In the bustling heart of Paris, where cobblestone streets whisper tales of romance, two friends find themselves tied together in an unexpected journey.

Alana Cade never thought her three year love story would end over a bowl of pasta, but after coming to the realization that her ex was kind of the worst, she’s sworn off men and thrown herself into her work at Impress Magazine. It’s been a full year of no dates, no swooning, and no complications. Now she can’t help but notice the strong and steady friendship she has in her coworker, Alex Ashford, and how it would be so easy to fall into something more.

Alex, one of Impress Magazine’s top editors, has never been able to take his eyes off of his witty and charming colleague, Alana. Her determination, focus and drive make her all the more attractive, but Alex has never made it out of the friend zone.

Bound by their shared passion for success, Alex and Alana embark on a business trip to the enchanting city of Paris. As they explore the city's hidden treasures, from cozy cafés to moonlit strolls along the Seine, Alex and Alana begin to see each other in a different light. With every stolen glance and lingering touch, their friendship blossoms into something more. But as they navigate the delicate balance between professional obligations and newfound desires, Alex and Alana must confront their fears and insecurities, risking it all for a chance at happily ever after in the City of Love.

Will they be able to overcome and fall into the timeless magic of Paris, or will the obstacles in their way keep them apart?

Tied Together is a low stakes, sweet romance that will tug on your heartstrings and remind you what it feels like to love again after heartbreak.

HOW is this a debut?!
This is a book that any millenial can appreciate. It’s The Devil Wears Prada but make it a romcom with a curvy girl as the lead.
I *love* a cinnamon roll MMC who has self awareness and can apologize GENUINELY when he’s wrong and Alex is all of those things.
And Alana? There is a little bit of all of us in Alana. She is relatable and lovable and I love her sm.
Baleigh knocked it out of the park.

Also of note / this is a wonderful romantic story without open door spice, so no need to avoid any chapters/pages if you like to skip those scenes.

Thanks to Baleigh for the ARC. 🎀

Tied Together by Baleigh Jayne Review

Tied Together by Baleigh Jayne is a tender, slow‑burn friends‑to‑lovers romance set against the picture‑perfect backdrop of Paris at Christmastime. The story follows Alana Cade, a witty, career‑focused magazine editor who swore off love after her long‑term relationship ended badly, and Alex Ashford, her loyal coworker who has quietly carried feelings for her far longer than she realizes. When the two are sent on a work trip to help their company’s Paris branch over the holidays, the City of Love becomes more than a postcard setting: it becomes the place where buried emotions, shared joy, and quiet vulnerability start slipping into view between the cobblestone streets, cozy cafés, and twinkling lights. Together they must navigate the line between colleagues and something more, confronting their fears and hopes with every Seine‑side walk and late‑night conversation.

As I read this, what moved me most was how real Alana and Alex felt as individuals and as friends taking tentative steps toward something deeper. Alana’s journey from heartbreak to cautious hope is infused with so much honest feeling that I found myself rooting for her resilience in every awkward, tender conversation, and Alex’s steady, patient affection made my heart swell with warmth rather than dramatic grand gestures.

The way Paris wraps around them is almost like a third character, bringing out quiet confessions and shared laughter that felt utterly charming and personal. The emotional growth here unfolds at a satisfying pace, grounded in small, meaningful moments rather than rushed climaxes, and the chemistry between these two had me smiling more than once. While the narrative leans into cozy familiarity rather than dramatic twists, that gentle sweetness is precisely what makes this story feel like curling up with a warm drink in front of a fire on a cold winter’s night.

Rating: 3 out of 5
Because the heartfelt evolution of friendship into love and the enchanting Paris setting made this a cozy, uplifting romance that stayed with me.

AVAILABLE NOW! I was able to be a beta reader for my friend’s debut novel! This was the sweetest story with some really great tropes.

I am a sucker for a workplace romance book. This reminded me of the hating game (minus the hating) and Emily in Paris! If you’ve ever dreamed of Paris in the Christmas time this book is for you🎀💕

🎄 The vibes:
- dual pov
- Workplace romance
- Friend zone
- Paris during Christmas
- Closed door

🎄 My thoughts:
There were some really cute elements in this one. It took a while to get to the Christmas elements of the story- but once we got there, I really enjoyed the Christmas vibes.

My favorite character was Alex - what a freaking cutie. Oh my goodness. The chocolates. His relationship with his mom. And his friendship with Banks 😭🖤. I mean was there anything that Alex could do wrong? No. He was perfection.

I really felt for Alana. Goodness- she is going through it. She really struggles with anxiety and also insecurity. She doubts everyone and second guesses everyone’s actions towards her. I think this will resonate with a lot of readers, but there were moments that she exhausted me. She made me feel tired and drained from her mental load. It’s heavy in the first half and it does continue to be a main plot point for Alana.

The conflict was a lot for me because I was already struggling with Alana throughout, but Charlie was an amazing voice of reason and support which I loved to see.

And finally the epilogue was adorable. So cute.

This is a debut novel and while some moments felt a little bit choppy or out of place, I could definitely see a lot of potential with the writing style. Lots of cute moments, and I’d read future books from this author.

I’m the minority reviewer here and I’m so sorry 😣

So it’s clearly this authors first (or one of their first) books. The author does a lot of telling and not showing which pretty consistently took me out of the story. It was as if things were analyzed or explained to such fine grain detail that it stopped feeling like organic storytelling. It took me an exceptional amount of time to plow through this but I wanted to love it so much, I persevered.

Anxiety? Relatable. Parental issues? Relatable. Absolutely melting down to an unreasonable degree because they are offered to work in Paris over the holiday with a view of the Eiffel Tower? GTFO.

It’s not closed door- it’s no door at all. You’re at like 90% before you get a kiss. I don’t need sex in a book for it to be good but my problem is that she was in constant turmoil about romance for the entirety of the book. Alex’ constant romantic efforts is the only thing that makes this book a romance novel.

The MFC in this book has absolutely zero emotional fortitude. Everyone’s response to an emotionally abusive relationship is unique but the way she takes that out on the undeserving MMC who is endlessly tolerant and patient with her is unrealistic. He proves himself to her every single day with unwavering respect and patience. When reading it, it stopped being romantic and started to feel cruel to him.

Everything about this book pointed to all things that would make me love it. They’re in Paris, over Christmas and they end up in a one bed trope. I truly wanted to love this- I should have but this was definitely a miss for me.

Thank you for the ARC

Tied Together was so cute! Baleigh, I'm honestly shocked this is your first book because it was so good! It was a sweet, clean holiday romance, that highlighted a FMC with anxiety and panic attacks beautifully.

I really liked this story. It's too often that men like Lanie's ex bring women down- telling us we're too loud, we're eating too much, we need to do this, or that. When Lanie left the jerk, I literally wanted to clap my hands. And then I wanted to smack his face because of the anxiety he gave her and she dealt with afterwards.

Thank God there's men like Alex. Men that support their women and lift them up. It's hard to find those, and ladies when you do- we don't let them go! I loved how caring Alex was with Lanie and the fact he always had a little chocolate and Diet Coke for her. gah, yall remind me to kiss my husband later lol.

I cannot wait to read Charlie's story now! Maybe we'll be peeping Cami in it? hmmmm???

A perfect debut! It felt like a Christmas movie, so comforting and heartwarming. You fall in love with all the main characters and start to get excited for your some of the character’s story later down the line. Friends to lovers, dual pov, holiday romance?? Sign me up! Not to mention the pop culture references that make you feel connected to the story even more (romcoms, Taylor Swift).

If you like romance books, the holiday season, Taylor, Swift, The Office, Emily in Paris, and delicious food this one’s for you. 🤍

This is a beautiful, lighthearted debut novel and is the perfect cozy romance read for the holiday season.

I’m a girl who loves a good list, and as someone who makes a Christmas bucket list every year, this book lit me up like a Christmas tree. 🎄

It literally felt like I was spending Christmas in Paris, and that’s pretty magical. 🥹

Alex is the sweetest cinnamon roll of a MMC and I am so excited for you all to get to read about him and Alana.

I genuinely cannot wait to read Charlie’s book next. If I could have it in my hands immediately, I would read it in an instant.

Thank you so much to Lex & Baleigh for choosing me to be part of your ARC team! I am so incredibly grateful. 💕

This is the perfect book to get you into the holiday spirits! It made me want to start decorating for Christmas and create my own holiday traditions. I will definitely be reaching for this one as a comfort read.

Synopsis: Alana and Alex are magazine editors working at the same company. When they’re assigned to help the Europe branch in Paris for a month, things get complicated. Alana, fresh out of a three-year relationship, has sworn off men, but she can’t shake the feeling that her friendship with Alex could turn into something more as they spend more time together.

I love how the author handles heavy topics within relationships and emotional well-being. The characters are incredibly relatable and lovable—I found myself connecting with them often. The female main character is a type-A, a bit of a control freak, but in the best way possible. Watching her grow, learn to let go, and ask for help was truly rewarding. The male main character is the ultimate “cinnamon roll” book boyfriend: caring, detail-oriented, and unbelievably thoughtful.

One important note: this book doesn’t have any open-door spice. I can’t even remember the last time I read a book without it, but honestly, it didn’t need it. It was perfect just as it was!

✨ARC Review✨

This book was an absolutely SPECTACULAR debut by Baleigh Jayne🥹

Alex and Alana are now ingrained in my brain and I never want them to leave.

Alana is organized, a little (okay a lot, but who isn’t?) anxious, determined to prove herself, and learning to love what makes her the best version of her. She’s deeply relatable for us girlies who have been detrimentally harmed by past relationships and lived to tell the tale.

Alex is a man written by a woman (which he obviously was, but if he was real he’d be such a hot commodity). He’s sweet, observant, loyal, and so committed to his Lanie in every way (he brings her chocolate every day, and completed her Christmas tradition list in the most spectacular of fashions). He also loves his mom, which is just swoon worthy.

When Alex and Alana (Lanie) are offered the opportunity to spend a month in Paris by their job to get the Europe office back up and running, they realize they’ve been given the opportunity of a lifetime.

Throughout the course of their time preparing to leave and while in Paris, their feelings start to deeply progress until Lanie finally perseveres through her fear following the end of her last relationship and gives Alex a chance.

Their love is one made for TV, and I loved every moment of this rom-com/hallmark movie-esque novel.

Book two can’t come fast enough!

- Workplace Romance
- Forced Proximity
- Only One Bed
- He Falls First
- No Third Act Break Up
- Friends To Lovers
- Holiday Romance
- Closed Door Romance

I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have received an advanced copy of Tied Together from the author! 🫶

Tied Together is one of the sweetest and most heartwarming books I have ever read and it gave me butterflies from how cute it is! 🥰🎀 I seriously want this book to be made into a movie because that is how much I love it! ❤️ Alana is such a wonderful FMC and I relate to her so much with her struggles with anxiety. It also was amazing to see her grow so much as a character throughout the story. Alex on the other hand is such a golden-retriever guy with the heart of a teddy bear and I love him so much! 🐶💕🧸 He is so sweet and kind and all the little things he does for Alana and how he supports her is seriously everything! 😊 If you are a Swiftie like me you will absolutely love this book because there are so many Taylor Swift references throughout! 😍 Lastly, if you love The Devil Wears Prada vibes, he falls first, forced proximity, holiday romances, Paris, a golden retriever MMC, no third act breakup, and workplace romance then this is the book for you! 🫶 I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Tied Together by Baleigh Jayne is the perfect holiday read that has all the excellent tropes like workplace romance and forced proximity but one cannot forget the romantic setting of Paris! I waited closer to the winter holidays to read this, and I loved the Christmas feels while being indulged in the surroundings of Paris. The author describes settings so vividly and throughout the book, I wished I was booking a trip to Paris for the holidays!

When it comes to the characters, I adored Alex and Alana! Additionally, I enjoyed that the book did not have an overwhelming number of characters and gave depth to the characters of Cami and Charlie. Both Alex and Alana had phenomenal chemistry that kept me interested in the story from beginning to end. Plus, I also liked the bookish and pop culture references scattered throughout the novel!

Overall, this book was so well written and is perfect for the holiday season! This novel is perfect for fans of The Devil Wears Prada or Emily in Paris. Readers looking for the perfect, cozy Christmas novel set in the heart of Paris with the most adoring characters should give this one a try!

Thank you to Baleigh and Lex for the ARC!

🎄✨ Super cute closed-door romance alert! ✨ This one’s perfect to read anytime, but definitely a must-add to your Christmas reads! 🎅🎁 Thank you, Baleigh Jayne and Lex Chabot, for this ARC—I still can’t believe this is Baleigh’s debut novel because the writing is just SO good! 📚💖 Let me add, as a lover of smut, I don't typically give 5 stars to non-smut but this book deserves ALL THE STARS!!!

Meet our fierce FMC, Alana Cade—a strong, hardworking woman who’s just ended a three-year relationship with her misogynist ex, Brad (who had way too much to say about what she ate and how she looked 🙄). After that, she swore off men! But as she works hard for a promotion at Impress, her friend and coworker, Alex, has been falling for her in secret. 🥹💕 Just when he thinks he’s stuck in the friend zone, they get sent on a work trip to Paris—the City of Love—during Christmas! 🎄✈️✨

If you’re into friends-to-lovers, slow-burn romance, no third-act breakups, and all the festive feels, this book is for you! Watching Alex patiently support Alana as she opens her heart again made my heart melt. He goes all out to make her Christmas dreams come true with thoughtful, romantic gestures that are so swoon-worthy. 😍🎄❤️

I read this right after an ARC from one of my all-time favorite authors, and honestly, this book captivated me just as much! Baleigh knocked it out of the park for her debut, and I’m so excited to see what’s next! 📚✨

Lanie and Alex 🎄❤️

I love them! This has been a different ARC read for me since this is my first closed door/ no spice romance that I’ve read in advance. It’s a cute holiday read.

Alana (Lanie) has sworn off men to protect her heart after a break up where she chooses herself! She gets the opportunity to go to the Paris branch as a Fashion editor. The only catch is that she has to miss her holiday traditions with her brother and has to travel with her handsome co-worker who may or may not have feelings for her.

Alex is determined to get out of the friend-zone with Lanie! After having a crush on her for a year he takes this trip to Paris as the opportunity to spend more time with her and get to know who she is outside work.

Some of my favorite moments in this book is the kind gestures he shows her including when he gives her chocolate squares and remembers little details of her life such as the books she likes to read!

This book was such a cute story of Alex and Alana. They had such a cute relationship right from the start. Diet coke and a little square of chocolate...now that's love😉

This story has a lot of emily in Paris vibes for me. I loved how the characters developed, and as they got to know each other, they shared the fears and grew together.

My only small criticism would be I thaught the ending was a little hurried but I loved the story overall.

2.5 stars! I had really really high hopes for this book but it just didn’t hit for me. I did love how he planned different Christmas activities to cross off her list. I thought that was really sweet.

Okay, so. They’re friends right? I wished we would’ve seeeeeeeeen that. She acted like she barely spoke to him at work ever and he’d fallen in love with her secretly for over a year? He came off creepy and stalkerish and if I were her I would feel so unsafe and freaked out. He was so obsessed with her straight out of the gate but we got nothing as far as their friendship goes. Maybe if the book had started off as them teasing each other cause they’re besties, I’d feel differently. But when he starts interacting with her and she finds it interesting because they don’t really interact, the “protection” part of him comes off as creepy and I just couldn’t get over it for the whole book. It felt weird for him to ask about if he’d be a good dad or not and even bring up the subject of babies with someone he was just getting to know….. He was too perfect, not a single flaw and that’s just not realistic. I was also shocked that their third act breakup was at 90% in the book and lasted only a few hours? Might as well have just left it out of the book.

I wanted to love this book so bad but the MMC just came off way too creepy and stalkerish for my comfort. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

DNF’d at ~50%

I really wanted to like this, but I just really couldn’t get into it. The writing was heavy on the telling, not showing. I also felt like some parts were fairly repetitive.

The setting of a workplace trip to Paris seemed like it would have a great plot line and a build up of the relationship of two coworkers. However, I felt like the “to lovers” was happening way too quickly with no real motivation. The main characters were described as not really having a relationship outside work acquaintances, but then they were holding hands and touching each other in a very familiar way. This didn’t feel like a realistic evolution from casual coworkers to “I want to kiss you so bad rn”

I appreciated the anxiety representation and the strength of overcoming a manipulative and verbally abusive relationship from Alana. I also liked that Alex (the MMC) was genuinely there for Alana (the FMC). Although, Alex’s mild obsession with Alana felt like a lot, especially since we didn’t see their friendship at the beginning beyond the drink/chocolate exchange.

Thank you, Bayleigh, for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 Stars!! Aaaah, I am so thankful to be apart of the ARC team and read Tied Together!

Alana and Ash has my whole heart. I loved their relationship, this book was so cute. This story has some of my favorite tropes, forced proximity, he's obsessed with her, Christmas??? *Chefs Kiss* I love how Alana persevered through her insecurities and just went for Ash. You go girl!

I'm literally obsessed with the Christmas traditions and I took a picture of the list for ideas so I write my own! Cami was one of my favs and I can't wait to read the story with her and Charlie. Charlie's mysterious personality definitely had me on edge and wanting to read his story.

I didn't realize this was a contemporary romance, so I was a little disappointed in the lack of spice in the story. I was waiting for the build up that never came which broke my spicy heart lol!! With spice, this book would've been an easy 5 stars for me!

So many things I loved about it. The healing the main characters get from past relationship trauma, the honest and open communication, NO third act break up.

The overall vibes 👌🏻

I really wanted to like this book. I liked the summary on the back of the book and decided to give it a try. I was frustrated if I read the book for too long, but it was hard giving the book up all of the same.

I was unable to finish because all of the characters, except Charlie and Alana's ex-boyfriend, sound like the same person. The author does a lot of telling for the characters, not a lot of showing. I also found the details of the plot unrealistic and a little worrisome. However, I do appreciate the playlist at the beginning of the book. I created a playlist for the last book I read and I appreciated that the author already had one made for Tied Together.

First, I find it hard to believe that Lana all of the sudden breaks up with her emotionally abusive boyfriend. She had been with him for 3 years. It usually takes A LOT of support and encouragement from family and friends for someone to break from a toxic relationship... and she did it on her own, which was admirable, but it's rare. And USUALLY people still need a lot of emotional support after the breakup. The fact that she was so independent afterwards didn't seem realistic.

Second, Alex, doesn't sound like a guy to me. He sounds like a supportive girl best friend. Reading his part actually made me feel smothered. He plays therapist and tries to fix all of her problems... it's icky. It's unhealthy. I find it hard to believe that he would love her if he didn't know her all that well. Also, the author repeats several times why he doesn't know her that well... from both FMC and MMC perspectives in almost the same exact wording "because she/I throws herself/myself into work". Ultimately, I found his character to be pretty flat, because everything he does seems to be centered around Alana. I don't know a whole much about him as a person other than he really likes Alana and tries to solve everyone's emotional problems.

Thirdly, the author does a lot of telling for the characters and not a lot of showing. She says the FMC "throws herself into work", but how? Does she skip her birthday plans to work? Does she have trouble sleeping at night and work at 3am? Does she have messages from her brother on her work phone she ignores? She notes that she listens, which is great, but give us a story about how intently she listens instead of telling us she is laser focused in the book. She overexplains they're reasoning for their actions.

I also had A REALLY HARD time with the MMC saying he helped his mom with anxiety and finding herself after his dad left. I think he was in middle school or high school when his dad left. No kid is going to be able to solve their parents anxiety issues.... if anything it just would have made it harder for the kid. I feel like flashbacks could have been really useful to describe how they developed into the person that they became and it would leave the reader on the edge of their seat and allow them to feel all of the feelings that the characters felt.

The MMC is just... too perfect in the sense that he fixes everything and has all the answers for her anxiety.. He has no flaws. I feel like he has no personality, because everything is built around him wooing Alana and trying to solve all of her problems. I felt Alana was a bit unrealistic in that she didn't want to go to Paris because it was the city of love. I feel like most adults (even ones that had been burned from love) would be excited to learn about the art and history of Paris/France, because it is so much more than the city of love. I'm not a French historian, but I'm sure it has a dark past. It's survived the Bulbonic Plague, the French Revolution and guillotines, not to mention the catacombs are spooky. I felt like her reasoning could have been better, but fear of flying and not wanting to leave her brother and best friend are good enough reasons.

Finally, I couldn't get behind the fact that they are Americans helping with a French magazine given that they don't really know the language or the culture. There is no way that any established business would put two employees in an apartment, especially of the opposite sex because this leaves a lot of room for sexual harassment and would leave the employer liable. And most unfortunately, I hope people would understand not to touch anyone the way Alex touches Alana. Outside of work, if they were getting to know each other personally, I think it would be okay, but even with the good intentions he has, that stuff would not fly in a work setting.
