Thrust into Love: A Four-Book Collection

Rate this book
Join the men of Hayworth College as they stumble into love with app hookups gone awry. Sometimes the last person you should fall for is the one who's perfect for you...

Book 1:
Cooper frat boy, general screwup, and...Daddy's boy?
On the surface, I don't take things too seriously. Not my poor grades, or my hookups, or my inability to find my purpose. But that was before.

Before the daddy of my wet dreams swiped right on my pic. Before he turned out to be my father's best friend. Before I convinced him to indulge in one night of pleasure with no strings.

Book 2:
Simon ex-football star, bitter rival, and...falling for the enemy?

I hate my teammate, Parker Reed. I hate that he makes me work so hard for my position on the field. Hate how easily he shows me up when I'm injured. Most of all, I hate that he made me lose my temper and get cut from the team.

At least without football, I can explore a new side to myself on a hookup app. That is, until I discover the identity of the sweet, patient guy who makes me burn for him.

Yeah, it's Parker.

Book 3:
Ethan Shy geek, newly bi-curious, and...propositioning his gay roommate?

I have a passion for a lot of wildlife biology, Godzilla, bowties. But when it comes to people, I'm more timid. Which is why I'm stuck with a toxic ex-girlfriend who's holding my lizard hostage.

I need to face her--and save my dignity. But a little backup won't hurt, right? My charismatic roommate is the perfect wingman. Until he kisses me and things get weird.

I turn to a hookup app for answers, and instead I end up propositioning him. But as it turns out, Rhett has a proposition of his own...

Book 4:
Christian College professor, reluctant Santa, and...fake dating my neighbor?
I'm a grinch and proud of it--but this year, there’s no avoiding the Christmas cheer.

First, I get roped into playing Santa. Then, while trying to dodge a setup with my boss's brother, I somehow promise to attend a holiday party with my boyfriend--who doesn't exist.

Next thing I know, my (soon-to-be former) best friend has set up a profile on a hookup app to find me a date. With the username of....wait for it...SantaWantsYourChimney.

Before I can delete the profile, I match with a charming, devoted single dad. His teasing about Santa kink makes me laugh, and blush, and feel things I haven't since my divorce. For the first time in years, I look forward to dating.

Until we meet, and he turns out to be my neighbor. My very young, very off-limits neighbor who I've clashed with for years...

Very nice collection of the books about the guys at Hayworth College. The thing that ties all the stories is that the guys meet through the ThrustApp.

I adored the Thrust into Love series when it first came out, so when I found out D. J. Jamison was putting out a collection it was too good to resist! This series spans a range of romance tropes and angst levels, but two things all these books have in common is a set of lovable characters who go on interesting journeys and a delightfully steamy and happy ending for each couple.

Swiped by My Dad's Best Friend (5/5 stars)

I had a little trouble connecting with Cooper at first, but once I had a better understanding of everything going on in his life it was easier for me to see how happy Trace made him. I’ve always loved a good Daddy/boy dynamic, and the two of them were amazing together once they stopped resisting their chemistry. I thought the pace of their relationship made a lot of sense, and I appreciate that they gave some consideration to the awkward family connection but didn’t spend a ton of time agonizing about what would happen when Cooper’s dad found out. I knew that was going to be one of the biggest relationship hurdles in this story, but after seeing just how well matched Trace and Cooper were as lovers I knew it was worth the drama. I found it really easy to get invested in Trace’s struggling business, and I was happy to see Cooper provide some support for Trace after Trace had been such an integral part of Cooper turning his grades around. Knowing how much Cooper was struggling with his grades, his relationship with his parents, and his chosen career path, it was really rewarding to see how far he came in this book. Everything may not have turned out perfectly, but it was hard to complain about the happy future Trace and Cooper built together.

Matched by My Rival (5/5 stars)

I wasn't sure how I felt about Simon in the previous book, but seeing how his fierce rivalry with Parker morphed into an equally passionate attraction was too good to resist. I've always been a fan of enemies-to-lovers stories, and in this one the sparks of hatred were particularly fiery. It was thrilling to watch Parker and Simon trade barbs, but I loved the way they unwittingly struck up a virtual friendship even more. Both men were so much more than their college athlete facades, and the way they opened up to each other online was much sweeter than I expected. Their romance felt perfectly paced for everything that was going on in their lives--not fast enough to feel impulsive but not so slow that the storyline dragged on.

Much to my delight, Parker and Simon were so fired up that not even the reveal of their virtual identities could convince them to stay away from each other for long. These two had some of the most wonderfully hot encounters I've read in a long time, and I ate up every sneaky moment they managed to find for each other. Outside of the romance, I really enjoyed the overall narrative about the dynamics of college sports and how difficult it is for athletes to plan a future that revolves around anything else. Both Simon and Parker had to make some difficult career decisions, and I was really invested in seeing how their new goals would shape their future together. At the end of the day, Simon and Parker's relationship wasn't smooth sailing, but it was the effort they put into spending time together and working on their communication that convinced me they were committed to making things work in the long haul.

Tapped by My Roommate (5/5 stars)

I've read other roommate romances, but there was something special about Ethan and Rhett's story. I wasn't completely sure what to think of the two of them when I first met them, but all it took was one nasty confrontation with Tess and I was firmly on Team-Ethan-and-anybody-else. I wasn't expecting a drunken kiss to kickstart a deliciously steamy checklist of sexual explorations, but wow did I have fun seeing how many ways Rhett and Ethan could get each other off. I loved the way Rhett was so patient with Ethan, never pushing him for more and always showing his interest in everything they did together. The two of them had insane chemistry that went way beyond physical touches and kisses. They may have pretended their interest in each other was strictly for hookups, but their actions told an entirely different story.

As much as I loved the steamy bits (and I really, really did), I thought Ethan and Rhett's individual storylines were really compelling as well. Ethan not only explored his sexuality in this story but also tackled his fear of confrontation. I was so distraught after seeing the way Tess and others treated him--especially because I have my own qualms about confrontation and I understand the struggle to speak up for yourself. That's why it was so satisfying to see Ethan gain confidence and learn how to be brave when it mattered most. In turn, Rhett had his own savior complex to overcome on top of a difficult decision about what major he wanted to pursue. What I really enjoyed about this story was how deep it delved into Ethan and Rhett's history. I didn't just experience Ethan and Rhett's struggles in the present day--I got glimpses into how their pasts shaped them to put everything into context. On top of that, seeing how Ethan interacted with his co-volunteers and Rhett spent time with his family made their characters feel satisfyingly well-rounded. Of course, I can't leave out Linh, who was always around to give either guy a kick in the backside when they needed to get out of their heads.

Though Rhett and Ethan spent way too much time dodging important discussions about their relationship, I couldn't help but fall head over heels for them. That didn't stop me from being devastated each time a communication issue threatened to derail their romance before it could get off the ground, but in the end they managed to get on the same page. I'm so happy with the way that sappy love confession turned out, and don't even get me started on that adorkable marriage proposal at the end!

Sexted by Santa (5/5 stars)

Christian and Jaxson's sweet holiday romance hit me right in the feels. I'm always a little apprehensive about reading holiday-themed stories, because sometimes they can feel over-the-top, but this book was nothing like that. Christian's grinchy attitude at the beginning gave me a bit of a chuckle, but his fake-boyfriends arrangement with Jaxson quickly turned into something much more sincere and loving. The two of them had me practically giddy with happiness as they explored what it would mean to be more than a casual hookup, and once I got to know Jaxson's adorable daughter I knew that was it for me. I fell head-over-heels for the three of them, and watching the holiday spirit bring Christian and Jaxson closer together was heartwarming. Jaxson was a hard worker and incredibly devoted dad, and the way that he continued to prioritize Tori instead of his newfound romance spoke to his maturity as an individual. That's not to say that he and Christian didn't find time to be together, because they certainly did, but the pace of their relationship was understandably slower. If anything, the slower burn made Jaxson and Christian's romance even more enticing to me, and knowing how little time they had made their every interaction feel more meaningful. With so much of this story's focus being on the characters, I felt incredibly connected to and invested in their well-being. The transformation in Christian's happiness was obvious, but even Jaxson's stress and guilt receded as he trusted his partner to be there for him. When their relationship was put to the test it did break my heart to see old fears and insecurities come roaring back to life, but thankfully Jaxson and Christian worked through it instead of letting stress and miscommunication tear them apart. Their journey came to such a wonderfully happy ending that I can't even be sad about not getting to read any further into their lives together.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this collection. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Swiped by My Dad's Best Friend: I wasn't sure if I would like this story due to it having daddy king.. but I wanted to give this story a chance because the premise sounded really interesting, and I love DJ's writing. I'm glad I have this book a chance, because if I didn't, I wouldn't have gotten to read about Cooper and Trace.

Cooper's character was adrift for most of this story, he wasn't quite sure what he wanted to do, or where he fit. He knew he didn't want to keep disappointing his dad, but he also didn't know how to explain what he was feeling to the man that raised him. There was quite a bit of conflict between Cooper and his dad, and I thought that it was handled well.

I liked Trace's character, he was so supportive of Cooper and always tried to encourage him, instead of discouraging him. I also liked how Trace tried to help Cooper realize that he could be his own incentive, he could motivate himself to do the things he wanted to do. I didn't quite understand his hangup with Cooper being Matt's son because they hadn't spoken to each other in years, in addition to how they didn't really repair their friendship during the story either. I get why that was written in, to give way to the dad's best friend trope, however, Trace wasn't really Cooper's dad's best friend, he hadn't been in years.

I thought the pacing was really good, the Thanksgiving scene was really sweet and was a pivotal moment in the story. While I don't usually read daddy/boy, I found this one to be good. It was quite light on that kink which I appreciated.

Matched By My Rival: Parker and Simon is the epitome of enemies to lovers. They have so much angst and tension between the two of them, I kept wondering if they were going to get into another fight. I thought the pace of this story was good, the anger between these two men didn't get resolved right away, which I liked. It took them time to work through their problems, it took effort, and lots of communication before these two men talked about how they genuinely feel for each other, outside of their anger.

The pacing I thought was done well, I liked all of the characters. It was cool to still see Cooper and Trace every now and then, along with the other guys who are apart of the frat. I also adored Simon's grandparents, they were adorable!! I'm very curious about Rhett's character, it makes me wonder what his story will be.

Tapped By My Roommate; Ethan's character has been my favorite so far! He's nerdy, quirky, awkward, and at times, shy. All of which I can relate to! I found his character really interesting, I loved reading about all of the facts he had regarding lizards and amphibians. That was really cool to read about different information about those animals, I really enjoyed that.

The arrangement these two had definitely gave off the friends with benefits vibe, I thought that was a good concept. I liked how it was handled, and the way it was written.

Rhett's character was so sweet and supportive of Ethan, when Ethan was trying to get his lizard back, Rhett had his back through the whole ordeal. I liked their relationship dynamic, I feel like once they were able to communicate with each other was when the story really picked up and found it's groove. I really liked these characters, I just think that there was too much focus on the steamy scenes. But I understand why that was, I just wished we could've had more scenes with the two MC's doing things together other than steamy scenes.

Sexted By Santa; Christian is a scrooge to the extreme, he hates the holidays. It's never been his favorite time of year but after his ex serves him divorce papers on the holiday, he despises it even more. This year though, this year is different for him. Him being apart of Jaxson and Tori's life slowly starts changing his perspective on the holiday, and that maybe the holiday isn't as bad as he believed.

This story was so cute and full of love. I love the pacing, the grumpy/sunshine trope was pulled off so well!! I adored the contrast between Christian and Jaxson's characters, they were completely different but yet complimented the other so well and are there for one another in different ways. Tori's character is my favorite, she's so adorable and added such an overall cuteness to this story. She's supportive of her dad, and loves Christmas, and she's stubborn, but she also is independent in her own way. I loved her character, I felt for her, diabetes is not fun to have, and it makes life really difficult. Reading about her character just further proved that, that sometimes things happen that you can't plan or predict. I thought the way her diabetes was written and handled was done really well, there was clearly research done as the author was writing Tori's character.

I enjoyed reading about Christian and Jaxson's relationship developing, it progressed so smoothly and while there were some issues they had to work through together, they talked things out with one another, and they were able to be stronger together.
I think this one was my favorite because the characters really grew, both individually and they grew together as well. The character development was fantastic, the side characters all helped provide dimension to the storyline, and the story itself was really beautiful.

Overall, this boxset has been a wonderful collection of books, and I really enjoyed having the whole series in one place. If you're thinking about reading this series, I highly recommend you to grab this boxset and have them all in one place!

A whole collection of one of my favorite series? Yes, PLEASE!

Swiped:

I can’t deny how much I enjoyed it. A college senior, his dad’s best friend, some sexy times, and a bit of family drama wrapped up nicely in this little story. I kinda felt like the relationship was rushed, considering a large portion was them skyping/texting, but I’ve always struggled with long distance romances.

Cooper was a frat boy with a big heart. His frat fixed homes of the less fortunate and despite his effort, he struggled in classes, which disappointed his father, who was the dean. When Cooper’s hook-up account gets swiped by an older man, he decides he wants to try out the daddy kink that’s always intrigued him.

Trace is an old family friend that’s been gone for 10+ years. When he arrives at the college for a seminar, he swipes the first guy he’s drawn to and is thrown for a loop when he discovers it’s his best friend’s son. He tries to stay away but the pull and draw is too severe and these two men begin a hidden love story.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story but I felt like something BIG was missing. Maybe I just didn’t connect with these two or feel that they were developed enough given the short time they were together and most of it was spent apart. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oohhhhh, I absolutely loved Parker and Simon’s romance! What started as a seemingly bitter rivalry that ended with Simon being kicked from the football team and Parker taking his place turned into a sexy, swoon-worthy love story between two incredibly sensitive and passionate men. Their beginning was rocky but I was hooked to their friendship and eventual relationship.

Simon was accident prone and angry. Football was his everything and he blamed Parker for his mistakes. Parker was always drawn to Simon and never wanted to get him kicked from the team. These two strike up a friendship through a hookup app and even when they found out who the other person was, their chemistry was amazing!

The push/pull was mostly Simon not wanting to hurt Parker’s place on the team by “coming out,” but Parker just wanted Simon. A little bit of angst but it was handled with care and quickly.

I loved this love story. When two jock guys go soft for one another, it hits all the feels for me. Parker and Simon were so in sync, it was mesmerizing.

Ethan and Rhett were absolutely PERFECT y’all. Ethan with his bow ties, suspenders, and love for reptiles. Rhett with his “hero complex,” confidence, and sex appeal. These two were both frustrating in their silence and addictive in their chemistry. It took them a while to get THERE, but the ride was so worth it. They were so sweet and passionate and almost innocent in everything they did.

I just loved how Ethan gained confidence throughout the story. He was a bit of a pushover but between Rhett helping him with his self-worth and taking charge and Linh, the crazy neighbor, supporting them both, I was so proud when Ethan stood up for himself finally.

I also adored how Rhett opened up and started letting others help him for a change. He finally made a decision about his degree and once he acknowledged his feelings for Ethan, he was ALL IN.

Loved these two so much and this series. I’m so incredibly happy I discovered DJ Jamison last year. 🥰

Man, oh man, I absolutely LOVED this audiobook and story! The narrator, Nick J Russo, did an amazing job distinguishing Christian and Jaxson while adding so much emotion and humor to the story. I read along with the audio and I can honestly say he brought SO MUCH MORE to an already heartwarming story. Christian and Jaxson and Tori were an amazing trio and I’m honestly sad their story is over.

Christian Kringle is the grumpy professor who hates Christmas. When he puts his foot in his mouth and says he has a date for a few parties, his friend signs him up on an app and there he meets a man who lightens his heart and makes him wild. When he finds out it’s the single father next door he’s always butted heads with, the sparks continue to fly.

I just adored Jaxson and Tori. Tori has diabetes and it was handled with care the entire story. He’s a bit overbearing and hesitant about starting a relationship but these two guys can’t deny their chemistry or attraction and I’m so glad they came together.

There’s a little bit of angst, a little bit of steam, and a whole lotta heart. This was an absolute perfect story and audiobook for the holidays and I can definitely see myself listening to it yearly.

To be completely honest, I’m always a bit sceptical about the dad’s best friend trope as it could be a bit cringy and weird, BUT this was not it. Swiped by my Dad’s Best Friend was beautifully written and the relationship between Trace and Cooper never felt weird or forced (tho I need to say that Trace and Cooper’s dad haven’t been friends for a while, so that might have helped.) The characters were amazingly written (as a struggling Uni student, I could totally relate to Cooper’s anxiety and helplessness, bless him) and their relationship was so sweet.
The steamy scenes were very spicy, maybe not my cup of tea, but they were the perfect mix of funny, lovely and steamy.

His eyes softened. “Apparently, I do now.”

Oh how much I loved this. The vibes here were immaculate. Simon and Parker were just perfect together. So different yet so alike. I loved how they both fell in love on Thrust and when they finally found out who they were, it was t too big of a deal. Simon’s character was so amazingly written, I loved reading his internal monologues and hearing his thoughts. This book is definitely an enemies to Lovers worth reading, with the right amount of angst but also so many sparks and so many feelings. As always, the sexy scenes are amazingly written and hot and sweet at the same time. Parker and Simon were made for each other and deep down they’ve always known it. (I loved how Parker told Simon that he never wanted his girlfriend, he wanted his girlfriend’s boyfriend lol).

10/10. I loved this book and the dynamic between Ethan and Rhett. They were so sweet and so hot together. The exploration of Ethan’s sexuality was just incredibly written. All of the confusion and uncertainty of questioning all he thought he knew came through so beautifully. I definitely loved the chemistry between them on and off the futon. I loved how they made each other better (Ethan with his speaking up issues and Rhett with his hero complex) and how Rhett was always and unconditionally by Ethan’s side, whatever he wanted to do. Did it love the miscommunication, like guys! if you got your heads out of your asses half of your heart rake could have been avoided. Rule Five was quite annoying to be honest, Rhett has much more patience than I do because I would have been fed up with it after like the second time.
(I absolutely ADORED Lihn, would love to read more about her.)

I have things to say about this. Loved the plot, the relatively fast burn between Jax and Christian, the sexually charged animosity, Tori was lovely, absolutely loved Jaxson. BUT. For about half of the book I really really hated Christian. And I get that’s the grumpy part of a grumpy/sunshine triple, but every single time the book was from his pov I wanted to punch him. Badly. He was selfish and self centeredand absolutely not considerate of other people’s existence, and I’m nit just talking about the lack of sensitivity towards student-Jaxson, but I think you’d have to be a deeply insera le and selfish person not to realise that there are people having it worse than you and to complain about “having” to make someone else’s life a bit better. I was waiting for Jaxson to either punch him or to shake (or fuck) some sense into him. With this being said, Christian had an amazing character development and I loved him with Tori.

“Honestly? No. It’s not for him; it’s for me,” Jaxson said. “Because I desperately want to kiss you. But I wouldn’t mind if it made him back the fuck off.”

SWIPED BY MY DAD’S BEST FRIEND

Cooper and Trace were fun. A hookup app called Thrust brought them together but when they both realize who each other is, they decide it’s not worth it. Only problem is they can’t stay away from each other.

Reasons I Recommend:

1) I like DJ Jamison’s writing style and I really enjoyed this world but I knew before I started this one, it wasn’t for me. The whole daddy kink personally weirds me but I did enjoy the way Trace took care of Cooper

2) I liked how Cooper became more assertive in his own life because of Trace and

3) Cooper calling Trace to come get him was a really good scene but only 2 stars just because of the daddy kink which is really not for me in any capacity.

MATCHED BY MY RIVAL

Loved the second book in the series, enemies to lovers and it was great. Simon’s life is tossed upside down when he punches Parker in a rage that gets him thrown off the football team. He’s doing everything he can to stay in school now that he’s lost his scholarship so when the guy he’s meeting on the Thrust app turns out to be one guy who took his life, sparks fly.

Reasons I Recommend:

1) Simon hates Parker but Parker has a bit of a crush and loves to needle him which makes Simon more angry

2) Parker’s fears of letting others down and how that coincides with Simon’s fear and

3) The paint scene and the game of frisbee with the bet were chef’s kiss.

TAPPED BY MY ROOMMATE

Ethan is a bit of a nerd with an obsession with bowties, suspenders, and Godzilla. He’s dealing with a crazy ex who won’t return his lizard, destroyed his things, and seriously chipped away at his self confidence. When his roommate kisses him, Ethan begins to question the one thing he had been sure of before the kiss, his sexuality. Only when he tries to explore with the Thrust app, the man turns out to be Rhett, his roommate.

Reasons I Recommend:

1) Love Rhett’s hero complex and his own side story with his family

2) Love how Rhett helps Ethan gain his confidence back and learns that being a hero doesn’t always mean rushing in and

3) Lots of lizard jokes, a hilarious neighbour, and more.

SEXTED BY SANTA

I liked this one more than I expected. A grumpy next door neighbour named Christian Kringle who hates Christmas and the younger single dad next door. When Christian’s best friend makes him a profile on Thrust in an effort to help him find a date for the staff Christmas party and his aunt forces him to be Santa for a good cause, his grumpiness is high but when he matches with the guy who seems too good to be true and Jaxson turns out to be his neighbour, it’s more than they bargained for.

Reasons I Recommend:

1) Jaxson’s not a William or a Bob which I found funnier than I should have, but the whole Santa thing was hilarious

2) Love good single dad stories and the whole seeing Christian fall for Tori was chef’s kiss (lmao Santa Daddy) and

3) Aunt Henry is a riot, Fynn is a douche, and Sir Elton steals the show.

I read the books in this collection when they were first released and I loved all of them.  In my review of every one of these books I said that DJ Jamison's writing just keeps getting better and better and that is still true of the books that she's released since then.  For this collection I'll give a quick recap of my review for each story and then provide a link to the full review if you'd care to read it.

I hadn't read too many "daddy/boy" books when I read this one and I said then that daddy/boy books would probably never become my favorite in the MM romance world but because several of my favorite authors were writing them, I'm going to read them.  This was one of the best books I've read by DJ Jamison (at the time of the original review).  The writing was smooth and tight with nothing that muddied up the story.  Full review here.

This was a great enemies-to-lovers story. Although Parker never considered Simon an enemy, Simon sure didn’t like Parker for quite a way into the story. It also had a bit of a slow-burn feel because Simon (BiCuriousStud) and Parker (HotPan22) chat for several weeks using the Thrust app before they meet and find out who they’ve been chatting with.  Full review here.

I really liked this book. Rhett is attracted to Ethan but he knows that Ethan is straight. After a drunken kiss one evening he realizes that there is some great chemistry between them. Ethan eventually decides he wants to experiment to figure out if he’s really bi or not and Rhett agrees to help him out.  Full review here.

I just can’t say enough good things about this story. I love the reluctant Santa aspect, I love Christian’s interactions with Jaxson’s daughter, Tori, and I love how Christian and Jaxon are able to work out their problems and quickly get over the bump in their relationship.  Full review here.

I had read a couple of these stories before this bundle was available, but I m a fan of re-reading and this bundle is definitely worth it.

Swipped by my dad’s best friend
3*

I am not a great fan of the Daddy kink and this book partially confirmed my difficulty to appreciate the dynamic between a Daddy and his boy. However in this story I liked the fact that Trace, the Daddy, was not perfect, had his insecurities and real life work problems. And even though Cooper needed guidance and meaningful praises in order to find his inner balance, once he finally found his calling and something worth fighting for, he showed that he had real backbone and acted accordingly.

Overall a nice read, nothing exceptional, but enjoyable under the sun.

Matched by my rival
4*

I would include this story among the literary genre of the coming-of-age story, because at the end of this book both MCs have grown into two adult men who chose their path of life without giving in to others’ expectations but following their heart, their personal aspirations, and most importantly living out and proud their relationship.

Parker and Simon start off as two pretty typical college students facing the ups and downs of unexpected block roads on their previously established path, with little space and room to fully enjoy the first stages of their attraction.

I loved the fact that they got to know each other thanks to an online dating app, because otherwise they would have certainly missed the opportunity to discover step by step, without external and visual distractions, the potential of their deep connection.

A well written storyline that evolves smoothly without major hiccups. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and I am honestly happy to recommend it.

“Love leaves no room for regret”

I loved this Christmas tale - full stop. What else can I add?

When I have a hard time putting to words why I love a book, I like to quote some of the phrases that best describe the mood and the spirit of the story, like “He was friendship and comfort and acceptance all wrapped up in a very sexy package”.

Chris and Jax are wonderful characters, so real, their emotions run deep and their relationship with Jax’s daughter, Tori, is essential to their bonding.

“Finding the right person, when you did, you didn’t have to worry about becoming everything that person needed. You were already enough.” - No over the top romance, but simply a real bond that helps each man to be the best version of himself.

A highly recommended read for Christmas.

I didn't get a chance to read Thrust into Love when the books first came out. So this four book collection was great. Book One Swiped by my Dad's Best friend was an age gap story. But not your typical one. The sexy scenes, some done over a phone and Skype were hot. Cooper and Trace need to keep their relationship from Cooper's dad. So of course, dad finds out the worst possible way.
Worldbuilding was excellent. We're introduced to the guys who will get books next. The side stories, a business in trouble and a frat volunteering to rehab homes for lower income residents in town, added color to the story.
Book Two Matched by my Rival was an enemies to lovers/rivals to lovers, bi-curious story. Angsty. Simon has a lot of anger; he lost his football scholarship after punching another player. The bright spot in his life is the sexting a guy he never met. The texts become conversations, which is sweet. Simon arranges to meet the guy and it turns out to be his rival, Parker. After all the angsty bemoaning, they start a relationship. Then, they have to come out to friends and teammates. A well written story.
My favorite books were the last two. Book three, Tapped by my Roommate, has an awful title, but this was the most fun to read. I love geeky characters. Ethan is so sweet. Rhett is so protective. Another story of a bi-curious guy. Rhett is sure he's not relationship material. They end up matching on a hookup app, and are surprised when they meet at a motel.
I loved the hookup list with it's 'what happens at fight club' vibes. Their relationship was awkwardly sexy with Ethan making a list of what he wants to try, and checking off as things done. And after everything is checked off, neither knows how to proceed. All it takes for a HEA is a lizard rescue and some pushiness from friends and family.
Book four Sexted by Santa was hands down my favorite. Age difference and fake boyfriends tropes. Christian Kringle is a college professor who dislikes all things Christmas and Jaxson is a nurse's aide and single dad. They're neighbors and have unknowingly been texting on a hookup app. They meet and somehow click. Christian needs a date for his faculty party and soon they're fake dating and sexting. There's a jealous ex, an excitable Yorkie and sweet eight year old Tori.
I liked how, when they 'met' at the restaurant, they decided to take a chance. Tori's illness was horrifyingly real as was the panic and guilt Jaxson and Christian felt. This was a really sweet story.
The collection was quick reading. Lots of fun.
I received an advance copy of this book and this is my review.

Swiped by My Dad's Best Friend

Cooper is such a sweet character. He is drifting thru college. He wants so much to please his father but what his father wants for his life doesn't interest him. Ironically, he finds what he needs thru a hook up app. Trace is in town to give a speech at the alumni lecture series, and attempt to rekindle the friendship with Matthew that was destroyed many years earlier.
Although, initially put off when he realizes his hook is his old friend's son he rapidly begins to care for Cooper and wants to guide his to the future Cooper wants not Matthew's dream.

Matched by My Rival

Simon has always dreamed of the NFL and trained hard with laser focus. His plan is to be drafted and pay for his sister to go to culinary school. His body has other plans. After repeated injuries he knows that dream is dead.
Parker is a natural. He has been living out his mother's dream of a professional career. Parker has other dreams.
Simon can't understand why Parker doesn't want to go pro. He can't understand why his sister would rather take online classes and be with her son than go to a "real" school.
Everyone must find their own dream and not try to live out someone else's.

Tapped by My Roommate

What's not to love, a psycho ex, an iguana being held hostage by said ex, a bi-curious awakening, and a flirtatious bartender-roommate. When Ethan wants to explore Rhett steps up to the plate to protect Ethan from predators. With Rhett having his back, Ethan learns to stand up to Tess and gain the courage to go after what he wants. With Zilla back under his protection, Ethan finds the courage to grasp his future and convince Rhett to follow his heart not just the money. Low angst and a good time had by all. Loved Linh too.

Sexted by Santa

Christian Kringle hates Christmas with capital letters. His boss is trying to set him up with her brother, so he claims to have a boyfriend that he needs to take to the faculty Christmas party. His Aunt Henry has bamboozled him into playing Santa for 3 charity events, a nursing home, a homeless shelter, and the pediatric ward at them local hospital. He also needs a date for Henry's Christmas dinner party because his ex will be with his former best friend. Can he hate Christmas more.
His neighbor, Jaxon, comes to his rescue. He will "fake" date him. As they spend time together and with Jaxon's daughter, Tori, Christian believes maybe a relationship will work. When Tori has a health crisis, Christian's faith in his ability to be a real partner is challenged.

Thrust Into Love: a great DJ Jamison 4-book bundle
Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2024
I loved all four of these books when I first read them, and loved them all again when I got a chance to read them in the newly bundled format (I received an advance copy.)

Swiped by my Dad's Best Friend

Copper and Trace seem like the least likely couple but there’s something that works despite the odds. Jamison always weaves a great story, and this one is full of heart as well as heat. The whole series is great but Swiped By My Dad’s Best Friend is particularly fun.

Matched by my Rival

Simon and Parker are enemies on the football field and off, but after Prentiss gets kicked off the team, his whole world changes. Book two of DJ Jamison’s Thrust Into Love series is about finding your dream and following it, while being open to dreams changing.

Tapped by my Roommate

Ethan and Rhett, roommates first, then extended hookup buddies, finally end up boyfriends. This book is lots of fun, another great story where both men learn about themselves through getting to know each other, trusting each other, and being brave.

Sexted by Santa, Thrust Into Love book four, Christian and Jaxon

The final book in the series is perhaps the most intense because of Christian and Jaxon's own issues (Jaxon has trust and abandonment issues, Christian has self-esteem in relationship issues), and because of Tori, an eight year old recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, whose storyline is woven into the book beautifully. This one had a lot to say about parenting, and about moving on from past experiences. A great end to the series.

Swiped By My Dad's Best Friend review
When I saw there was a chance to own the Thrust into Love Collection by D.J Jamison, I leaped at the chance to get it. The first story (Swiped by My Dad's Best Friend) is centered around the dad's best friend trope and I definitely enjoyed it. Cooper and Trace fit perfectly together and made their relationship work, even with certain obstacles in their way. There were even cameos from certain characters from earlier series!
Matched By My Rival review:
I'm a sucker for a good enemies-to-lovers trope and D.J. Jamison did not disappoint. Watching how Simon and Parker went from being rivals on their college football team to lovers was a satisfying tale. I loved how the Thrust app allowed them to explore and get to know each other. There was great emotional connection and vulnerability in this story.
Tapped by My Roommate review:
If I had to come up with one word to describe this book, it'd be "exploration." Both Ethan and Rhett explore different things in this book-intimacy with each other, figuring out sexuality, and the relationships they have with the people in their lives. I loved watching Ethan again confidence in himself over the course of the book.
Sexted by Santa review:
This one has so much in it- grumpy/sunshine, neighbors, kid with diabetes, both MC's burned by love, difficulties with blood family. I loved the found family in this story- they mean so much more because we choose our found family, rather than feeling obligated because they're blood. Christian and Jaxson fought hard for their eventual HEA.

A great collection of MM romances. My reviews of the individual stories:
Swiped by my Dad's Best Friend:
An enjoyable romance between a college boy and his Dad's former best friend. It's low angst, nice characters, good pace, a pretty Hallmarkish romance, if Hallmark did Daddy kink! Cooper is a college kid trying to figure his life out, and Trace the older man who helps him, in more ways than one! So if you like your kinky romances on the fluffier side, this one is for you.

Matched by My Rival:
Surprisingly sweet. Simon's temper causes him to lose his football scholarship, leaving him to pick up the pieces of his life. He partly blames Parker for his misfortune but Parker wins him round via a dating app! A good coming of age story as they both decide what's most important to them in life.

Tapped by My Roommate:
My favourite, but I love a geek, and Ethan is a great one! He is someone who is taken advantage of far too much, and I got very angry on his behalf about what his ex-girlfriend does to him. I was mainly hoping after that for her to get her comeuppance. But Rhett is the great guy he deserves. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Sexted by Santa:
Another enjoyable low angst story. Christian has become something of a Christmas scrooge over the years, but his lovely neighbour Jaxson and Jaxson's adorable daughter help him see the error of his ways and the joy of Christmas. Very Hallmark and very Christmas!

This collection includes some really enjoyable reads:

Swiped By My Dad’s Best Friend:

Trace and Cooper have great emotional and physical chemistry, and I liked that they make mistakes, learn, grow stronger together etc. The dynamic they share isn’t usually one of my favorites but it really works for them, and it’s easy to invest in them both.

Matched By My Rival:

Loved the tropes in this one: enemies to lovers, online crush who turns out to be the last person you’d expect (but the one you really want), a grumpy/sunshine vibe…it’s hard not to like Simon and Parker and their story makes a fun read.

Tapped By My Roommate:

Ethan and Rhett are a lot, in mostly the best ways. Their friendly-roomates-to-lovers trajectory turns on them both being deeply endearing, Ethan being terrible at social cues and great at saying exactly the wrong thing, and a whole lot of the “avoidable misunderstanding” trope. In some ways, there guys are actually my favorite pairing in the whole collection— they’re easy to care about and root for.

Sexted by Santa:

Christian and Jaxon have an enemies-to-lovers holiday romance (enemies might be pushing it but they don’t start in a good place, thanks almost entirely to Christian being an incredible tool for the early chapters of the book). It took me a minute to warm up to the non-grinch version of his character, which in fairness is a kind, caring, and likable one, but I loved Jaxon from the jump, and I loved Tori even more— she’s both adorable and feels like a real person, and her diabetes is portrayed with thoughtfulness and care.

It's a pleasure reading DJ Jamison and in this case, rereading this four book collection that has some of my favorite DJ stories. In the first "Swiped by My Dad's Best Friend" a bratty, needy Cooper wants a Daddy, but not just anyone. He wants his Dad's BF, Trace who can't stop himself from loving and spanking his irresistible boy. In the second interrelated book "Matched by My Rival", Simon and Parker are enemies that become lovers. It's about broken dreams and some choices only made to please others. It's also about finding love through an app and sneaking around for hot sex. "Tapped by My Roommate" has a flirty gay bartender Rhett helping out his geeky roommate with a toxic ex. There is something about taking it slow in a relationship, a seductive awakening. The last story is "Sexted by Santa" with a Santa playing Christian and his much younger neighbor Jaxson. Christian is a grumpy, bit of a not nice name and Jaxson has the responsibility of a diabetic daughter. It's a classic Grinch story! DJ has a way with college guys, writing stories that heat you up. Each book is a jewel to enjoy and it's a great collection with hot times and abundances of love. I received a copy of this book through Neon Rainbow and this is my honest opinion.

Overall this collection of four books was find but I struggled to read book 3
1. Swiped By My Dad’s Best Friend was a fun book which makes you think it’s a Daddy kink but it’s not really. It’s more an age gap story. Cooper and Trace are good together and I really liked the premise of this story especially the community help.

2. Matched By My Rival was my favourite of the four stories. Simon was so tense and bottled everything up until it imploded. Parker was the person who seemed to have everything come to him easily. Their story was at times predictable but well written and intriguing to see what actually happens.

3. Tapped By My Roommate is a typical roommates story and the one that I struggled to get into. I’m not sure why as I liked Rhett from the previous book. I did like the wildlife aspect of the story and was happy to see Ethan and Zella reunite.

4. Sexted By Santa was hilarious. From the main character being named Christian Kringle and hating Christmas and the coincidences between he and Jaxson in the past. Hate to Love story are generally good and this one certainly was. Loved the details of Tori’s illness as well.

Wow these four books were all wonderful the first book is about Cooper & Trace with a older and younger man but they seem to make a great couple ,,and the next book is about Simon & Parker football and rivalry at its best until they understand the real reason for the rivalry,, and the next book is about Ethan & Rhett they are total opposite but in a great way when the learn that helping each other is the best way to a better future ,,and finally the last book about Christian & Jaxson and older man a professor bad in relationships and a young father trying to raise his daughter with diabetes without any support but a friend of Christian helps sets up a dating site and with other family and friends they find more than everything they could ask for .. I read this books in four days because I could not put it down I needed to read every story the author did a wonderful job writing about all these different couples that were only wanting love .i read these books for free for my honest opinion

An excellent collection, a great variety of tropes, and lots of great characters. I loved all the books in this set, but my favorite was Trapped by My Roommate. Rhett and Ethan are an amazing couple, these two are quirky and adorable together. I loved this take on the nerd jock romance, plus the epilogue is just perfection. Matched by My Rival is a well done enemies to lovers romance. After a fight cost Simon his place on the team, he must sit by and watch Parker’s success. I especially enjoyed shifting between their seething face to face relationship and the genuinely sweet dynamic they develop over the hook up app. Swiped by My Dad’s Best Friend, father’s best friend is a favorite trope of mine and this was a wonderfully take. Cooper and Trace have the perfect mix of steam and sweetness and I loved seeing Cooper thrive under Trace’s care. Sexted by Santa is a cute and spicy holiday romance, with some truly top notch naughty texting. These are all strong stories with humor, heart, and excellent steam.

I enjoyed this box set, first book of Trace and Cooper really set off this series. I love the chemistry between the two especially it being father’s best friend trope. Book two brought Simon and Parker as enemies due to loving same sport but Simon lost his chance. It was a great story, I love this trope being enemies to lovers. Book 3 was a story of roommates Ethan and Rhett falling for each other. It was nice to see the change of Ethan growing stronger and taking control of what mattered. Finally book 4 was my favorite trope of grouch and a single dad. I really enjoyed Christian, Jaxson and cannot forget little Tori. They made a nice family, I really enjoyed all the stories. The only thing since it was a series I wish all the characters would have showed up at one point in each stories. Each book had only one couple from previous books but I would have like to see them all. All in all this was a great box set, highly recommended!

This is a great bundle of stories. Overall I rate it 4 stars. In general, the books are all easy to read, fun and entertaining, and I like the MCs.  Every trope is different, which makes it all the more interesting. The only thing is that I could have given the first book a miss; I don't love 'Daddy' kink, I found some of the scenes a little cringy, and it was a bit boring for me, especially the first half. But the next three books really picked up, and I enjoyed them very much. I liked Simon and Parker's story, with the friends to lovers trope. Book 3 was especially fun, with Rhett helping Ethan retrieve his lizard that his ex held captive (this is especially good as an audiobook, by the way). I love a good sunshine/grump story and neighbours trope like Christian's and Jaxson's, which was very enjoyable.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was delighted to download this box set, I love a box set anyway and a chunky four-book collection by DJ Jamison? Yes please! I hadn't realised before I started reading but this is slightly related to the Love Notes collection, another box set by DJ I very much enjoyed. Although there's some character cameos all of the books can be read as standalones.

In this box set we have a great mix of tropes and dynamics, like daddy/boy, enemies-to-lovers and jock/nerd. I enjoyed all the characters, and as always, DJ writes great chemistry and swoony romance. I very much enjoyed it and only hope it can be made into an audio box set to match my Love Notes audio!

What is better than one DJ Jamison book.....a collection of DJ Jamison books! All four books in the Thrust Into Love collection are excellent. Just be sure you have plenty of free time because instead of having one book you don't want to put down you have four! Each book is a different theme/trope but each of them have great characters and well written stories. One of my favorite things about DJ Jamison's books are that their characters are relatable. There are some tense moments but there are plenty of laugh out loud moments too! I can't wait for more!!

I am an immense fan of the author's work.
Wonderful, realistic, relatable characters and always filled with sweet, sexy moments and lots of laughter.
I absolutely enjoyed all of the books in this collection but my absolute favorite is Sexted By Santa.
I loved Chris, Jax and Tori.
They're both dealing with some serious issues in the form of betrayal, abandonment and coping with a child's medical issue.
Jax and Tori bring light, love and laughter back into Chris's life and Chris is able to help ease some of the worry and strain off of Jax's shoulders from dealing with Tori's issue.

Matched by My Rival, Simon and Parker’s book gives you enemies to lovers and grumpy/sunshine feels. The last two books gives us friends and another round of enemies.
