What happens when the jokes run out? When the funny isn’t so funny anymore? Jokes are what I hide behind. They’re the solace in my life. But even I tire of them. It’s been a year since I’ve been back to see my brothers, and I’m looking for the R&R I was promised. But the club’s new tenant has decided that rest and relaxation is the last thing I’m going to get. And the more time I spend with her—and the kid—I’m not seeing the downside of it like I thought I would.
MILLY—
Ollie is the only thing that matters. Nothing else, to include my life. I owe him that much after what he’s been through at his young age. I can do this, have been doing it on my own for years. But I’m exhausted of having to fight for our lives for every minute of every day. I refuse to give up, but I might kill for a full night’s sleep again. But I can’t sleep, because that’s usually when they come. And that’s when our dreams—or should I say nightmares—become our reality.
I don’t need help, but when a biker club, and a particular biker, forces themselves into our lives, I have little choice. I can play the part, keep up the lie, until it all comes crashing down. Only when the truth comes out will they see, just like my family, that the problem isn’t worth the fight. That the war that Ollie and I bring to their doorstep isn’t worth the price of admission into the club. Even if my heart, and my life, are on the line.
After traveling all over the world as a child, S.J. Rowe has found a home in the southwest with her husband. She continues to visit exotic destinations around the world with her best friends, and when she is home, she splits her time between watching baseball and singing in the car. To unwind, she finds herself enjoying a good cup of coffee while curled up watching Star Wars.
I enjoyed this next instalment of my new favourite MC series. Absolutely loved Bass but loved Milly even more!! She's such a badarse and the sacrifices she's made for Ollie made my heart sour.
Ollie and Millys story is utterly heartbreaking, and I'm so glad they had Bass.
Full of action, sass, secrets to be revealed in a future instalment, and a few serious steamy scenes. Can't wait for Caspers story next.
I will preface this review by stating I have read books 1-6 and CANNOT STOP!! I don’t generally go in on series longer than 3 books but once I read chains I had to go on. Think of your favorite tv series. Each episode, generally, is a part of the bigger story. The plot continues and other things happen along the way and at some point the plot is resolved and the series stops. This series is like that. From the first book there’s a main couple and that revolves around them and their issues, while a larger plot is playing out and teasing you in the background. It’s freaking amazing how the author has managed to keep the story fresh and interesting through so many books! Another thing I love, I was actually thinking about it a few days ago, I’ve never really read a book from the male characters position. Yes they typically have a pov in most stories, but the main story is centered on the fmc. And that’s fine but it’s also refreshing to start a book with the male character, what they are thinking, how they live and bam here’s a girl for you. 😆 not all of the books are like this but they do give a more in depth understanding of the male perspective.
My only real issue with the series is the excessive use of the word “ain’t”. So as you can probably tell from the title, this series is about a motorcycle club, and this one is located in Kansas. Relatively rural, as it should be for all the space they need for groups and noise of the bikes. I’m thinking the auto thinks all southern people are hocks with no education? Even the fmc are using the word entirely too much. And some times another word just doesn’t suit the situation and yes ain’t would be the proper term. But some times it doesn’t fit the conversation. And most of our guys are actually educated and intelligent, so I’m finding it hard to connect with the character and their communication skills. Most probably won’t really take issue with it but it kinda rubbed me wrong. Being from Texas I can honestly say the only time I’ve heard the term as an adult was from teenagers or to make a specific point.
At the end of the day I’m all in with this series and cannot wait for the final plot!! Starting book 6 now and it’s supposed to really set things off and provide information on who what and why… happy reading friends!

See how it will go I received an advance copy from hidden gems and I want to review
This book is an absolute must-read for fans of fast-paced, action-packed romance! It gets a full 5 stars from me. The story of Milly, her son Ollie, and Bass from the MC pulls you in right from the start and keeps you hooked until the very end. Milly’s fierce dedication to protecting Ollie is heart-wrenching and inspiring at the same time. She’s a strong, battle-worn single mom who has been fighting for her son’s safety for years, and it’s impossible not to root for her from the very first chapter.
Bass, returning from a year away and looking for some peace, quickly finds that Milly’s world is anything but peaceful. But despite the chaos, he’s drawn to her snark, her strength, and the protective shield she’s put up around Ollie. Their chemistry is undeniable, and watching their relationship unfold is equal parts heartwarming and exciting. The way Bass steps up to support her and Ollie, even though they come with their share of danger and drama, makes him a character you can’t help but love.
Ollie, Milly’s 9-year-old son, adds even more emotional depth to the story. He’s been through a lot for someone so young, and the nightmares he suffers from are truly heartbreaking. The bond between Milly and Ollie is beautifully written, and you can feel the weight of everything Milly has been carrying on her shoulders to keep her son safe.
The suspense in this book is perfectly balanced with the romance. The action scenes keep you on edge, and the looming danger makes you turn page after page, eager to see how it all unfolds. There’s never a dull moment, and the stakes are high, but the author does a fantastic job of weaving in moments of humor and tenderness that give you a break from the tension.
Bass and Milly’s journey together is full of emotional ups and downs, but the ending is incredibly satisfying. The MC backdrop adds a gritty, raw element to the story, but at its core, this book is about love, family, and finding safety in the people who stand by you when things get tough.
If you’re into romances with strong, protective heroes, fierce heroines, and plenty of action, this book will not disappoint. It’s a gripping read with great characters, intense chemistry, and a storyline that will keep you hooked from beginning to end. Definitely a standout in the series!

REVIEW: Bass is the sixth book in the Hounds of the Reaper MC series. Bass and Milly's journey to finding true love is one with a lot of death and destruction to the Hounds of the Reaper. Bass and Milly both have complicated pasts but they are perfect for each other since she's sassy while he's a jokester. The moment that Bass meets Milly at the clubhouse after being away from the club was interesting as even though he didn't know it he fell in love at first sight. It was such a heartbreaking moment when Milly finally tells the club the reason she's on the run with Ollie.
The moment that Milly was shot while trying to save Ollie had me gasping in shock because I couldn't believe that she might die having just found love with Bass. Though Milly is from a NY Mafia family while Bass is a MC member they fall in love against their better judgment. This novel had me on edge trying to figure out if Ivan will finally get Ollie or if the Hounds will be able to save Milly and Ollie by getting rid of Ivan once and for all. I hate cliffhangers in a series because it's a while until I finally get to know what happens next.
Bass and Milly’s tempestuous relationship unites a former Delta Force biker and a Brooklyn born mafia princess with a 9 year old child who kills a man on club property. Determined to get to the bottom of her story Bass becomes Milly and Ollie’s new keeper and their stubborn tempers and the simmering attraction between them is camouflaged by verbal insults that lead to incredible passion. Milly is deadly in her own right after years on the run from Ollie’s Russian mafia father who will stop at nothing to get his son back. I loved her bad a$$ attitude, her vehemence at having any man tell her what to do, and her love and devotion for Ollie whose own survival skills are finely honed. Bass might be the club’s comedian but his humor hides a man who isolates himself from emotional entanglements after being emotionally abandoned as a child. When the Hounds enter into a fierce battle with the Russian mafia all bets are off. This series shines with strong willed heroes and their feisty and independent heroines, sizzling sexual chemistry, hold your breath action, and an intricately woven and beautifully detailed suspense filled storyline that kept me engrossed from start to finish.
Well...this one started out how many do in this series, but quickly took a turn. I loved Milly and Ollie from the start and my heart broke when we learned their story. Milly was doing the best she could in a shitty situation and it was nice to see her get a reprieve with the hounds and didn't have to be so vigilant for a bit.
Bass wasn't the best with Milly at the start, which was understandable, as he was forced to be her keeper when all he wanted was solitude after being gone for so long. He did change it tune, but it took a bit. But by the time all the action happened at the end, they were together, just not admitting it to themselves, let alone anyone else.
And what a cluster it was towards the end. I didn't expect the damage to be what it was, can only take solace at what was revealed at the end, but even that is little because things did end on a bit of a cliff hanger and it seems more shit is about to explode.
This is another great addition to this fast paced series. Milly is fierce when it comes to protecting her son, Ollie, and will go down fighting her last breath to keep him safe. Bass is looking for some R & R after being a way for a year, but fate keeps putting this warrior woman in his path and he can't help but admire her snark. Ollie is not your normal 9 year old and has demons that keep him awake at night. You can't help but feel heartbreak for all that he has been through. This book is an action packed suspense you won't be able to put down.
Bass and Milly had me in their corner. They both are looking for a little rest and relaxion, but she has trouble on her tail and has to keep herself alert. Bass is drawn to her and the MC has taken up space with her and Olie. Will she get finally get the protection she needs to keep them safe and will it lead her along a path to happiness. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
This new installment of the Hounds of the Reaper series really upped the stakes! We had a badass woman on the run with her child, Russian gangsters, and some handsome mafia men as a bonus.
The pacing is quick with plenty of action, in and out of the bedroom. The ending has me a little feral for the next book (aka I'm dying inside).
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thank you to the author and Hidden Gems for the copy.
Bass has been missing in action for a bit while helping set up something for the club. He's usually the easy-going funny guy in the group. Milly is in hiding with Ollie. Milly is overprotective of Ollie. Normally the couples have a connection. Unfortunately, the two weren't fleshed out and the connection fell kind of flat. Hopefully this is a one off. The rest of the series has the connections and fleshed out characters.
Wow that took a turn I did not expect Especially “Penny, Jack & whatever her name is? Wendi or her real name I knew. Crazy wasn’t what she seemed . Fake fake fake. And that roommate of Ruby’s … she is fake too .. I just know it! Plants informants for crzy8z??? Or worse? Can’t wait for Casper I was shocked by LAW but I’m certain Ruby already knows about him. She isn’t reacting she isn’t stupid either.
This is Bass and Milly's story. This is a well written action packed, easy to read story, with family, friendships, emotions, loss, secrets, intrigue, challenges, humour, witty banter, heartbreak, violence, twists and turns, undeniable chemistry, and love, which all leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and captivating addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Wasn’t expecting much from bass as he had been away for a while and was the joker in the mc. Also previous book was a bit disappointing but the author nailed this one. Liked Brooklyn although she did tend to be OTT however she loved Ollie and protected him. She was perfect for bass and their story was filled with drama and intrigue. Great retribution but also sadness as one of their own is no longer there. Really looking forward to next book.
This is another installment in the Hounds of the Reapers MC. Millie was on the run with her son and Bass was the man who is stepping up to help her. I loved the twists and turns in this book and it was a big page turner for me.
To say this author has left me wanting for more is an understatement. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
My goodness is there a lot going in in this story, danger, secrets, mystery, mistrust, trust, evil, attraction, family, revenge, friends, putting it all on the line and so many examples of love. This is the 1st book that I have read from this series and I enjoyed the twists and turns, and the journey it took me on. I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.
Honestly, this book had more angst than was needed. I was hoping it would be an instalove type of story, but it was definitely not - which was a bummer. The storyline was a bit weird too with the mafia connection that made me feel like the author just wanted to jump on the mafia train more than anything, but I'm guessing we'll see a mafia spinoff series come out of it.
Enjoyed Milly and Bass' journey to their 'I like it rough' HEA. Miily is that hard-nosed woman that pushes all Bass's buttons, and he's enjoying it. Bass is the guy that can handle Milly and have her thoughts scattered. The two are good together.
This book has more twists and turns than any in this series and I’m here for it! We know Bass and Milly will be together but the way they end up there is a whole other story! A MUST read! But check out the first 5 in the hounds series first!
These books are so good, I absolutely loved Bass and Milly’s story❤️❤️❤️ these boys love hard and protect even harder. A definite page turner and very entertaining. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ you will not be disappointed 😎🖤
Another winner in this series of books. Good characters and storyline along with lots of twists and turns. Keeps your attention. Looking forward to the next book.
This was a really good read. I loved the sass that the female charters have and they are not about to back down in a fight. Really good book in the series.
Meets the new renter and her son and knows something up. Milly and Ollie are on the run from the Russian mob. And will take Bass and the whole club to protect them.
