The stories are too distracting with their intricate nature and drama that has nothing to do with history. Not recommended for learning about the reality of what people went trough during that time since it doesnt seem to be the focus of this novel. Recommended only if you want a family drama with hints of history. For a proper understanding of what people went trough during those periods I would search for something else.
