This is the best sports manga I've ever read.
There is no bad volleyball team, and just because other team is your opponent it doesn't mean they are evil and bad. This is beautifully shown in this manga series. You have your favorite team, sure, but you are also cheering on the opponent's team. You can see how all teams worked really hard to get their chance to shine.
Also, this has such beautiful message how you can achieve a lot of things with hard work. Volleyball is the sport of height and strength, but the main character of this story is neither tall nor strong. And he menages to do a lot thanks to his ambition, his team players and his passion for volleyball.
Anyone who likes sports manga, I recommend this one!

Much as I hate the Shiratorizawa coach, I love that the boys who have actually played against Hinata recognize the unfairness of what's happening.

Me encanta que haya un camp dónde los jugadores puedan entrenar. Todos con y contra todos...creo que es súper sano y como se ve en el tomo ayudan muchísimo al juegos en general.

Goodness! Almost gave this volume 4 stars because that first half was ROUGH to get through!
Not because of the writing of course! More of because of the actions that Hinata takes and seeing his reactions to those choices that he made. That was hard. While I was super embarrassed by what Hinata did, it was heart-breaking see him on the verge of almost wanting to break down(?). I think because of these things though, Furudate really shows Hinata in such a real way. I've admired Hinata for so long that it's hard to think of him as a young man with real emotions beyond the "I'm going to do whatever it takes to win" mentality. For that first half, I give a five stars because I had so much compassion for him in how he was more than just my amazingly inspiring fictional senpai.
I am so glad Hinata didn't give up! I'm glad he got fussed at and lectured, but I'm also glad he took their words to heart in making the most of being a ball boy. That last half we really see him grow and take on a totally new perspective.
Plus, with that last half, it was just fun! I LOVED seeing so many different guys together that aren't all from Karasuno! They make a fun combination and just made me smile on more then one occasion. Though definitely NOT Washijo. UGHHHH, straight hater status! That's all it is!
Overall, outside of the secondhand embarrassment, I loved seeing Hinata's dedication and growth in this one. I really loved how he held onto that toothbrush kit a little longer and held onto hope. <3
(Kageyama's part of the story was fun, but not quite as exciting as Hinata's. I mean Kageyama didn't crash a volleyball camp like Hinata did. ;P)

3.75 stars - good once I got past the initial embarrassment of Hinata crashing the training camp TvT I get why he did it and it was vital to his growth as a player but god was it hard to watch and then read. It was nice how everyone warmed up to him though.
On the other hand Kageyama’s time at his training camp was interesting(?). Liked meeting the new characters but some of them ticked me off (specifically Atsumu I don’t even know why TvT). He’s definitely improving both as a player and in his mindset though which is great

This is a very cringy volume it's bordering on painful to read. Still, it has that magical sparkly "teenager doing his best to realise his dreams" and I'm always down to read that.

Hinata you glorious little idiot! Thankfully I didn't get any secondhand embarassment, I just found it funny. Loooove seeing Hinata get a new perspective and improve in areas other than striking! Also a lot of fun to finally get to know some of the big players outside of Karasuno.

It took me a considerable amount of time to bring myself to finish reading this one. Why? Three words:
Second-hand embarrassment!
I mean I knew it was coming, because I'd seen it in the anime (and believe me, it was hard enough to get through it then), but somehow that didn't really help. Some people might think of Hinata deciding to crash the special training camp at Shiratorizawa as being ballsy, or brave, or otherwise admirable. Not me. I found it so awkward, to the point where it was actually a little uncomfortable to watch/read about. And it may have all worked out for him in the end, but that doesn't stop the situation from being absolutely cringeworthy.
I'd have given this volume a lower rating for that alone, but on reflection that didn't really seem fair. After all, once I was done cringing I still enjoyed this volume as much as I've been enjoying the others.

honestly this volume did take me a while to read. not that it was boring, but it took the plot to a direction i wasnt expecting. like a training camp meant for certain players from different teams??? so cool but i did get lost a bit :’) poor hinata. dont understand why an old man is beefing with a teenager for real. i actually understand why but… why???!! also not kageyama collecting haters by the dozen. he’s just that good lol
