Excellent book from seasoned strongmen focused on preventing injury and enhancing longevity in the sport. The authors provide a number of coaching tips along the way, including event strategies, equipment guidance, and exercise selection, which makes it both practical and engaging.

Chapter 8 dives into training plan templates and offers three solid options along with the associated lifts. However, what’s missing is a clear recommendation for sets and rep ranges. Considering that many 40+ athletes are specifically looking for guidance on longevity, this feels like one of the most important areas that could have been expanded.

That said, the book does include plenty of valuable general guidance, emphasizing not burning yourself out, listening to your body, and addressing injuries proactively. It leans more toward overarching principles and hard-earned wisdom rather than a strict, prescriptive program.

Overall, it’s an enjoyable and worthwhile read, and you’ll walk away with some genuinely sage advice from legends in the sport.
