Out for an evening on the town with her friend, hard-working student Alice Pratt celebrates her impending graduation from college with a one-night stand. She runs into the same man on another night out and the two agree to another casual encounter. But the couple agrees not to exchange names to assure that their fling remains just that. Alice then turns her attention to finding a new job. The determined college graduate lucks out when she's granted an interview with one of the biggest companies in the city. But things change when the billionaire who is looking to hire her, Rafael Barnett, looks unexpectedly familiar. She accepts the job and quickly absorbs herself into her work but not without acknowledging the moment the two of them shared together just nights before. As she continues to work for him, Alice learns more about the mysterious billionaire and what makes him tick. Rafael proves to be as suave and charming as he seemed initially and Alice finds herself falling even more for him. She senses similar feelings stirring within Rafael but he continues to hold back. Alice is suddenly tasked with trying to balance the pressure of work while trying to come to terms with her feelings for a man who's unlike anybody she's ever met. This story contains strong erotic language that may offend some readers. It is intended for mature audiences.

The plot didn't really ... progress. There wasn't an ending to the story. At times, I just felt it was going back and forth. Just too repetitious and going nowhere.

Story was good, but execution wasn't there for me.

This story is unfortunately a bit boring and predictable and both the storyline and character needs a lot of depth and edge.

Rafael and Alice. Alice and Rafael.
Two similar people. Hard, determined workers with a need for release. Alice is fresh out of college. After spending all her time dedicated to her school work, she recognizes that now is the time to blow off steam before diving head first into the work force. But what she doesn't expect is a mind blowing experience from a mystery man. A man who soon turns out to be her boss. But can they keep work and personal lives separate?

I didn't mind this book. It was a quick read. It did have the steam I was looking for. It did have the tension needed between the two characters.

But what it didn't have is why I rated it 2 stars. It didn't have a well-rounded plot. It started off promising but fell flat when all that occurred was a woman working hard, trying to please her boss and eventually deciding to take matters into her own hands one night to please him outside of the working day. That was it. No witty banter. No angst. No real drama. Just.. "Hi, I'm here to work. You're hired because of your resume and nothing more. Okay, I'd still like to have sexual relationship. Why can't we? Fine. Okay, I want it regardless. Okay, here are the rules. The End."

And don't get me started on the end. It just stopped! Maybe that's where my anger is coming from. I wanted more and I was left with a feeling of unfinished business. I hate unfinished business. And random hotel room keys that promise more. ;)

In my opinion, Pulse didn’t have much progression in the story. As you all know, I am a person who absolutely lives for good stories. However, this story didn’t quite fulfill my expectations. The description of the book was quite delectable, but the content of the book itself did not deliver. I feel like I have been handed a seemingly gratifying piece of cake, only to find out that it’s composed of 99% air. The beginning of the story was promising, but the story’s ending was astonishingly abrupt and left a lot of loose ends. In the end, it could almost be summed up by saying that Alice had a sexual relationship with Rafael, her billionaire boss. That was it. No significant ending. No inspiring revelation of emotions. I was a little disappointed.

However, this is not to say that this storyline doesn’t have potential. Celebrating a college graduation with a one-night stand and finding out that your partner is your future boss? This storyline had great potential, I just think it could have been executed better. Perhaps Rhea Wilde could follow up with a better conclusion of the story in a second book to redeem herself. As always, I still encourage her to continue writing!

Rafael I'm not sure what to think of him I do know I am wondering is this a first installment to a series? Because honestly the ending wasn't to my liking do they get a HEA is that their HEA, what happens to Alice and Rafael? I mean the boy tries to be so professional but when he's around Alice that kind of flies out the door, "I know. But...as good as a job you did...as much money as you saved this company...as amazing as you were this afternoon..." He clenched his jaw. His eyes were locked upon me. He was staring at me so hard I found myself unable to look away. "Despite everything you did, Alice, the only thing I could think about was what you would look like with my co** between your lips." Alice she doesn't beat around the bush on things, "is that the only reason you're buying me an outfit? Is it just because you want me to look nice for the other people at the party?" I hope there's a second installment.

The sex was hot, but I guess I have to use my own imagination as to where their HEA takes them.

I am not sure where to start, because it all want pretty well until Alice decided to be needy and clingy. Alice and Rafael met at a bar, they did not exchange names or numbers, but did do it in a public place. It was all very fun and exciting and it was just for one night. The next time these two run into each other, Rafael is about to hire Alice as an intern on the board of directors.

This was what I liked the most about Alice, how driven she was work-wise. Not letting their encounter get to her head and focus on what is important i.e. her new job and career. Rafael made it very clear he did not hire her because of what happened between them, but he hired her for her impressive resume. He also made it very clear no one was ever to know what happened between them and there would not be a repeat.

At first Alice seemed okay with this, but when she gets to know her boss better she starts feeling even more attracted to him. He is not just a pretty face with an incredible body, he is also nice, funny and etc. Honestly Rafael really is a dreamy guy, he would be perfect if it wasn't for that little fact that he is Alice's boss.

When Alice can no longer hold herself, she pretty much throws herself at him. Now Rafael is of course still very attracted to her, but he is also looking out for her. Here is where the problems started for me. Alice seems to be ready to throw her reputation and career on line for the chance to do the nasty with her boss and possibly more. While at least Rafael is sound of mind. He at first refuses because he is afraid that if people find out they will no longer respect Alice and think she slept her way to the top.

It seems that Alice doesn't really care about what people might think, which made no sense for me. She worked so hard to get that job, she was so focused on getting a great career, but getting down and dirty with Rafael is suddenly more important? I do not get it and I lost most of my respect for her for choosing that. I have more respect for Rafael, he is longer able to withstand the attraction and he is putting her first, even if that means he's not getting any.

Then that ending was just weird. It is not a cliff-hanger, but is very open ended. As in I am missing the other half of this story. Now there is a second book, where the story continues. Seeing the way this one ended, I have the feeling these two books could have easily been one. Also there were not that many steamy scenes (like 4 or so) as expected. Overall the writing is very well done and I really like the character Rafael, but the way the plot developed and then that ending was just a turn off. I am not even curious about the second book.

When I started reading this book I thought from the synopsis that this was going to be a 5 star book, as you can see that didn't happen.

It started to go wrong for me with the typos. They distracted me, which is one of my pet hates. The occasional one doesn't bother me, we all make mistakes, but when there seems to be one after the other it just annoys the arse off of me, which in turn makes me become annoyed with the book.

Alice annoyed me as well. She's very self-sufficient and independent, which was a big yay, but then she seemed to turn emotionally 'needy'. Why, why, why?

Then as if I wasn't annoyed enough, it just bloody ended. WTF? I notice that the author has said there will now be a sequel due to reader comments, so big yay to an author who listens to what peeps want.

Overall this is a good book, and well worth a read, but be prepared to be annoyed by it at the same time.

This was the first book I've read by this author, however due to my kindle freebie whoring ways I do have other books by this author. I will read them as they obviously appealed to me when I downloaded them.

I could honestly give someone the whole story in this book in 4 sentences and it would be the same as if they read it themselves. I'm confused as to what the point of this story was. It didn't go anywhere. It was so flat. And the dialogue was sometimes hard to endure. Why are the characters saying each others names ten million times in one small conversation?!?!?!? The plot is pointless and the job she gets is so far fetched I can barely pretend to imagine it. And the ending literally gives us a big fat nothing after we endured the entire book. I feel like the author was standing there at the end of the book laughing at me for being such a dumbass for reading the whole damn thing.

4.5 Stars. HOT, HOT, HOT

Really hot read!! What was suppose to be a one night stand with a total stranger turned out to be so much more than Alice expected.
Fresh out of college she's looking for a job. After an interview for an internship The CEO of a billion dollar company has taken interest in an her resume wanting to meet in person. What are the odds of the CEO and the guy she hooked up with a couple of nights ago being the same person?
What can happen when the attraction is too much to bare? What about the job of a lifetime? How do you choose? Is there even a choice?

Wow. . quick.. I need a follow up to this book.
Rafael and Alice...PHEWEE :-)
Interesting how they met and connected. Rafael is such a hottie who wants a quickie but so does Alice. fate interrupts.
A new job..guess what.. Rafael is her BOSS. It progressed as I thought.. business. .sex..business ..sex. which is fine but I needed it to be more and not left as it was. Hopefully it will follow with another book about them and then another about her friend Danica. Even more about Travis and another about William. possibilities.
A really good read but so want more Rafael and Alice

Really not sure what to say...

Seemed like an interesting set-up for a story, then it just 'ends'. From what I can tell, that was the author's intention, but to me if feels incomplete. I get that she wants the reader to imagine what happens next, but to me it seemed like a major let-down.

I also feel like I need to add that I didn't really 'like' either of the main characters very much, and I'm pretty open-minded, enjoying all kinds of characters, but this one just left me scratching my head & feeling like I'd wasted an afternoon.

I loved this book right up until the end, the ending id very unclear and it is unfinished, i hate open ended books, esp when there is no indication of if this is a one off or the author plans to write a follow on book. If it is a one off, then its the authors job to give the reader a nice clean clear ending not leave it open, and leave people to wonder, we arent the writer! What happens to Alice and Rafael? I am hoping the author gives an update sooner than later on what the plan is!

Alice is into picking up random guys on weekends. So when she meets this guy who won't give her his name she just plays along and doesn't give her name either. Little does she or he know that she had applied and scored an interview with his company. He is so impressed with her interview that he wants to hire her. Now comes the awkward part. But can they keep a strictly business relationship? Or will they give into temptation?

Whoaaaaa this was crazy hot!!!

Well alright only like a couple of times hot, and actually kind of annoying the rest if the time... As much as I am a feminist, I like it when the prince comes in to save the day.., but seeing this chick actually not really care about her career and the man actually care about her career for her???? Wow. Total turn on. On his part. Hers? She is an idiot.

I didn't like the way this ended, I want more, so I wonder if there will be a baby sequel?

Not my usual read but I found myself enjoying it. Rafael is a hotshot businessman and Alice is a fresh college graduate. After a one night stand they figure they won't see each other again......until Alice gets the job of her dreams......and meets her boss Rafael. They need to find a way to deal with their attraction in the office........and do they ever! A good read......will be reading the rest of the series

A change from all the billionare alpha heroes. This MC wants to stay professional and denies their attraction and it's the female who pursues him. The ending though isn't a HEA. More of a HFN

I loved the storyline I thought it was great! The way it was flowing was really good too! I had to give this 3 stars though because it kind of just left me hanging! I mean I could see if a sequel was being written for this book and it was goin to be a series or something but so far I don't see anything about that so I have to give it 3 stars!

i know this is just the first book in the three-part series.

there's no progress though. i mean the characters are kinda predictable as well as the story.

i hope the second book wouldnt disappoint cause this is my very first Rhea Wilde read.

I am looking forward to character development and to series of not so usual events on the next books.

I didn't hate it but I feel like I know more about the business standpoint that Rafael owned instead of the couple or whatever they were themselves. It was well written and flowed very good. I guess I thought I was supposed to be reading a romance instead of learning about finances.

To me this was just not that good. The story line was slow and the character's in my opinion alone just didn't click with me. That's just my lone opinion so give it a try it might be something you're interested in.

Ok read

I thought there would be more steamy scenes in the book. it has a few but I would prefer more. The author did a good job with the overall storyline. The lack of steam (for me) is the reason for three stars instead of more.

I think I'm reading way too many romanctic, sexy books because I was looking for the romance in every page, but I must say that I felt pretty good reading this one. It was very direct like no bullshit going around. I could imagine this happening in real life, I think that's it, it felt real.

I started reading this book thinking maybe it would be true love story but I was dissapointed to a degree with the way it ended and they way she would just throw herself at a CEO

Only rating 3 stars on this one

I can't figure what is the point of this book. The characters are weak, no development whatsoever. Alice went from a smart college grad to a clingy needy woman who is dying to sleep with her boss just because they had a one night stand (one and a half to be accurate) before she got the job.

Exciting!

This book was very fascinating and crazy. Alice and Danica hooking up with guys at the club. That's a wee bit scary, but I am so excited to read what is going to happen in the next book. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
