The Trigger Man is back with an amazing thriller with quite a few plot twists, a great cast of characters, and the usual bad guys. A lot of adventure in multiple countries and a whole lot of suspense/action. Thanks to Aiden Bailey, Inkubator Books, and NetGalley for the ARC of this novel and I totally recommend this book. Pretty sure there will be a continuation to this thrilling series.
Deep Cover is the second book about Mark Pierce by Aiden Bailey. It all starts with a few months of trouble for the trigger Man and then it takes of with a wild chase to proove that he is not a terrorist. The book is mainly set in Africa but it also covers other countries and it is as the last one a well written thriller with a brand new hero that is to my liking. I haven't tried anything else from this author but I am sure it is good as well. I really can recommend this relatively new series if you like action and suspense. I must thank Inkubator Books and Netgalley for supplying me with this advance copy.
Deep Cover by Aiden Bailey is a spectacular sequel to a badass action series by Aiden Bailey. In this one Mark Pierce is being tortured for his personal details and he is named a conspirator in nuclear waste theft. His escape & prevention of the conspiracy forms a highly action oriented thriller.Grand fight scenes, memorable villains & unique plotline are the major highlights. You should not miss this one.
“Life is a struggle, Doctor, and the world order is always trying to pull you down.”
A very engaging story with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Kept me enthralled to the final chapter. “The CIA wants him dead, but his enemies aren’t so generous.” I absolutely loved this book! A high-octane thriller so full of action that I lost some sleep. But oh, it was so worth it. Plot and character are masterfully woven together. A fast-paced and atmospheric tale, with heart-pounding tension, emotional and psychological depth, this accomplished second installment blends together both literary and suspense, page turning thrills!
Character driven, survival instincts always on display, it’s an engrossing storyline, full of rollercoaster of emotions. A raw and edgy narrative that kept me on my toes, pulling at my hair till the end.
A high quality and stylish writing and immersive world building. Beautifully crafted, with wonderful descriptions of mysterious Africa, lush rainforests, heavenly creatures, lovely landscapes..But with it, gritty and cruel scenes of the other Africa, a sad and heartbreaking view of impoverished countries, famine, political instability, cruel warlords on the lookout for themselves, weak economies, corrupt governments, a reality so easy to ignore in our western society. A dangerous world of global espionage, with an absolutely breathtaking action.
An unpredictable ending left me wanting for more. I couldn’t believe I had read the book so fast, I was so enthralled with the story! I highly recommend this entertaining series to anyone that enjoys gritty action/adventure stories.
“There are too many people with money and power in this world, whose only aim is to gain more money and power at the expense of others. Often at the cost of the lives of people without money or power.”
I had to stop and catch my breath after finishing this. What a ride! Mark Pierce is back but we begin with him after being abducted, in a car in Kazakhstan with his abductors. There is also a woman in the boot of the car.
Following events from the last book, Walsh is still after Pierce and has spread lies portraying him as a terrorist with access to nuclear weapons. At the same time, Pierce is out to bring Walsh down once and for all. The cat and mouse game is really well done. I never knew who to trust and the non-stop action had me riveted throughout. Geographically, the main activities happen in Africa, mainly in the Central African Republic, and I found the portrayal of life there and child soldiers horrific and sadly very real. If you are looking for a truly hectic series, then this is for you. We're only two books in and I'm already waiting in anticipation for the next one. The ending in this has certainly wet my appetite.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Pierce on the run makes for a fantastic sequel to The Trigger Man
Betrayed and branded as the world’s most dangerous terrorist, Mark Pierce is on the run. Hunted by the authorities as well as the people who set him up, Pierce is backed into a corner with nowhere left to turn. But as his enemies will soon learn, there is nothing more dangerous than a trapped Trigger Man…
Aiden Bailey already proved with his series-starter THE TRIGGER MAN that he is a fantastic storyteller. With the sequel. he makes it perfectly clear that he will become a household name in the thriller genre for years to come.
The story is fast-paced, action packed and highly original. Bailey has a knack for memorable characters and unpredictable twists. I can’t wait for the next one!
I really love and admire his compassion for the innocent. HE is an incredible operative and incredibly talented fighter! I cannot put his books down! I always grab the next book as fast as possible.
This book was amazing! I am in love with Mark Pierce’s character, he is such an articulated character that is very warm hearted. I love the portrayal of his character being so giving while also being badass. I am absolutely obsessed with this book, it has the perfect amount of suspense and plot twists that keeps you on the edge of your seat and wanting to read more. This book deserves 5/5 stars to me!
I received an ARC through "Booksprout" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with Mark Pierce (Trigger Man) captured and be tortured by unknowns looking for information. Mark was framed by his boss and through use of mercenaries was able to capture him. Mark's boss, Walsh, had a plan to come into a lot of money and place the blame on Mark even though Mark had been held for seven months. Time finally came where Mark was being transported to a location where he would be killed as proof of an attack on a CIA team. Mark was able to free himself and dispose of his captors. Mark discovered that the vehicle that he was transported in had another passenger tied up in the trunk. Mark freed her and the two escaped together.
Mark then learned about Walsh's plan and made arrangements to stop him. His plan involved him returning to the location where he was held as a prisoner. As he began his mission, he discovered later that the person he had helped who was in the trunk, Rachel, was a CIA agent. He met up with her and still had concerns whether she was going to help or was she told to kill him. Mark was captured and returned to the camp and once more was being interrogated, but this time he was able to break free and at the same time someone else began an assault on the camp. The assault was successful, but two of the people Mark was hunting were not at the scene.
Mark and Rachel recuperated before they were going to do the next mission.
To discover what the next mission was, what each of them were supposed to do, how things worked out in the end as well as discover who Mackenzie was, then you need to read this book.
Hey Guys Hope you’ll doing well and good. So last week I finished the upcoming Trigger Man novel called Deep Cover by Aiden Bailey. Also thanks for sending me the ARC I had a blast while reading this novel.
So for the people who yet to read this series Mark Pierce is an mysterious guy with questionable past who was working as a deniable asset to CIA tasked with recovering a group of hostages and 11 million dollars from West Africa based militants. But after so many twists and turns he escapes from there with skin of his teeth. This novel starts with Pierce being tortured in West Africa by the same people who plotted in downfall in Africa now trying to get as much as personal details from him by means of torture. At the same time nuclear waste is getting robbed from several countries and Pierce was named as the conspirator. Whether Pierce escape from them and prevent a big nuclear disaster forms the rest of story.
As I said the whole novel goes from one country to another in mind blowing pace intercepted with bombard action scenes and unique plotline that involves surprising Villian characters who stops at nothing to achieve their end goal. The important thing I really enjoyed in this novel was a new female counterpart who is as deadly as Pierce himself and the way she outsmarts him was delight to read. If you’re a fan of Mark Greaney, Chris Ryan this series would be perfect choice for you. Once again Thanks Aiden for the ARC
Wow, this is one entertaining read that just doesn't let up! Whilst this is the second book featuring Mark Pierce I'd say it can be read on its own, although I'll definitely be looking to read the first book, The Trigger Man, when I can.
The story certainly hits the ground running with a great start that drew me in immediately. Pierce has been held and tortured and manages to escape his captors. What follows is a huge manhunt to find and kill him. I think the author has created a character I'm not going to forget easily - Mark Pierce is a lethal combatant who can hold his own and I was rooting for him throughout. Who can he trust though, and is everyone as they seem? This read has everything I like - great writing, a good plot line, plenty of action and thrills and an ending that sets up the next book nicely.
If you like books with a spy/espionage theme I'd recommend this. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I don't think you'll be disappointed.
This is the second book in a series and it is a step up from the first in terms of writing and characters.
If you like espionage thrillers and action books you might like this.
In theory this book should be a 4 star read for me but it was just lacking *something* and I don't know what it was hence me rating it 3.5 stars. A lot of my favourite books make you feel like you are in the action alongside the main characters and this doesn't make you feel this way. This doesn't make this a bad book by any means. It is just not a book where I can wholeheartedly give 4 stars to it.
It is well written and there is decent character development, especially from the first book. I just wanted something different from it than what I got.
Thanks to NetGalley, Inkubator Books and Aiden Bailey for the advanced copy of this book.
Brilliant, I loved it!! This is one of those stories that absolutely consumed me, and I loved every page of it. Besides having a great plot, it’s the characters that really make this such a good read. Mark Pierce is one of those tough men you don’t want to be on the wrong side of, a smart but deadly operator. He’s unfortunately being framed for something he didn’t do, and it’s going to take every ounce of this experience to get him out of this deadly situation, but he’s one man you don’t want coming after you. I think one of the standouts for me with Aiden Bailey’s writing is the way he can grab your attention straight away. This is a standout series and I thoroughly recommend it. 5/5 Star Rating.
First read Trigger Man book 1, my first introduction to Aiden Bailey's work, the writing style captivates reader from the start descriptive character and fast paced plot location and scenarios resulted in addictive reading read this and book 2 Deep Cover in 2 days one of the best books of this genre I have read in a long time. The books can be read out of sequence but I highly recommend reading them in order to give the books a better flow.I haven't given any of the plot away as some reviews spoil the first time readers enjoyment I have joined Aiden Bailey's email list and look forward to reading more of his impressive material
5-STARS. Deep Cover by Aiden Bailey is a clever, well-crafted novel that reminded me of a combination: Marc Greaney, Jack Carr, Daniel Silva, and Brad Thor. The story progresses very quickly as the setting changes from Central African Republic, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, England, and other South African nations with numerous plot twists and betrayals. Mark Pierce tries to outwit his CIA nemesis, Idrus Walsh, who is trying to implicate Mark in a nuclear weapon scheme.
What I liked about this story is the way it flows smoothly from one scene to another seamlessly, and the smart actions and discussions taken by various characters throughout the novel.
The Trigger Man is back. The story begins in Kazakhstan, where Mark Pierce escapes a bunch of mercenaries tasked to kill him. In the trunk of the car he finds a Russian woman, who also had been abducted by the same people, or so it seems. Later we learn that he was held prisoner by a warlord on Central Africa for 7 months and finally was supposed to getting killed in Kazahkstan. And then begins an action packed ride with quite a few surprises until a final showdown with Walsh on a ship. Another amazing read in this series and I'm looking forward to the next one.
Mark Pierce has been in hell since our last meeting. Hidden away and tortured for months on end by the sleazy CIA honcho Walsh. He finally stores up enough strength and makes his break for freedom but now he has a potential civilian to try and get to safety as well.
Mark sets off into another globe trotting adventure from Africa to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and South Africa amongst other places. He has some former allies to help out along the way and even some unwilling help. It was great to see Summerfield back, even in a limited way. Mark even manages to flip another CIA operative into helping him pull the wool over the CIA's eyes.
The storylines within Africa were especially heart-breaking with a visceral depiction of the child soldiers and horrific work practices by unscrupulous diamond conglomerates. The story definitely takes you by the scruff of the next and doesn't let go.
I really enjoyed reading Deep Cover especially because it covers a part of the world I seldom read about, the heart of Africa. Deep Cover exposes the trying life of those who work undercover doing what is believed the greater good and the difficulties they face. It also tells us about how is life for children soldiers and for those who still believe in magic and the power it may hold on one's life. The story has a great plot, it's well-written and fast-paced. Highly recommended!.

This book is almost unreadable. I finished it only so I could leave a review and warn other people not to start it. Whomever wrote this book has ZERO experience with firearms, tactics, combat sports, or anything else related to writing an action thriller. He actually writes that a Scar 17 has an assault weapon mode and sniper mode, and it changes with the flip of a switch. The protagonist suffers from a non existent psychological condition and the whole thing is JUST BAD.
Just when my fingernails were recovering from the tension of the first Trigger Man novel, along comes Deep Cover to give them another belting. Another action-packed thriller, this second, hyper-realistic novel sees Mark Pierce as both hunter and hunted in lesser-known war zones and hostile locations. Bailey's sparse writing style and an eye for accurate, telling details brings the action convincingly to life and creates compelling impressions of locations and events too often ignored or over-looked.
The book opens with a man Mark Pierce looking back at his captivity and who would have been the person to have set him up. While that is happening he notices that the men driving the car are not paying attention to him so he overtakes them all and makes his escape along with another captive in the trunk. The rest of the story is full of action and working at who he can and cannot trust including the person he rescued from the trunk. A good story with some twists and trunks along with plenty of action.
I have read many thrillers. My favorite has always been the Gray Man series. I hesitate to put anything in the same category as the Gray Man, but this series is worthy of that. This book was incredible in every way, brilliantly plotted and with incredible action. It also featured complex characters with their own motivations and agendas, like any good spy novel would. The combination of action and plot in this book simply can't be beat, and I highly recommend this book.
Now I am all in with this series following the completion of the second of the trigger man books! The first one was very good, but this story kept on folding and kept me guessing with plenty of action and believable characters with great storytelling, which kept my interest throughout! I only have one more gray man book to go, and it is very, very difficult to find other authors on par, however, this one is definitely close and a great read 😎
WOW! After I read the first book in the series, I was hooked. This second book was even better! Mark Pierce is once again fighting for his life, and those innocents he meets along the way. His problem is he never knows who he can truly trust. Fast paced, action filled storyline that had me reading through the night. I cannot wait for the next book. A must read! I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Mark Pierce is the Trigger Man. Pierce has been held and tortured and manages to escape his captors. Before the escapes he discovers a nuclear canister. When he does escape he finds a girl in the boot of his captures car. What follows is a huge manhunt to find and kill him. Pierce is a lethal combatant who can he trust though, and is everyone as they seem?
A great spy thriller.

Mark Pierce is clever at disguising himself when he's trying to stop the destruction and chaos that wolves in sheep clothing are trying to achieve. What draws me in is the constant action and how most times Pierce barely escapes a bad situation that has you on the edge waiting for the other shoe to drop. I really enjoy the tense and unexpected situations that Pierce finds himself in it's thrilling.
This story was a fast moving action packed roller coaster ride that didn’t slow down. Triggerman is back with a vengeance to get to the heart of the conspiracy that’s had him tortured for months. Cast as a rogue agent now with no one to trust he must count on himself and a few unexpected friends for help. Couldn’t put it down. Just as great as the first book. Can’t wait for next one!
This was a great book to read and follow as each of the characters play out what they needed to accomplish. The main character in this book is The Trigger Man and characters from the CIA. This takes in the whole world of spies and intrigue for each country that is involved to make its way to make the world safer. The story takes place and a small poverty-stricken country in Africa.
Mark Pierce is a CIA paramilitary operator who is underestimated too many times. When he is driven out into the desert by four professional killers who think they are going to take Mark out then they have a rude awakening. Pierce must fight against all odds to get out of the desert and solve the conspiracy of who wants him dead this time.
This is a roller coaster of a read. I have not read the first book in the series, and this can easily be read as a standalone. I loved the fast paced side to the book, it's very well written and constructed. There are lots of twists and turns in the plot, but I wasn't lost in the story either. Great character building. Very difficult to put down, I loved it.
