The basic story was good, but there were a lot of gaffes in the telling. Starting with the grandmother's insurance-- in her 80's she would have had Medicare, so the discussion about tests being paid for by the family, incorrect. Made a big deal about not getting cell phone reception and having to find a spot in the yard to make calls, next chapter, same day, -- cell service and internet not an issue. Needing a PI to find out about DNA or prison records? Really? Prison records and criminal history are easy to find on-line. There was no mention of swap samples, put the DNA came back as a match, with no one seeing test results? I lived in a small town, there is no way that the sisters could have been that clueless about family history, if any rumor was discussed between more than 2 people. Gossip is currency in small towns. No one thought to read the grandmother's journals or personal papers after boxing it up? New editor is needed.
The premise was good and had a decent plot twist though it came suddenly and conveniently. I didn't really like the writer's style and delivery, which i felt was extremely repetitive. The same EXACT words and phrases were always used multiple times in the same paragraph and within the chapter, it was a little annoying. But for a quick read it was entertaining.
The story is good, but the writing is uneven, with many annoying mistakes that could have been edited out with a good proofread. This seems to be a pattern with books by Marie Wilkens. Perhaps she needs to make use of an editor before publishing. Worth reading if you can tolerate the bad editing, and looping narrative(not every chapter needs to recap the previous one!) B-
Where to begin. Well, let's start with plot holes far, far too many. Then, repetitive dialog that feels like filler for a lack of story. I had hoped the writing and story would improve, but it didn't . I have read other stories by the author that were much more interesting and better put together.
The Ghosts of Greene Estate By Marie Wilkens I love ghost stories but this was a let down. The plot was one that sounded like a half a dozen others I have already read. I started to think I had already read this. The only excitement is the last few pages!
This was flat too many filler words I was disappointed I felt I had to finish it but was able to hit a few words on each page and still got the whole story which was totally predictable
Really enjoyed reading this great book and highly recommend that you read it. Very well written and interesting. Looking forward to reading more of Marie Williams books.
Interesting storyline, though somewhat predictable. Certain phrases were repetitive throughout. The author badly needed a proofreader. This, in fact, was almost a deal breaker for me, but I continued reading. Overall, I would recommend this book. >>>>>>Language
Decent quick read with a few twists but they were unfortunately, easy to pick up. Overall the premise was good but the lack of character development and background made it ok versus great. Would’ve rathered an actual voice versus AI. It took some of the emotion away and felt rigid.
The storyline is pretty good but the author spends way to many words repeating what she just said. The last two chapters are the best because they move right along.
