This is my 4th book by this author.
And I enjoyed them all very much.

Each of her books always has a special message for the reader, and it's no different with this story.

This book is a little different from the books I have read before.
Here we are not talking about young teenagers, like in her other books.
This book is about a young woman who comes from a very poor background and has been exploited by her parents and then by strangers since she was a child.
Not protected by her parents, but left to feed for herself.

This book dealt with topics such as sexual, physical and psychological abuse.
What the book shows is the struggle for a normal life, to get out of the box and be able to lead a normal life.
But unfortunately, that is not so easy because the past always catches up with you.
Poverty, religion differences, prejudice and violence are the main themes in this book.
This book also describes a modern Muslim relationship and the class differences in a modern Muslim New York society.

This book is a dramatic and heartbreaking story with a beautiful HEA.

Olivia’s life is far from the Upper East Side, but somehow she manages to get a job as a live in nanny in a luxurious Manhattan apartment. That means a paycheck, a family and a home - something Olivia never had before. But what happens when the secrets of her past comes back to haunt her?

This book deals with some very heavy topics, so make sure you check the trigger warnings!

As with all Regitze’s books, this is well written and while some of the topics are hard to read about, it’s handled very well and they bring something to the story. I liked the plot and characters and if you’re a fan of slow burn, age gap mixed with heavy topics, you will love this!
