A cynical alien, a weary woman, and a secret mission…

Disillusioned by the war, Celenk now uses the skills he learned for profit. He takes whatever jobs are offered, no questions asked. Infiltrate a remote farming community to gather information? No problem. Finding someone to act as his mate is a little more difficult - until a quiet little waitress catches his eye.

Lottie is tired of low pay, long hours, and the drudgery of her life in the city. When one of her customers offers her a chance to escape, she doesn’t hesitate - even if means pretending to be madly in love with a huge reptilian alien.

They know very little about each other, but the more time that they spend together, the less their relationship feels like an act. But Celenk still has a job to complete, one that means betraying the female, and the community, he’s beginning to love…

Each book in this series features a different couple and may be read as a standalone, but the books do link together. This sweet and steamy series is intended for mature readers.

Celenk and Lottie, I love the addition of this character with questionable motives! The fact that he has a huge protective vibe just makes him a total enigma who is in search of a purpose. Lottie was equally compelling, impulsively taking a chance on a stranger who stood up for her! The story unfolds a little pedantically, there are no huge explosions of action, but it's still an appealing and fun book to read! I'm also looking forward to reading Kalpar's story next!

Things are getting interesting for the aliens on the farm when an unscrupulous man in the city hires Celenk to do some secret surveying of their land. What does said unscrupulous man want with this information? Well, that remains to be seen. But he does want it and he's willing to do what needs to be done to get it. And by that I mean he's willing to hire men and aliens and send them out to the farm on the sly for (probably) nefarious reasons.

Celenk is one of those aliens. He doesn't know what his current boss wants and he isn't planning on finding out. He's going to go in, get the info, and get out. Then Lottie happens. She's sweet. She trusts him. And he likes her. A lot. More than a lot. Playing pretend mates isn't a hardship until it is. Because, you know Celenk might want more than just playing pretend.

On Lottie's end, she's hanging on by a thread and Celenk's offer to act as his pretend wife is a better offer than she's had in a long time. So she says yes and soon they're sharing space as they travel to their new (albeit temporary) home. It doesn't take long before sharing space leads to sharing other things. And along the way Lottie falls hard and fast for the big alien. Once they get to the farm, things just get more intense.

A little bending of the truth, a big-city man who wants the aliens' land (I think), a little danger, a, honorable ex-soldier who doesn't think he deserves the woman with him, and a woman who is smart enough to grab onto her future with both hands when it gets within reach. *thumbs up*

"He had fallen in love with his fake wife."

Celenk has accepted a job that sounds easy if a bit suspicious, but he's not one to ask a lot of questions, that's part of why people hire him.

Lottie just lost her job, it wasn't a great job, but it paid the rent, and that counts for a lot. Celenk may not be a perfect being, but their first encounter showed him to be one with a good heart, who will help a stranger... is he worth taking a chance on, and risking extending a little trust to?

This done in one Kindle unlimited book takes a while letting the two main characters get to know one another as they journey to where Temel and the characters from the previous books are living on the farm. Once we get there we see another side of Celenk as he comes face to face with pieces of his past... and there are some interesting moments and scenes as not only is loyalty and betrayal explored, but so are more complex issues related to discovering we failed to see something that is right in front of us.

Many of the characters in this series are on journeys of emotional and mental healing, in ways that are relatable and compelling, through stories that offer hope... Celenk faces a moment when he can keep doing what he has always done, or, having met Lottie, he can choose a better path... and as a reader we see in him a character worth cheering and hoping for, even as we know he has further to go on his path to redemption and recovery.

As I said, it's a story that is relatable as well as entertaining.

Every book brings the mystery closer !!

Another great story about these former warriors and the women who love them !!
Lottie is a waitress in a small pub in Port Cantor, and on this particular day, she gains some unwanted attention from unscrupulous males.
Celenk, is now a mercenary instead of a former intelligence officer when he was in the useless war . Those days are over, but they have changed him into someone that he doesn't recognize. On this particular day , he us offered a job. This job doesn't hurt females or young ones, so he is okay with it . Except he needs to noise as a couple.
Hmmm.
He finds himself in a pub for a quick drink. But it turns swiftly into a situation.
A situation that he may just be able to work out in his favour !!
The problems arise when he actually develops ," feelings " , for his fake companion !!
This story us a very easy read , that also moves thus series forward . It has some action, and cute animals, and a lot of the previous friends from this new community on the other side of Wainwright. I enjoyed the continuation of the mystery and seeing old friends, as well as the beauty and majesty of the country side . Looking forward to the next story in this series !!!

Wow! This book! The characters! Wonderful!
Lottie is human and sweet, forgiving, but strong in character. She's from the city but not afraid of hard work that a farm demands. She pretends to be the wife of Celenk so he can take a job on a ranch that requires married men.
Celenk is an alien with scales and tale. He's haunted by the what he had to do during the war. He believed he was unworthy of love, family and a mate. He takes a job to survey land for a man who has his hand in illegal activities in the city, but needs a wife. As he got Lottie fired indirectly, he decided tomoffer her a job as his pretend wife.
As they spend time together, things get steamy between them and they fall in love. They must tell their new friends the truth and face danger that comes their way from Celenk boss.
I loved this book. The characters are wonderful, there's characters from previous books that makes an appearance. Also, there's steam, friendships, love, danger, adventure and action with a HEA for Lottie and Celenk.

One of my favorites in the series💖

Celenk is a mercenary left over from the war. He's been hired by a nefarious individual to survey the land that commander Temel has painstaking started d to rebuild for any warrior from b the war who needs to start over. The only thing he needs is a human wife and that's when he meets Lottie. Lottie has been taking care if herself since her grandfather died. She's working at a tavern but she knows this way of life is not what she really wants. In a dangerous moment she meets Celenk and he offers her a job and a way out that she just can't refuse. As they get to know each other feelings they didn't expect grow like wildfire! As theY begin to build a life together his mission becomes second to the love he has growing in his heart. will he loose Little and the family he has come to care for or will they forgive him and open their hearts. You need to read and find out. Highly recommend so good the characters have amazing chemistry and the over arching storyline progresses and leaves us wanting more!🔥💖🔥🌟💖🔥💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟🔥🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟

(This review is really for the whole series because, OMG, I couldn't stop reading.)

If you’re a fan of westerns with some spice and the MMC is an alien instead of human, then this is the series for you. Each of these books is about a human female who meets/pairs with one of a group of aliens who are healing from their own war wounds. They are working the land on an earth-like planet and the women are likewise trying to figure out their lives.

Initially, I wondered how many different storylines you could come up along the same theme. Well, Honey Phillips doesn’t disappoint.

Each story is as individual as the MMC and MFC that fall in love. And when I say, I couldn’t put the books (ebooks) down, I am not lying. I read through the whole series over the course of a weekend and then waited impatiently for #7 to be released in June.

Each of the characters is endearing and fallible and wounded. I found myself rooting for each and every one of them. I have the release date for number 8 in my calendar and I can hardly wait!

I’m always happy to return to Cresca and the wonderful aliens and humans who live there! In this new installment, we meet Celenk and Lottie. Lottie needs rescuing, and Celenk just happens to be on hand and willing. Conveniently, Celenk could use a rescuer, too, and Lottie is able to return the favor. I love the feisty heroines and dry humor in all of Honey’s series, but these two are a little extra special. Celenk is broken in so many ways, as are all the warriors in this series. He has a moral code, though, which he won’t violate. Oh, and he has a tail with a mind of its own! (Totally made me think he might be related to the Cire!) There is understanding and steamy attraction between Lottie and Celenk, and it blooms into love while surviving some challenges, including more threats against the farm. There are villains, too, and the warriors are there to save the day! I enjoyed revisiting some of my favorite warriors on the farm, and meeting a few new characters, including Raja, Lottie’s pet kedji. Kalpar’s story should be very interesting! Love this series!!

Sci-fi western serial at its best

I remember lazy Saturday mornings watching Audie Murphy Western cinema and this series brings back all of those fond memories. There was also Gunsmoke and the Rifleman as well as the Big Valley which was definitely a favorite series of mine.

I really get a kick out of reading these serials with their alien twist. Not all the westerns in the past had either squeaky clean or totally villainous characters which showed the depth of even the writing back then to show us the morally grey characters trying to change their lives from the past.

I’m now looking forward to Kalpar’s story next as the mysterious plot thickens and he takes the fight to Port Cantor and Marshall himself. I believe I know whom he will become romantically attached to and can’t wait.

These are fun short reads the are great for when you may have limited time to read and are very engaging.

Hired on to infiltrate a farming community owned by Alliance warriors his job is to survey their land? Karthikan mercenary Celenk needs just one more thing to make his ruse believable, a human mate.
Waitress Lottie needs a new life, which finds her when Celenk saves her from danger, and then offers her the job of being his fake wife, a chance for a big payoff. Lottie accepts the offer, and grabs the tiger by the tail, Oops, reptilian!
I enjoyed this sweet, and wonderful story as their relationship slowly evolved into more than just a fake working one. Celenk soon has to make some difficult choices about what is really important, the new friends he makes, the love found with Lottie or his secrets.
A richly written, spicy, and heartfelt story became another joy of a read in the series.

I love this series. Each story is unique. Each warrior has his own journey for redemption.
Loved Celenk's remark about Raja and Lottie's reaction. Priceless. I also loved the way he "assisted" Lottie in getting to sleep.
This is a standalone but has a very interesting back story, so should be read in order. It will also help with recognizing the other characters. The back story is getting more clear.
Lots of steam to the romance.
Loved the determination of Lottie in making Celenk realize he is important. He feels he is unhealable, especially with what he has agreed to do. Betrayal is hard to come back from. But with persistence (and I love the way she did that) he slowly begins to heal.
As always a well deserved HEA for the couple. I loved reading their journey .

I liked this book much more than the last. Celenk is a ex soldier turned mercenary and has been tasted with going to the farm to spy on them for unknown reasons. But to blend in he needs a human wife. He happens to save Lottie from assault by guards and she agrees to go with him. Her little rodent creature called Raja goes with and Celenk warms up to him very quickly. I found that whole interaction super cute. Lottie and Celenk “practice” being married but both fall for it themselves. She helps him through a PTSD episode and between her and the aliens on the farm, he learns that he’s lovable. I actually really liked the ending where he went to the males for help and they not only understood his change of heart but rode out to help. I really like Kalpar. I’ve been curious about him since the first book and I’m looking forward to his.

I really enjoyed this story. I connected with Celenk, probably because he reminds me of Honey's Cire Warriors. (Insert winky face.) Team tail. IYKYK! His character did some growing in this book and I loved that. Lottie is a sweet and fun FMC and I loved her little pet.

You should read this book because...
***The Tropes! Forced Proximity, Fake Relationship, He Falls First, SFR
***Love Honey's furry companions! Now I want a kedji!
***Celenk… reminds me of a Cire Warrior. I. Am. Here. For. It!
***Lots of spice in this one! It totally got me.
***I loved that we were on the farm with everyone from previous stories.
***Perfectly sweet and spicy with a great HEA. <3

Loved this book! I was totally in my feels with Celenk.

I love this unexpected romance!
What a fun series this is! Lottie has taken an opportunity to get out of Port Cantor where she no longer feels safe. Celenk wants her to pretend to be his wife when they reach their destination. Practicing pretending to be a married couple can be lots of fun! We have another ‘happy tail’ type of male. Yes, he finds creative uses for that appendage. I love seeing the transformation in Celenk as he finds himself in love with Lottie. They make a most delightful couple. Just wait until you meet Raja - he’s a charmer, and very protective. All in all, a first class romance.

These How The Alien's Were Won Series just keeps getting better and better. I absolutely adored Celenk...the book and the character. He is such a troubled soul but when he meets Lottie healing begins. Lottie is so lost and alone until she meets Celenk. Their journey to each other has some difficulties and rough moments but they get their HEA. I can't wait to find out what Marshall is up to! I can't wait for Kalpar's story. These are such fun. I love Honey Phillips and her take on my favorite stories. I love the characters she peoples her worlds with. I love the worlds she creates. I love her vision. I highly recommend not only this book but all of her books. 5+

Lottie has lost so much. Her grandparents and then her inheritance was stolen by her nasty ex-husband when he left her with his debts. On her way to work she's accosted by three soldiers but she escapes. They find her at work and try to drag her out when Celenk steps in.
Celenk, a broken warrior, takes on a survey job that requires a wife. One can be provided but he's met the one he'd like to 'hire.'.. Lottie.
This is a slow burn, getting to know each other story and it's steamy. But Honey is know for sneaky plot twists and adds in danger, a rodent, friends, secrets and more. Enjoy.

“Frigid? My flower, you are the most delightfully passionate, responsive female that I have ever encountered.”

I really loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I love the fake relationship trope, so this was fun. Lottie and Celenk's first meeting was exciting and I liked how he immediately stepped in to help her- and make sure she got her wages. It was impossible for me not to like him from that moment on. I enjoyed the way they grew closer the more time they spent together. There was danger and suspense. I loved seeing the familiar faces. A very fun adventure. 5 stars.

The covers are so, so bad but I can't stop reading these. This one confirms that I love a lizard man hero, and that fluffy adorable animals are secretly vicious (there's a tiny marsupial rodent in this one). I liked that this one spent more time with the hero & heroine alone together rather than trying to involve everyone on the ranch in their love story. Celenk took a while to come to his senses re: love, as they all have, and was the real focus of the story, IMO. Lottie was very patient, but other than being both worldly and naive at the same time I didn't really get a good sense of her personality?

The next book sounds good, and there's another quick tease for H'zim.

After the war, Celenk takes jobs that may be on the dark side. For his next job, he needs a fake wife which is where Lottie comes into his life. He saves Lottie from some unscrupulous guards, she gets fired then he offers her the job although he doesn't explain what the job entails. On their way to their destination, they become closer and closer and fall for each other. As Celenk's feelings for Lottie grow, he wonders can he have it all - job, wife and love. This is another brilliant story in this series with absolutely wonderful characters and steamy romance with lots of action and adventure. (P.S. Tomlin continues to one of my favorite characters so I hope he gets his own story.)

This is Book 5 of How the Aliens Were Won starring Celenk and Lottie. WOW that starred off with a fright and ends with a match made in perfect harmony. I have to say I kept telling Celenk to tell Lottie the truth and was surprised when he does finally tell her. I thought for sure he wouldn’t. I also loved how the Alien males of this land protect not only the females but also the males that find themselves looking for something more after the War.

This time I was quick off the mark and grabbed this next book from this lovely author. Her books are always a joy to read and just love her characters. This series has been so enjoyable to date and always look forward to more reading by this author.
In this book, we meet Charlotte and Celenk. He's on a mission and she's in a boring job. Wanting more in life. His job is to get information and they form a 'pretend' relationship that develops into more.
I was lucky to wake up and see the alert for this arc and only too excited to read and review.

Loved this scenario of them each saving the other. Enjoyed the characters and the fact he felt finally able to feel at home with friends and open up about his past experiences with the war and coming to peace with his actions. Liked Lottie, as she wasn’t afraid of hard work, but needs to feel safe and be wanted and loved. Good turn out in the end, but I like how this storyline is left open in the end with Kalpar seeking answers for the truth behind all the surveying.

No matter how you slice it, betrayal is betrayal. Lottie gets knocked down so many times, but she always manages to pull herself up. When a stranger defends her honor, she sees a means to an end.

Celenk is troubled by his past and feels like he doesn't deserve all that Lottie offers. When truths come to the forefront, he puts everything he cares for in jeopardy.

I think this is the best in this series.....so far. Honey has a unique way of luring you in. Each troubled male fight their own demons, and with the love of a good women find a way to heal them both. With a HEA 💜

Imposter

I don’t know exactly what happened but the writer is not honey Phillips. This is an imposter with very weak writing. The story itself was decent however the heroine has no personality. Celent was like every other warrior feeling unworthy and undeserving of her love. Understandable because of the war I guess but this chick has no personality at all. And who decided that a tail in intimate scenes is acceptable. All I can think about is a tail dragging on the floor and then being used… Wow. I gave this one a four-star because it was lacking.

3.7/5

I liked Lottie and I loved that most of the book was them getting to the farm and falling in love. Their relationship didn’t real rushed like most of these alien romance books do.

And Celenk was totally fine. No issues.

Fluff. Alien. Alien peen (cock pocket. Unfurls. Codix. Thing ring at the base with tendrils. Knot). Low angst. No OWD/OMD. Lizard man Traumatized warrior MMC with a tail. Subterfuge. Divorcée FMC. Fake relationship. Knotting. Tail play. Tail in ass. No cheating. No breakup.

Epilogue 6 months later (on Christmas) and pregnant.

Honey Phillips has done her thing again! I absolutely adored Celenk, our sweet, protective, “broken mercenary. Him and Lottie were the perfect pairing… and then little Raja was a cute little surprise. I love this world that Honey continues to create for us. Such a unique and creative book… that illustrates how true love can heal wounds and I enjoyed reading that play out between our “fake” couple! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

What a Sweet Tail!

Celenk is book 5 in the How the Aliens Were Won series. If you are looking for a great binge read with quick and entertaining stories my reading order recommendation is…
1. Honey Phillips’ Seven Brides for Seven Alien Brothers series.
2. You’ve Got Alien Trouble is a novella that should be read before the next series.
3. Then, the How the Aliens Were Won series.
All these books take place in the same world and some of the characters, locations and references from the Seven Brides books carry through all of these books. Read each series in the suggested order on Amazon.

Celenk is a sweet, spicy, adventurous story with a fake marriage, a sexy morally grey alpha alien, a sassy, strong and determined human woman, some betrayal and redemption and the cutest little pet named Raja. I highly recommend!

Lottie and Celenk

Oh yes! I loved this book. It had it all: secrets, love, found friends and a home, and a cute pet as well. I instantly liked Lottie and Celenk was quite a departure from the other stories as he had tons of secrets and wasn’t part of the original group. This book also gave a little more insight into Kalper and I have to say- I’m looking forward to seeing where his story will go. And the woman he will end up with. I absolutely can’t wait for that!
