Victoria Miller is a hard-working member of a Montreal swim team, who has been training six days a week for four years. That's what it takes to keep up with her teammate and rival, Svetlana. Most of the other swimmers are spurred on by their parents-but not Victoria. In fact, her mother doesn't seem to be interested in much of anything these days, and her father has buried himself in work. When the family situation takes a grim turn, Victoria finds help-in and out of the pool-from the person she least expects. Previous Different Strokes
Flip Turn was a good book because i liked how it was writen and when she was writing i knew the place so i thought it was pretty cool to know the place where she did her swiming lessons many years ago. I like this author because all her books were writen in montreal, they feel more realistic and you probably will know where the area is if your from here.
Monique Polak will be visiting Kiera's Guide Group this spring so I picked this book up at the public library for her to read beforehand. I couldn't resist reading it myself. A good read for the 8-12 range, dealing with some of the struggles of growing up and recognizing that the world is bigger than you.
