“Husband by proxy” by Purva Ahuja Mehta is a Desi Romance novel. The story follows Rasika who was stood up at the altar(mandap), her groom doesn’t show up for the wedding. So she ends up marrying a stranger, Anish. The story of Anish and Rasika from strangers to life partners is a beautiful and unique tale filled with lots of ups and downs, love, joy, moments of sadness, misunderstandings, and cute moments that make your heart flutter. Both Anish and Rasika are totally different from each other. Anish is a grumpy businessman and has arrogant personality. On the other hand Rasika is a very strong, independent woman who has a keen interest in cooking. Will this match made by chance last forever despite the differences? TO ALL THE DESI ROMANCE LOVERS, this is the book that you need.
My review: I loved the plot of the book. It was unique yet beautiful. I loved the characters of both Rasika and Anish. I admired the way Rasika didn’t give up and continued trying to overcome whatever happened in the past and start a new chapter of her life. On the other hand though Anish can seem to be an arrogant but is a soft hearted man. I loved reading his character development from being unable to communicate his emotions to caring Rasika, respecting her was adorable.
I loved the story as it was filled with drama, emotions, love, romance, laughter and tears. I appreciate the author for beautifully portraying the Indian culture and festivals through this story. This book will feel like a warm hug to all the DESI ROMANCE LOVERS.
I finished reading this book, a few days back, which was such a cute & short read. I'm wondering why I haven't read this before? This was so good. I wasn't expecting it to turn out this good; I've read a story of an arranged marriage after so long, and this book was something that took me out of my reading slump. It was less than 200 pages, and I devoured it within 2 days.
The story is about Anish and Rasika, two unlikely partners who were thrust into an arranged marriage they never thought about. Through the title, it would look like it's very simple and easy, but no! Hold on, and please don't judge a book by its cover; their journey was full of ups and downs, and it was really a rollercoaster ride. The guy, Anish, is an Indian grumpy businessman who stays outside of India and is super rich, and the girl is from India; she's emotional and sweet.
I loved how the author has made Anish a morally grey and attractive character; I literally fell in love with him, the way he took care of Rasika, motivated her, and became her protector and supporter. He didn't show it to her directly, but he showed it through his actions (Oh Gosh! I love this guy so much!). And Rasika was already head over heels for him, but their story comes to a halt because of the circumstances, they were married in. I was blushing throughout the book whenever they were together; he's such a gentleman that every reader girl would fall for, or dream of. It was a slow-burn romance, but I enjoyed it a lot.
The story felt real, as if I was inside the book and seeing them in front of my eyes. The characters journey is full of drama, emotions and romance, and the writing is engaging and easy to understand. I also loved and adored the little moments between Anish and Rasika: the fights, the cute moments, the date nights, and their kiss. I was frustrated too, every time they were about to have some of these moments, and they got a barrier, but in the end, it was all worth it, you know.
I didn't liked arranged marriages until I read this book; if it's a story like theirs, then who wouldn't love arranged marriages? The book is not just a romantic story but also teaches us that it doesn't matter who came later and why some stories didn't turn out to be perfect. Sometimes, all we need is the right person, and for that, we have a time decided by the universe, and by that way, we'll get all our answers once we get the person, only meant for us. Destiny does play some confusing games sometimes, but at the end, it will be worth it; you just have to trust the process instead of asking why.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a compelling, cute, and short love story with arranged marriage and grumpy x sunshine's trope. Read the book and embark on a journey with these two characters if you're going through a reading slump. The story will keep you hooked till the very end, trust me.

I am a huge supporter of Indian authors. I especially feel like they do so much for us readers by writing amazing books but never get enough recognition or support.
Purva ma'am really gave a huge message through this book that I will convey at the end of this review. So, going straight to the review—ANISH, who is a bachelor and a very loved son of his father, is also a very successful businessman working in New York. He comes to visit his father whenever he gets the chance. One day, when he comes to visit his father, he joins him at his father's best friend's daughter's marriage, where the unexpected of the unexpected happens, and he meets his soulmate RASIKA. I don't want to spoil how they meet and how they get married.🤐
Then, this book tells about what happens between them after their marriage and how things go on between them.
To be frank, the author has given her 100% in writing the title, which exactly matches the story 💯.
Relationships and marriages can be bumpy or even sometimes hilarious, but the art of opening up and sharing emotions, pain, and love towards each other matters. That helps the flow to continue, and the courage to accept mistakes and the mindset to correct them are always steps toward a beautiful life together. And Purva ma'am has exactly conveyed this through her book HUSBAND BY PROXY.💝
This is an amazing book with a desi twist🤩✨. This book is full of drama, emotions, love, laughter and tears.
This book narrates the story of Rashika, who was initially set to marry someone else but fate had different plans as she ends up tying the knot with Anish. The marriage journey of Anish and Rashika is a rollercoaster ride filled with numerous highs and lows, twists and turns. Both have different personalities, Anish is businessman and arrogant in nature, and Rashika is the strong independent woman who enjoys cooking.
The ways the author potray these two characters and their relationship is truly engaging🤩. I really loved these two characters Anish and Rashika, Particularly Rashika's determination and Anish's hidden soft side😍💗.
The way the author crafted Anish and Rashika journey is so engaging that hooked me til the end. The author also depicts the rich tapestry of Indian culture and festivals like Diwali and Karwa Chauth💫.
When I finished reading this book, I was very sad that it ended. I really love both these characters so much that I can't even describe it😭💕.
I'll definitely recommend this book to everyone who enjoy desi romance with a mix of emotions and humors😍. Go for it guyss!!!❤🤌🏻
Amazing book, had adequate amount of bollywood masala as promised by the author. Loved the chemistry and the process of a husband and wife falling for each other after marriage💍 Also the book has a bollywood climax🩷🩷🩷
I never knew that the Indian desi romance could be so good but this book surprised me. The level of angsty romance and proximity in it was to die for. It is an arranged marriage, forced proximity romance trope, which I absolutely devoured. The way they both had feelings for each other but kept ignoring it since they felt that the other person felt stuck with them, which was absolutely wrong. I loved and hated Anish both at the same time; I can understand the dilemma he went through, but behaving like an ass was not the solution. But I cannot deny that I do love Anish because of the gentleman he is, and the things he did for Rasika are absolutely beautiful. I cried in the end while reading this book because I read both of their POVs, and their secretly wishing and begging that the other person fall in love with them was too overwhelming for me. It would be a lie if I said I didn't like this book because I loved reading it. It was short, fast-paced, and had great tropes, spice, angsty romance, and emotions. It was like a full package. Loved the book and would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Where are all the desi romance readers? Let me tell you, this is THE book, that we all need.
Husband by Proxy is a book of total dhamaal, emotions, Indian weddings, humour, couple ambitions, Asian cuisines, and a desi tale set in New York. A book that moved me through a range of emotions, including crying, laughing, being angry at Anish, dancing, and feeling butterflies in my stomach during their cute-intense moments.
The story follows a grumpy businessman and a cassanova, Anish and Rasika's journey from strangers to partners, which is full of ups and downs. Theirs was not your ordinary love story, but whatever it was, it was theirs.
Rasika is a strong, independent, and resilient lady, and based on how Anish appeared to appreciate the meals she prepared, she is also an incredible chef. It is admirable that she continues to live her life to the fullest without lingering on or allowing her past to interfere with her present. Did I forget to add that I absolutely adored Anish? Reading his character development from being unable to communicate his emotions to caring for Rasika, respecting her was excellent.
I loved the story and all of it's nitty bits too - the fights, cute moments, date nights, makeovers, and more. They both were thrust together unexpectedly in a marriage, setting the backdrop for a thrilling rollercoaster of difficulties, drama, emotions, and romance that I thoroughly enjoyed.
By the way, did you see the book cover? It's fantastic! I liked the design of the book cover, which depicts a married couple and appears to be a good reflection of the story the author has written.
