This was a solid entry in this slasher book trilogy. The first book in this series, Camp Slaughter, is still one of the scariest books I’ve read. That prologue continues to live “rent free” in my head.

Unsurprisingly, this final entry was another bloody action driven slasher. The author is clearly a fan of slasher movies. I like how the author makes nods to the tropes without leaning too heavily into nostalgia for the movie genre. It’s not derivative but, rather, fresh and fun. It’s full of suspense with some gruesome moments. It has characters you will care enough about to worry about your fates.

If you enjoy slasher fiction, I definitely recommend this series but you’ll want to start back at the beginning.

Disclaimer I received a copy of this book from the author.

This one starts right where book 2 left us; Ignacio is hurt and needing to regain his strength. After escaping Ignacio, the sheriff has retired and determined to live out his retirement with his wife. And Noelle? Well, she's preparing for a war.

When I tell you I've been dying to read this book since reading the first two in this series two years ago, I am not exaggerating. As soon as a release date was announced, I had it marked in my calendar so I could get it as soon as I could.
This was the perfect ending for the trilogy. Plenty of gore, characters from the previous books, and coming full circle, back to where it all began in Camp Slaughter. I loved everything about this and yes, I cried a little.
Once again, Mr Gomez has smashed it out of the park.
If you loved Camp Slaughter and Halloween Slaughter, what are you waiting for? Get reading. If you haven't, and you're a horror fan, get to it.

MY BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE YEAR!!!!

What the actual fuck?!

No way was this written by the same author of the first 2. Camp Slaughter was decent and then Halloween Slaughter took it to a whole new level, but this…

THIS!!!!

This was a shitty ass book. Literally felt like a kid trying to write a horror book after reading a few goosebumps books.

Random ass characters being introduced took up 1/3 of this book for them to be killed. The writing was cheesy. The characters were stupid. Everything was corny. Sooooooo much potential after how good Halloween Slaughter was. If you were a fan of the first 2 books I’d suggest doing one of the following before reading this book:

1) Don’t read it - it will ruin the first 2 books

2) Read it - And leave a bad taste in your mouth for the trilogy.

Final Slaughter - the only thing this slaughtered was my impression of the trilogy as a whole.

Y'all, I am so sad to see this trilogy end. I love it so much. Thomas hewitt, AKA Leatherface, has a special place in my heart. So I immediately was drawn to Ignacio.

This is book 3 in the trilogy. Camp Slaughter, Halloween Slaughter and Final Slaughter. This book definitely wraps it up nicely.

This trilogy is about Ignacio. He is a cannibal who wears skin masks. He's been slaughtering for a long time and these books are full of kills and gore and blood. With this final installment, a band of survivors from the previous books have decided to go back into the woods to finally kill him. And oh is there blood.

If you love a good slasher, if you love Thomas Hewitt and if you love blood and gore then you will love these books. I cannot rave about them enough. It definitely made me cry and I was very emotional.

I cannot believe this is the Final Slaughter! 🥲

4.5 ⭐️ because I needed so skim over some gory parts. I’m getting soft 🤣

Final Slaughter is definitely the most emotional book in the series. This book in the trilogy mostly focuses on revenge and trying to heal from past trauma and brings back many past characters to team up together against Varias Caras.

Throughout the book, there are many points where I feel so bad for Ignacio. Sergio has a great way of making us feel for Ignacio despite being the villain in the story.

Noelle is such a badass! She really gives the others the motivation to fight back and I love that about her.

There is one part where I could not stop crying! It was a very emotional scene with many reunions that I was not prepared for 🥲

Per Sergio Gomez’s usual style, there is no shortage of carnage 😅

It’s nighttime, you’re in the deep dark woods, sitting in front of your camp fire. You and a couple of friends decided it would be a good idea to take a Halloween camping trip. So naturally, you summon up all of the spooky stories, or maybe even a local legend or two to freak out your friends.

You think hear the wind rustling, or maybe…it’s the sound of bone wind chimes hanging the in trees behind you…..

Sergio knows how to paint the opening scenes of his books so that they IMMEDIATELY grab your attention. He creates a deep sense of unease and dread that is quickly followed by gore.

Final Slaughter is the last instalment in this slasher trilogy. And I really enjoyed the ride.

This book as a whole moved at a slower pace than the previous two, and that isn’t a bad thing. We spend a lot of time with Ignacio. So much so that we ALMOST catch a glimpse of something inside of him that feels remorse. Especially when he’s being taken care of by a stranger in the woods. Alas, that’s rather short lived.

All things must come back to the beginning, Camp Slaughter.

And let me just say 👏🏼 ITS SO WORTH IT. 👏🏼

If you’re a fan of horror, and slasher films and you still haven’t read these…please pick them up. All of the tropes are so well done, while giving nods to the most well known movies.

He also included a frenchie named Rosie. And I’m not saying that it made me rate it higher, wait, yes I am. IYKYK.

And of course, we have our delusional character Tess. Tess my girl, did you really think you weren’t in danger?

A big thank you to Sergio for not only sending me an ARC, but for your patience with me getting to it.

A very fitting sendoff for Ignacio and his alter ego Varias Caras. Sergio Gomez does a terrific job of giving a nice combination of gore and story in the final book of the trilogy.

My husband and I finished this one a while ago, but I had a busy month teaching and then had a baby, so this review is a bit delayed. It was somewhat sad ending this trilogy because my husband and I really enjoyed it and in some ways Gomez creates pathos for Ignacio. It’s complicated and hard to explain, but it’s there and he finishes the book with a pretty ultimate finality.

The book picks up right after the second, with Ignacio being hurt and retreating to the woods where he meets an old woman who lost her son, ends up showing her the spirit realm where she can see her son again, then kills her. As a mom, that is a pretty emotional part for me: Would I choose to die if it meant I could see my son one last time? Hopefully, I’d never have to consider that, but it was a part that resonated with me.

Gomez takes the readers through some interesting explorations of parental dynamics as well as knowing oneself through Ignacio. In this book, he has the “mother figure” in the old woman for a brief time, and his father plays a role of helping him embrace the monster.

It takes a while for the pace to pick up with Noelle trying to organize everyone and it really annoyed me that Diana is missing and there really is never a rationale as to why. Honestly, this book felt far more like an homage to the first and didn’t want to deal with incorporating the second to a significant degree, which was disappointing.

Also, I get that it wouldn’t be a slasher book without people making dumb decisions, but the fact that they drove all day to get there at night was ridiculous. Obviously, he would have an advantage at night and they could have easily gotten hotels and gone there in the morning. While it definitely was dumb and set the scene for night massacre, if they had been plotting this, you’d think they’d have more sense (and also trained with weapons and not invited people who essentially wanted to watch them kill someone?! How did inviting urban legend fans and a girl who wanted to film everything make sense?!). Plus, when they get there, Mr. Olmos even puts on pajamas! My husband and I were also floored with how few weapons they had and how Mr. Olmos thought he would just casually drive the documentary girl out of the woods when she got scared.

But despite some disappointments, my husband and I both loved how Noelle tore apart Ignacio’s body and put his head on a stick. In typical slasher cannon, she would leave him and there would be opportunity for him to reappear, but she was smart in the end and made sure it wouldn’t happen. I also liked the ghosts of those she worked with, like Gavin reunited with his brother, coming to cheer her on at the end. I’m not sure the ending made up for all of our small disappointments, but my husband was especially excited to see someone who made the right choice and we enjoyed the trilogy.

I think I’d give this around 3.5 stars, but my husband said five because he loved the ending and it “wouldn’t be a slasher if people didn’t make dumb decisions,” so I tried to average our ratings.

I really enjoyed the first two books, so had been really looking forward to this read. Even more so that there were characters returning! And I did really enjoy the book, if was fun and as gory as I had hoped.
However the editing was off putting in places, or lacking even. Sentences with poor grammar or sequences that didn't make sense (one minute it's just a knife, the next it's a machete) and what I assume were typos ("had" instead of "hand" etc).
The story was also convoluted on places and at times, just confusing. Ignacio felt like a completely different character in this book, even before Varias Caras totally took over, which in my opinion was a mistake... Suddenly our monster had no depth or personality, he was just a bog standard slasher.
There was also just completely pointless characters - firstly the old woman in the woods whose story never fully fleshed out (I still don't understand why she randomly killed the campers when the only person she had killed before was her husband? The timeline on it also felt confusing) and secondly... Tess. Tess absolutely added nothing to this story and to top it off her death was just... Bland? Compared to the killings we usually see from Varias Caras!! Tess was poorly written in my opinion, a confusing character that added nothing to the story or other characters. It irked me that using discord was quirky somehow? The fact we never knew why she didn't use her real name? I assume it was just to add to the "paranoid weirdo" persona but it was something that could have been interesting about her but instead it came to nothing. Also... Yu-Gi-Oh? Really? Not magic the gathering or something more believable? A Yu-Gi-Oh deck???
Gavin's short chapter and death also really disappointed me, as I was actually pretty attached to him so felt robbed by "stab stab stab - dead". Although him being reunited with his brother brought a tear to my eye - you got me there.
My last issue is that it was pretty obvious VERY early in the book that Ignacio was going to die. The book picked a direction and did not dare sway from it. There were no twists, no wondering "oh what if" or any doubt it would be Noelle at the end (Tess was actually such a pointless character I wondered if at one point she was going to surprise us and kill him but... No).
Again I don't want to hate on the book too much, because I have really loved these books. It's just that I wish it had been more fleshed out for being the last book.

Just when I didn't think Mr. Gomez could go any harder with the gore or intensity, he proved me wrong. Thank you. This book is the final installment for the Slaughter series. And, I have to say, it does not disappoint. Following in the tradition of classic slasher movies, the few survivors return to get revenge on the deranged slashes who massacred their friends. However, unlike classic slasher movies, the group that ventures back to the cabin includes more than just the survivors. This one also includes a father of one of the victims, as well as some other colorful characters with their own endgames. As one can safely assume, the cannibal hasn't gone into hibernation or given up his depraved ways. Absolutely not. In fact, he's ramped up, taking as many victims as possible and as inhumanely as possible. It's almost as though something in him knows that this will be the end.
One of the great things about Sergio's writing is that he doesn't only rely on the gore and intensity of the kills to hold readers. The imagery he creates, even during the calmer parts when a character is having their moment, really says something. The way Ignacio helps Edith see her son (the last thing she'll ever see), and how Noelle is briefly reunited with her friends shows that he doesn't see the characters as simply that, but rather as people.
So how come I gave the book only 4 stars instead of 5? The truth is that while I really did enjoy the book, I do feel like there were parts that could have used a little more. The last scene with Ignacio, maybe he could have seen his parents one final time and seen that they were disappointed in his end, or maybe them welcoming him to the other side. Or maybe Varias Caras could have had one final line. Something to really wrap up his story. The ending by no means felt rushed. Vindication is the only appropriate word. But it came up a little short.
Aside from that, I did notice a few more grammar and spelling mistakes here and there. While they weren't enough to take me out of the story (I don't think anything could do that in this series), it was enough to notice it. Maybe the editor was so into the story they didn't care about the errors. I don't blame them.
I'm looking forward to seeing what else Sergio Gomez has written.

This was a really solid ending to a fantastically gruesome slasher trilogy!! This final instalment has been one of my most anticipated books of this year, and, overall, it didn't disappoint!

I loved the character development that this one provided, with more than just Ignacio, the formidable killer, returning for the finale! I love how this one continued straight on from the ending of book 2, Halloween Slaughter. If I'd have read them one straight after the other, I'm sure it would have been a seamless transition.

The gore remained as grisly and as shocking as it was in the first two books. The descriptions were just as vivid as the previous books in the series and had me wincing throughout. There are several kills in the first two books that will probably forever stay in my mind, and there are several kills in this book that will join those as being unforgettable. The gore hasn't lessened in the slightest!

The reason I have given this one half a star less than the other two books is because there was just something about this one that didn't deem it 5-star worthy for me. This is more because of the final part than the book as a whole. The first two books are extremely suspenseful! This one didn't have that element at the same level, in my opinion. It started off a lot stronger than it finished.

Part One was superb! I was on the edge of my seat; it felt a lot like book one. It was full of suspense. Part Two wasn't as intense, but because of the structure of the book and what this part was building up to, I didn't mind this. The whole book, the whole SERIES even, was leading up to Part Three of this final book. It was extremely gory and I really enjoyed it. However, it just wasn't very suspenseful, and it felt a little rushed in places.

Despite these criticisms, I still enjoyed this final book a lot!! It was such a great ending to this unforgettable trilogy. It maintained its slasher status for sure!!

My heart couldn't take it. This book had me all in my feelings.

First off, if you are going to read this trilogy do it all together. I read Camp Slaughter LAST Year and apparently dropped the ball on writing the review.

So, when the old characters from book one were introduced, I had to go back and skim through the first book. No worries though, my memory instantly came back to me, and I was good to go.
In book one Noelle is the love interest of one of the characters that the author made you fall in love with only to murder him in a very brutal and bloody manner.

In this final book, Noelle reaches out to the various survivors/families of victims of my beloved Iggy with the cracked out plan to go hunt him down and kill him in the name of vengeance.

She really thinks running a mile a day and going to the gun range is enough for her to go against Iggy. I rolled my eyes soo hard at the little team she put together knowing they didn't stand a chance.

Now my beloved Ignacio is in the woods. He ran back home after his confrontation with his ungrateful Barbies in the Halloween Slaughter. I was not prepared for El Monstro aka Varis Caras to overtake my boy. He takes advantage of Iggy's emotions and need to recover and manipulates him into giving him full control of their body.

While in the woods the fantasmas visit both Iggy and Varis Caras with warnings of a coming danger.
Now YES, I knew this was the final book. But I refused to believe that this band of misfits could take my boy down. I refused to believe there wouldn't be a final scene where his eye opens or a hand reaches out.

But NOOOOO Sergio meant what he said when he called this the final slaughter. It was bloody, funny, crazy, intense, and emotional for all.

I don't know if I'll be able to recover.

1. This is the final installment of the Slaughter Trio by Sergio Gomez. The first two in the trio are ‘Camp Slaughter’ and ‘Halloween Slaughter’. I personally think they can all technically be read as standalone books, there are definitely some elements that continue from the first book(s) that are better if you read all, in order.

2. Final Slaughter was the perfect way to wrap-up, what I feel, is the scariest book slasher villain. While this was definitely not Ignacio’s most brutal book, it does give us more of a glimpse into his psyche which is terrifying. You also learn that he has some limitations and that his environment plays a large role in why he can do what he can do. There is a bit more of a supernatural element in this installment and I found that enjoyable. I was glad to have a little more context as well. Not every question was answered, but it wouldn’t be fun if they were!

3. Man, this one was sad. There is a lot of death and brutality in each of the Slaughter books, however, this one hit a little harder for me because it’s returning characters that Gomez made us love in previous books. You want to cheer for them, but deep inside you know it’s pointless.

4. I love a slasher and I would say this series is one of my top 5 in the genre; not just because I find Ignacio to be so terrifying, but because I love the writing style and overall feel of this series. Sometimes it can be hard to make a slasher unique, which doesn’t typically bother me, but I found this series to be a bit different with some unique elements.

Definitely recommend the whole series!

While Gomez certainly surprised me with the second book in his franchise, the third and final entry sadly falls more in line with the first, delivering an unfocused adventure that takes far too long to get to the meat of its story.

The first half of the novel has very little to do with the plot Gomez sets up at the end of Halloween, forcing the reader to follow a handful of characters who mean nothing to the core throughline before finally bringing the narrative back to Noelle and company. The novel picks up in a major way the second she is introduced, and it's gnarly to follow several other returning characters alongside her.

Unfortunately, so much time is spent on the opening chapters that Gomez in effect must squeeze nearly everything important that occurs into less than twenty percent of the book. This gives very little time to the calm before the blink-and-you'll-miss-it storm, and it makes the action [and the deaths that encompass it] feel rushed.

He proved with Halloween Slaughter that he's grown as a writer and can deliver on the slasher front. Final Slaughter falls short of this, even if I'll still look forward to his next publication.

Wrapped up a very busy week by coming home and finishing this very frustrating book. Ugh! This is the third book in a trilogy that wraps up the story of murderous cannibal Ignacio/Varias Caras and the group of survivors from the two previous book who unite to end his reign of terror. The story is fine and fairly satisfying except for the fact that certain characters don't survive to the last page which bummed me out.

What drove me nuts is the fact that this book was not edited at all it seems. There are so many punctuation and spelling errors throughout the book that it becomes really distracting. There are also errors that should have been caught such as in a paragraph it says the driver pulled up and turned off the car lights, but then two paragraphs later, it has the same driver getting out of the car and turning off the lights. Sentences had words missing, as well. Where was the editor?!

All I could see were the errors while reading this book, which took me out of the story and lessened my enjoyment of the book. I wanted the trilogy to end on a high note. Sadly, that wasn't to be.

I wanted to love this. The second book is definitely the best of the 3. So much of this book could have been taken out and the story would not have changed. I didn’t need 4 chapters that were dream sequences, I didn’t need 2-3 chapters of side characters talking to one another about how the main characters wanted to meet them and just being like “ok give them my number.” Maybe others will like that, I just didn’t vibe with it.

I read the afterward and I understand not knowing everything in a story is sometimes nice, but the whole ghost, paranormal thing just doesn’t work here for me. “The forest was special” ok? Why? Why did this area let them see ghosts and make Ignacio stronger and faster and superhuman? The end of the book was the best part because that’s where all the action is.

Definitely give it a read to know how the story ends, I will be reading other books and short stories by this author. This one just wasn’t it for me.

Final Slaughter marks the chilling conclusion to this slasher trilogy, and what a ride it’s been. The story picks up right where book two left off and brings everything full circle, wrapping up the series in a way that feels both satisfying and haunting. This book stands apart from the others, since it starts off as more of a slow burn, but once it gets going, the tension and chaos hit hard.
I tore through it so quickly (well, as quickly as life would let me). It’s packed with gore, familiar faces I grew attached to, and some shocking kills that definitely hurt a little to read, but that’s what a good horror series does, right? The ending is open for interpretation, which I really loved for this book. I’m genuinely sad to see this series end. I’ve grown attached to these characters and the brutal, bloody world they live in. But what a great way to go out! If you’re a slasher fan, I highly recommend diving into this trilogy. It’s been such a fun, gory, emotional ride.

I needed a bit more. The 2nd entry is really good and I thought that was a building block to this potentially being great... but yeah, the book is 312 pages (on my phone) and the first 70 pages are kinda wasted on a subplot. The entire time I was just like "get to the reason we're here please."

When it takes off from there, with the characters coming together to hunt Varas down, the books good fun. Noelle is a badass, Sheriff Olmos is cool, Gavin is fine I guess... a few more people are placed in the story just to be slaughtered, which is fine. Varas is his usual destructive self and we get our raw action here.

I did think the final act/showdown was a little rushed, but it's a display of just how powerful Varas is... but yeah, we get an abrupt ending to a nice series.

Needed a proof reader

There were a lot of editing issues, like "he put his trigger on the finger" or us instead of bus, an a few sentences that made no sense.

The book itself was meh. I really enjoyed the first book, the second book was pretty good, this one felt rushed and thrown together and simply redundant.

On top of that, having 2 throw away characters made no sense and added nothing to the story. The magical maps that were never used, as nothing actually happens at the campgrounds, and nothing about the three heads. The paranormal aspect to it could have been interesting, but just didn’t do much for the book.

This could have been a good book. But it is like the author gave up before it was past the second chapter.

This book was fine but I do think it fell a little flat as being the trilogy’s finale. The series definitely peaked with Halloween slaughter. The ending felt anticlimactic and rushed, and the book overall was sort of lackluster. I also didn’t like that it felt like more characters were added very last minute and brought in just to have more to kill off.

Also, I will say there were a lot of typos, wrong words, and just things I feel were missed in editing. Which are a given in almost any book, don’t get me wrong, but the amount was very apparent in this book, even down to phrases like “the truck of his bed” instead of “the bed of his truck.”

Overall, I did enjoy the slaughter series and I look forward to reading more from Sergio Gomez.

The final Ignacio slasher story is the perfect classic ending. If you have ever watched a horror movie you love to hate and scream at the characters for doing typically dumb moves. When this book starts, you are emotionally hurting for the survivors of the cannibals multiple massacres. As you read through each chapter you want to cry knowing this group of survivors may not make it out alive.
Once the battle begins, you will start to throw the book as some of the survivors make decisions to go off alone into the woods, drop the weapons and manage to get themselves killed. Despite all of that, it is a must read and you can’t put it down until the very last second. I enjoyed this entire series and look forward to future books from this author.

Honestly, this is such a good slasher series, I loved every book! This one got 4 stars because I think that the beginning with the old woman and Ignacio getting better and taken care for him to kill him was not too significant and did not need that many chapters.
Also, I think that Noelle’s preparation, convincing the others, and the final fight should have been longer, and could use more anticipation. So overall, it just felt quite rushed. But still loved it! It’s definitely one of my favorite series, and as a slasher fan, Sergio Gomez really did something great here. If you love slasher genre, you’ll love this!
