The Road to Serenity took on a dual meaning in this book because Noémie and Kacey were journeying to a physical and mental place of Serenity.

Some may consider him a coward for running but it’s what was best for his mental health after yet another explosive outburst leads to his third arrest within a calendar year. Fed up with his hot temper NBA superstar Kacey is cut from his team and his contract snatched away. He has become a liability within the league and no one is willing to work with him. In an effort to clear his head, find some semblance of peace and duck from the limelight, Kacey packs up the Bentley and hits the road with no destination in sight.

Noémie is 23 and instead of doing what 23yo’s should be doing like graduating college, partying and dating, she’s caring for her 7 year old sister because their mother cares more about being laid up with and loved by a man than being their for her children. Noe doesn’t really care about her relationship with her mother at this point because the damage is done and she’s an adult but she wants desperately for her mother to do right by her little sister. After their mother chooses a man over them yet again, Noe packs up her sister with no destination in mind and hits the road!

Two lives on two completely different paths find a healing journey together after an unusual meeting. After bumping into each other, Kacey is drawn to these young ladies and want to help them any way he can. Noémie believes if she can just make it to her aunt in Serenity, FL, all will work out! Neither of them had any idea what lay ahead but they were open to whatever possibilities blew their way!

This was a really good down home, small town love story with none of the angst and toxicity attached to it! It was so refreshing reading about this crew and I enjoyed their story more than I anticipated! There’s nothing like a feel good story that gives you the warm and fuzzies of Black Hallmark Love!

What a beautiful read. Two people who have found themselves in situations that are harming their peace, decide to get a change of scenery to figure it all out, and receive so much more.

Kacey, the NBA phenom, has been making a name for himself, but not it a good way. Fights and arrests have soured his team and cost him big time. It doesn't help that his father, who is also his manager, practices tough love to the point that Kacey doesn't care to be around him. With social media bad mouthing him, and his father in his ear, he needs a break from everything, so he flees. A road trip to nowhere is just the thing Kacey needs right now.

Noemie is a young woman who has had to grow up fast, as her mother behaves as if she has not one responsibility. If Noemie didn't step up, there would be no one to care for her seven-year-old sister Chloe. Although she wishes her life was different, she doesn't regret taking care of Chloe. But when her mother really shows her ass, and puts them out, ish gets real quick. She packs up her car with Chloe in tow, and leaves for Serenity, where he Aunt Georgia lives. She just needs to make it there, and all her problems will be solved.

Along the way Noemie unexpectedly meets Kacey, when her luck is starting to run out. He graciously offers to assist her, and the help never stops. Kacey was drawn in by Noemie and Chloe quickly, and his desire to help them was overwhelming. The three of them had a time on their journey, while learning and growing on the way.

Move to a small town they say, clean air, and good people. Uhhhh..... them damn folks in Serenity were messy as hell! All of them! 😤👀 While Noemie was trying to find her groove, Kacey was right by her side supporting her the entire way. The way their relationship evolved was sweet, and you couldn't help but root for them. Now that revelation that Noemie learned about her Aunt Georgia threw me for a loop, cause what?? 😡 Little Miss Chloe was a whole mess, with all her questions and her sassiness. Really enjoyed this read. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

🥺❤️

4.5 ⭐️The Road to Serenity was a good one! It was definitely giving small town vibes and hallmark - which is not a bad thing in my eyes. I felt awful for Noe and Chloe because their “mom” did them dirty, but the way Noe took that on the chin and stepped up for her sister was nothing less than admirable! Speaking of Chloe, she brought so much joy to the book! She had no real clue what was going on but she didn’t let that steal her happiness. I really loved everything about Kayce! He was a bad boy in the NBA, but really he was crying out for help and that’s where Noe and Chloe stepped in and changed his life. It was so stinking cute seeing him be so attentive and protective of his girls and standing up to his family. I liked the beginning of the story, the way the characters met- it was very much “stranger danger” but what’s the worst that could happen? An NBA superstar willing to help a a woman who is down on her luck and subsequently falls in love with said woman? Sign me up! 😏Kayce was the upgrade they needed but Noe struggled with allowing him to help and I was thinking, “PLEASE!”. And the drama and messiness that happens in small towns was perfectly depicted on page, because those people really tried it!! 🤬 I wish we got to see the mother eat her words on page because she deserved all bad things and I would have liked to see Kayce on the court, after his second chance. Nonetheless, it was a very sweet book that had me swooning. Good work, as always!

This story was so good! I loved everything about Ladybug, Chole, and Kacey! This book and all of Sabrea's books are about forgiveness and accepting new love. For Noe, it was dealing with the real truth of someone she loved and willing to be ok with the outcome while still being a great sister to Chole. As for Kacey, it was about him just doing him and not losing himself in the process like he was before. Ain't gonna lie, this small city was a hot mess! I had high hopes that Noe would find a friend Cree, but I was wrong! lol I would love to get a story on Austin or maybe an update on the three of them and their lives in Houston.

Overall a great book! Glad you're back!

really good

I really enjoyed this story. It was super sweet. Kacey is a bad boy with a reputation and Noemie and Chloe are down on their luck. They deserved all the good things in life and Kacey gave them everything. Road trip. Small town. A whirlwind romance.

I wish Cree would’ve been a better friend. She talked way too much for me. I wish Noe got one true friend throughout this story. I’d say this story was a tad slow. There were few things that could’ve been tightened up but overall I really liked this story.

Peaceful read

I love the rah rah as much as the next girl and while this book does have its drama…it’s sweet! It reminds me of poetic justice (1993) starring Janet Jackson and Tupac! It’s such a beautiful read. Makes me want to go outside and be on a beach somewhere

The road to healing. This was my first read by this author. This was a well written, feel good story about self healing by finding love. Loved Ladybug, Chloe and Kacey’s story.
