What do you do when you find out your boyfriend is married?
This is the burning question on Nyx’s mind when faced with that devastating reality. An explosive reaction to the ultimate betrayal leaves her unbalanced—with a bitter outlook on love.
But just when she’s on the verge of giving up hope, life throws her a lifeline and a little bit of luck.
Skye Moon is an avid reader, writer, and accomplished independent author. Having published her first creative work at a very young age, she always felt destined to land in the literary industry.
Hailing from the seven cities area of Virginia, Skye has an English and Hospitality degree beneath her belt. Some of her favorite authors include Christina C. Jones, Johanna Lindsey, Desiree Granger, Kresley Cole, and many more. Her downtime is often spent consuming paranormal, true crime, and fantasy shows, complete with her favorite snacks.
When picking up one of her books, know that you'll always get characters who are unapologetically black, relatable, well-developed, and feel like family. She'll always transport you to cities rich in African American culture that you won't want to leave.
Nyx was preparing to celebrate her one year anniversary with the love of her life only to be doused in ice cold water when her best friend caught her boo in the store caking it with another woman. Well come to find out, it’s not just any woman it’s this 🥷’s wife!!! You heard me 🗣️HIS WIFE!!! Talk about devastated, Nyx didn’t know whether she was coming or going and while contemplating her next move, sis was outside these peoples house like Huck when he was watching his family from the living room window IYKYK!! After seeing red and her anger getting the best of her, a single moment of rage led to legal trouble and lies that ruined everything she worked hard for. Now she’s desperately trying to pick up what’s left of the pieces that make up her life and while doing so decides to wave the biggest middle finger in the face of love!
While Nyx’s life is in utter shambles, across town Jamie’s life isn’t going much better. He’s set to propose to his girlfriend of the past three years and sis turned him down like the radio in the car when you’re trying to follow driving directions. Now Jamie is left bitter and even more emotionally unavailable than what he was accused of while trying to come to grips with the harsh truths presented to him.
Love wasn’t getting no love in this book 😩😩 I know sis was quoting Nene Leakes big time “now why am I in it?!” 😂😂 because she was to blame for everything. Between Nyx and Jamie, they weren’t fkn with Love at all and in the midst of creating a “we hate love” club, they formed a friendship and a bond that was like no other. This was a slow burn but the best kind because you really got to read about this couple going from nothing to the best parts of something. I found myself blushing and cheesing during several moments in this book and even though I really wanted Shane to pay in the worst way for all he put Nyx through, the story was the perfect mix of drama, romance and everything in between.
Nyx and Jamie’s journey to trusting and letting go of the past was so refreshing and I loved every moment of their chemistry and witty banter. Despite being linked to other books, you can read this as a standalone!
You never know who you'll meet and fall in love with. Although Nix had the scars to prove love isn't always a cake walk, she also benefits from a second chance with a real one. Brighton Bay sounds like a great place to look for said lover.
Imagine finding out that you are not only a side chick, but that your boyfriend is married with child, on your one-year anniversary no less!! 🤯 Nyx is devastated and allowed her anger to get her into some ish that has derailed her dreams. While trying to pick up the pieces, she goes on a blind date that ends with plates flying and police activity. 👀 Nyx chucks the deuces to love and commits to leaving anything that has to do with it in her rearview.
Jamie is preparing to propose to his woman on this Valentine's night, but doubt is all over him. He pushes past his gut feeling, only to be let down in the end. 💔 Going to the local pub to nurse his wounds, he meets Nyx, as she is tending the bar. She is beautiful, and full of personality, but comes off as mean. This intrigues Jamie who is enjoying the banter with this fiery woman.
Nyx is cautious of Jamie as she doesn't trust men, but his unbothered, unfeeling demeanor, makes her curious about this stranger. As these two continue to bump into each other across town, and in the bar, they make a pact to be the CEO and the COO of the ain't no mo love club! 🤣 Their friendship starts off rocky as Nyx cannot get past the ish that happened with Chase. However, Jamie is steadfast in his pursuit of showing her how real mean behave. He is there for her at every turn, and she can't help but to believe that he is the real deal. I love how they were able to help each other overcome their insecurities and deal with parental issues. Along the way the friendship grew into more, and it was a beautiful thing to experience. 🥰 I slept on this read for a minute, and shame on me. I really enjoyed it. 👍🏿👍🏿
Now Skye, I so loved this book. Jamie and Nyx were just everything. I could go on and on, but if I do I would spoil it. Will we get a Judah and Rae? Or will we get a Xi and Linc?
Just Lucky N Love by Skye Moon: A Resilient Love Story with Depth and Authenticity
Just Lucky N Love by Skye Moon is a gripping tale that explores the aftermath of heartbreak and the unexpected turns that life can take. Nyx, facing the devastating revelation of her boyfriend's marriage, embodies a passionate and intense nature, resilient and adaptable. Jamie, sweet and laidback, radiates kindness and warmth, demonstrating a remarkable ability to rise above adversity. Jamie & Nyx came into each others lives and unknowingly flipped each others worlds on their axis (in the best possible way). I loved the banter between the two. They both deserved happiness and I enjoyed they both finally believing that and seeking it out for themselves.
I live for black romance! Skye Moon stays in her bag when it comes to giving us heartfelt, funny, and sexy romance. Just Lucky N Love is a beautiful love story of two people not sure if they ever want to find love , but end up finding friendship and so much more! I loved this story. Skye Moon is the romance girlie!!!
Damn Nyx have no luck in the men dept. I really don’t know if the second dude was on one but I get why she didn’t give the benny.
I honestly don’t think Kinsey said anything disrespectful until Jamie did with the comment about her opening her legs for the next man.
Mad respect to Jamie for his apology to Kinsley. They were not meant for each other and their ending didn’t go well but I’m glad he realized he didn’t handle it well.
The way Jamie defending Nyx to his mean ass rude ass mother was chefs kiss.
If I thought Shane had some damn nerves before, he really took it to the next level. I pray this and his ego is the catalyst for his downfall.
Screw his mothers apology. She was way out of line and if Nyx didn’t present her evidence she would not have gotten off her high horse.
I adored Jamie’s and Nyx’s relationship on every level. From the friendship it started with to the deep intimate and emotional bond. I know why Nyx stepped back but I wished she’d had more trust in him. Hopefully that time a part made them more appreciative of the love they share. They truly brought out the best in each other.
Rae, Xi, Linc and Judah were great supporting cast. In addition to seeing more of Nyx and Jamie’s journey, I’d love learn more about those four.
First time reading a book by this author. The story took awhile to build as we needed to meet the characters and see what was going on in their lives and what eventually brought them together.
I really enjoyed the banter with Nyx and Jamie and enjoyed how they built their friendship before they decided to be more.
I wished the focus was mainly on them as a couple but there was alot of background about his family life and hers, don't get me wrong its ok for us to know more about the characters and their family dynamics but I felt like it and the drama with her ex kind of took away from their story.
It was a bit of a slow burn as a they didnt get together until about 60% of the book but I enjoyed that aspect since they were building a friendship.
Overall I enjoyed it and plan to read another book by this author in the near future.
This was a cute story. Nyx and Jamie met at a time where they both were on the f love train and they developed a bond that was so organic that it was no surprise their thoughts on love changed after spending so much time together. They were so cute together and ended up being what each other needed. I enjoyed taking this journey with them and see them go from strangers to friends to lovers.
This is definitely what I would call a slow burn to love type of read. Sometimes those kinda of books can be a hit or miss base on story development and mood. However, I loved how Ms. Moon took her time and really showed the readers the foundational work into Nyx and Jamie friendship turn love. Nyx was for sure depth a crappie hand when it came to her ex but Jamie understanding and patience really allowed for.the space for them to grow to love. Nice read.
Jamie made this a five star read for me. I LOVED his character. Judah and Lincoln, too. I wasn't the hugest Nyx fan, but I could relate to her on a few levels, especially when it came to her initial outlook on relationships. The story had me locked in, it made me laugh, and the sex scenes were... well let's just say they were very well-written. LOL Just really enjoyed this overall.
I love the play on words with the title 😉 Nyx & Jamie were meant to be. Nyx went through hell & back & she ALMOST gave in but she was STRONG! James brought the better out in her as well as she did for him. They pushed one another to go for it & to let things flow. I love how they had a slow building live & they were able to get to know each other. Each bad thing needed to happen for growth & development for them both. Rae & Xi are true friends!
I loved the way they interacted with one another and how they went along with wherever the other was going in term of the running jokes. When he asked…” how are you the CEO and you don’t know the rules to your own organization“ I cracked up!
I love the way Skye writes and I’ve enjoyed every book!
I liked it. A book perfect for March. I have to assume there's going to be another book since we can't be left hanging not knowing what happened with Rae. I couldn't tell who Judah should be with Xi or Rae. Either way it shakes out, they all need a book.
All around good writing. Lincoln & Judah we’re great supporting cast and the relationship w/Jamie’s father really added depth to the read. And best of all the protagonists vibed, they had cool chemistry so it didn’t fall flat.
I love this, Nyx was so ugh sometimes but Jaime was so cute I loved his growth over the course of the book. I need to know what happens between the other future couples.
Book turned out to be really good read. Second chances are what life is made of. Sometimes we think one thing makes us happy until we are forced to look at the bigger picture. Nothing like finding the one that pulls those strings.
This is my 8th book by SM and she’s definitely becoming a comfort author! I have not been even a little bit disappointed by any of her books so far and this one was perfect to me!
I loved everything about Nyx and James from their random run-ins, to the nicknames and their general ease. They gave chance encounter.. when it’s meant to be you can’t escape it.. the right love will always find you! Their shared passions gave Love Jones vibes and that is my fav movie ever so that part of the storyline definitely hooked me. Dare I say I appreciated the 3rd act breakup because it actually brought something to the story!
I adored all of the supporting characters and the accountability in all of these grown people! All the parents showed up, the sibling and friend dynamics were solid, people apologized as needed. It really enhanced my enjoyment of the story!
This was such a good read. I’m not even mad at the 3rd act break up. These two were really just meant for each other. However, I need you to spin the block for me because that is not the end lol.
This was such a warm and sexy romance. Nyx and Jamie were just two people down on their luck in love and, in Nyx's case, in life as well. The genuine friendship they formed around their shared disdain for love was really cute. Their chemistry was so organic, so when feelings formed between them, it was not only believable, it felt earned. I loved every second of them together. Nyx irked me for a quick second, but she got herself together and got her man.
