Labor of Love is book nine of the Coleman series, a heart-wrenching yet hopeful family drama that unfolds between the glittering shores of Nantucket Island and Martha's Vineyard.
Katie writes women's fiction and clean, wholesome contemporary romance. She looks to everyday, real-life family issues to weave stories of heartfelt emotions, love and loss, and everything in between.

Reese’s relationship with his son Joel has been strained. When Joel reveals he has lost his job, Reese encourages Joel to move to Nantucket with his wife Lauren and their two sons. Reese offers Joel a job helping to develop apps
The pair is soon working for a beautiful Italian woman Carlotta. She has been an emergency client of aesthetician Darcy and takes her under her wing when Darcy arrives to pitch an idea for an app to Reese and Joel. Everyone soon learns Carlotta’s help has strings attached. Coleman family support and past mistakes add to the story line
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion
This is all about Reese’s relationship with his adult son joel and Darcy and her relationships with Steven and her sister Rochelle. There are tons of ups and downs and ur not sure why Carlotta gets involved. But in true Katie Winters fashion, the story moves to Italy and things get figured out by all. No one’s relationship is perfect - especially that of a father and son or sisters. But Darcy and Reese learn to trust and open up - which helps in the end.
A family demands a lot of work, as seen in Katie Winters' Labor of Love. The book centers on the rift between Reese and his eldest son Joel and on the physical separation between sisters Darcy and Rachelle, working as a chef in Rome. The catalyst for both of the stories is Carlotta, a rich, exotic and demanding businesswoman. I think it's natural that there are usually some rifts and bouts of jealousy among family members. Despite wealth and professional success, family is still the most important part of one's lives. This book deftly exposes the difficulties in family life, and the possibility of fixing the division. Katie Winters presents us with an interesting look at family life, the good and the bad.
Resse and Joel haven’t been close sense Joel had a party and burned the pool house down. But Joel tells his dad that he lost his job and Resse offers to join him in his business so he comes to MV Resses has to tell Joel that he thinks Joel’s wife is having an affair. Darcy gets involved with a business women that tries to change her. Darcy finds out she’s pregnant this lady is totally non family, so. They part ways. Was a boring book. Not into it.
I honestly was disappointed in this book. I had high hopes because of first 8 I really enjoyed reading. This one I didn’t like the back and forth of the man’s thoughts. It drove me insane. I had a very hard time reading this book. I finished it cause I can’t leave a book hanging but it’s not my top one for her.
Labor of Love by Katie Winters is a remarkable story of growing up and finding out what is really important in your life. Nobody said growing up was easy, but a metamorphosis is possible with the love and support of family! I love the feel good feeling I get when I reconnect with the characters in Winters’ books and I can experience their lives!
The Coleman Series has become quite fascinating over the years and definitely continues to intrigue us (the readers) with more and more interesting family dramas.
Reese's relationship with his son Joel has been strained. Reese offers Joel a job helping to develop apps. The Coleman family support and past mistakes definitely added to the story line.
This book was so well written you could imagine the feelings of all of the people and how the father and son reconciled after 10 years. This is the first in the series and I am looking forward to reading any more by Katie.
Another book in this enjoyable series. Each one explains something from the past that the characters have suffered through...its interesting to finally get the answers to hidden questions! On to next book!!!
This has been such a good series, and continues to amaze me, I normally get bored after a few, but on book nine, can't wait to continue on, to the next!
This book was really powerful…and not all that pretty. There’s something about the Coleman’s family that simply does not lend itself to happy and breezy! The way Katie Winters spins these tales is truly brilliant. You feel like you’re actually part of the story as it unfolds. Amazing on so many levels…
The storyline in this one was truly incredible; the characters weren’t at all what you expected; the plot twists and turns were beyond illuminating; and the journey to the HEA was filled with great angst yet surrounded with love. This one definitely deserves to be on your TBR shelf! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and once again I’m in awe of Ms Winters unbridled talent!)
