Holy crap 😳

Awwwww man why leave it like that. I feel like I've been waiting for this book to be released for EVERRRRRR and still waiting because of that ending.
We were all waiting to see what this darkness that is inside Sage would become and even thought I was sure it wasn't anything bad, I was on the edge of my seat begging her to either let it come out or TELL SOMEONE.

Information is key guys and yes in books we need things to play out in certain ways for the story to flow but to not even share it with her loves or best mates????

I'm wondering if we are going to get another set join them full time with Maria and her guys. We know Sage can make her a centre and she needs more warriors, plus Cain said they were good people so I hope Nikita goes this way.

Also I was really sad for Sage when she realised that she lost her family (because they are in fact not hers).
Do we get to infact find out Nyx is her bio Mum and hopefully Cain her Dad???
She can't just be Nyx's champion and the help she unknowingly had throughout her horrible life? I want her to have a loving Mother and Fathers and we know at least these 2 do love her. But I have this feeling that the creep is her Dad.

Some of what she was reading in the book about him, it says he wants to get in the middle of the God's and manipulate anyone. He could have pretended to be one of Nyx's men and thats how Sage was made? It would also be a good reason for her Mum to send her away to be safe but then she got kidnapped from the loving home they thought they were sending her??

Please don't make us wait so long for the next book.
I do love this series so much but didn't think we got much in it till the last couple of pages.
That said, I could and will re read it again before we get the next book released.

I love Cain so let's make it so he is or at least one of her Dad's or at least an Uncle 😊

There's just something that keeps dragging me back

Spoilers in review:
All in all this book is pretty awful compared to other work in the genre and by the author. I think I just keep hoping that everything will improve and the first three were simply practice for a novice writer. In an afterword it is mentioned that the author wants to present this as like a serial tv show. Trust me, no cw series was this poorly written. First there are the ever present spelling, punctuation and grammar errors. Then, the total lack of any character development. I keep getting all the male characters confused. There are lots of them and they all blur together. This volume sets the characters in the demon Academy which has moved to the fae realm. Inexplicably all of the teachers have been infected with a spell making them ignore all the centres and partially ignore their bonds. Our heroes spend most of their time making hot cocoa and discussing what they cannot do. The evil God, Kronos, has left a spelled artifact and they spend the whole book looking for it, only to not know what to do with it when it's found. Meanwhile, Sage has a brewing darkness in her which she never bothers to ask the Goddess or her friends about. I mean to me it's pretty obvious what Sage really is. The last page gives the tantalizing information making us all want another dose. This entire series is based on some good tropes, magic, lost child finds then loses family, special fated bonds with 5 hot guys, academy, goddess intervention, power hungry, evil meanie and survival when everyone is against you. However, the dialogue is drab and uncomfortable, there is never any consummation of bonds, and the action is like watching paint dry. I would hope the author doesn't continue attempting to produce screen plays while calling them novels. It's just not working.

slow characters

I’m going to try reviewing again with some double speak. The book is frustrating. The characters are slow as molasses. The plot goes in fits and starts. “We shouldn’t split up, I have goddess level intuition” and 2 paragraphs later “we have to split up even though I don’t like it”. “I know this book is really important” *loses it off page for the rest of the book*. “I shouldn’t ignore this change” *proceeds to ignore it*. These characters are supposed to be in the 20s and some are supposed to be seasoned agents? They are dense as rocks and the book reads like an 8 year old is trying to fill pages. “We should do this.” “Great idea actually!” “Wait, what if this happens” “oh, I didn’t think of that.” “But we have to do it anyway.” “Yea, I think you’re right” “but actually, that really important thing should happen tomorrow. I can’t deal with it right now.” “Yea okay!” “But an ally is missing?” “ I’m sure he’s fine even though we can’t find him anywhere!” “Let’s sleep and deal with this very pressing thing later after we did nothing all day sitting in an empty classroom!” “Absolutely, great idea!” “We all agree.” That is the actual dialogue style and it’s driving me batty.

I’ve never read a more pointless book

I was hooked on this series from the first book and devoured every single one. I waited on pins and needles for the most recent installment… only to be given this nonsense.

Absolutely nothing happens in this book!! There is no plot progression until the last page. They didn’t complete their ONE and ONLY objective for this book. There was literally one thing they had to do in this entire installment, and they couldn’t even do that.

The main characters sat around their rooms for this entire book and complained about how unhappy they were at this new Academy. They complained that the teachers were under some magical control. They complained that they couldn’t leave or fight the Order any other way until they freed the school/teachers…but made no moves to rectify the situation until the end. They sat around for this entire book and were miserable.

There was literally zero storyline development until the last pages, no further character development, and no further relationship development. The main characters act like platonic friends, not bonded mates; there is zero spice.

I can't even tell you how pointless this book was—a complete waste of my time.

Good

WARNING: Cliffhanger! This one is a 5/5, but fortunately didn’t end quite as badly as I feared it would! Still, it’s a big one.

Sage and her friends are all at one of the academies that are supposed to train the centres and their bondmates, but that isn’t what is happening. Instead there are strange goings on, and the magic seems to be going awry…

This book was far better edited than the rest in the series so far, which means fewer misplaced punctuation marks! Just a note for the grammar police out there.
We also get very little advancement on the relationships, but we do get to meet a few new characters, some of whom are rather intriguing.
There are some pretty epic happenings in this book, and the cliffhanger is the type that leaves you wondering “what next?”.
I’m hoping the next book is out soon, because despite its flaws, this series is an engaging one, with an engrossing storyline and a fascinating cast of characters.

Disappointing

I loved the first three books in this series despite the bad editing, but this one drug far too long, nothing was really resolved unlike in the other books where at least one problem was solved, and they figured the same things out over and over, ***spoiler*** for example, earlier in the book they hypothesized that at least one teacher probably wasn’t under control then they figured it out again later in the book, and they all seemed suddenly much less skilled or aware of things. It was weird, drawn out to the point it felt like filler, and too slow. I’m not going to give up on the series necessarily, but this one is a dud that could have been written in a much shorter section of a better overall book with at least a resolution of one of the issues. It was in a word… boring, and the editing was terrible.

A great book to the series!

I absolutely love where this book and series has taken me! I love Sage and her men. Erin and her men and the new comers to the group on Sages mission for Nyx. They all have personalities that make them each distinctive. Each holding magic that enhances the group for their mission to come. I loved how Cain was more present and we are learning more of him and I can't wait to see where his role will help take them all. There is tension, sadness, fears, moments of laughter, lighthearted moments, mystery, evil, a whole school uneasy, magic and so much more. It ends with a cliffhanger that has you wishing there were 10 more chapters! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wordy

I enjoy a book that has great dialogue, internal or external and a good story as much as the next person. I also enjoy when the plot is moved along by developments or plot . However, I found this book infuriating, because it had endless discussion and scenes of discussion. I also didn't like how the main characters, (and the reader as well) were kept in the dark-endlessly. I have read a lot of Nickita Parmenter's books and some I really enjoyed, but not this one, I read it to see if it got better, but it didn' t.

As with the other books in this series, the story was entertaining enough to keep reading, but these books need some serious copy editing. There are inconsistencies across the books or areas that were left open-ended in a previous book and never addressed in the next book. Also, areas in the books where sentences were just repeating right next to each other and other clear areas that need editing - i.e. run on sentences, terrible punctuation. Etc. Even at one point as a character "Marie" was introduced in one chapter, and literally became "Maria" in the next chapter...

This book was extremely boring, literally nothing happened. There was only one fight scene and it wasn’t even a fight, it lasted three seconds and took up maybe four sentences. It was just Sage complaining about not being able to do anything and her being afraid of her magic. She doesn’t use her magic at all in this book, except when training, but that’s only mentioned, never really described. Also, in the last book it’s said that she has five gifts, so far she’s only used her fire and general magic, at this point I can’t even remember her other four gifts.

loved this

This series is so very much exciting. I love Sage and her kickbutt attitude. I’m loving the group dynamic and how they all work together to solve each new dilemma that they find themselves in. I’m looking forward to the next books. I love Nikita and the wonderful work she does. She has this way of pulling you in till to don’t realize you finished the book. Thank you for letting me escape life into your books.

Endings are full of shock and awe

Nikita Parmenter is an exceptionally gifted writer without a doubt…. I still wanna throat punch her! She leaves you gripping the edge of your seat and you then have to wait for the next book. Thankfully I have yet to read a sequel and not believe that the wait was worth it. Wonderful characters that are significantly multidimensional and story lines that are unique and interesting.

Not a finished series

There were A TON of grammatical errors throughout the entire 4 books. A lot of frustrating things like when they need to hurry, it's life or death, and they're chit chatting. Kind of a cool story overall but as the ending is a huge cliff hanger with no mention of a fifth book, I've basically just wasted my time. It was hard enough overlooking the lack of editing and to find out it was for nothing is very frustrating.

incomplete series

Too many reviews commented on the ending and book 4 being the last. It is not. The books were okay - a lot of time feels wasted and there’s not a lot of character development.

If the next book was out, I’d read it. But I don’t know that I’ll care by the time it does since it doesn’t even have a tentative release date at this point. Bummer.

Sorry this one didn’t do it for me. What all even happened in this book? They stuck around the school, learned Cain is actually a supernatural and combat teacher who teaches them all secretly, the teachers are being controlled by an object and Cain is for sure one of Nyx’s guys which I think means he’s also Sage’s dad. But beyond that? Not much happened… left it on an interesting note but I had to stop myself from speed reading at points.

The storyline is there, trapped in between all of the repetitive dialog and inner monologue. I'm not sure what's up with the writing in the last few releases, but it would be nice if the other style came back, especially the one that edits. I'll continue the series because it seems like it's going to connect to Black Onyx.

Nooooo! I wasn't ready for the book to be over. That was an awful cliffhanger! The book hangover from this will be horrific but so worth it. I tried to stretch this out and take my time with this book but I got so absorbed in the story that I couldn't stop reading. I can't wait to get the next book and continue on with Sage and her merry little army.

great book

It kept my attention to the end. It did give me anxiety, it seemed like every time she turned around. Something was going to happen that they didnt need or want. The order took over the academy and it was worse than if they were at the Earth academy. The difference was that it was outed that centres had rescued. I need to know what happens next!

I’ve read all the books so far in this series and I really enjoyed the story and the characters. My only problem is with the editing. I would have given the series a definite 4.5 stars but the typos and punctuation really threw off my enjoyment of the story. And I’m not talking about the British spelling or grammar. It definitely needs a re-edit. It is a good story and kept me entertained.

Honestly I was abit disappointed in this book I feel like the author just kept repeating herself in certain chapters that it was starting to sound the same , I loved the plot and the character developments but I feel like there’s so much in answered that could of been answered in this but I really am invested and I really wanna know what sage is and who her bio parents are

WOW, WOW, WOW!

So much info in this book in the series! Nikita Parmenter has out done herself with this book! I had a feeling that book 4 in this series wasn’t going to wrap up this series, but it was so exciting. I’m anxious to read what comes up next for Sage, her guys as well as Erin and her guys! Thank you Nikita for writing this series!

MISS MAMM!?

Look I understand your like the queen of cliff hangers… but come ON! I really liked this one. Not that I don’t love all your books but this one stayed on point. Lots of angst and turmoil but it was manageable with everything that kept going on. I really hope the next one comes in soon!

so disappointed

Wasn’t even really a complete book, and I have never seen so many terrible run on sentences in my life. Was so looking forward to the next part of Sage and the guys’ story, but am so sad about how this book turned out.
