This is appealing because DJ can’t help adding a touch of make-believe to anything she writes and she herself is a woman of a ‘certain age’.
DJ plans to write more in The Mid Witch series and more books with older, strong-minded female main characters.
She is the author of a dark fantasy epic that runs to four books, and she also writes for children under the pen name Tiger Molly.
DJ is an artist and enjoys creating her own book covers and illustrations. She writes for magazines and hosts the Words and Pictures Podcast every Monday. Wish I could give more stars!
Oh my! This book, this series, is my new favorite ! I read a lot of books and normally only left a star rating but had to do more for this book. I thought I knew where this book was headed but was pleasantly surprised when i was wrong. DJ Bowman-Smith Thank you for writing a book for us ladies over 40, the good, bad and awful stuff ! The only thing I would change is the time between books.

Read in one sitting AGAIN, as I did with the first book in this trilogy about Lilith and her magical familiars.
Love, Love, LOVE these books by #djbowmansmith and looking forward to the third book of the series.

Perfect! I can’t wait for Mid Witch Three!
I’m a peri menopausal woman. Ms Bowman-Smith captures the essence of the feelings of menopause - the heartache, anger, frustration, embarrassment and especially the humour of this time of life, and weaves it into her story, making Lilith wholly relatable and enchanting.
This book develops Lilith’s search for answers about her family history, her magic and her romantic endeavours, whilst providing a frank, relatable and exceedingly humorous perspective of The Change.
The character development is delightful, and the insights into the ‘supporting cast’ that we receive along the way add colourful and intriguing vignettes to accompany the main story. I especially enjoyed Ink’s story - she has fast become my favourite girl (especially after the hysterical ‘handbag treasure’ incident in book one!)
Thank you for this beautifully crafted story; please tell me it won’t be long before book three!

The author has done it again! I was hesitant to read the second Midwitch book because I was worried it would not live up to the first in the series. I was wrong. Midwitch Two only gets better as we delve into Lilly’s crazy world at North Star Cottage. I read this book in twenty-four hours, which is an unusual feat for me, as is laughing out loud while reading.
In Midwitch Two, Lilly is trying to adjust to her newfound magical power and the responsibility it brings. The introduction of the mysterious ‘Coven’ adds an exciting and intriguing element to the narrative, with characters that read the line between trustworthiness and deceit. The author’s imagination is akin to J K Rowling's wizarding world with hidden libraries, magical books, spells, and hexes. I was captivated as though a spell had been cast on myself!
Lilly’s life continues to be chaotic, absurd, and, at times, hilariously funny. Perhaps I am the ideal target reader, but I could totally relate to her and the situations she found herself in. But beware, this is no children’s book, the sex scenes are raunchy, hot sweat inducing, and leaves one feeling flushed and breathless. Lilly’s love life continues to be disastrous until she gets together with ‘Grant’, whom I fell head over heels for! However, as with everything in her life, this is not plain sailing.
This book is expertly written, drawing you in and keeping you there until the very end. It is a warm, cosy, comfortable read that is highly entertaining and heart-warmingly funny. It is impossible not to fall in love with Lilly and her familiars, Ink, Maud and Claudia. If you love greyhounds, this is a must-read!

Last of the trilogy, this book shows how powerful Lilly has become, and yet, at the same time how she's still kind of a mess. Frustratingly she never has help, either financially or physically, from her children. Lilly cleans up their messes, laundry, and feeds them, molding her life around them and they basically use her and then leave. She is obviously struggling with very little income and her adult children offer zero assistance, even for their own upkeep. Lilly's ex is never taken to task or made to provide funds at the dissolution of their marriage. Mike is obviously wealthy enough to afford alimony; which Lilly richly deserves. Lilly has been a doormat for so long that she allows everyone to walk all over her; she's too nice. After reading this trilogy and liking her; it is sad that the author barely wraps up Lilly's story so quickly. Barry and the bad coven witches don't seem to be punished for their misdeeds and Lilly just falls into Grant's arms, again. That leaves one with a level of dissatisfaction, despite liking the books overall.

A fabulous second instalment! I’m loving seeing Lilly blossom into the amazing mid witch that she was destined to be.
Witchcraft aside it’s so bloody real! This is what midlife is like and it’s beautiful and ugly and hilarious and tragic all at once.
I can’t wait for part 3…I really hope that tattooed beautiful idiot manages to redeem himself

Wow
So disappointed I read this in a day and now have to wait for book 3.
I've been through every emotion in the last 24 hours from laughing to raging anger but Lily has been worth it and we won't mention Mr Richards and his cake
Highly recommend the Mid Witch books not just for women of a certain age 😊

Midwitch
I had nearly forgotten Lily until I began to read book 2. Book 1 was skillfully worked into this novel, I was reminded but also moving forward. Loved it and read it in one sitting...retired, I don't care that it's 1am.

Fabulous read. Even better than the 1st. Lilly is such a funny character, there are so many things throughout the book, that us mid-lifers can relate to. Her witchy powers are getting stronger, and her love interest in this book is gorgeous! Bring on number 3 DJ, this series is superb!

our heroine really begins to grow
I love the detailed and precise storytelling. The voice of the heroine is very real feeling. I love that she has begun to be in charge, and is even able to choose which lies to ignore. It’s beginning to feel like a complicated game of chess.

Fantastic
2nd book in this unfolding tale does not disappoint, I cannot say how much I am enjoying reading about Lilith and her magick as she becomes stronger and more confident trusting her instincts. Power to The Mid Witch !

Hard to put down!
This is An enjoyable read made me laugh. Well written. This book kept me interested and I didn't want to put it down. When the book ended I wanted it to go on.

Loved this! Couldn’t put this down and made me laugh out loud more than once. Some excellent lines in there for menopausal chuckles. Always love a witchy story and this didn’t disappoint.

The idea is original, I’ll give it that, but the lead annoys me with her actions.
