A quirky marine archeologist and a grumpy jaded fisherman are forced to spend the summer together. Or drown trying...
Shipwrecks and heartbreaks are oddly similar. Both are reminders that all it takes is one devastating blow to sink something that was once beautiful. Then all you're left with is a pile of wreckage that clutters up the ocean
Okay, so analogies aren’t Perry Ford’s strong suit. But he’s learned to cope with his heartbreak. He’s fine. Alone.
Yet when a pink-haired pixie waltzes onto his dock with a commission that says he’s supposed to be her water taxi for the duration of the summer, he soon realizes that coping and thriving are two very different things.
To say she was excited about unearthing a shipwreck off the coast of Willow Cove for the summer didn’t even begin to describe Lola’s giddiness over her new job. Treasure hunting… The beach… Sand in her toes and sun on her skin… A grumpy fisherman who can’t seem to stand the sight of her.
But surely once Perry gets to know her, he’ll like her… right? And why when she finds out a secret about him, does she want to be the one to show him that happily-ever-afters aren’t just a thing for fairytales?
Despite his surly exterior, Lola knows there’s a heart as deep as the ocean under all that tan rugged handsomeness. As a marine archeologist, digging up priceless artifacts is what she does. But excavating Perry's heart? That might be her toughest job yet.
** Ship Fate is a sweet enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine romantic comedy set in the small town of Willow Cove. **
Dulcie is a wife and mother who channels her free spirit into the stories she pours onto the page. Her romance writing obsession turned day job is fueled by caffeine, sarcasm, and kisses from her bearded grump. If you love stories with sizzling tension minus the spice, add her books to your never-ending TBRs.
Lola is a marine archeologist who came to a small South Carolina coastal town to excavate a ship wreck. Her museum contracted a ship called THE DAINTY DUCHESS, manned by a grumpy guy named Perry.
Perry’s claim to fame is grumpiness and an adorable pug with three legs named Bertie. Needless to say, Lola with her pink hair and odd sense of style rubbed Perry the wrong way. To make matters worse, she also rented the cottage owned by he and his sister, right next to Perry’s garage apartment.
Perry and Lola are an opposites attract kind of romance, but is a recipe for a story that is both fun and comfortable. No grand adventure here, but an adorable and clean five star romance with a side helping of cuddly pug.
“I can’t shake the sinking feeling that it’ll be impossible for me to escape her disturbing quirkiness and annoying optimism.”
This grumpy/sunshine is full of sweet whipped cream moments and I was here for every one of them. Pink-haired Lola is a marine archaeologist leading her first research team and employs Perry and his boat to take them to the site each day, along with his cute dog. The way Perry and his boat resemble one another thrilled me–weathered, jaded, more-than-meets-the-eye, and the little black pirate flag with tattered edges? The icing on the cake.
This author writes such a smooth and entertaining story full of the banter I love with the opposite personalities, yet melds them together in sparkling chemistry so well. While there are even moments where walls slightly crumble, there are many turbulent moments that crack that hardness wide open, unleashing beautiful, heartfelt emotions. But I must say, the bat scene is at the top of my list of favorites.
It’s been a fun summer in Willow Cove and the Coastal Kisses series is a favorite.

I absolutely love these characters! For one I love a great grump and Perry is the perfect grump. He holds those he loves close and has a hard time connecting with others. Lola is exactly as you would think. She is a pink haired pixie (as Perry calls her). Her look honestly reminds me of Lola in Hannah Montana (IYKYK). I feel like her personality is perfect because not only does she balance Perry out but I feel like she gets him out of his shell more. She doesn’t accept what others think of him and had to dig deep to truly see who he is in his heart. I can’t get over the description of Bertie in this story. I love the description of Bertie and her rolls. It truly made me feel like I was cuddling up to that lovable pup.
This is a dual pov, clean romance. It is part of a multi author series but can be read as a stand alone novel.
Such a fun story involving grumpy/sunshine, family dynamics, and heartbreak. Lola, a marine archeologist investigating a shipwreck, hires Perry to captain her back and forth to the shipwreck. At first, Perry isn't enthused when Lola enters and upends his life. On top of that, she rents the villa belonging to him and his sister and becomes friends with his sister. Such a cute read.
Perry + Lola = the perfect Grump/Sunshine combo! Dulcie is a pro at writing the grumpiest grumps who have the soft, sweet centers that only certain FMC’s can bring out. And Perry just might be one of my fav grumps ever!
I loved this opposites attract novella that shown two people who couldn’t be more different, but along the way brought out the best in each other. The growth of Perry and Lola was amazing to watch and the chemistry and tension that built with these two was 🔥🔥!!
Once Perry fell, boy he fell hard! Perry was just amazing and I loved how he loved Lola fiercely and so completely. Lola was a bubbly, pink haired pixie that I loved from the very beginning! I loved her spunky personality and how she wasn’t afraid to be herself.
Overall, I couldn’t put this one down! It’s a fast read with all the sizzling chemistry and lovable characters from the sweet town of Willow Cove that I will miss so much!
What to love: 💗Grumpiest MMC 💗Sunshine FMC 💗Bertie 💗Aloe Vera rub down 💗The bat scene 💗Boat driving lessons 💗Homemade soup 💗Movie night 💗THAT FIRST KISS!!! 💗Whipped cream😏

Lola is a marine archeologist temporarily sent to the small town of Willow Cove to head up a shipwreck investigation. Partnering with Perry, the town grump and only local fisherman, she and her crew begin gathering information to see if a larger investigation is necessary. After a few weeks, Lola begins settling into a comfortable routine with the town and locals. Unfortunately, she and Perry’s opposite personalities cause them to continuously bump heads. Will the pair be able to set aside their differences or will their constant disagreements interfere with each of their professional aspirations?
Ship Fate by Dulcie Dameron is the fifth book in the Coastal Kisses Series. This is a multi-author series that is interconnected through the small town of Willow Cove. Each book is written as a standalone, and therefore can be read along with the rest of the books or enjoyed on its own.
This book served as my introduction to Dulcie Dameron’s writing. For years I have seen and heard rave reviews for this indie author. So much so that I had to check her out.
In all honesty I was a bit skeptical. A story centering around a marine archeologist and fisherman has no business being entertained to me. However, Dulcie’s writing is so good she managed to hook me from the very beginning. Once she had me on the line, I was a goner. I was so invested I couldn’t help but flip page after page, until I was out of story.
Dameron showcased her excellent character development through Lola and Perry. It is safe to say that these two were polar opposites. Lola, ever the optimist, viewed the world and situations in a positive light. Perry on the other hand allowed heartbreak to leave him jaded. His default demeanor was grumpy and kept others at distance. Despite beginning the story at odds, their whip smart banter quickly turned flirty. With their walls lowered, a beautiful friendship emerged allowing a romantic relationship to flourish.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Ship Fate. So much so that I cannot wait to read the rest of Dameron’s backlist!!! If you are a fan of good writing and excellent character development I highly recommend giving this book a read.
Special thanks to Dulcie Dameron for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perry Ford & Lola Brighton - Dual POV - Grump & Sunshine - Forced proximity - Found family / friends - Small Coastal Town - Meddling Sister & Friends - Nicknames
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book 5 of Sweet Coastal Kisses Series - this was such a fun read for me, as I’ve never read a book or known much about marine archaeology. The MC’s personalities, jobs, and community made this such a fun lightt-hearted read I couldn’t put down.
This book is full of laughs and crazy situations that left me dying laughing (blood sucking bats what can you do 😂)and gave me some major second hand embarrassment (stupid bats 😅🫠😂). Perry and Lola’s verbal sparring is next level. They are both extremely witty and quick. Once they stopped warring with one another, they had such fun, flirty banter that was very entertaining and kept me on my toes.
I really enjoyed all the small ways that Perry showed up for Lola. He showed he cared and wanted to be around her by bringing her food and checking on her. 🥹Their love is so sweet and they are both honest as much as possible with how they feel. There is very little guessing. I so enjoyed the refreshing honesty and straightforwardness of both MCs.
All the side characters add to the story and I hope some of them get their own stories! Their community made this story even sweeter. 💕
This was a clean, closed door romcom with passionate kissing and some innuendo.
**Thank you so much to Dulcie for letting me read this ARC. I received a complimentary copy. No positive review was required. All thoughts are my own.**

Grumpy/Sunshine is one of those tropes I have learned to really love over the last year! At first, I was hesitant to see how it could work, but now I know how fun and ridiculous it can be… here for it (also helps that it’s the bestie’s go to)!
Perry is the ultimate definition of a grump; he’s jaded by life and has no intention of changing for anything or anyone! The rare exception to this rule for this fishing boat captain is a 3-legged pug named Bertie! When Perry gets commissioned to be the water taxi driver for maritime archeologists, he rolls his eyes but agrees because he has ideas for the money!
Lola is a pink-haired, perky, fun, and easy-going adventurer, who refuses to let Perry rain on her parade! She finally gets to explore a shipwreck that has been calling to her for the last few years! While exploring the wreckage, she notices a bottle with a note that begs her to open! Curiosity didn’t kill the cat but it sucked the wind out of her sails when not everyone shared in the excitement of the discovery!
Despite some choppy water, mutual stubbornness, and slight lack of understanding these two can bridge the gap to become more than what they were at the beginning! I love that there is more depth to each of these characters and that they allow themselves to be honest internally as well as externally! Jerica, Perry’s sister, plays a huge part in this story as she brings clarity to character confusion and love that only a true friend/sibling can provide, even if it isn’t necessarily wanted! Dulcie did a beautiful job of rounding out the ‘Sweet Coastal Kisses’ summer multi-author series! These boys of summer will not be soon forgotten and perhaps- just maybe Perry is towards the top of that list!
Ship Fate is the fifth book in the Sweet Coastal Kisses series. This is an interconnected multi-author series all set in the town of Willow Cove. While familiar characters make appearances, these can all be enjoyed as standalones or in any order.
I loved taking about trip back to Willow Cove for Perry and Lola's story. I always love a good grump and Perry absolutely fit that title well... but not without his reason. He certainly was not expecting Lola to burst into his life... or onto his boat as the case may be. She was the perfect sunshine to balance him out and I absolutely adored their chemistry. They might not have hit it off right away, but it didn't take long for that to change. Their story had me laughing out loud in some moments and swooning the next. He didn't let people in very easily, and when we learn more about why, it made me root for him all that much more. When he did start to let his walls down and we see his flirty side come out? So, so good. And those kisses? Even better! Of course, a trip to Willow Cove would absolutely not be complete without some Prince Harry shenanigans (he truly is the STAR of this series) mixed in there too! This was a fun summer read and one that I adored.
Ship Fate is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
This is the fifth and final book in the Sweet Coastal Kisses series and I can throughly say I enjoyed my summer at Willow Cove! I have enjoyed each of these books for diffrent reasons but the way Dulcie Dameron ended the series was just perfection and felt like a fitting end. I know I will come back and visit Willow Cove every summer.
In Ship Fate Lola and Perry were giving Luke and Lorelai vibes! I absolutely Love their banter! He is the grumpy recluse kinda like Luke Danes and she is bubbly and quirky kinda Like Lorelai! It helps the fact that Perry is a fisherman and he keeps feeding Lola through out the book. Also Perry literally hired a troubadour for their dates! There were just so many moments I loved in this book!
This was the first book I have read from Dulcie Dameron and I absolutely loved her writing!! The banter between the main characters had me swooning and cracking up! I just loved the pug Bertie in this book also! The best part is a lil cameo by another lovable animal in this series at the end up to its usual shenanigans! Also adored seeing some of characters from the previous books make cameos in this one also! I can’t wait to re-read these next summer!! I’m definitely gonna be reading all the books she puts out from now on!!
🐶🛥️Disclaimer🛥️🐶 I did receive a ARC e-book copy from Dulcie Dameron but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone
– this is told from Lola & Perry’s points of view
– it is mentioned that a character’s father has cheated & that the character has multiple half-siblings due to that
Review:
I loved getting to know Perry & Lola! I loved that though they didn’t click right away, Perry’s sister & his dog seemed to love Lola on site, causing Perry a bit of a headache. I loved that we didn’t receive a reason right away as to why Perry was so closed off with Lola & her crew but got some hints before the big reveal. I loved the interactions Perry & Lola had as neighbors and how it led to some feelings escaping both characters’ holds. I loved that Lola was enthusiastic about the chance she was given by getting to lead the diving expedition. She was adorable with it and made almost everyone around her excited about it!
I am so excited that Dulcie announced Perry’s sister is getting a story & I hope we’ll get to see more of the two of them there!
Summary:
Lola is enthusiastic that she’s finally gotten the chance to prove herself to be capable of leading a dive, even if her new boss is causing issues at every turn. Thankfully, Lola knows his ways and calls ahead to the only available local ship that could take her crew to the shipwreck they’ll be inspecting. If only the fisherman was as enthused as herself. Perry is the only person Lola has met that hasn’t become her friend soon after meeting her, but she’ll do everything she can to chip away at his grumpy exterior in hopes that they’ll get to that point by the end of it…
Perry closed himself off after his heartbreak. Now he just does what he can to get by and helps the locals thrive. When a pink haired woman comes expecting him to ferry her team to the local shipwreck, Perry wants to refuse but in the end doesn’t. He thinks that he’ll only have to deal with Lola when taking her and her team out on the water, but soon realizes that he’ll be seeing her a lot more. Because she’s also the person who rented out the house nearby his and no matter what Perry does, he can’t seem to avoid seeing her. And he’s not sure he does want to avoid her the longer he gets to know her…
This is the 5th and final book in the Sweet Coastal Kisses series. Thank you @dulciedameron for the #gifted arc.
Lola’s dreams are finally coming true. She is a marine archeologist leading her own research team. Perry, the grump, is the man she hires to take them to the work site each day. Lola and Perry are total opposites and absolutely do not get along.
Dulcie does such a great job writing sweet romances and this is one of them. There is just something about the grumpy sunshine trope and Perry was the perfect grump. Lola was the ray of sunshine he wasn’t sure he ever was going to find. She fit so perfectly into his life especially when she found a best friend in Perry’s sister Jerica.
I loved being able to go back to this sweet little coastal town and really enjoyed each time there was mention of past main characters in this series.

This was such a fun summer read! I really enjoyed Perry and Lola and visiting Willow Cove again. The small beachy town vibes were perfection and I loved the pirate vibes too!
The grumpy/sunshine was done so well and Perry was such a great grump with a in-depth reason. He was an onion to be peeled open and I love seeing all his layers. He had this adorable hidden sweet side. Lola was so fun and understanding while also someone who pushed Perry to open up. They had some hilarious moments and funny things they got themselves into. I giggled a lot at their antics. But I also loved that they felt safe with each other. They had a great, romantic relationship and I loved his protective side. I also loved how confident Lola was even with the hardships she faced.
I'm loving this fun summer series and am looking forward to reading the last two I have to read. Y'all need to visit Willow Cove!
4.5⭐️ ARC Review: I have been wanting to read one of Dulcie's books for forever, and I finally got the opportunity. I love her writing! It was captivating and had me hooked from the very first page, which is hard to do. And for reals, I could not put this book down. I read it in one day. One day!
Perry and Lola were absolutely adorable. The grumpy x sunshine trope is climbing up the ranks on my fave tropes list. It made their banter so much more fun, and that tension between them sizzling.
This storyline was also different than most of the books I have read, so it was just refreshing. This book had me clinging to the last moments of summer and I loved every minute.
*Thank you to the author, Dulcie Dameron, for the complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"Of course she’s here. Because to have her out of sight and out of mind is just too big of an ask, apparently." — Perry Ford 🤍
"Being protective of my sister is one thing, but Lola isn’t related to me, or even a friend. Still, I can’t let her get tangled up with the likes of Weston Gilly." — Perry Ford 🤍
"I remind myself to accept the friendship I’m offered and stop wishing for everyone’s approval. If Perry doesn’t like me, fine. I don’t need him to." — Lola Brighton 🤍
"Not only is she all too present during my waking hours, but she haunts my dreams when I’m asleep too. It seems no matter what I do, I can’t get away from Lola’s bright presence." — Perry Ford 🤍
"...when I lift my head, she’s already halfway down the dock. And I’m left with a pit in my stomach that tells me I care way more about Lola Brighton than I have any right to." — Perry Ford 🤍
"But actually seeing the spark of attraction in her eyes did something inside me. I want her to look at me like that again. And again. I want her to forget about how rude and off-putting I can be." — Perry Ford 🤍
"The tears from earlier collect on my lower lashes once again. But this time, I don’t let them fall. And I won’t let my heart fall either." — Lola Brighton 🤍
“I’m so glad you’re here, you feel perfect in my arms. In fact— I think you should stay right here forever.” — Perry Ford 🤍
“You came in and wrecked things, Lola. In the best way. You wrecked my summer plans, my false sense of peace, even my hard exterior. You broke through everything to get to the me underneath. And I’ve never been so happy to be found before.” — Perry Ford 🤍
“It’s just a boat, Lola. It doesn’t live and breathe. It doesn’t want what’s best for me or encourage me to do things that are out of my comfort zone. It doesn’t make me a better man just by existing. And it definitely doesn’t burst into my home at night in nothing but a nightshirt.” — Perry Ford 🤍
“If you think I’m saying that I’m falling for you and am willing to do whatever it takes to be with you, then yes. That’s what I’m saying. Lola, I know it’s too soon to use words like love, but…I also know that if we had more time, I could love you…the way you deserve to be loved. And maybe I’m way out in left field here, but I think you could love me too.” — Perry Ford 🤍
"You already own everything anyway, Lola. My heart, my body, my soul. It's all yours and has been ever since the first day I saw you." — Perry Ford 🤍
Perry and Lola are such a sweet couple. I loved them both pretty much immediately. Lola is a literal sunshine and doesn’t let much impact her optimism and kind nature. Okay, she definitely has a snarky side too, but it never seems spiteful but just to get a reaction with actually the goal to befriend everyone - including Perry who is a hard nut to crack.
Perry is the epitome of a grump, but it’s obvious that there lies a big softie underneath all the rudeness. I mean he has a pug, the most ridiculous dog ever. Okay don’t hate me. I just always have to laugh at pugs, but Bertie was actually a real cutie and it probably didn’t hurt that it was mutual love at first sight between Lola and Perry’s dog.
Lola and Perry were just perfect together. The banter, their chemistry and that their romantic relationship was sort of based on friendship. At least it seemed to me that after Perry gave up being so antagonistic they quickly formed a friendship that even more quickly morphed into more.
And when he finally opened up, he opened up completely. Swoon! And even though there was an obstacle to their relationship, there was no unnecessary drama.
I also loved Perry’s sister Jerica and how his whole family situation was portrayed. We see very flawed people (mostly his father and step mom), but they still don’t seem like villains. We see some little progress in Perry’s relationship with them, but it’s not an unrealistic all-is-miraculously-good-and-forgotten sort of ending. And can we get Jerica’s story, please? I loved how protective she was of Perry but still supportive when he decided to pursue Lola, honest, funny, kind and despite her concerns a really good friend to Lola.
Ship fate is the perfect summer rom com with the sweetest grumpy sunshine pairing and lovely (side) characters. Absolutely loved it!
* Thank you to the author for letting me read an advanced copy of this book. I leave this review voluntarily and the expressed opinions are my own.
🐠”I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but I think somewhere deep inside, I wanted someone like you to find me. To see me and bring me back to life…You came in and wrecked things, Lola. In the best way. You wrecked my summer plans, my false sense of peace, even my hard exterior. You broke through everything to get to the me un-derneath. And I’ve never been so happy to be found before.”
⚓️ Lola is your bubbly ray of sunshine-pink hair and space buns included. She’s a marine archaeologist visiting the sweet small coastal town of Willow Cove to dig up artifacts from a ship wreck that happened many years ago.
🚤 Perry is the grumpiest of grumps. The only affection he shows anyone is his pug, Bertie, and even then, he speaks in mostly one word answers and grunts. The last thing he wants to deal with is a bubbly female commandeering his boat for a month, but the money from the job could be his ticket to a hidden dream.
🪸This was my first @dulciedameron book and it was such a cute, fast paced read! Not going to lie—the first half of the book I wanted to strangle Perry. He is the epitome of a grump who is unwilling to budge, but by 50% in, he WAS the book for me. I just wanted to jump in the pages, wrap him in a hug, and be his buddy. His vulnerability on the first kiss scene (which doesn’t happen til like 75% through 🥵) was EVERYTHING.
🐚 A few things about this book I guarantee you will love: -Grumpy x Sunshine -The Bungalow -All things Bertie -The bat scene -The storm at sea -He brings her food -Movie night
🌊 Ship Fate is out now on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited—it’s a cute, quick read that meets all the closed door/clean romance criteria and will leave your heart so happy!
*Note: It does show that this is book 5 in a Coastal Kisses series but it can absolutely be read as a standalone!
~A quirky marine archeologist and a grumpy jaded fisherman are forced to spend the summer together. Or drown trying...
This is the fifth book in the delightful Costal Kisses Series. Ship Fate, can easily be read as a stand alone but, the charming town and some other characters from the series make some fun appearances, so I would recommend you read all 5 awesome stories! 😉📚💯
“I don’t just think you are pretty. I think you’re beautiful. Inside and out.”
Ship Fate is a sweet enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/ sunshine romantic comedy set in the charming small town of Willow Cove. It’s story where the leading lady Lola, be a quirky marine archeologist, who is leading an exploration of a shipwreck near Willow Cove. The rocky waters continues as she and her team hire grumpy Perry to be their water taxi to the dive site each day. Her sweet happy personality balances Perry out of his layered shelled self. I loved seeing how Lola didn’t accept what others think of him and that she has to dig deep to truly uncover who Perry is in his heart. Seeing their relationship blossom and grow through this quick but delightful read was lovely! Get ready for kisses only, delightful banter, lots of tension, sizzling chemistry, and a crazy but fun batty situation! This story nicely completes this sweet series. All of which are worth the time to read, my book friends! 🙌🏻📚❤️
“Distance or change, doesn’t matter. Not if love is the driving force.”
The final book in the Sweet Coastal Kisses series is almost out! This one releases on Friday, 8/30. In Ship Fate, Lola, a quirky marine archeologist, is leading an exploration of a shipwreck near Willow Cove. She and her team hire Perry to be their water taxi to the dive site each day.
Perry is SO grumpy when we first meet him, and with good reason! He was burned so badly before and he has social anxiety. Lola is the epitome of sunshine: all optimism, bright colors and hope. Perry is resistant at first but it seems that Lola keeps popping up everywhere! And really, how can he avoid her and her infectious joy for long? (Spoiler alert: he can’t.)
I loved seeing Perry soften and open up. He and Lola balanced each other out so nicely! The side characters were really fun to get to know as well- especially Jerica.
Dulcie has become one of my favorite writers. You’ll want to read this for sure!

Perry Ford has no desire to be around people, especially the cheery, optimistic woman who has hired him to take her and her team out every day on his boat. If only he could stop thinking about her all the time...
Lola is excited about her new assignment investigating a shipwreck. Everything is going perfectly...except for the handsome, grumpy boat captain who doesn't want to have anything to do with her.
As Lola and Perry are forced to spend time together, they realize they have a connection that goes beyond their attraction for each other, but Perry has been hurt in the past and must take down his walls or there is no hope for a future together.
What you'll love: grumpy/sunshine forced proximity dual POV opposites attract slow burn the first date Bertie aloe vera boat ride swoony kisses the rescue that ending!
What is it about a grump that is so appealing in fiction, lol? Perry is one of the best and could only last so long with Lola's insistence and sunshine personality. I loved watching him slowly break down his walls while finally healing from past hurts - Lola was perfect for him!!
So many fun, laugh out loud moments (the nighttime rescue!) and swoony scenes (oh my gosh, that kiss!) and I loved all of the side characters too! I laughed and smiled my way through this one from first page to last and can't wait to read the rest of this series! 4.5 stars
I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
Ship Fate by Dulcie Dameron is out NOW, and oh wow. I didn’t put it down. It’s that perfect balance of mutual instant attraction while giving off that enemy to friends to more that I love. ALL the witty banter! Perry and Lola also give readers that beautiful “Luke and Lorelei” vibe in this hilarious, small-town, grumpy sunshine sweet love story.
Perry-I confess, in the first portion of the book, I wanted to strangle him. I kept wanting to reach into the pages of the book and ask him what on earth his problem was. Suddenly, I discovered his problem, and I just wanted to wrap him in a hug and tell him everything would be okay. Watching him overcome his pain and reach for the future he wanted-with who he wanted-had me cheering him on.
Lola-Sweet, bubbly Lola, who always tries to choose joy and hope, was such a delightful character. Even when she intentionally pushed on all of Perry’s buttons just to get a reaction, had me chuckling and shaking my head at her fun personality. But she wasn’t just bubbly; she had depth, grit, and a passionately defensive spirit that brought a big smile to my face.
Watching the two of them together, fighting for each other and working to overcome obstacles towards the happily ever after they didn’t see coming? Now, that was a journey worth going on. Grab your copy today!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
The last in the Coastal Kisses Series, Ship Fate is a summery romcom full of heart! I have really been enjoying this series and was so excited to return to Willow Cove. Lola was so fun! I loved her energy and optimism. She was determined to succeed and loved her job, yet at the same time was so vibrant. She was just as determined to build friendships as she was to do her job well. Even though she had been burned, she was still a romantic. Perry was so sweet. He was a softie wrapped up in a grumpy exterior. He had been hurt and was determined to protect himself, but was shaken up by Lola and her marine archeology evacuation. It was so lovely to watch him shed his layers and open himself up to new experiences and opportunities. He discovered more of himself. Lola and Perry supported one another and helped the other pursue their dreams. It was so sweet to see their romance progress. I also loved seeing all the side characters! Jerica was so fun and I loved the sibling relationship. Seeing old characters again was also fun, it is one of the best things about connecting series! This is a sweet romcom with only kissing and some innuendos.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
Thank you to Dulcie Dameron for this read. It was literally the best read for the end of summer.
Lola has such an outgoing and bubbly personality, unafraid to be uncomfortable. I love her character because she has such a great balance of when to be outgoing and when to dial down.
Perry is the ultimate definition of a grump. He has walls that are built up and strongly secured, making it very difficult for Lola to come into his life. But throughout the story, you see glimpses of his softer side and it is very sweet when he begins to admit he's falling for Lola. When we begin to see more of who he really is, you'll really cheer for them to be together.
There were so many moments that had me aww-ing because Perry and Lola have such a sweet friendship/relationship. The development of their relationship felt so natural and real. The side characters were also super fun to get to know. I always love a good small town romance because the people are always nosy and all up in your business, which in this case led to Perry's confidence.
Tropes: Grumpy x Sunshine Summer Read Small Town Low spice"
This is the second book I read from Dulcie and absolutely loved it!
Perry had me laughing so hard in the beginning of the story and was such a grump! 😆😭 His one liners were priceless. Lola was like a giant ray of sunshine and was determined to see past Perry’s tough exterior. I loved her personality. ☺️
I really enjoyed seeing how in due time, we see the shift in Perry’s personality and for good reasoning. You’ll understand why he was such a grump once you read. I honestly LOVED both versions of Perry. 💝
I also enjoyed Perry’s sister, Jerica. She really was sweet to Lola and I loved their friendship. However, she pulled no punches when it came to protecting her family, Perry’s feelings. Even though at times she didn’t stay in her lane, I can’t fault her for making sure her that Perry’s heart was protected.
Even though he wasn’t mentioned much, Stanley cracked me up! Always concerned if he was getting his full pay 😆 ( Again, you’ll see what I mean when you read. 🫢)
If you’re looking for a clean romance 💝 with a great banter and swoony moments, look no further!
Thank you, Dulcie for including me on your ARC team! You’re such an amazing author.
Dulci Dameron’s Ship Fate had me at the opening line with “Space buns.” It finds that happy medium between serious and funny in a Rom/Com.
Lola is a Marine Archeologist and has come to Willow Cove, South Carolina to explore a shipwreck. She is a full on sunshine character having fun with life, but she takes her work seriously.
Perry who runs a water taxi is a a complete grump. He’s been hurt, he’s guarded, and he likes things a certain way. Little Miss Sunshine shakes things up when she waltzes onto his boat all sweetness and life trying to love her way into his dog’s good graces.
Lola and Perry are constantly thrown together and she is determined to show him how to have sunshine in his life. Both characters are endearing and I was constantly hoping Lola would be successful. This is a slow burn which makes the explosion stronger and sweeter when they get together.
Ship Fate is a fun, quick read with kisses only. It’s part of the Coastal Kisses Series but I’ve not read the others and still thoroughly enjoyed it.
The flirty, the forced proximity moments and realizations. Ugh, such a good book.
This is a Sunshine meets grump trope. Like she really will not let anything break her sunshine, and he will do anything to make sure she never losses it even if it means losing his own heart to her.
The way they both wanted each other, you can definitely tell by how much their flirting lifted their chemistry off the pages. And then putting it all on pause because they both know what a bad heartbreak is like. It just built the tension!
This was a fun read. With awkward moments that made me so glad it has never happened to me. Blushing comments that had me swooning. And unpredictable moments that had me laughing to myself.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a light hearted read for the summer.
