KELLY THOMPSON has a degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design. Her love of comics and superheroes have compelled her since she first discovered them as a teenager. Currently living in Portland, Oregon with her boyfriend and the two brilliant cats that run their lives, you can find Kelly all over the Internet where she is generally well liked, except where she's detested.

Kelly has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) and the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing ROGUE & GAMBIT, HAWKEYE, and PHASMA for Marvel Comics and GHOSTBUSTERS for IDW. Other major credits include: A-Force, Captain Marvel & The Carol Corps, Jem and The Holograms, Misfits, Power Rangers Pink, and the creator-owned mini-series Mega Princess.

Kelly's ambitions are eclipsed only by her desire to exist entirely in pajamas. Fortunately pajamas and writers go hand in hand (most of the time). Please buy all her stuff so that she can buy (and wear) more pajamas.

let’s talk about Kelly Thompson…

Her work on birds of prey, amazing. The story is keeping me guessing at each page. Heck, at each frame! And, after the book is done, we get to see those eyes of hers. Icing on an extremely well written cake!

I love this title.

The Birds go undercover at a fashion show and get attacked by mind controlled beefcake. And then it gets weird!

Gotta be honest, plot wise I felt last few issues been lackluster. Saying that, Barda naked beating up a bunch of naked guys is funny as hell. A 3 out of 5.

I did not expect that in the slightest! What a chaotic and beautiful issue! I especially love the banter and connection between the birds, the character work here is stellar. Ok so we know that we are dealing with a rival time traveler here trying to target the birds of prey, we also know that Mari has been targeted recently with mind control clothing from her brand, and there is a high likelihood that it is the same person. So Mari puts together a plan for the birds to put on a fashion show to try and draw out the time traveling crook. Except things immediately turn to hell. Barbara is running point from an overwatch position and while monitoring everything she continues to get strange energy readings but can’t pinpoint where it is, it’s as of it keeps moving around. As Sin heads outside and meets up with Meridian everything starts to blow up inside as the male models start to attack the birds and the guests due to being mind controlled! Fearing the mind control Barda immediately strips off all her clothes, leading to some hilarious in book censoring as she didn’t realize her clothes were completely fine. But as the fighting continues it seems the clothes or the people wearing the clothes or something shifted into full on monsters! They lost connection with Barbara and were unable to instruct her not to run in and help them, but after clearing out the guests Canary was able to deliver a powerful sonic blast to clear the field. Meridian snagged Barda to escort her through the scene, but there’s nothing left other than to head out and debrief on the mission. But suddenly Barbara catches something out of the corner of her eye and seems to be drawn to it. Dinah turns around too late to see Barbara being dragged into a green portals! As she sits there in dismay, knowing they shouldn’t have brought her…Canary orders everyone to stay behind as she jumps into the portal after her. You really expect them to do that? Of course not, the issue ends with everyone immediately following through the portal. I LOVE THAT SO MUCH!

Write every issue like this and I'll keep reading them. Entertaining, unpredictable, wild story. Even with the vintage art style this issue was amusing.

I miss the artist of the first arc.

Javier Pina is no Leonardo Romero, but the presence of series colorist, Jordie Bellaire, provides the visual consistency a fledging monthly series needs as it moves beyond single issue numbering to the hopeful stability of double-digit numbering.

I haven't 'shipped characters since Picard and Crusher – not even Mulder and Scully – and yet here I am waiting for Big Bertha to team-up-within-the-team again with her Small Bat.
