Britney Louise had hit six foot at the age of twelve... an uncomfortable, big handed, big headed, heavy six foot. Compared to a group of average twelve year old girls in their skinny jeans and cute tops, Britney Louise felt like a carthorse. Ungainly and honest, Britney Louise is sent to a school full of rich, privileged young 'ladies' - the ladies of Liberty Ladies College. Outcast and alone, she walks the echoing corridors accompanied only by her dreams and the books she reads at lunchtime, while others talk. This is the story of her survival.
Amazing, amazing, amaxing! I felt every bit of emotion that Britney Louise felt right from the word go. Having to deal with bullying is just not right and the author has described every bit perfectly. I felt like I was a fly on the wall watching the book as it played out. I couldn't put this book down and will be recommending it to so many people. This book definitely needs to be read by high school students to see what a victim of.bullying can feel like. Thank you Christy for sharing your story. a very brave thing to do and I hope people learn from a story like yours.
Most say the words time well spent when speaking of reading a book. Unbreakable to me was time well invested. I tucked in and lived Britney Louise' journey as if it was my own. Her scars were my scars, her tears were literally my tears. Parents and teachers alike should read this book. Social media has changed how our children live, love and hate... We should get our heads out of the sand and pay attention to the changes in our children, to try and minimize or extinguish all forms of bullying.
As a teacher who sees bullying and as a teenager who experienced bullying myself, this book hits the nail on the head as to what it feels like, and what bullies can create. Unbreakable provokes the emotions. You will feel angry, disappointed, sad as well as find yourself giggling and barracking for Britney Louise and any other characters to come forward and break the cycle.
Unbreakable by Christy Heather Roberts is well worth the read - not only for the subject matter but also simply because Roberts is a talented writer. Her phrases, her descriptions, and her willingness to write honestly all add up to an effective book that puts you right in the middle of Britney Louise's chaos. Girls can be so mean, can't they? :( Unbreakable drops you into that "mean girl" world and makes you wonder - will Britney Louise really be unbreakable?
Loved this from start to finish, I could relate to so much of what Brittany Louise went through ..... This is defiantly on my re read list of books , Congrats Christy ,can't wait to read your next book
