Bed bugs
This book slowly draws me in piquing my curiosity. The writing is not wordy, short, concise but punchy and meaningful.
The story of a couple that falls in love while in high school, that becomes distanced in little dribs and drabs over time until you look around and say how did we get here?
A story with characters who love stories.
Humor oh yes and boy did you nail the back and forth with the husband and wife arguing this book hit home, I am married and who doesn't fight this was a bit uncanny.
Is this even in its brevity overwritten , the character’s banter too clever? Nah that’s why I enjoy this author’s writing, take it away and it would lose its originality.
Where is all this leading? All the suspicion and unraveling where are we going? I guess my biggest complaint is that it simmered just a bit too slow, sometimes the writing is a bit too cryptic at times.
All the creeps and chaos of a twisty ending that was exciting except I got a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to the next book.

Un thriller liniștit despre o familie cu probleme. Layla și Chris se cunosc din copilărie și încep o relație încă din liceu. Tensiunile dintre ei încep când în relația lor intervine Emma, o fată care pare să devină cea mai bună prietenă a celor doi. Când Layla rămâne însărcinată și renunță la școală, Emma și Chris se apropie tot mai mult. Devin ulterior colegi de serviciu și Layla se simte dată laoparte. Apare gelozia alimentată tot mai mult de comportamentul suspect al lui Chris. Dar nici Layla nu pare o sfântă, mai ales că are tot soiul de vise ciudate. După circa 70% din carte apare și prima crimă, iar de acolo totul se precipită și thrillerul devine mult mai alert. Finalul te lasă în fierbere, așa că abia aștept volumul 2!
Recomand cartea celor care sunt la început cu genul thriller sau care iubesc poveștile cu probleme de familie.

After reading two other books by this author, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect going into this one as it was a different genre, but it completely exceeded my expectations. It was outstanding!
The writing was incredibly well done, with vivid descriptions and carefully chosen wording that made every scene come alive. The author has a way of immersing you so deeply in the story that you feel like you’re right there in the room with the characters.
What impressed me most was the plot. At least four different times, I was convinced I had figured out where the story was headed and what the big twist would be. Every single time, I was wrong. By the end, I was completely blindsided in the best possible way. The ending absolutely messed with my mind, and I loved every second of it.
Now comes the hardest part...waiting for book two. Patiently? Probably not!
