My name’s Aidan Grey. I’m a twelve—hold up—nearly thirteen-year-old student at P.O.E Academy, and I study the works of Edgar Allan Poe. My birthday is around the corner, but it’s hard to be excited with all this crushing anxiety. Anxiety over what, you ask? Well, it’s not because final exams are coming, and it’s definitely not because of the horrific incident at the Archives—although that, too, has me on edge. Something even more unnerving has been happening. Vivid, life-like nightmares haunt me. I wake up groggy and confused, detached from reality. I don’t know what to do or who to tell. My parents? My friends? The professor? Maybe I’ll just handle this on my own...
This was the best book so far. I also like that I'm learning so much more about Poe tucked inside these stories. I had no idea that he had served in the military. I also like that the stakes increase in each book. These are not standalones. Each book leads into the next. I'll be starting the next one soon
In Poe Prophecies: A Dream Within a Dream, P. Anastasia reimagines one of Edgar Allan Poe’s most haunting poems, transforming its themes of illusion, time, and the fragility of reality into a suspenseful, fast-moving narrative. The book captures the melancholy essence of Poe’s verse while blending it with a fresh storyline that feels accessible and modern.
Anastasia shines in her ability to weave atmosphere with action. The story evokes a dreamlike quality, full of blurred boundaries between perception and truth, while still delivering gripping scenes that keep the reader hooked. The protagonist’s struggle with what is real and what is slipping away mirrors Poe’s original themes beautifully, making the adaptation both a tribute and a reinvention.
At times, the novel favors speed over depth—certain character arcs could have been explored more fully, and moments of reflection sometimes give way too quickly to action. However, this faster pacing also makes the story highly readable, especially for younger audiences or readers new to Poe’s work.
Overall, Poe Prophecies: A Dream Within a Dream is a captivating installment in the series—both eerie and thought-provoking. While it may not linger as heavily in philosophical darkness as Poe himself, it offers a creative, compelling entry point into one of his most enigmatic works.
A gripping tale that is in league with the Percy Jackson series, that focuses on those who seek to dive deeper into Edgar Allen Poe's works, or as the characters call him "the Prophet". I can't wait to see where this series takes us in Aiden Grey's story of self discovery and reflection through his first year in the academy and beyond. I cannot wait for book 6.
How do her books get better and better! This one kept me glued to the page! I just finished it this second and I've got the next one out and ready to start it! I'm so excited I can't wait!
I highly recommend this book to anybody who loves to read a great book!
Alright this book was different then the others and I liked it. It is Aiden time to shine. With the special archives burnt down he's lost and not sure what to do. He's also turning 13 but NOW he's having dreams that he's Poe. A short story with a lot going on. Love it!!
Overall a good Fourth Installment, with us finding new information about Aiden, and a new twist in the story. Yet, the novels still do fall kind of flat. That said, I do enjoy them.
Well, now we learned there is more to Aidan than we realized did you hear crying? Now he’s having nightmares that may or may not be premonition. We also learn about the outcome of the archives.
