One moment of pleasure. A lifetime of regret.

The deal I make with my father is I can get my college degree, and then I'll have to wed a man of his choosing. That's how it's done in my traditional Italian family. Mafia ties are forged from blood, loyalty and marriage, and I have a dark legacy to uphold.

On the day before my engagement party, I crash my car, and a man in a Maserati rescues me. With his ink-black hair and flashing blue eyes, he's oh-so-tempting. I choose to spend my last afternoon of freedom pressing my lips against his. No names, no strings, no questions. Just one perfect kiss of sin and desire. I'll never see him again, right?

Wrong.

That man who kissed me breathless is the second in command of a powerful Mafia family - and his boss is my fiancee.

REVENGE is part of the Bound By Sin world and can be read on its own. This is a dark new adult story and contains situations that some readers might find offensive or triggering.

This is the first of Anna Argento’s books that I’ve read, but it won’t be the last! I have a love/hate for any mafia books because it’s easy for me to lose interest in them. Revenge was well written and had a great storyline. The characters were witty and at times perfectly unpredictable. Cant wait to read another of her books!

In the beginning, I was wondering why it takes this author 500 pages to do what most dark romance authors do in 300, and the answer is: getting it right. The first half of the book is an “only one bed” forced proximity, sun-soaked beach house safehouse romance novel that honestly could’ve ended with the return of Mickey and the MCs riding off into the sunset with each other, and it would’ve been a totally average and respectable mafia romance. “August” by Taylor Swift is the MOOD.

But it doesn’t end there. The MCs don’t ride off into the sunset. They stirred up a lot of stuff and they have to let it settle. They wrestle with their biases. FMC wonders if MMC is serious about her, if he’ll tire of her once they’re no longer in vacation mode, if he’ll ever get out of “the business,” and if one or both of them are sociopaths pretending to be normal despite what they’ve done. MMC wants to keep her safe from the ruling families while making enough money to go legit and keeping his associates from turning on him, but his controlling behavior can be smothering, and he has to find out the hard way that keeping her out of the loop will not end well for him.

In the end, they meet each other halfway. The FMC becomes an equal partner, and the MMC goes as legit as he can without getting himself knifed in the back. It feels like a real relationship.

Unexpected

I really enjoyed this book. It was suspenseful with twists I didn't expect. I actually couldn't put it down. Very great writing and storyline. I think most people can relate to a little darkness in their life!!

Pretty good

The pacing was off. The ending felt super rushed while other scenes that had no impact took up too much real estate earlier on.
I also felt like there could have been more character growth for both of them. She was kind of immature and whiny for most of the book.

Average mafia romance. Decides to give fentanyl laced coke to get rid of her bestie rather than just dropping her

Pretty decent! Found a few spelling and grammar mistakes which oh well, but also couldn’t help but giggle.
