For better or for worse. Through sickness and in health. Two feuding roommates trap themselves in a marriage of convenience, for richer or for poorer—but hopefully for richer.
After years at a soul-sucking office job, Whitney Rhodes is finally ready to chase her dream of opening her own salon. The only problem? she can't quite afford to be a dreamer right now. That is until she receives an unexpected call about an inheritance from a grandmother she never knew. Her home life is complicated, her love life on hiatus, but her dreams are finally within reach. The only catch? to secure the inheritance, she has to get married—and fast.
Liam Clark has officially hit rock bottom. Dropped out of school? Check. Working a dead-end job? Check. Moving in with a quirky, annoying, and worst of all, unnervingly attractive woman? Check. Mourning the recent loss of his best friend, he’s definitely not in the mood to get close to anyone, and his new roommate is no exception. But he soon realizes he can’t run away forever, and when he decides exactly how to give his life meaning, he also discovers he needs a truckload of cash to do it.
To solve both their problems, Whitney and Liam strike up a mutually beneficial, strictly business arrangement that happens to involve two rings and an altar. Every marriage requires sacrifice, even a fake one, but with their pasts coming back to haunt them and their futures on standby, something is smoldering under the surface—and they’re not sure if it’s love or hate.
After all, ‘till death do us part’ is only temporary.
First of all I’d like to thank the author and Booksprout for providing me with a free e-arc of this book. In general, I liked this book quite a a lot, as it did the fake-marriage trope very well without the typical storyline! Even though I had my doubts in the beginning, as it had actual texts printed as if it was in a chat, which is not my favorite, the longer I waited the better the story got. I loved the way the book is written, I especially loved the character and relationship development and also the ending was a big hit!
All in all an amazing book! AND a big recommendation from me!
A little uneven for me, but the bones of a great book are there. I love a good marriage of convenience romance, so the concept of a strangers to roommates to unexpected spouses romance definitely intrigued me. And it started off strong - I loved that they clashed immediately, but found themselves entering into a marriage because it would benefit them both. Our hero is a bit of a jerk at the beginning, but the reader understands that he’s hurting and I couldn’t wait to dig into some of the deeper (potentially triggering) elements. However, this relationship focused more on the lust, staying sexual until very late in the story and failing to show a strong emotional connection. The bumps of the third act conflict cemented my 3-star rating, but there was a lot of good stuff along the way.
The story follows Whitney, a woman whose flaky roommate moves out without notice - and offers the place to a man Whitney has never met. Whitney isn’t sure what to think about her new moody, British roommate, but she tries to avoid him as much as possible. That is, until Liam overhears that Whitney is searching for a husband to enter into a marriage of convenience, and he thinks he might be perfect for the role. What’s a little marriage between roommates, anyway? But it doesn’t take long before Liam and Whitney’s relationship begins to shift, as these two strangers get to know each other better. Until suddenly, their marriage doesn’t feel fake at all.
I really enjoyed Harriet’s debut, so I was delighted to discover that her sophomore effort features some of my favorite tropes. I love a misunderstood, broody man, I love a “he falls first” scenario, roommates romances are great, and a fake marriage is even better. So this had a lot going for it, and I liked the foundation. There were some missed opportunities though. I wanted these two to actually communicate at some point, but it felt like Whitney was content to just make assumptions the whole book. I get that her background made her hesitant to open up, but she is set on not giving Liam a chance. He’s not in a hurry to open up either, so they stay in a lust-focused place for quite awhile. Their first few hookups mostly took place when Whitney wasn’t entirely sober, and that rubbed me the wrong way too. So I was enjoying this to an extent (but not fully connecting), until the messy third act. I didn’t think the conflict was needed at all - these two had other issues they still needed to work out, they didn’t need one more. Ultimately, there was a lot that I liked, but room for improvement in other places.
This was such a cute, spicy, and swoony read. Loved the marriage of convenience and grumpy/sunshine tropes! Liam and Whit were both well written and I loved how realistic they were in their ambitions. I love Liam’s development throughout the book and how he made every effort to improve himself. The grief and mental health rep was done well and I really loved the romance between these two. The writing style was very easy to follow and I loved the banter and touch of humor. I wasn’t a huge fan of the third act “breakup” but it did resolve in a good way. The only thing is I wish there were more emotional connection between the two since some of it felt a bit more physical. The buildup wouldve made the story more enjoyable. But I would love to read the author’s future works because this was such a great romance novel overall.
Many thanks to the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Something Forever is a steamy, instalust, enemies-to-lovers, grumpy-sunshine, roommates to marriage of convenience romance. Whitney is a strong and sassy female who just quit her toxic job, which is very out of character for her. Then, her roommate tells her she's leaving and has sublet to Liam. Liam is a strong, hunky guy touring the loss of his best friend Luke. When Whitney finds out she has an inheritance from her grandma, but has strings attached to get it, like being married for three years...she propositions Liam, who would like to start a charity Luke had envisioned.
Overall, I did like these characters and the story. I will say the physical chemistry was hot, but I wasn't feeling the emotional connection as much. I really loved Liam's character, and we do end on a happy note after some angst. 3.5☆s for me.

Another adorable yet spicy romance by Rachael! I love love loved Rachael’s debut novel, so I was super excited and thankful to get my hands on an early copy of her next romance! Something Forever is full of can’t-miss tropes, banter, and character growth. Liam is the perfect grumpy, tattooed, secretly-emotional mmc. I loved spending time with him and watching him overcome his grief and become his own person. Whit is a headstrong, yet silly fmc that you’ll easily love. While I think the book could’ve been a bit longer to really establish Whit and Liam’s emotional connection, I did really enjoy this, and I can’t wait to see what Rachael does next!
4.5 ⭐s No one ever said the path to true love wouldn't have some rocky places along the way.
Whitney doesn't believe in making rash decisions. She believes that having structure, stability, and reliability are the guidelines for her life. So far, so good. That is, until she suddenly quits her job as office manager at a tech start-up company. The reliability of the job, along with the pay and benefits, kept her there. But the toxic work environment, with a boss who hates women, and the sexual harasser who's becoming a real menace finally make her realize that she's had enough.
She returns home to find that her roommate is leaving. She sublet her space to some guy who's "the best!" Now Whitney is not only worried about having some random guy moving in, but also her finances. Her dream is to open a hair salon. As a child, her mom would drop her off at a strip mall while she worked. Whitney felt welcomed and comfortable sitting in beauty shops. She wants to give other women the looks of joy she saw in those shops after having their hair or makeup done.
Then the phone rang. An attorney informs her of the death of her grandmother, a grandmother she never knew existed, and she's to receive an inheritance of one million dollars. There are strings attached. First she must be married, and then she must remain married for three years to receive the entire amount of the money.
She wonders what her grandparents had done for her mother to have left them. Why hadn't her mother ever told her about them? Whitney had had a pretty insecure childhood. They often had to scrounge for money, and her mother would have her hustle drunks in dive bars by playing pool. Just when she'd begin to think that maybe this time she could fit in and make some friends, her mother would load the van and they'd move again. She understood that her mother was a free spirit and wanted adventures. But she's always craved to have security and the feeling of belonging. She wants someone to choose her as the one they love and want to be with.
Liam dropped out of the master's degree program after the death of his roommate Luke. He had recently visited Luke's father and learned that Luke had plans for starting a foundation. It would focus on tutoring and helping students find scholarship opportunities, especially low-income and first-generation students who would like to pursue a higher education but lack the money to do so. This is how he'd honor Luke and maybe ease his guilt about Luke's death.
Two strangers married for money. Both plan to use the money to make people happy. Both have their own insecurities, but just when they each begin to believe that they've found love and can make this marriage work, in steps her toxic mother...

I’m writing this review while it is fresh in my mind, because I started it and didn’t put it down until it was finished. I was hooked from the first page and loved how the author created a solid personality for Whitney from the get-go. Reading from her first-person POV lets us into the tumult she is going through at her uncharacteristic actions, and leaves us rooting for her, and has our jaw dropping with each new development of her day. I’m not gonna lie, I was iffy with Liam and his attitude at first, but he very quickly burrowed himself into my good graces and then had me swooning and making moon-eyes. I loved the side characters, especially Abbi and Andy. They were incredibly important to the plot, in my opinion, and I love how their personalities complimented the main character’s and balanced everything out. As a reader, I knew there had to be a big issue apart from just the constant smaller long-term problems Liam and Whitney were facing, but holy smokes if it still didn’t smack me in the face and leave me seething! I loved the conclusion to the story, and the love that Liam and Whitney finally trusted themselves to give and show to one another. The majority of it was TENSE, so when they finally started letting each other in and showing natural affection, I was really giddy.
I didn’t give a full 5 stars because I wish the money/inheritance was explained better in regard to the payouts and how those worked.
The spice was GREAT and the characters were lovable, despite their underlying traumas. Overall, charming, exciting, and a great read!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Cute, fun, and spicy marriage of convenience with mental health and grief rep. Rachel did a great job showing Liams grief and his journey recovering from losing his best friend. I loved how the relationship with Whitney and Liam developed and their banter was fun.
Side note: Liam's birthday is April 21st (taurus)- the same as my husband's + I am a Virgo like Whitney. 😬
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲: ✨️ Marriage of Convenience ✨ Grumpy x Sunshine ✨ Enemies to Lovers ✨ Only One Bed ✨ MMC Tattoo'd British Bad Boy ✨️ "My Wife" ✨️ Dual POV
This was SUCH a good book! When I first saw the cover I knew I had to read it - I LOVE a purple book and I LOVE an Ink and Laurel cover!!! Marriage of convenience, enemies to lovers, grump x sunshine?? It was the perfect combination and I honestly loved every second!!
Whitney and Liam’s not to meet cute to marriage of convenience was amazing. They did NOT get along and then they were agreeing to get married?? Chaotic in the best way. But they also fell SO hard. It was slow and they definitely acted on attraction first. But of course as they got to know each other and were able to open and vulnerable all their FEELINGS got in the way of their no strings attached agreement.
I also really loved they were able to chase their dreams. I really loved Liam’s journey. He was SO sad it wasn’t easy to watch him struggling, but once he got started on trying to honor Luke and then eventually realizing he had to follow HIS dreams was written so well. His grief snd healing journey was done so well, I loved seeing his story. And Whitney!! I loved her story too. Her mother was the bane of my existence, and obviously Whitney’s too a little bit! But I really loved that Whitney was able to move past some of things that she inherited from her mom, and finally be able to live HER own life.
And the two of them TOGETHER! They were honestly so perfect. Even right away when they were fighting, and then when they were fighting their FEELINGS! And they were FUN together! And they were also so so SO SOFT! I loved that they could be like with each other! They both desperately needed a soft place to land!
I think Rachael has another book out that I’m going to have to go read!! And I can’t wait for whatever is next!!
I really wanted to love this, but something about the characters just fell a little short for me. I didn't like either of them, so it made it hard to root for their story - AND the hero seemed a hot mess, which is kind of a turn-off for me when it comes to successful-driven women.
This might be one of my favorite books of all time! It had all my favorite tropes, and the writing was fantastic! I love a good grumpy sunshine, marriage of convenience, he falls first romance story. Liam and Whitney's story was amazing, and I loved watching Liam grow as the story progressed. Their chemistry and spicy scenes were 🔥 🥵
5 star rating, thanks to Rachel Harriet and booksprout for an advanced copy for my honest review.
• This book ☺️☺️☺️ I loved it so so much. The 2 MCs are just so perfect.
• Whitney, adore this chick. When we meet her, her life is just a little bit of a dumpster fire. A trifecta of unfortunate things, and it happens all at once. She is a super structured and organized gal, but that all changes quickly. One of the things sprung on her, a new roommate. Liam. Oh Liam, this bad boy, but also total sweetheart. He’s dealing with a past loss, that has truly affected his life. When circumstances have them making a huge decision that should end up benefiting them both, and it does. Just maybe in a way that they weren’t expecting. What a ride. I was hooked for every minute of it, so good 👏
• I seriously smashed this book. I was so happy with every aspect. I already told Rachael she has a new fan in me. And now I need to go read 𝕃𝕠𝕧𝕖 𝕄𝕒𝕣𝕜𝕤!
Something Forever follows Whitney, who dreams of escaping her draining office job to open her own salon but lacks the funds. An unexpected inheritance from a grandmother she never knew offers a solution, with one significant catch: she must marry to claim it. Enter Liam, who, reeling from personal setbacks and his best friend's death, also needs money to pursue a meaningful goal. They agree to a fake marriage for mutual benefit, but as they navigate their complicated pasts and uncertain futures, their relationship begins to blur the line between love and hate.
Marriage of convenience is not a trope I’ve read much, but the premise of this book was too intriguing to pass up. While I found the story fun, I did feel it was somewhat rushed and shallow, leaving me entertained but not deeply invested in the characters or their journey.
Whitney, the female lead, was ambitious and driven but also came across as rash and childish at times. Liam, on the other hand, was an interesting male lead. His journey through grief was touching, but it only scratched the surface. This storyline had the potential to be emotionally deeper and richer, but it just didn’t get there.
The book also featured a lot of family drama and some miscommunication in the third act, which detracted from the overall enjoyment for me. However, it was a nice, easy read and offered a different take on the classic marriage of convenience trope.
I received a free copy of this book from the author via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.
What a beautiful story! From unexpected roommates to a fake relationship but legal wedding to falling in love to forever.
This book had some unexpected twists in it and I liked that the third act split was an outside force not 100 percent the couple just failing to talk to each other (even though there was some of that too lol)
The end of the story and into the epilogue, which wrapped up the story so perfectly, just fit.
A beautiful story of meeting the love of your life under the most unusual circumstances!
Liam and Whitney fit so beautifully together and I loved that she helped him come out of his shell of grief just by letting him in and letting him be himself as he proceeded to walk the healing path of grief.
Marriage of convenience isn't a trope I typically go for, but I thought, why not give it a shot? :) While the story was enjoyable, I found that it moved too quickly and lacked depth, which left me entertained but not fully connected to the characters or their development.
Whitney, the protagonist, came across as ambitious and determined, but her impulsiveness and occasional immaturity took away from her character. I didn’t really connect with her. :( On the other hand, I found Liam's character to have much more depth, and I enjoyed his journey a lot more than Whitney's.
The family drama, especially the toxic mother, didn’t sit well with me, and the miscommunication in the third act was frustrating. However, despite these issues, it was a light, easy read and, overall, an enjoyable story.
A sudden inheritance knocks Whit (Whitney) Rhodes for six, after just quitting her job to finally try to pursue her dream of her own salon. She gets home to find out her roommate is leaving and has arranged for someone to take over her rent, but it is a bloke, something Whit definitely doesn’t want. She finds her new roommate is Liam Clark and he seems to be a really grumpy guy who basically ignores her! He dropped out of grad school after his roommate and best friend died suddenly and has ended up in a dead-end job as a bartender, not even telling his parents about any of this. He lost the place they had been living in due to stopping his course and so needed somewhere cheap to stay. Whit got a call that a grandmother she never even knew, due to her mother’s free-spirited lifestyle dragging her all over the country, and it seems Whit has inherited a million dollars. The only catch is that she needs to be married and has to stay married for three years, with the inheritance being paid out in three instalments. Liam can’t help but hear her conversation as the walls of the flat are quite thin. He doesn’t exactly want to be close to anyone after all he has had to deal with in the last six months, but his roommate is very attractive, if not quirky and really annoying! He thinks he could make her a deal that would be mutually beneficial and use some of that money to do something in his friend’s name.
Whit is shocked when he approaches her with this idea, but it seems it is the only way she can get the money and be able to follow her dreams. Her absent mother hears about her news and of course comes around wanting money from her to pay a bail bond for her latest fellow, saying Whitney owes her for all she did raising her! Never mind the fact she never even told Whit she had a grandmother. If she doesn’t follow the rules of her inheritance, then someone else will get the money and will do all they can to break Whit and Liam apart, to get it all for themselves! They run off to get married and then return to being roommates, but start to get feelings for the other, not that they could actually mention it to the other. That is the beginning of their problems and not communicating when their feelings changed, even after sleeping together, is sure to be a death knoll to their fake marriage. Lots of ups and downs, with revelations about their pasts which allow them to understand each other better, but will it be enough? Someone else will put an oar into their relationship just as their marriage was becoming real. Early days, but when fake facts are pushed upon you, it is easy to believe that they are true, and the hurt is all real. Starts out as a fake marriage between reluctant roomies and is turning into reality as they spend more time together, but problems will start to pull at their fragile relationship, and they will have to overcome the interference of others to get back together to their HEA.
I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout, and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
From page 1 I was hooked. This book gives you fun flirty banter and steamy tension! And let’s be real, a marriage of convenience trope is almost always a great read and this one does not disappoint
Whitney usually lives a very organized & structured life but all in 1 day, her life’s been flipped upside down with one thing after the other happening, one of those things being getting an unexpected new roommate, Liam. Liam is struggling with his grief, lost and searching for new purpose after losing his best friend/roommate.
Circumstances has Whit looking for a husband and Liam eager to take on that role. This marriage of convenience can help them both get their dreams. & maybe even more than they thought to dream of.
I loved watching the growth of these characters slowly go from immediate enemies to lovers so gradually and beautifully. And to see Liam’s character be pulled back layer by layer getting to know him at his core.
If “my wife my wife my wife” was a person it would be Liam

💍BOOK REVIEW💍 Something Forever by Rachael Harriet ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️/5 I truly think you cannot go wrong with a marriage of convenience story!!! This was such a fun take on the classic trope. The banter and tension between Whitney and Liam was so entertaining and when it turns into something more, it feels believable and you can’t help but cheer for them and hope for a HEA! It was so well-written overall and felt very polished, which I don’t always encounter with ARCs so I really appreciated that! I was really touched by Liam’s journey through his grief and felt that the author did a great job showing his growth through the process. When it comes to the climax of the story, I will say that I didn’t see it going in that direction! No spoilers, but I thought Whitney’s mother’s involvement in that whole mess was really creative and definitely threw me for a loop! I thoroughly enjoyed this and think you will too!

Thank you so much to Rachael for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I've read Harriet's other book (Love Marks) and loved her writing style so much that I was stoked to see she wrote another one. And she did NOT disappoint. Whitney and Liam are the exact thing you want in a couple: a feisty FMC and a brooding MMC with a British accent. Yes please.
No matter how far fetched this plot might've been (I mean, who the heck puts it in a clause that you must be married for 2 years in order to get the full amount of an inheritance... stupid grandmas, that's who!), the book was so delightful.
If you like marriage of convenience, grumpy/sunshine (although they can both be grumpy and sunshine so the role switches), only one bed (yes!!!), enemies to lovers (although maybe I'd call it reluctant roommates to lovers), and, of course, the fan favorite "get your hands off my wife." This was a joyful rollercoaster of Whitney and Liam's relationship. I loved every minute of it.
I'd 100% recommend to anyone who loves Emily Henry or Sarah Adams. This book was fun, flirty, and spicy (oh so spicy). Thanks to Harriet for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!.

Something Forever took ahold of my heart on the first page and did not let go! This was such a sweet story full of love and joy. A marriage of convenience trope is ALWAYS amazing, and this was no exception. Whitney and Liam have immediate chemistry, and I’m obsessed with the buildup throughout the story. Their forced proximity is brilliant and completely drives them together in all the best ways.
I especially love how vulnerable and in touch with his emotions Liam is. This story touches on the difficulties of mental health and grief, and it shows how recognizing those feelings is a strength, not a weakness. As we know, men’s mental health is often not spoken enough about. This story showed a strong, brave male character in Liam who has many emotions and shows them. It’s so important to have that representation, and I was such a huge fan of that aspect of the book.
Rachael Harriet does a beautiful job with this love story. It’s real, raw, and full of all the warm fuzzy feelings. It was an absolute delight to read and I can’t recommend it more.

I was kindly provided with this book (censorship is BS and I hate it but here we are!)
4.5 stars. Rachael Harriet knocks it out of the park again!
The plot - This is an enemies to lovers, roommates, grumpy x sunshine romance with marriage of convenience. Spice was like 3/5 on the spice scale and it’s a HEA. I would love to see more books set in this world! There are triggers so CHECK YA FUCKIN TRIGGERS PEOPLE. So glad I got to read this one just in time for release day! As I say, I read Love Marks by Ms Harriet a while back and loved it, so to get to ARC read her new baby? Obsessed.
The MC - Whitney was a headstrong, calculated, precise kinda woman; she’s a Virgo like me! I loved how we got to see her develop with and without that rigid structure, and she deserved her HEA 100%.
The male counterpart - Liam is my baby.. the man just can’t catch a damned break and I loved him. He’s grumpy, tattooed (thank the lord) and he’s also got a soft side so I’m all in! So glad he got his HEA.
This book had me hooked from the beginning and once I put it down, I couldn't wait until I could pick it back up again! I feel like I really connected the characters and could understand the hardships they were going through and how those situations shaped their interactions within the story.
Liam and Whitney's journey was such a fun ride and even though I felt like I knew how it would end; it didn't make it any less enjoyable. I thought the circumstances that caused the marriage of convenience were believable and the way their relationship developed wasn't written in an unrealistic way.
Definitely read this if you are a sucker for dirty talk because man, that really got me! It wasn't quite smut but definitely spicy and their scenes were hot to say the least. Also read this if you believe in friends to lovers and that love can always find a way no matter the circumstances.
I am so sooo glad I got to read this and definitely plan on getting a physical copy as soon as it's available! I can't wait to read more of Rachael's work!
From borrowed to forever - It was just supposed to be a business arrangement, but it turned into so much more. Whitney needed a husband to secure her inheritance from a grandmother she never knew. Liam needed capital to set up a memorial foundation in the name of a dear friend. Everything would have been fine if they had stopped noticing just how enticing their roommate / spouse was.
A fun story with loveable characters who feel like friends. The MCs have great chemistry and the author brings the heat for their intimate moments. Whitney's bestie Abbi is her biggest supporter throughout, her best and loudest cheerleader. Liam's parents are great, being shoulders to lean on for their boy even though their marriage fell apart years ago. They and their partners are Team Liam all the way! Sometimes a little sad (past tragedy), sometimes a little funny (his dad is a goofball), all the time good. A great introduction for me to Ms. Harriet, a new author to my TBR list.

I liked Liam and Whitney’s story. After years at a soul-sucking office job, Whitney Rhodes is finally ready to chase her dream of opening her own hair salon. But she can't quite afford to be a dreamer right now. Until she receives a call about an inheritance from a grandmother she never knew. But to secure the inheritance, she has to get married — and fast. A wedding might be the last thing on her mind, but it’s now the first on her to-do list. Liam Clark has officially hit rock bottom. Dropped out of school? Check. Working a dead-end job? Check. Moving in with a quirky, annoying, and worst of all, unnervingly attractive woman? Check. Mourning the recent loss of his best friend, he’s definitely not in the mood to get close to anyone, and his new roommate Whitney is no exception. But when he discovers she’s on track to inherit a million dollars, he forms a plan to strike up a mutually beneficial, strictly business arrangement that happens to involve two rings and an altar. An interesting read. And voluntarily leaving this review.

I really enjoyed this authors debut so I’ve been excited for this one! A tattooed, British hero and a sunshine-y heroine who recently makes some life changes to be happier. They end up being roommates despite not knowing each other and enter a marriage of convenience in order to get the inheritance she recently learned she has but needs to be married for. Both characters have backstories that help define how they interact with people in their current life. I think I would have liked to have seen more conversation between the two of them to discuss their pasts and overall. The shift from dislike to lovers I wasn’t totally convinced of emotionally. All the characters I found lovable and I cared for, including the side characters.
Looking forward to continue reading what this author writes!
💍 marriage of convenience 😠 dislike to lovers 🌤️ grumpy (him) / sunshine (her) 🏠 roommates 🛏️ only one bed 🤒 caretaking
This is my first book from Rachael Harriet and I absolutely enjoyed this book.
I rate this book a 4.5 and 2.5 spice level.
If you like: grumpy x sunshine, marriage of convenience, "my wife", enemies to lovers, force proximity, and he falls first tropes then I would highly recommend this book.
This was an enjoyable read with a lot of heart and I was instantly hooked from the start. I do admit I was a bit turned off by Liam initially but as the story progressed I definitely changed my mind quickly. I also was not expecting how deep this book was going to go- both characters having their own personal traumas that have in someway inhibit them from understanding their own self worth. This book made me feel for both of the characters (it was great that this was dual POV)- I swooned over Liam and cried when reading about Liam's uni days and Whit's relationship with her mom. Loved the character development for both characters as well.
Whitney never makes impulsive discussions until today, when out of the blue she quits her job. When she gets to her apartment her roommate is just leaving telling her she's has sublet to a man she knows. Suddenly Whitneys whole life is falling apart before her eyes. So when she finds out she had grandparents who she never knew about and she had inherited a vast amount she really thought she was dreaming. Liam's life was nothing like he expected, he was working in a bar, dropped out of college and now he was moving in with a stranger. Could his life get any weirder. Can these two help each other or will their pasts tear them apart. This is a well written story and deals with some difficult issues compassionately. Liams character comes across as lazy moody dropout, but underneath he so much more. I enjoyed this story and hope to read more from the author
The blurb for this book sounded really promising, but unfortunately this book did not end up being my favourite.
It took me much longer to read than it should, because the pacing differed throughout the book.
I love the grumpy x sunshine trope, but you get grumpy and then you have a person without manners. The FMC was forever drunk or drinking and as a result, I was not able to relate to either the MCs and couldn't be bothered whether they got together.
I will say that the darker subjects such as loss, was dealt with in a very graceful manner.
I'm sure the book will find its audience who enjoy: 🤍 one bed 🤍 marriage of convenience 🤍 grumpy x sunshine 🤍 contemporary romance
Thank you Booksprout for the ARC.
