Drawing upon the Spiritual Treasures of the Temple

Rate this book
Drawing upon the Spiritual Treasures of the Temple is a captivating exploration of our faith inspired by the visionary teachings of President Russell M. Nelson. As the prophet who has announced more temples than any other in this dispensation, President Nelson invites us to move beyond routine and to better understand the spiritual treasures received through temple ordinances.

In this insightful study, Stephen Fluckiger shares the incredible blessings he unearthed after accepting President Nelson's call, including the power to recognize and feel God's divine love, the life-changing influence of consistent temple worship, and the profound understanding of covenant-making central to God's perfect plan. Delve into the ministries and priesthood keys restored by Moses, Elias, and Elijah, and gain greater power to part the veil and receive divine guidance through prayer.

From the supernal blessings sealed upon us through the new and everlasting covenant of marriage to the ultimate power to become one with God, this book unveils the richness of temple ordinances. More than an exploration, it serves as a guide, revealing not just the promised treasures but how to harness their power. President Nelson promises that as we do so, our families will be more “united, sealed in the temple of the Lord, and full of love for our Heavenly Father and for Jesus Christ.”

My first memory of Stephen Fluckiger is that he loved the temple. As a missionary, in the constant cycle of baptisms, I remember a strong feeling of peace come over me when President Fluckiger helped shift my focus from bringing people into the church to preparing people for the temple. So, when I saw that he had written a book about the temple, I knew I had to read it. Although I will admit that when I first got the book and saw that there was an endnotes section to the introduction, I was a little overwhelmed. But throughout the book, I felt a strong spirit helping me to better understand the temple and its purpose. The book is organized to walk the reader through many of the experiences in the temple, from different ordinances to the purposes of the covenants made there. After reading this book, I have a renewed commitment to make temple worship a more regular part of my relationship with the Savior.

I also really loved the chapters about the life of Moses, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The only thing that I wished the book had more of were personal stories from Fluckiger's life. The book was very doctrine heavy and is full of rich sources and academic study, but I would have loved to see more of the personal aspect for the author. All in all though, I would recommend this book for anyone looking to further understand the temple, and seek to follow the prophet's counsel to gather Israel on both sides of the veil.

Steve Fluckiger’s incredible book, inspired by comments from President Russell M. Nelson, is filled with wisdom and insight that will uplift and inspire you. He shares valuable lessons from scriptures, prophets, scholars, and personal experiences to help us understand the spiritual treasures available in the Temple. Each treasure offers hope and power as we navigate our journey back to our Heavenly home. Brother Fluckiger highlights the importance of the "covenant path" and explains the significance of the Temple and Temple work with warmth and clarity. He also explores the ancient roots of the Temple, starting with our first parents. His words encourage us to prepare to make sacred covenants and to receive heavenly power and knowledge. He reminds us to seek an understanding of the rich symbols of the Temple and find the Savior in every part of Temple worship. Above all, he encourages us to let the sacred experience within the Temple influence our lives outside its walls. It's wonderful encouragement to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, to utilize His great atoning sacrifice and to receive the unmeasurable treasures that await us in the Temple.

Wow! I love this book! This is a deep dive into the practices and blessings of the temple without realizing it's a deep dive! The author somehow strikes the balance of going in depth into each part scripturally but also writing it in a way that it feels like an easy read. It flows well and filled me with the spirit. It's also a very timely book to read with how much temple attendance was a focus this last General Conference! Definitely recommend! I recieved an advance copy of Drawing Upon the Spiritual Treasures of the Temple but these opinions are my own.

I love how all the components of this book come together to paint such a picture of the blessings temples are in our spiritual journey to come to Christ. The author walks us through the promises given to Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, how these covenants and promises relate to temples and to those who make covenants with God nowadays. So much information & knowledge is imparted, that I will enjoy rereading it to see what new insights I might catch the second and third times through it. Cedar Fort Books provided me and arc e-book to read & review. All opinions expressed are my own

Temples are beautiful houses of peace and learning. I have attended many times enjoying the spirit there but not fully considering the blessings the temple offers. This book breaks down many of those blessings and explores them in a way that is easy to understand and follow. A wonderful book. I would recommend it to anyone attending the temple.

I received an ARC Advanced Reader Copy from the publisher however the opinions are my own.

This was a good book with many interesting and inspiring passages however I struggled to get through it, partly because of the pages and pages of sources which were also filled with interesting information. It just didn’t hold my attention. My favorite parts of the book were the chapter headings, quotes from President Nelson

I loved this book because it opened my eyes to the”treasures in the temple”. Exploring each “treasure” was a meaningful insight to temple ordinances we perform often without really preparing for the temple.
I received an advance copy and this is my own opinion .

My mission president! <3 This is a pretty dense look at different aspects of the temple, and you can go even more in depth if you read through his footnotes and cross references. I liked how he conveyed his learnings and applied them to basic gospel truths.

I took my time with this book because it is so full of insight I really did not want to miss anything. It is really an rfemarkable book, an pretty exhaustive analysis of the spritual treasures that we receive when we enter the Lord's house and hopefully do so frequently and with the spirit it deserves. As a temple worker, I found this book a very welcome companion as I strive to know and worship in the temple better.
But, what may be the best part are the copious end notes after every chapter that are really a book within a book. If you have desires to know the temple experience better and more fully, read this book.

This was a fantastic book about the covenants we make in the temple. As I was so engrossed in reading this, I was underlining the things that stood out to me & that I wanted to remember, but it was so interesting that I kept forgetting to stop and underline. Stephen did a great job showing how the covenants we make tie us with the Lord and are the most important thing we will do on this earth. We are here to receive these covenants and prove ourselves so that we can live with our Father in Heaven for eternity, and everything we do here is for that goal. This book has opened my eyes on the importance of frequent attendance in the temple.

There are some good messages. While I understand and know many of the lessons there were a few explanations that did help my better understand. For those preparing to go through the temple this is a great resource. I do like the scriptural references. Plus you should make sure to read Appendix 2. Even though that's a story we all know Stephen says it beautifully.
