Clear, succinct, straightforward- this book distills decades of wisdom and understanding into a relatively quick read. The author doesn’t waste your time. Great skills for getting along with others in your family, workplace, and community. A textbook for freedom, democracy, cooperative social action and mutual respect. Leadership in an equitable framework. Great people skills for activism. Empowering information!
I read this after attending three webinars from the author and still took a lot of value from the techniques and approaches described in the book. This inspired a lot of ideas that I can implement in my work life and some for my personal life as well.
I always enjoy reading Robin Dreeke’s books, and Unbreakable Alliances: A Spy Recruiter’s Guide to Cultivating Powerful and Lasting Connections is no exception.
Dreeke’s book is well written with many references to other books that support the topic being discussed. What I especially appreciate is that at the end of each chapter Dreeke summarizes the key points. And at the end of the book, he reinforces those key points by providing exercises that cause the reader to review the material.
If you have read other books on the importance of communication, empathy, body language, gratitude, and similar topics, Unbreakable Alliances will be familiar. Even so, Dreeke gathers key concepts and presents them in an understandable and logical sequence.
I wish this book were much longer, perhaps breaking the book into a four part series where Dreeke could go into much more detail with case studies.
In my life as an avid reader, the number of books I couldn’t bring myself to finish is fewer than a handful. Most of those were abandoned not because of poor writing, but due to overly technical content or a subject matter that failed to resonate.
In this case, I was genuinely looking forward to tapping into the lifelong experiences of an FBI operative—hoping for real insight, wisdom, and compelling accounts from high-stakes operations. What I found, however, was unbelievably disappointing.
The so-called ‘stories’ lacked substance and depth, written in a tone that felt more suited to elementary school readers than to an adult audience seeking real perspective. Despite the book being a light and short read, with overly simplistic language, I couldn’t bring myself to continue. I forced myself halfway through, and even that felt like a waste of time.
I was deeply disappointed by Dreeke's latest book. I've read two other of his book and found them insightful and thoughtful. Dreeke previously relied heavily on his own experience and system of relationships. In this latest book he pulls very little from his personal experience and relies heavily on other writers like Ryan Holiday. Just go read Dreeke's two other books and you'll get this book but in a better form.
