Everyone dies, someday and somehow. But for sixteen year old Alison Redding, life is too short.
Allie is dying of cancer. More than anything, she wants to be a normal teenager. She keeps her secrets close to her chest at school. But pretending to be healthy can be exhausting. The truth is stretched and the lies pile up. All the while, Allie tries to make the most of each moment. New friends find their way into her heart and family becomes the key to Allie's happiness.
Can Allie maintain the pretence when the lies are larger than the truth? When it seems that all hope is lost, can she find the people who make her want to fight back? And can she fall in love when time is running out?
If you liked John Green's The Fault in Our Stars or Nicholas Sparks' A Walk to Remember, you'll love Awakening to Life!
I read this in wattpad before it was published as an e-book.
it is very emotional filled with awesome descriptions and funny moments mixed with all the drama.
The goodbye letters made me cry so much!
I liked that the author never tried to go too much into the illness and medical stuff. It felt like the cancer was there only to seal the fate of the main char and the story was developed around it and not inside.
Dying is too sore a topic when unanticipated. It shows how almost everyone isnt yet ready to face it, still hoping to live on ahead.
I cried over this. I'm one person who isn't ready but read the book anyway, so it really touched emotions yet tapped by death and grief.
Allie, for her part, was a show of a strong person. She wanted to look okay to lessen the worry of others around her.
What's good about this story is how uncomplicated the family is despite cancer. It made it focus on the experience of getting by without too much drama on that side. There are stories that go on about wreckage of families over these cases, it may be reality but others would not have portrayed the life lived with enough justice without adding too much scenes of nonsense and melodrama.
This was one of the first novels i have read, a couple years back on wattpad in 2013, loved it, fell in love with it, i still love it and i knew it'll be a huge success with a storyline like that ❤️
