In the fall of 1992, two Mississippi flatlanders sold their home and bought a small cabin and ranch nestled in the Bitterroot Mountain Range near Missoula, Montana. They knew nothing of what lay ahead. Two months after their arrival in Montana and two months before the snow started, the locals would meet them, and each would ask, "Have you wintered yet?" The harsh winters were the litmus test to which every newcomer was judged in the mountains of Montana. This book is comprised of the daily journal from their first winter, spanning stories of hunting, fishing, and sled dog races. The two Mississippians defied the odds of harsh winters and tough living and eeked out an existence in a cabin at the base of a mountain situated along the upper West Fork of Lolo Creek. This is their adventure.
