤦🏾‍♀️
I’m not kidding when I say, I lost all my brains cells reading this book.

After reading The Professor, I knew that I needed to finish the rest of this story. We were clouded with secrets, mystery, and the alluring forbidden aspect of wanting something you know you can't have.

Picking up from where they left off in the Professor, Anne and William are now facing their new normal. Determined to move on and focus on school, Anne throws herself into her work and welcomes the much needed distraction. But there's a lot of unfinished business between her and the Professor and she'll soon learn that you can run but you definitely can't hide.

I was expecting a lot more with this story if I’m being honest. Almost everything felt rushed and there was no real connection or time spent with the main characters. I almost felt like I was reading a different book at certain times and I needed the answers to a lot of the obvious questions and that never happened.

giphy-34

I was also under the impression that this was going to be a duet but I guess the author has different plans. I really hope that the final book will give us more clarity, justice, and have that spark that made us fall in love with the first book. These characters have the potential to do so much more but only time will tell.

Back to Tanglewood University we go.

I'm a bit conflicted about this one. The chemistry between William and Anne is explosive, and I found myself physically unable to stop reading because I just had to know what would happen next. That said, I feel like this book focused way more on that chemistry and less on the overall story. I needed a deeper dive into the society and what they're doing/why they need to be stopped.

Beyond that, I'm a little sad to have to wait for the continuation of this story. The suspense, the tension, the sex. I absolutely love it and just can't wait for more!

Liked this better than the first one! Professor Stratford is a snack! Yes mostly smut scenes but Professor Stratford 🥵!

The Student works better perhaps because we don’t have two competing storylines. In the first book, Annie Hall’s family, the appearance of Professor William Stratford, AND a secret Shakespeare society that may be up to no good starting back up again was a lot to take in.

Really glad William’s abrupt about-face was explained.

And I see what the author is trying to do but as a feminist, it could have been done better. Too on the nose and if I were to critique it, something about it feels pick me and lowkey misogynistic. Not that a woman can’t be a villain but that the ambitious woman is, the woman who knows her worth, is confident, and wants to get ahead. Yes we have an example of a nice woman professor too, but she just seemed safe and Pollyanna, like every woman who is on the level will not be a complex woman with layers too.

It is much more frustrating to be in a women-centred community with a woman who is a pick me. She takes up resources that could otherwise be more wisely used, and she centres men at the end of the day.

Annie Hall was a lil pick me in this book, and I’m sorry to say it but just because you enjoy it doesn’t make it better 🤣🤣 The main feminist message was: some women do not care about liberation, they just want power. But for this message to hold intellectual weight, I want Annie’s relationship with William examined. Not ripped to shreds but come on. She is in an age-gap with someone who was her professor, is now a mentor, has been a person with power over her future career prospects ever since they met.

It’s just picking hairs: this woman is bad to sleep to get ahead. It’s different because I am sleeping with someone of power but I’m not using him to get ahead. Girl he purposely chose to be your mentor!

Especially when everything was spelled out. In a way, it was odd Annie was so angry with the woman when she only felt terror, mystery, determination against the patriarchal Shakespeare society. Sure, she’s angry and wants them taken down but she never has the moral outrage that she does against this woman who is a cog in the machine. Granted, a cog with agency who chooses to pull the ladder above her, but simply a cog.

Annie doesn’t have to change how she feels but for someone so smart, picking up on subtext, I wish she was given a crumb of self-awareness to acknowledge the disparity of her emotions.

Just be consistent and honest. Otherwise, becomes as empty as Kathy Perry’s Woman’s World song 🤷🏻‍♀️

One other thing is, glad there weren’t too many professor is now lecturing scenes in this one. It wasn’t hitting in the first book 😅

Anyways Stratford is fine and his dirty talk is doing things 🙆🏻‍♀️❤️

So, this happened … LMAO, damn Skye! Just damn.

I didn’t say much of anything in my review of The Professor because there’s never anything to actually say about the beginning of a story plot wise. I’m still not going to tell you anything about this plot because, reasons, but I want you to know that this story and all its parts have a pulse. That’s the highest of praise from this reader because if I feel the happening of a story down to my soul, you’ve won me over completely! Skye has proven she is a master at this which is why I always ”let go of the wheel” when it comes to her books and just go with whatever her brain concocts LOL She is a trip and a half people and sometimes I worry about her, but mostly I absolutely love her brain!

Sidenote: I cannot tell you how much I enjoy the fact that we’re in Tanglewood because, tangle doesn’t even begin to describe what is happening all up in this University! (okay, I’m a 10-year-old who is snickering at the word play lol) But I digress …

So I’m gonna tell you a few things now. Everything about this story gets edgier and more tangled than it already was. Everything. The relationship (if one can call it that at this point) between Anne and William gets (I don’t have an exact word because one minute they’re good and the next maybe not), but at the same time, I’m not even sure how any of it is actually happening. The attraction of it all alludes me right now and I think that’s on purpose. There is a lot of push/pull happening thru the entire story and I’m just clueless and how Skye plans to bring this all together in the third book, The Final Exam, which apparently doesn’t release for almost a YEAR. Girl, you are killing me! The whole ”Society” plot-point is chaos to me right now, so I hesitate in talking about any of it in this review. The shenanigans have shenanigans is about all I’m gonna say on the subject. *eyes wide*

I’m really happy with what Skye has accomplished in these two books but I can’t lie and say I’m not majorly disappointed there’s almost a year gap between now and the final book. It didn’t exactly endear me to the story because I’m gonna have to probably reread the entire ”whiskey tango foxtrotery” all over again to have proper perspective next year, but I was still glued. This installment carries a lot of growth with it and that’s what hooked me to none-stop reading. *sigh* It’s just too long to wait for a final act in my opinion. *shrug*

Welcome back to this academic setting full of secrets, controlled by a secret society disguised as Shakespeare’s acolytes. The author takes us on a new journey embedded with Shakespearean vibes, forbidden encounters, eclectic mystery, alluring touches, enter a world that is as seductive as dangerous. Leave your… at the door.

Book 2 takes off where the first instalment ends. We’re back to Tanglewood University, the Shakespeare Society is as ruthless as ever. Our brave heroine Anne, has to face new challenges old and new enemies.

I love Anne’s determination and beautiful mind, her willingness to succeed and to fight a patriarchal system are astounding, I admire her dedication to a cause that still sees women as an add on to a world dominated by men. Anne refuses to let lack of a wealthy upbringing and money stop her.

Unfortunately more power people are leading the game, she finds an alley in Professor Stratford, however he has his own battle to fight and protecting his “dear heart” isn’t always easy.

The illicit affair between student and professor takes on a new dimension, two brilliant minds who can’t stop indulging in their needs and the communion of two souls. As their bond takes on a new shape its evolution resembles more and more a tragedy. When does poetry stops being a tune to feelings and becomes a tune to doom?

I was plunged into this academic background and enjoyed every line of this thrilling story, Ms Warren enriches the student teacher trope with literacy finesse.

I spent a lot of this book feeling like we were just going in circles around the circles we made in the first book. But I honestly had no idea that this would be a trilogy & not just a duet. So imagine my level of shock when the last sentence played on the audiobook. My jaw quite literally hit the floor 😱

It seemed like Anne just keeps getting more naive & gullible while William takes advantage of it / Anne. Despite that, I couldn’t stop listening because I needed to know what happens next. Overall, I really enjoy the mystery and intrigue of the secret society & I’m interested to see where the final installment goes!

Thank you to Skye Warren, Lyric Audiobooks, & Must Love Audio for sending me an early copy!

Skye, are we gonna have to have a conversation about your endings!!! I cannot BELIEVE what you have done! And now we have to wait! 😭

A wonderful continuation of the Tanglewood University series. William and Anne have taken over my life and I can't wait to see where these two are headed! (BECAUSE... WELL, you know what you did on that ending!!)

This book dives deeper into our secret society and I thoroughly enjoyed every little bit of information we have gotten about them.

I can't wait for the next one! (It'll be out next week, right?)

When fiction mirror reality.

Very good. It's that good, I almost think Student can be read without the Professor. That is if you don't mind missing out Anne and William steamy first meet that is. Or what happened to Daisy. Or Anne and William steamy foreplay with Shakespeare, that is... Lol let's not get crazy 🤣

But seriously, it's rare for me to read a second book in a trilogy and don't need to read the first book to remind me what happened before starting the second one.
Anne and William chemistry is steamy as before. Their taboo professor a student relationship is getting stronger. The stakes are higher. And the Shakespeare society aka "Israel" is escalating in their crime.

When fiction mirror reality...
How the society "Israel" think they have power not just in the university, but also in the city just because they have money with powerful people backing it creation. Ring any zarens, bell?

How gRape in the society "Israel" become the norm. The zarens in it don't even blink witnessing and participating in gRape, cause apparently it's their human rights to grape their victim. Ring any rapist society, bell, "Israelis"?

How the Tanglewood Tea publish false news to cover up the society "Israel" with no care about the victims. Sounds like the western media, doesn't it when it comes to "Israel" cover up. Ring ang god damn beheaded babies false headlines, bells?
And i lough so hard when the author mention the New York Times like the NYT is the epitome of true journalism! 🤣
I bet you don't see the FACTS of Palestinians beheaded babies by the most immoral cowards army of "Israel" on NYT headlines, don't you?!

New York Times?! Puhlease!!!

It's funny how fiction can mirror reality, isn't. How society "Israel" will go down in history as the society created to break any law even when their crimes are well known and the victims are clear to anyone wants to see the truth like with Anne's Tempest Prize and the society "Israel" aipacheck. Bribery is their main language.

You know what scares me the most in Student?
The Andini speech in that grape scene.
So very much like how Benjamin Hitler gave his speech in front of USA congress and got so many standing applause with lust for Palestinians blood in those very congress people eyes. Just like the Shakespeare society.

All they need to do was kneel and hail Benjamin Hitler, and it will be perfect historical picture of an empire crumbling.

Great job, Ms. Warren. I love how Anne head held high in front of Thorne. Just like how Palestinians keep their head held high in their resistance against the society "Israel" and it's creators crimes. And incase your bells haven't ring yet, the creators are USA and Europe when they created zios and send European Jews to colonized Palestine land. You wanna cry me a river to the sea and play victim as Jewish? Learn first the different between Zionist and Jewish then decide which one are you.

So when you see a certain little CNN journalist ask if "Palestinians resistance regret pulling Oct'7" you will be furious for how they erase decades of Palestine holocaust and justify Oct'7 for today brutal massacre of Palestinians.

Can't wait for the finalle. May we see the dismantle and destruction of the society "Israel".
Afterall, justice and liberation are every humans rights, means for all humans.
Never again, means never again for every human being!

End Palestine holocaust!
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!

ARC Review - 5⭐️

The Student is the second book in the Tanglewood University series and picks up shortly after the first book, The Professor finished. You would definitely need to have read The Professor before reading it.

Anne returns to campus after spending the holidays at home and begins a new semester at school. In order to afford her textbooks, she and her friend Daisy return to the hotel where Anne met Professor William Stratford, hoping to find someone to sleep with for money in order to purchase her textbooks.

As she’s about to leave the bar with someone, William interrupts them and tells Anne she is not going with the other man. Instead he takes care of her and then returns her to her dorm on campus.

One the first day of classes, her new professor tells the class that they have the chance to compete for the Tempest prize which is awarded to an exceptional student in Shakespearean literature. Each student will be paired with a mentor to aid them while they complete their piece.

When Anne shows up to her scheduled meeting time, she discovers her assigned mentor is none other than Professor William Stratford. After each mentor session the two wind up having sexual relations, despite knowing they shouldn’t.

Anne gets invited to another event by secret society where she ends up in a tricky situation and William is the one to save her although forced to do things he doesn’t want to, to be able to keep Anne safe.

When their secret hook ups get published on the campus gossip site, things go from bad to worse. And when the secret society gets involved, will Anne and William be able to survive or will everything come crashing down around them?

While I struggled to get into The Professor at first, I was absolutely hooked from the beginning on The Student ! I couldn’t put it down and read it mostly in 1 sitting !

While William is portrayed as the villain at times in the first book, he is redeemed in this one. Anne has quite a bit of character development and I found myself really rooting for her throughout this book!

While The Student also ends on a cliffhanger, I think it was the perfect place to end this book. I am already so excited to see what happens in the series conclusion The Final Exam - coming soon!!

Thank you Skye and The Author Agency for the ARC !

The chemistry between Anne and Professor Stratford skyrocketed in this one. Them trying to get away from each other but at the same time not trying at all to do it, they're trapped in this loop unable to accept their feelings.

How the secret society works isnt that very clear I don't give this 4 stars.

This book definitely dives deeper into the secret society aspect of the story. It picks up after winter break and a new semester is starting, Anne is trying to put everything that happened with William behind her. Things quickly escalate, enemies are revealed, and Anne must decide what side she’s on. This series is very fast paced and a quick read.

I was ready to continue Anne and William’s story after the ending of The Professor, which I liked. The second book in the Tanglewood series was a little bit of all over the place. I was ready for Anne to take down the Society and William. That didn’t happen, it felt like she gave in too easily and forgot that she was trying to take down a dangerous society.
Until she remembered and was upset with them and what they did to her friend. There wasn’t a lot of time with Anne and William together to see their relationship grow.

There were parts that were ok but for me this was a miss on what I liked about book 1. I would still read the last book to the series to find out what happens.

The way author Skye Warren left us hanging at the end of The Professor, it had me excited to jump back into Tanglewood University trilogy series.
Book two; The Student had us picking right back up from the cliffhanger, continuing with Anne’s story.

Although the story didn’t shine bright like the first book. Nonetheless, it still made for a pleasant read with certain bits, pieces and moments keeping you reading through.
From the presence of the secret society holding strong, the mystery surrounding it continued to build up the ever growing suspenseful build around it, keeping you holding on to see where it would lead and the anticipation of the answers to be divulged.
There was also the moments Anne’s shared with her friends Daisy and Carlisle. Whilst there were times of tension within, due to the circumstances surrounding the particular scenes including either of the two. It was still nice to see the friendship they shared and that Anne had people on her side who she could go to. Adding to the enjoyable moments to be had in this story.

One thing that was made known was the constant back and forth Anne exhibited with her feelings towards Will and their ever changing relationship.
Her constant second guessing and going back on her decisions speaking loud and clear, more so when it came to giving into Will. Even when she knew she shouldn’t be.
It was interesting to see her thought process in regards to it, all made known through her POV inner monologue
And although it did make her come across weak IMO, not just from the decision she made, but how she determined said decision within her thought process that brought her to the answer.
She still managed to have some moments of attempting to stand up and be strong for herself. Even when she was knocked down.

Unfortunately for some reason the book took me a long while to actually get into it, since my attention seemed to wane in and out every few chapters.
The story just didn’t seem to capture my attention fully. And maybe it was just me, but it didn’t help that the narrative seemed to be a little all over the place.
The lack of some inconsistencies alongside the lack of flow due to the disjointed choppiness, made the storyline not always flow as well together like it had in the first book The Professor IMO.

But with that said, the last 35% roughly, author Skye managed to reel me right back in again.
The Student ended up having me locked on with a firm grip in the anticipation of seeing how it would all play out for Anne and Will. Mainly since for some reason this book had me thinking it was the finale.

Did the ending of The Student catch me off guard? Heck yeah it did!
Having expected this to be a duet for some reason, author Skye Warren had me shouting out in frustration from the cliffhanger she left us hanging on.
The finale in Tanglewood University trilogy series The Final Exam could not come fast enough with wanting to know how it will all end for Anne and Will.

Author: Skye Warren
Rating: 5/5 ⭐️
Spiciness Rating: 3.5/5 🌶
POV: First Person Perspective
Main Couple: Anne and William
Trope(s): Secret Society/Student/Professor/Ex-Boyfriend’s Father/Forbidden Romance/”Good Girl”/

‘These forbidden encounters with Stratford may be reckless, dangerous even, but it has also given me something that I’ve never had before; a sense of belonging, a connection that transcends the boundaries of lust and love.’

The Student is the second Book in the Tanglewood University Trilogy. Books will need to be read in order. Anne has spent the Christmas holiday at home and the book begins with her returning to Tanglewood and finding Daisy has returned also. Although she is happy to see Daisy, Anne can tell she is putting on a brave face. But, after the way her and William left things before break she is also on edge. She just wants to move on, finish school, and finally be free from her parents' shackles. William just wants to protect her from the Society. We learn even more about the Shakespeare Society, their members, and how they will manipulate their power. The suspense building in this book had me on edge a couple of times and that cliffy. Poetic until the last sentence.

Anne is ready to put Professor Stratford behind her, but circumstances have them thrown together as he mentor’s her. Their study sessions become heated. Their connection and attraction is too strong to deny.

However, the Shakespeare Society is not done with Anne. And, as they hurt another friend she decides she must speak out somehow. But, she has now drawn a bullseye on her back. The Society’s influence is strong and widespread.

William does his best to shield her, but the cost may be higher than either of them considered.

Book one in this series, The Professor, was one of my favorite books of the year (so far), and I was really looking forward to more. Unfortunately, this second book was just nowhere near as good, almost like it was written by a different person. Interesting dynamics and foreshadowed events from book one were either completely done away with or so little done with them it was like the author forgot about them or chose to go in a completely different direction and pretend they didn't happen. The new ideas and characters introduced in this one were so underdeveloped it was nigh impossible to care about them as a reader. There were a few seeds of the intelligent Shakespearean analogy and correlations that we saw in book one that I enjoyed so much, but again, so minimally explored. There were several steamy scenes between the main couple but they lacked the tension and heat of the first book, in my opinion. I'm really sad to be so disappointed after the high of book one; I know this one was pushed back and I think it should have been pushed back even longer, as it needs work. Also, both books are relatively short (and this one much shorter than the page count on Amazon, which I know is generally not trustworthy) and could easily be one long book or a duet at most, again, my opinion. Lastly, there were 25-30 errors, which is an error on more than 10% of the pages, and that is a lot for this reader since each one takes me out of the story that was already struggling to hold my attention. Hopefully, the finale makes up some ground and recaptures some of the magic of book one.

What to Expect:
- Forbidden Romance
- Professor/Student
- Dark Academia
- Secret Society
- Age Gap
- Ex-Boyfriend's Father

The Student is the second book in the Tanglewood University series. Book two digs deeper into Anne and William's secret relationship. They have amazing chemistry and can't seem to stay away from each other. I so badly wanted to dislike William, but I couldn't help but be his fan after finding out he would put himself and his career on the line to protect Anne. I am a sucker for a forbidden romance, and I loved their sizzling moments together. This is an intense read. Anne has herself tangled up in the dangerous secret world of the Shakespeare Society, and she is determined to bring them down. The secrets, twists, and turns keep me on the edge of my seat. I wish the book included more information about the Shakespeare Society and their actual plan. Why was it started? How does the society work? How far does their influence go, and what type of influence do they really have? I hope these questions are answered in the final book in this series. The cliffhanger had me screaming, and I need to know what happens next.

Narration:
Alexis Paige performed solo narration. I've been spoiled with an abundance of dual and duet-style narrated audiobooks, so I was concerned about this one being solo narrated. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this performance. Alexis did an amazing job portraying all the characters and making them distinguishable.

Thanks to Skye Warren, Lyric Audiobooks, and Must Love Audio for the ALC. Opinions expressed are my own.

Okay.. this got real dark real fast! To be honest I wasn’t expecting this from the second book but it took me by surprise. This is the second book in the Tanglewood University Trilogy and continues from where the first book ended. This book was a little more intense from the previous one but really good nonetheless and once again with the cliff hanger!!! The interpretation of Hamlet paired with the chemistry of the characters gave me all the feels! I really enjoyed the writing and the buildup of the story has been really great✨ Once again Professor Stanford and Anne have left me speechless and I honestly can’t wait for the third book. Please author be careful of my heart and let it be a happy ending otherwise I won’t be able to take it, iykyk🥺🙏🏻

The book continues the story of Anne finding her place in Tanglewood University and trying to stay away from the Shakespeare Society. The society has escalted and is now on the dangerous territory.

Overall if you are looking for a forbidden romance with great chemistry, spice and thriller with plot twists, this book is perfect!! Remember this is the second book in trilogy so you’ll have to wait a little for the last book.

Skye Warren continues to captivate with *The Student*, the second book in the Tanglewood University trilogy. This installment mixes dark academia, forbidden romance, and intense power struggles, keeping readers hooked from start to finish.

If the cliffhanger in the first book left you stunned, *The Student* will leave you breathless. The ending is powerful, and I’m still processing it.

In this book, we delve deeper into the world of Shakespeare, particularly focusing on Ophelia's madness and death in *Hamlet*. The secret society at Tanglewood University becomes even more sinister, revealing its goal of total dominance, with no concern for morality.

New characters are introduced, adding depth to the story and highlighting the injustices that exist in this world. The mysteries at Tanglewood grow even darker, pulling you further into the story.

At the core of the book is the relationship between Anne and William. Their attraction, tension, and desire for each other only intensify. Warren’s writing makes you feel every emotion as their bond strengthens, even as danger looms.

Now, we must wait for the final book in this trilogy, which has kept us on edge. The tension between love and power is sure to reach a breaking point in the conclusion, leaving us eagerly anticipating what’s to come.

This is book two of this trilogy, and let me tell you, if book one left you with your mouth open with that cliffhanger, this one really leaves your heart in your hands.
I'm still digesting this ending...

In this book we continue to dive into the Shakespearean world, this time navigating the waters of Ophelia's madness and death in Hamlet, and of course we delve even deeper into the malevolent secret society. Where we begin to realize that its objective is, without a doubt, dominance and total power, where no means are looked at or there is any type of morality to achieve this objective.

New characters are introduced and add more dimension to the story, but they also give us absolute clarity about the injustice that rules the world. And the mysteries in Tanglewood depeen even more.

At the center of this book we have the unfolding love story between Anne and William, where we feel their attraction, tension and desire for each other grow and solidify, the inevitable realization that they cannot stay away from each other. And we feel all these emotions with every word written, but that doesn't mean we stop feeling that tightness in our hearts and the deep desire to protect these characters from all the evil directed at them.

Now we have to wait patiently for the third and final book in this trilogy, which has kept us on the edge of our seats, in a precarious balance, and wait for the final plunge.

✨ARC Review✨

*check content and trigger warnings as there are heavy topics that are discussed and occur on page*

We’re back at Tanglewood University in the second installment of this trilogy and Skye really did a number on me during this book.

Anne and William are faced with numerous obstacles in this book such as Anne’s loyalty to her parents (who still suck), maintaining a mentor/mentee relationship for the esteemed Tempest Prize (I’ll let you guess how professional that stayed) and the ramped up antics of The Shakespeare Society (someone at the FBI should really be investigating them).

While their chemistry is absolutely undeniable, I did find myself wanting to see more of the inner workings of the society these two are trying to shut down and wondering if the new characters that were introduced were pawns or making significant plays in the plot.

The cliffhanger that we’re left with is nothing short of jaw dropping and I just know that The Final Exam is going to be a wild ride.

- Dark Academia
- Secret Society
- Forbidden
- Ex Boyfriend’s Dad
- Age Gap
- Student x Professor

I sat in anticipation waiting to read this book, considering how the first one ended, and I was not disappointed.
I could not stop reading this book, and I really enjoyed the intrigue knowing more about the extent of the Society.

One thing I did find a bit strange is the conflict from the previous book. It felt like it was completely ignored and didn't happen, so there wasn't really a satisfying solution or any solution really to the bombshell of the last book.

I enjoyed the development of Anne and Will's relationship. I do feel at times that sex is used as a crutch for bonding moments or the characters getting to know each other more deeply, so I would've liked to see a bit more chemistry that is not sex related.

I was hoping to get deeper into the lore of the Shakespeare Society and academia, which was delivered to an extent, but I'm definitely excited to see where it goes in the next book.

That being said, I still really enjoyed this book and could not put it down. There is definitely something extremely addictive to Skye Warren's writing. I think the lore and the intrigue are also really interesting and gives the book a lot more depth.

The Professor is one of my top 5 reads of the year. I absolutely enjoyed the dark academia vibes and getting immersed in the Shakespeare Society, so I was very excited to continue reading more in the Student and I do have some mixed feelings.

Anne and William’s relationship is filled with such great chemistry and intense moments, but it kind of overtook the overall story of why the society acted the way it did. There were a few questions I still had as we kind of raced through this book compared to the first one. I’m all for smut and it’s well written in this series, but it’s pretty much in every other chapter…

Second books tend to either be the best book in a series or the overall arch into an intense climax, so I won’t say that I didn’t like this book as it did set up for the society’s probable downfall at Anne’s hands after William is hurt.

Can’t wait for the final book! Still recommend this series if you want some fallish vibes even though this one is set in spring lol you still get that dark romance feel.

This book is the second in a series, the first being The Professor, and you really should read that before diving in to this one. Full disclosure, this is the second in a planned trilogy, so there is a cliffhanger, but DO NOT let that deter you from picking this up before the third book comes out though. If you’re into professor/student, dark academia, hate to love, ex boyfriend’s dad, secret society, and found family, you’ll love this book. Also the spice in this book is excellent. The book is well written and the plot is twisty and enthralling. The main characters William and Anne have a rocky relationship together, but they also have trauma and secrets in their personal lives that unravel more in this book. I really enjoyed this book. Highly recommend!

Anne Hill and Professor William Stratford are back in the continuation to their twisted story. We start right where “the professor” left off with secrets revealed and the repercussions it caused. He is not a good man but can he find a way to be good for Anne? Can she stay away from him or is he already under her skin. Will she discover just how much “the society” truly rules the school? Welcome back to Tanglewood University where chaos reigns and secrets live with the walls. Another cliffhanger lives you waiting to see what will happen in the conclusion to this mystery. Told in first person and Anne’s POV.

Excuse me, but WTF?

Skye is known for her cliffhangers and the intense endings of her books, but THIS I did NOT see coming.

The story picks up right where the last one left off, diving deeper into the secret society and the relationship between William and Anne.

What I love most about these books is the unpredictability—there's no way to guess what will happen next. The intense connection between William and Anne, their inability to be apart, and Skye's wild cliffhangers are what make these stories unforgettable.
