I was born and raised in the beautiful historic market town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, where I live still with my kid, one crazy cat and a succession of even crazier lodgers. I'm a multi-genre author which basically means I write whatever story floats into my head and worry about what genre it fits into afterwards. So far, I have written in contemporary fiction, romantic suspense, YA fantasy, folklore fantasy, sci-fi, short stories, poetry, and even a fabulous steampunk retelling of the Snow White story.

I have been writing stories and poems since I could first pick up a pen, and I promise there are many more books in the pipeline. I write the kind of books that I like to read myself. Books I can escape into and that make me laugh, cry and really connect with the characters. I also like my books to have a very satisfying ending, where all is explained and no string is left untied, well, not unless I'm planning a sequel that is.

Hide & Seek is the 6th book in the Blackwood Family Saga. This time it’s Liam Blackwood’s story.

This is a rollercoaster of a ride, filled with twists and turns, as Agent Kelly Euston tries to protect Liam from someone who is trying very hard to kill him.

It’s also a very personal story between Liam and Kelly who fight against their growing feelings for each other.

This is a great read. Fast-paced and thoroughly enjoyable. Exactly what one would expect from a Julia Blake Blackwood Family Saga.

5 Stars all the way.

Hide and Seek by Julia Blake
A rollercoaster ride of thrills and excitement, Hide and Seek, Book Six of the Blackwood Family Saga does not disappoint.
I loved the action scenes, guns, swordplay and martial arts but what captivated me was the growing relationship between the main characters Kelly Euston and her client, Liam Blackwood. Two damaged souls finding a growing respect for each others strengths through enforced confinement. A kickass heroine and a wounded hero what’s not to love?
If you enjoy a fast paced thriller with smoking sexual tension you will love Hide and Seek.

Used to photographing events, Liam Blackwood finds himself face to face with an assassin. Assigned to protect him, agent Kelly Euston fights off a persistent assailant and her own uncomfortable feelings.

The magic of this entire series is on full display here, being wonderful characters, navigating an unexpected romance, in the midst of a thriller style setting.

Great pageturning, five star fun with a wonderful feel good factor.

Agent Kelly Euston’s tragic past helped make her the strong, independent woman she is today.
Protecting Liam Blackwood turns out to be much more than she bargained for.
I love strong women in fiction and the Blackwood Family Series is full of them. Author Julia Blake never fails to impress and she certainly got me again. She is one of those authors I’m eager to read as soon as she has a new release.

Hide and Seek, by Julia Blake, is the sixth and newest release in the Blackwood Family Saga. I’m a big fan, having devoured the first five books, and have come to love the family and its unique members. The Blackwood family has had an inordinate amount of danger thrust upon them. I’ve enjoyed all their adventures. Each book focuses on one member. In book six, Liam, the youngest in the family, is the protagonist. I was excited to read it and ordered the hard copy, which released first. I was instantly engaged and back in the lives of the Blackwood’s. I read it in two sittings.

Liam is not a stranger to danger as a war photographer. He has seen a lot of terrible things and had some high stress experiences. But he is not a trained soldier and after an attempt on his life, in which he is pretty badly injured and vulnerable, he needs protection. His enemy is not going to stop. And to make matters more confusing, he has absolutely no idea who might want him dead.

This means it is time for the Blackwood family to call on the Organisation to protect him. Agent Isabella Santorini, (the Blackwood’s sister-in-law) is not available and she and Nick are nowhere to be found, so Agent Kelly Euston is brought in for the job. In a reversal of traditional roles, the woman protects the man from danger, and she will fight to the death if necessary to do her job. Kelly is smart, trained as a warrior, tough, gorgeous and if truth be said lonely, with some hidden esteem issues. Liam, usually dynamic, has had his confidence challenged by this situation and his weakened condition, and he also has yet to find a relationship that lasts. The tensions between them grow, and not all the tension is from the hair raising situation they are in. They are cooped up in hiding for quite a long time. I love how Ms. Blake creates romantic and sexual tension. She does it splendidly with clever, witty dialogue and internal reflections of the characters. It does the job beautifully. I especially enjoyed the scenes of their eating together. Liam is a great cook, when not out on a dangerous photography job, and the author’s descriptions of meals and how Kelly is entranced with them, is delightful.

The plot is satisfying and the uncovering of why Liam has been targeted unravels beautifully, with a thrilling resolution. It is truly a game of cat and mouse, as the author says - and a tale of hide and seek.

If you want some fast, exciting and fun escape, with romance and danger around every turn, this book is a great choice, as is the whole Blackwood Family Saga. They would all make great action/adventure movies.

Hide & Seek is book six of the fabulous Blackwood Family Saga which tells the individual stories of the strong men, and even stronger women, who make up this eclectic and eccentric clan, and the dangerous path they must travel to find true love.

Liam is the youngest of the Blackwood boys. Aware of the risks involved in his chosen career as a war photographer, Liam copes with the horrors he witnesses through his broad and mischievous sense of humour. But then someone tries to kill him and suddenly it’s no longer a laughing matter. As the attempts on his life start to stack up, the Family hire the services of Kelly Euston to retrieve Liam from a military hospital in the middle of a war zone and escort him home. An agent in the mysterious and powerful Organisation run by Sebastian Santorini, Kelly is the second-in-command to the legendary Isabella Santorini.

Charged with protecting Liam, as Kelly and her client are forced into close proximity and the weeks slip by with no clue as to who wants Liam silenced, Kelly realises that she is developing unprofessional feelings for Liam. Determined not to let them get in the way of her completing her mission, Kelly works with Liam dredging through his recent past to try and find out what he knows that has painted a target on his back.

Soon Agent Kelly Euston realises that there is more at stake than her professional reputation. In this deadly game of hide and seek, hearts are on the line.

I finished Hide & Seek in two days and LOVED it! I must have read the last chapter three times before closing the book. No surprise since l’ve loved all the books in the Blackwood saga thus far, all be it, for different reasons. Hide & Seek tugged at my heart strings. It was the vulnerability of both Liam and Kelly that grabbed my heart and squeezed till it felt Iike I couldn’t breathe.

Hide & Seek took me by the hand as I entered the surreal world of The Organization of the notorious Sebastian Santorini. I went willingly; but with much trepidation and anticipation. I was not disappointed. Liam and Kelly are stuck together in a safe house for weeks and things happen… well, don’t happen. This is a love story with murder on the menu. Liam has faced dangers many times in the past as a war photographer; but nothing like this. Kelly has had to fight all of her life and she’s good at it. The stakes are high.

Blake serves up a thrilling page turner of a story filled with intensifying danger, life’s potholes, love and most of all family.

I can see The Blackwood Family Saga as a Netflix series. It’s that good.

Hide & Seek is the sixth book in the Blackwood Family Saga, and here we find Liam, the youngest of the Blackwood guys. He is gorgeous, witty, and no stranger to danger.

As a war photographer, Liam is familiar with the sight of horror, but when horror comes knocking, and Liam is faced with his own battle from an unknown source, it's a different matter. Waking to find himself in a military hospital in the midst of a war zone, Liam Blackwood needs saving. Enter Agent Kelly Euston. Not only strong in will and determination, Kelly Euston packs a punch.

The characters are truly believable, with solid scenes that play out like a slick Hollywood movie. I know I say it every time, but Hide & Seek is my favourite book of the series so far. It delivers all the thrills and heart-stopping moments you expect from the Blackwood series, but there is a stylish and cleverness to the writing that presents the reader with a smart twist and plays on the classic damsel in distress.

If you enjoy slick, fast-paced thrillers fringed with romantic tension, read The Blackwoods.

I love this series, so I hopped straight on the release of this latest instalment of the Blackwood Family adventures. This episode follows Liam Blackwood, war photographer, who finds himself the target of a mysterious killer—and for no obvious reason. Enter agent Kelly Euston, assigned to protect him while the hunt for his killer goes on. But as Liam and Kelly are forced into close quarters, the line between their professional relationship starts to blur, bringing a lovely dollop of romance into this fast moving thriller.

As with all the books in this series, Hide & Seek is a page-turner. The plot moves along well, balanced nicely by both the romantic tension and the threats to Liam’s life. I read this in two sittings as it was hard to put down, and although Blake typically delivers happy ever afters, I feared both Kelly and Liam’s stubbornness would lead to an eventual separation. Do they get their happy ever after? You’ll have to read Hide & Seek to find out!

I’ve read the previous five books in the series and when this one came out on the 27th March, I bought it and read it before the end of the month. As I said above, if the book has Julia’s name on the front, you know you are in for a good read.

Each book in the series is standalone and deals with one member of the Blackwood family finding a bride. This time it is Liam. If you think this is just a romance book, it isn’t. None of them are. It’s a thriller mystery.

Someone is out to assassinate Liam Blackwood, but he has no idea who it could be. As a result he is forced into hiding and assigned a bodyguard. Enter Agent Kelly Euston, a sassy, strong woman, who would lay down her life to protect her client. And that’s almost what she has to do.

Overall, it’s a super read. A woman protecting a man from harm is a refreshing change. It matches the pace of the other books with exciting, and page turning scenes. It will appeal to all readers and I thoroughly recommend it.

"Hide and Seek" is a thrilling read. In the story, Liam faces a dangerous situation, but Agent Kelly Euston is there to protect him. Kelly's unwavering commitment to duty and striking beauty make her a formidable character. Her ability to overcome past traumas and emerge as a strong and capable woman is truly inspiring. I give this portrayal of a resilient and confident female lead a bright, shiny 5 stars.
