Tanzi Lone Wolf is a character that isn't soon forgotten. She's strong, resourceful, loyal, sacrificial, and flawed. Strong in that she fights to defeat the odds of poverty and systemic oppression. Resourceful in that she puts herself through college despite life's hardships and setbacks. Loyal in that she stays by her mother's side through addition, her sister's side through teenage angst, and her brother's side through unjust imprisonment. Sacrificial in that she gives and gives even when her loved ones can't or won't give back. And flawed in that she struggles with trust.
Unjust incarceration of First Nations people is a strong theme in this book and one that is not touch on nearly enough. That fact is that in the U.S. and Canada, indigenous people are not properly represented in the courts and as a result become forced scapegoats for crimes committed by others. It's a very real, very tragic reality, and I applaud this author for shedding light on the issue.
Overall, a great read. The salvation message in it is strong and inspiring. Five stars from me!

I received this book free from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
