Criptörök is a small collection of fiction that looks to understand the essential role of access workers within the digital space.
Looking at the labour of transcribers, captioners, and on-demand workforces, like mechanical Turks, the work challenges the assumption that accessibility happens behind the scenes and delves into the histories and futures of access work to understand the potential harms and injuries.

An exciting and wholly original, theoretically informed intervention into discussions of AI and accessibility. Criptörök asks, provocatively, not whether the nominal accessibility AI provides is worth the devaluation of human artists, but instead imbues the "automated" with a collective, ineffable consciousness of its own. It is through this lens that we are invited to meditate on transtemporality and multiplicity, on practices of stopping and gumming-up AI's orientation toward "efficiency," and think about technology as a rich and disambiguated dream-territory.
