Natasha is completely alone, although she's surrounded by people. Freshly arrived in England on a train full of refugees from a vicious war in mainland Europe, she's left everything behind. Including her fourteen year old son.
It's not long before she runs into trouble. Natasha finds herself in peril, surrounded in a dark London alleyway by men who wish her harm. But also in the alleyway is a man in a robe. A preacher with a most unusual skill set for a man of the cloth.
Shortly after Natasha is rescued from the alleyway, she gets the most horrendous news. Her son, who was supposed to be joining her in England, has decided to stay and fight for his country. He's all she has, and she turns to the preacher for help.
He wore a uniform once, but it was many years ago. He's no stranger to the battlefield, but this isn't his war. He's in England for an entirely different reason.
Nathan Burrows is a writer based in Norfolk in the United Kingdom. His debut novel, Blind Justice, was published in March 2018.
Nathan's a keen reader as well as a writer. He occasionally runs marathons, has a Norwich City football club season ticket, and is the proud part-owner of a Daschund puppy called Bertie.
The Preacher, Caleb, is on the move again helping people in distress. This time it is war victims facing genocide due to an overbearing regime. Some escape to England, some are left behind. Heartbreak, hope, despair, compassion, brutality, revenge and a smothering of action are present in this writing. It seems like Caleb is truly capable of miracles considering some of the feats he accomplishes. This is a fast read with an excellent ending revealing a proper resolution.
Caleb seemed more of a bit character in this book and it all happens in the last 20-25 % of book- several side stories going on , but go nowhere. Disappointed with this one
I am really enjoying the Preacher series. Nathan Burrows once again delivers in this third installment which finds Caleb caught up in the civil war in Belarus in two daring rescue missions after meeting a refugee from Belarus in London. This one sure keeps you on your toes.
But this one sweeps to a crescendo over the last quarter of the book. This book will touch your heart and move you to tears as it brings the conflict in the Ukraine region into sharp focus. Mr. Burrows also sharply brings into almost telescopic focus that there are both truly good and truly evil people on both sides of the conflict as well as those not truly involved except in the extension of helping hands and in saving those involved... This book touched me deeply and at the end, caused me to cry silently for so many who are living this reality. One can only hope that there is a "Preacher" who moves among them sharing his grace and battlefield knowledge.... This series is a special one that just keeps getting better and better! Bravo and hats off to you, Mr. Burrows! If there were more stars to be given, I would do so gladly!
Caleb becomes embroiled in a conflict in Belarus pitting insurgents against Russian mercenaries allied with government troops.
Meeting Natasha in a London train station, a refugee who has been forced to leave her family behind, Caleb intervenes when local toughs try to rob her. Cut in the scuffle, he is patched up by a volunteer doctor, Phoebe.
Heading off to nearby Poland, can Caleb and Phoebe rescue Natasha’s husband and son.
This is a fast paced thriller with a fresh setting.
I keep thinking that this series will get boring and unnatural, but to date it hasn’t.
Caleb always “has to be somewhere”, and it always seems to be the right place. When things turn into disasters or peril, he has options One, Two, or Three (read the series to know their meaning), seemingly always picking the correct one.
On to the next for me, Nathan Burrows satisfies my need for adventurous mystery….
I gave this four stars as it was well written. The story interesting and topical. However I thought caleb's character throughout was not very strong, being more focused on all the other characters. I would say, this is my least favourite story so far, but I would read more in this series.
Once again Nathan Burrows has written an edge of your seat action thriller. All the many characters in this story are amazing. Caleb of course is the best, but i really liked Dr. Phoebe, and also Mikhail. And the ending is the best. Looking forward to book 4.
Don’t know Caleb’s back story but it appears he’s guided by God to assist those who need him. Along the way he meets men and women who enrich him as he enriches them.
Liked this less than the previous two. Tiring of the formulaic approach, Caleb meets girl, saves girl, has sex with girl (different girl in this case) and then saves the day.
Another good installment - I really like the pace of the story - it’s all action no padding where it’s not needed, easy to read and you don’t want to put it down
Loving this series...moving to the next one! Thank you, Nathan for being so creative! Caleb is a character you don't see coming, and hate to see leave!
