In the wake of her mother's tragic passing, Tamara Stuckey finds herself shouldering the weight of her family's fractured world. With a father lost to grief and drowning in alcohol, Tamara's primary concern becomes the safety and well-being of her two younger brothers. As her father's struggles escalate, threatening not only himself but also the security of her siblings' futures, Tamara grapples with the overwhelming responsibility placed upon her young shoulders.
One fateful night, when her father collapses in the yard in a drunken stupor, Tamara turns to her neighbor, Ethan Stuckey, for help. In the midst of chaos, Ethan's unwavering support offers a glimmer of hope, igniting a love that blossoms between them. However, as their relationship deepens and they dream of a future together, Tamara faces a daunting how can she leave her family behind, knowing their safety hangs in the balance?
Caught between love and loyalty, Tamara embarks on a heart-wrenching journey to find a way to protect her father and brothers while also following her own heart. In a story of resilience, sacrifice, and the enduring power of love, Tamara must navigate the complexities of family bonds and the quest for personal happiness in the face of adversity.
Poor Tamara had more than she could handle after the death of her mother. Even with two younger brothers helping, managing the house, and the garden and the farm was far too much for her to do. Her father had never recovered from his wife's death, and had turned to alcohol to dull the pain. Taking a local job was out of the question, because her father's alcoholism would easily be discovered. Could Gott have a solution for her distress? Of course He could... Nice read. I'd have enjoyed a bit more fleshing out of the characters and more intervention from the bishop to make it a great read. I will read this author's work aain.
Tamara is trying to do everything for her brothers and keep the farm running. But it is not an easy job for a single woman. Tamara has a major problem that she is trying to keep to herself, but she needs help.
The title of this book is misleading as the town soon finds out about the Dat's drinking problem. An enjoyable read.
I liked the strength Tamara had handling all the responsibilities of maintaining a farm. Her dad's weakness was sad, his family suffered for his inability to go on with his life after loosing his wife. Loss happens every day but he couldn't handle it.
Dat has been getting drunk to forget the wife he lost. His daughter is trying to hold it together for two little brothers. Along the way she gets custody of two young cousins. The boy next door notices her and falls for her, but his father is concerned about her family’s reputation because of her father. Lots of prayer and patience later, her father decides a change of scenery is needed and turns the farm over to her. So Ethan marries her in a double wedding with his sister, and the rest as they say is history.
This was such a splendid family book to read. The bonding relationship between Ethan and Tamara and her two brothers was awesome. There wasn’t much gossip from the community about Tamara’s dad drinking all the time. I wonder why!
