Love has always been on the backburner so that my restaurant Savor could shine. But one handsome Martin brother walks in and changes all of that.
Amaya
I’m one viral video away from success. One twerking TikTok away from saving the restaurant that no one around me knows is slowly going under. I can't let anything distract me from my goal, but when Draymond Martin steps into my restaurant and challenges me on something as foundational as sugar versus salt on my grits, my focus starts to shift. Developing feelings for Draymond isn’t on the menu, but there’s nothing like love served up hot and fresh.
Draymond
Who would have thought I’d find my new favorite restaurant and my new favorite person on social media? When a video of her twerking and cooking comes across my feed, I’m drawn into her infectious passion. When I meet her in person, I’m hooked and determined to show her that a life outside of the kitchen is just as worthy.
I would definitely say this was love from scratch. They learned one another from food tastings. I really liked how they met, because in real like people meet on line and tik tok. There are some moments in this book Amaya was upsetting my nerves 😬 but I know it was only for the drama 🎭 of the book. Example: when her sister outed her, she rather shrink than speak 🗣️ up. And the way she pushed Drummond away cause her restaurant wasn’t making it 😮💨 I mean, I get it but ummm no. Other than that, it was a great read and I’m ready for book 3️⃣
3.5 this was a cute book and I enjoyed the love story. I wish it had the banter the 1st book had. I think that’s what was missing for me but def a cute read.
What Usher say? U got it bad? Yeah 🙂↕️Draymond Draymond Draymond. That boy was not playing with finding his sunbeam. From the first video he saw of Amaya she caught his attention with swiftness. Was excited to read about the other Martin brothers after reading Love under Contract which focused on Dru's love interest. Now his younger twin brothers each getting their own story I was excited to read about because I really liked Dru's story overall.
Getting to see Draymond’s story was enjoyable. He fell for Amaya so hard but was also so respectful. The way he wined and dined her on their first date (as any billionaire should). I mean on a yacht and all? How can you top that. The chemistry and electricity the two shared was high! Legit they couldn’t deny the strong feelings even if they tried. I loved how supportive and attentive Draymond was to Amaya and her business. Savor was her baby and the restaurant she grew to the success it was today.
Even though her sister Tracee was annoying at times she and Derrin (Amaya’s sous chef) were right about her pushing away her love interests by burying herself into work 24/7. Draymond changed all of that when he stepped into her life. She became more relaxed, more bubbly, she found herself again in a light and fluffy way. The things Draymond did for Amaya I assumed as a billionaire he did for all. But we quickly see the side of him that’s always showing out for Amaya actually isn’t his typical self. Which further showed that Amaya had Draymond also becoming someone new and it was exciting to see.
The way Draymond cared for Amaya, he loved every part of her inside and out. He literally even saved her at one point. There were so many quotes that I highlighted but all showing another layer of what these two shared. While I of course loved them both the main star of the book was Derrin 🤣🤣 every time he made an appearance I was cracking up. Reminded me of the first book with Charisse and her best friends Porsha and Lily. I also love the connection that Derrin and Draymond formed. Derrin being her right hand man and great friend understood Amaya needed to give more to herself and Draymond was just the man for the job. I loved seeing more about the Martins’ sibling dynamic. We saw it somewhat in the first book about Dru, but you really see how much having a sibling and a twin means to you when you have a healthy relationship with one another. I definitely can relate as I love my sister like no other. That’s my other half 🥹
“But having or not having money doesn’t determine your worth. Your worth is inherent in you for being alive.” Because Draymond never let Amaya belittle herself and told her she belongs in these same spaces as another other big shot. I loved how he really just wanted to support her as she was already an amazing person.
To see how Draymond was infatuated with all aspects of Amaya’s being, and took note of what she said to ensure he made it all a reality was a sight to see. From her perfect day, to him taking her out on said perfect day, to renting out six flags and the hotels! Like he really wanted to give her the world. Even more the amount of work he did for the community was so beautiful. You could tell her poured his heart and soul into all his projects.
Overall I couldn’t get enough of this book. It was very digestible and easy to read. I also loved the title drop and the ending seemed very fitting. I do wish I got to see even more into the future but I hope to see them make an appearance in Drummond’s book 🤭
Summary: Love has always been on the backburner for Amaya as she made her restaurant, Savor, the baby of her life. However, she is afraid that without enough business, her restaurant will have to close until a Martin brother sees her TikTok video. Will he save her business? Will she find love?
722AF2C7-E4DB-4824-AD11-FEFECB7F4FB5 Tropes: sacrifice, love comes when you least expect it, live life to the fullest.
Themes: faith over fear, trust and have faith, money issues, entrepreneurship, confidence.
Character: Derrin was my favorite character in the book. I loved the positive energy he brought to the book. He knew how to be a good friend and assistant to Amaya and always supporting her in opening her heart to the unexpected and even love. He never let Amaya degrade herself and confirmed for her everything her sister had been attempting to convey about her life, which his way was way more receptive than her sisters. No to mention, Derrin was always super funny.
Thoughts: I am just going to leave you with this quote to describe how much I loved this book. “He pulls me close and wraps his arms tighter around my waist. His proximity to me makes me shiver. His beard brushes against my cheek, and his lips brushed against my neck causing me to gasp. I pull away feeling too many things…..he clears his throat and runs his hands down his face, trying to regain his composure. Absolutely your turn, he says with a grin that’s equal parts.” This book was most definitely a five star.
Amaya has only ever cared about making her restaurant (Savor) successful. but she is having trouble keeping up with it. is Savor going to have to shut down and Amaya going to fee like a failure? She decides that she’s not gonna give up so she keeps making captivating tiktok videos is hopes of getting the attention of a popular food critic (Kel Lake). if Kel reviews her restaurant and puts her on the ‘Hot Spot’ list, she’ll be SET. so that’s her main focus. but fate puts her viral tiktok video on the FYP of Draymond.
Draymond is a charming, good looking and rich (but humble) man. he decides to pop up at Savor where he orders one of Amaya’s viral dishes. he fell in love with the food then and since then has been intrigued by the owner and head chef.
they get to know each other and fall in love. the dates Draymond takes Amaya to is nothing short of awesome! the kind of dates i want to go on fr. i enjoyed the book! great writing, detailed story. amazing!
I read the first book in this series and wasted no time getting this one. I can't say I was disappointed. This was an enjoyable love story with plenty of funny moments throughout (always a plus with me). The way Draymond was willing to do whatever he could to help Amaya was endearing and swoon-worthy.
I will say though, that despite my enjoyment and giving this four stars, the editing wasn't great. There were more than a few noticeable errors, so hopefully that's something that improves in future books, because I do enjoy this author's writing.
This was a really good read. Amat is the owner of a restaurant and has let it become her life and had no time for love.when she comes in contact with one of the Martin brothers she can’t help but fall for him. He broke her down and loved her in a way that she needed to be loved. It was really a cute story, this whole series has been good. There was love, laughter and seriousness along with romance. Enjoy!
I absolutely loved this book. I loved the way he cared for her. It was amazing to see a man just genuinely love a woman without anything in return but her heart. He truly won her over not because of his money but because he did things from his heart to show her he really wanted her. Seriously, this is how all relationships should be. I absolutely loved this!!! At the end, I just was so in love when he….no spoilers lol. Just go read the book!
This is a beautiful love story of another Martin brother. I loved the way Draymond and Amaya met. It is a cute but fast paced story. I thought it strange that,it was an entire year before she was introduced to his mother and also he asking for marriage and no mention of him meeting her parents. Good one like the previous one. Next up Drummond…..
Amaya was working her dream. However, dreams can be interrupted when things don’t flow as expected. Enter Draymond who sees Amaya in the midst of her striving and feels the push to make a difference. She had him with the food but her grit made him bring more of himself. Their story personifies how the right support can speak to love in so many ways.
I thought book 1 was good, but this one was even better! I fell in love with Draymond and how great he treated Amaya. Can't wait for Drummond's story! I love the Martin Brothers!
This book was cute from the beginning to end. I like the fact that Amaya found a way to balance work and her relationship. I really enjoyed the dates and the relationship between the characters.
Love this so much, this book had such a cute plot and was truly heartwarming ❤️ I love that the main female character was a hard working badass in her own right as well! Truly a great read
A fun and easy read. Seeing the different dynamics in sibling relationships due to upbringing was a nice addition that added a layer or complexity to the characters . the ending was comforting and a reminder its okay to start over and change your mind.
I think Draymond is my favorite out of him and Dru. He was so thoughtful and caring that it won me over. Oh goodness what Id give to taste some of Amaya’s food cause it sounded so good. Draymond was a man of solutions and i love that about him. And baby the spice was just right! I loved this book.
I love this series! Draymond and Amaya are great together, although there are some hiccups along the way. This is another page turner with some laugh out loud moments.
This book was sexy AF!!!! That massage scene still has me gasping. The chemistry between Amaya and Draymond was literally everything and legit had me salivating at the mouth. My goodness can Nina write a romance that makes you actually feel everything.
If you read book 1 and thought Dru was book boyfriend material…baby!!!!! Draymond has him beat x10 and that’s saying ALOT!!! Draymond went above and beyond for his Sunbeam and I loved every ounce of it. 🥰
The romance in this book outshines any other flaw of this book! Highly recommend and can’t wait to read Drummond’s (Draymond’s twin brother) story with his crazy self. Lol.
I met Nina in a fb group where she was promoting her book Love, Under Contract. I read it and fell in love. Of course life happened and I took a step back from reading. After reading Love, From Scratch, I had the same feeling from part one. By the end of the book I was crying tears of joy. I’m excited to read the rest of the series
In Love, From Scratch, readers learn more about Draymond, who's mentioned only a few times in Love, Under Contract (book 1 of the Martin Brothers Series), and his love interest, Amaya. The characters are fully developed in this dual POV romance story about work-life balance; having the strength and wisdom to pivot; and learning to accept love. Draymond is caring, communicative, creative, and rich af -- everything you want in a man. Amaya is smart and unrelenting, a very relatable FMC for me...probably the first FMC I could really relate to. I felt so full at the end of Love, From Scratch because the ending was perfect. I am so excited for book 3 in the series.
I really enjoyed Nina High's book Love, Under Contract. The book wasn't perfect but the story was engaging enough that I was eager to read book 2, Love, From Scratch. Nina High did even better with Book 2 of the Martin Brothers Series. If you're looking for a feel good romance story with the perfect MMC and an engaging storyline, I highly recommend Love, From Scratch - it is the perfect summer read.

When I tell you this man is the definition of "when a man finds a good thing in a woman he won't let it go"... boy This story follows Draymond and Amaya. I thought the first brother was good this Martin brother is a 10/10... this love story is one for the books. This billionaire daddy does it right!!
