Autumn is still reeling from becoming an FBI agent and her first 'official case when another one comes up. Seems she can't even catch her breath. This one is in Washington D.C. six people are killed but why? What do they all have in common? Not only that but Chris Parker another agent isn't shy about his feelings about her becoming an agent. Then there is her personal side that seems to never fall into place. Can she and the rest of the team help solve this case and get the rest they all need before the next one? I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series about Autumn Trent and look forward to it continuing. It is also really lovely that you can still follow Winter Black and Noah. I love everything about these books, the Characters are great, the description with the story line is enthralling. I can really recommend these books, and look forward to more. Well done Mary Stone.
Look at us 18 books in and STILL dragging the same storyline around. Will the main characters be outsmarted by the antagonist- yes. Will the main “strong females” need to disobey direct orders to be the heroes & put everyone in harm’s way resulting in someone getting injured? Yes. Will there STILL be the background story of the “killer at large that no one can stop”? Yes. Will Mary Stone make us listen to the constant recap of the previous 17 books? yes…at this point it’s safe to say I could write the next book & no one would know the difference. I’m now certain that Winter Black & Autumn Trent are not the smart, tough, solid FBI Special Agents we had hoped for - they are predictable & highly emotional and clueless. Chris Parker’s attitude consistently goes unchecked & no one has yet to think “wow he’s extremely hostile to our team lead & members could HE be the leak”? Heck no! I will be breezing through to finish the series but certain I already know what will happen - that’s my challenge. How often will I be right?

Autumn, Winter, Noah, Chris, Mia and Aiden are sent to help the Washington DC FBI office solve a series of murders. Wealthy couples are being murdered in a gruesome manner. A new character, Emma Last, is introduced in this book. Emma is assigned to help them solve the murders.
Aiden is being distant with Autumn due to a misinterpretation of something he saw. Chris is Chris; however, he starts to sound more friendly. Winter is still dealing with her time with Justin and Noah is still worried about her. Autumn has to deal with seeing Adam Latham as it appears he may be involved in the murders.
Will the group be able to find the murderer before another couple dies? Does Aiden and Autumn get together? Is Winter really getting better? Who is watching Autumn? Read the book and discover some of the answers.
Mary Stone has another winner in Autumn’s Strike. I highly recommend you read all her books as you will not be disappointed.
As usual I thoroughly enjoyed Autumn Trent’s newest case.
The writing is fast paced, the situations intricate and the characters believable. The villains are vicious and you find yourself rooting for the FBI to foible the villain before the next victim falls.
On a personal level the characters have a lot of work to do on themselves which provides relief from only concentrating on solving the case and gives the reader a breather yet totally involved in the characters welfare at the same time. I sometimes wish however that the author would get on with it and actually solve a mystery/problem in her characters lives.
I look forward to the next book with great anticipation and recommend this series to anyone interested in crime stories with a personal twist.
Winter and her FBI team are called to Washington to help with a case where couples are being murdered. What do these couples have in common? They are all being receiving couples therapy from the same therapist. The therapist who assaulted Winter at her last job. While Autumn hates the suspect, she's not sure he could be a murderer. The case was fascinating as usual. I felt the pace on this one was a little bit slower than the previous books but it still moved quickly. I appreciated the resolution of the case and that there team worked well together. Agent Chris Parker continues to give Autumn a difficult time. I'm sure there will be more on that in future books. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Winter is weaning off the Vicodin, beating her addiction. She's very thin and frail and hears Justin in her head, antagonizing her. She's getting stronger and finally doesn't hear Justin any longer. Autumn goes undercover at Harmony House connecting murders to a resident there, Winter takes him down. They return home and quickly are called to the DC office to help catch a serial killer. Four couples have been brutally murdered. Agent Emma Last and Winter figure out who it is and who the next couple is and along with Autumn the three stop and arrest the killer. Aiden and Autumn finally act on their feelings, unknown to them Autumn has a stalker. Great story from a great storyteller.
Will they be followed by Spring and Summer? If we're lucky! I have enjoyed these stories so far, and am eager to see what comes next. However I must say, I am ready for a few nice, relaxing, GOOD time stories as much as the agents are! The only "negative" I can share is merely a personal dislike for the amount of profanity and sexual slang used. I am quite old-fashioned that way, but that isn't a bad thing. It simply isn't my "cup of tea", but I am able to "call it something else and move on", so it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the stories. At least, so far. Looking forward to more!
I don’t think I’m going to continue with the Autumn and Winter series. Not a fan of the drama between Autumn and Aiden. I think Emma would have been a better match for him. And Winter’s a freaky delusional head case and shouldn’t be allowed at work. Well, I guess this is today’s FBI after all. Also the never ending fixation on Agent Parker’s blond hair is a thinly veiled intentional Freudian slip of someone else. Not amused. Even though this ended “to be continued”, it won’t be for me, at least for now or in the near future.
This is another fantastic read by Mary Stone. The BAU team is called to Washington DC to assist in home invasions that end up with young wealthy couples being stabbed to death. This leads them to a well respected psychology clinic, but why? There are several good twists, and a very surprising ending.
A truly insane serial killer becomes bold and reckless, wreaking bloody havoc upon the wealthiest scions of Washington, D.C.’s neighborhoods, as the team is called in to assist the D.C. field office while its members deal with unique and discrete personal challenges.
I love this series and look forward to each book. Great book, and incredibly well written, but leaves me wanting more! There is so much in this story, it has layers of drama, action and a smoldering romance, as well as the whodunnit of this book. One of my favorite series.
For some reason, this installment of the Autumn Trent series, resonated with me. I could actually relate to some of the sub-characters more. Especially, Sloan Grant, "We are the worst person in the room...and the best." At least Autumn wasn't tied to a chair with a suicide bag over her head, this time.
When Aiden Parish and the Richmond VCU are called in to assist their counterparts at the DC FBI, two very different mindsets collide. Neal Forrester 's unit operates under a laid back family model, while Parishes tram is all business with an underlying unity of love.
I enjoy Mary Stones books because they are well written. They make ensemble. Her characters are real humans. She never wanders Ainsley when she writes. She tells the story. There is just enough grim and gore to make it a crime novel without being overwhelming. I gave it 5 stars because 6 books in and I’m still interested.
I am only reading these because they are free. I skip over the absolutely hideous details of death and destruction. God alone knows why some people like it. But there were some insights in this particular book that saved it for me. I still think they all need editing.
A very interesting story. New people came into this story which usually happens in each story. Agent Black is getting better but still isn't at a full level. An individual with a mental issue began to kill couples to clean up the world. The way the FBI had to navigate to get information was interesting.
First-rate addition to the Autumn Tent series finds her called to Washington, DC to investigate a series of home invasions. The six victims have very little in common other than they’re all wealthy couples brutally slayed just hours before hosting a dinner party. Enjoyable, fast paced and well written.
Of course book #16 of the series is just as good as reading the first book in the series. Mary Stone has not disappointed in any of these books. I am excited for the next book before I even finish the one before. Every book comes with a new relationship, a new adventure, and a new mystery.
I like the Autumn series ... BUT .... you, Mary Stone, need to adequately, REALLY conclude Winter's series and the whole Justin Black under story tells us, you haven't. If that was totally resolved, we could FULLY engage in Autumn's story.
As usual I enjoyed this Autumn,Winter, Noah story! I’m already looking forward to the adventures continuing!! It’s been that way with all of Mary Stones previous Novels, so I wasn’t disappointed this time either!! T
Each book gets better!! I enjoyed this one with all of the thrills and suspense. I am so glad Aiden and Autumn are finally getting together!!! I cannot wait for the next book!!!
All i can say is i can't wait for book eight and the drama to continue! All the characters in this series are just such a perfect fit and hold your suspense in every book!
That was a nail biting experience. I have read all the books related to Winter Black and Autumn Trent. They are interesting and nail biting experience. Thanks for sharing
This series is soooo good and never disappoints!! I love all the characters that work so well together like family. There’s great action and suspense with some good twists and turns!! Awesome reading and hard to put down. Always look forward to the next book.
The depth of these crazies in these books is astonding. The author puts you right there on the scene's. If you are into mysteries these books are for you. And who is Autumn's on personal crazie????? I wish I knew, and I am ready for the next book.....
Serial killers in the U. S. seem to have multiplied. Mary Stone seems to have researched her material very well. She makes Autumn and the rest of the FBI very realistic. Must Read!!
