Nothing can keep fated Ones apart, not even distance. Especially not when you’re the son of the created warlock.
Arthur was ready to find his forever mate—his one and only other half. He was the firstborn of the created warlock and knew he had big shoes to fill. He just needed his One by his side, and he hoped that in doing so, he could get the thoughts of pretty blue eyes out of his mind, for Patrick wasn’t meant to be his. Patrick wanted away from his parents more than he wanted anything else. They were trying to force a mating that he knew was wrong. But his father was a more powerful warlock, one that had mastered all of his powers, so did he really have a choice? When the warlock of his teenage fantasies shows up and claims they’re fated Ones, Patrick can’t deny what his body is telling him. Arthur is the seventh book in the Warlocks of Amherst series. In it you will find a fated mate pair that despite their age-gap, they are absolutely perfect for one another. Their story will span centuries; starting at the beginning and finishing present day in Amherst. Many liberties were taken when writing this book, but it’s Arthur, Edison's first born—just go with it. This is an mpreg book, in an mpreg world.
It was a really sweet story and I like the way we jumped from past to present, but I do worry with new readers that they wouldn't know they shouldn't read this one after book 6 of the series but instead after book 13 of the paranormal enforcers series. And before that series the vampires of the beloved gem one. It is technically ok here as Arthur and Patrick are from the Amherst coven, but chronologically it complicates things for those that aren't reading as the books are released
If you think you have already read this story, be not confused. This book is based off of a five chapter bonus story written by the author a few years back. But now they have their full tale told. . . and it is wonderful! Arthur and Patrick are true couples' goals.
Arthur has a lot to live up to being the first born of the created warlock. Not that his fathers aren't loving and supportive of him, but that is a lot of expectation to carry on your shoulders with no one to share your life with. But when the goddess appears to guide you to your truest love, Arthur isn't one to argue. To his surprise, his "One" is someone from his not-too-distant past. Undeterred by the obvious age difference and their very different upbringings, Arthur is more than excited to bring his beloved One home. Arthur is the steadfast and loyal partner everyone wishes for while also the romantic and steamy person dreams are made of. But he is neither overbearing or perfect. He gets overwhelmed by fatherhood for a time, his choices are not always the wisest, and he is prone to spread himself a bit too thin.
Patrick just wants to be loved. He was happy living in the warlock coven in England until he turned seventeen and his parents inexplicably swept him off to a tiny town in Switzerland. There, he is subjected to his parents abuse and belittlement. He becomes an unpaid servant at the squalid tavern they run. His magic is forbidden and his father is never above using his own supernatural abilities to keep Patrick under their thumbs by inflicting pain on a magical whim. Patrick has severe self esteem and worthiness issues, lack of hope, and cannot see an end to the dreariness he finds himself trapped in. The only happiness he has is the memories of the gorgeous man that was the son of the coven master in England. And then that man walks through the tavern door.
The story spans many centuries, and sometimes feels like the reader is viewing snippets, or the highlights, of their story. . . but only in the best of ways. When you have characters as long-lived as the MLs are, to tell their full tale would be a tome of epic proportions. The flow of the plot never felt choppy or disjointed, one time frame smoothly segues into the next. The pacing is even and never boring. It also brings in to play issues that were started in Ms. Ryland's most recent book in the Paranormal Council Enforcers series, "Warwick." It is not a stand-alone story. Reading the previously written books set in this world is highly recommended.
This book is an amazing addition to both the "Warlocks of Amherst" series and the author's works as a whole. The story fills in a few unanswered questions of the past while bringing more possibilities for future installments in this immersive supernatural world.
Arthur by Taylor Rylan is the 7th book in her Warlocks of Amhurst series. Many characters from previous ones occur in this one as well as understanding the paranormal world Ms. Rylan has created so I would suggest that you read the others first. This is the story of two warlocks who discover they are each other’s One and how they create a life of love together. The first part of the story takes place in 1508. Arthur is the oldest son of the created warlock and expects to be the coven master one day. He has been out looking for his One when the Goddess appears to him and tells him he has to go to Switzerland immediately because someone needs his help. He does as he is told and there he finds Patrick. Patrick had lived with the coven at one time but his parents moved away. They were abusive to him and luckily Arthur saved him from a marriage to a human woman. Arthur remembered him and thought he was a good man but he was much too young for him so left him alone. Patrick also thought of Arthur often but knew he was way out of his league and since they had moved away he would probably never see him again. Arthur whisked him away to his coven in England and it is there that they imprinted on each other in a steamy love scene which led to Patrick’s heat, and of course a baby they named William. Patrick never felt that he was worthy of Arthur but over time he convinced him that he was and everyone in the coven was kind and helpful to him. And it didn’t take long for both men to fall madly in love with each other. As time went on they had 2 more boys who went on to have families of their own. Then they moved to Amhurst where they became part of the Council of Paranormals which Arthur’s father was a part of as the created Warlock which made Arthur the coven Master. They were very happy visiting their children and grandchildren and running the coven but Patrick longed for more children. In the present day the goddess visited Arthur again and sent him to Patrick who was visiting in Montana and lo and behold they had another boy. In the meantime there are some decisions that must be made about who they will allow in the coven and also some problems with their youngest son, Edric, that need to be solved. Luckily their friends and family have ideas to help them which may include another baby. I enjoyed this story but there wasn’t a lot of action in it. It is truly a love story about their everyday life and how their lives changed as time went on. Arthur was ever present and protective and his love for Patrick shined in everything he did. Patrick was his grounding rock and partner in everything as they made decisions together. Many characters from other stories appeared in this one, especially those that were family to Arthur and the children also played an important part in it. Ms. Rylan has created a novel world of paranormals that I have thoroughly enjoyed throughout all of her books. I recommend this story if you like to read about the everyday lives of paranormal men who show their love for each other in everything they do, especially when they are together, and create a life full of caring and happiness.
Another awesome book in this series. I highly recommend reading the complete series before Arthur as many of the characters show up in this book. The story starts at the beginning of the 1500’s when Arthur returns from Spain. He see his fathers who are the head of their coven. When he went for a walk, he met the goddess who told him he needed to go save his One. When he get to Switzerland, he started getting vibrations that his one was close. Patrick left with his parents when he was a teenager from Edison’s coven. When he was told by Master Edison to go and see Wallace and Arthur, he went and found them. This is the start of their relation that spans over 500 years. Love how they worked together, the chemists off the charts and great world building. Cannot wait to read more by this author.
I’m glad that Taylor decided to expand of Arthur and Patrick’s story. I read their original freebie novella twice before but it now includes up to the present day. I thought it was a good addition to the Warlocks of Amherst Series. This book is about Arthur, Edison and Wallace’s oldest son after he tracks down Patrick who used to be part of their coven until his parents took him away, Patrick ends up being his One. Arthur was sent to find him by the Goddess. Man, Edison and Wallace were a lot different as parents to their oldest boys compared to the twins and how they are with all their grandchildren but maybe it had to do with the time period that this book was mainly set in? I’m looking forward to reading more books by Taylor Rylan in the future. I’d recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
I have always loved Arthur and Patrick, and as the new coven master in Amherst (as well as being Edison’s eldest son), Arthur and Patrick feature a lot as background characters throughout the interweaving series. We enjoyed a short a few years ago showing how they first met and mated but getting a full length story - getting more details of their first months together and then a sizable story focusing on the present day and where they are as a couple after several centuries together was super enjoyable. As I already said, I have always loved them and this made me love them more. They are so dedicated to the coven, each other and their family (both immediate and extended).
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I love getting the backstory of all these characters. This time it was awesome because it's Edison and Wallace's first born. If you haven't read this series or world I highly suggest you do. This a world where I plan to do a re-read and take notes, lol 😆. There are so many amazing characters and family lines and it's a little hard trying to remember them all properly. But I'm so here for it though. I can't wait for all the new books!
Overall great book. I loved the chemistry and love both Patrick and Arthur shared. I was not fond of the time skips though and I wish we could have seen all their children because they visit on and his maybe more then once but we don’t hear about that couple much in other books (do they have their own book?) and we hear about how heir youngest child needs some help however we don’t see it be put into action.
Arthur doesn't think Patrick is meant to be his. Patrick doesn't want an arranged mating. Will they be blessed by the fates? Of course they will, this is book 7 of a fabulous series! This is a romance for the ages and we get several glimpses into their lives over the course of it. I love how the Amherst family continues to grow and evolve. So many wonderful characters and happy relationships made this a feel-good read sure to give you the warm and fuzzies.
Patrick and Arthur may be fated, but it takes a bit of time for them. This one was written in an interesting jump through various times across the span of their relationship. With them both being paranormal creatures, I liked that this gave us a move expansive experienced with them. Patrick was just such a sweet kind spirit I was happy when Arthur accepted their age difference, and they made such a beautiful life together. Lots of family and children.
So excited to read Arthur and Patrick’s full story. Full of sweetness, fluff, romance and heat. And of course, sweet babies! Some of their story we got in a novella and maybe peaks in other books but this one is an expanded novel starting from the beginning thru present day in this world. I loved this whole story and I can’t get enough of this world the author has built. Looking forward to reading more.
Absolutely loved seeing the details of Arthur and Patrick's life come together. Their story have weaved in and out of other stories in the Paranormal Universe and Council, but here, Taylor Rylan has pulled all those strings together in her usual expert way. Every time I read a new installment of this ongoing saga, I want to read it all from the beginning again. This is another chapter in a great Universe of paranormals, and I couldn't love it more!
I wasn't sure how this book would read as I've read all the others but it was great starting out before Arthur found his one and then having their first children and then getting to the present!!! It was awesome because it reminds you of people that you may have forgotten and brings you up to date!!!!! It was perfect I really really love all the series' in & around this omneverse!!!! Thank you Lori
No spoilers of any kind included. So this will be all that I say about this book Arthur and that is I thought it was fantastic, to finally be able to read Arthur and Patrick’s full story that I waited for, for a couple of years I was not disappointed at all because apparently good things definitely do come to those who wait. So it’s a yes I most definitely do recommend this book.
I fell in love with Arthur and Patrick all over again!! The emotions I felt for these two beautiful characters is overwhelming and I am not afraid to admit that I have cried and laughed while reading this book. Thank you Taylor Rylan for bringing their full story to life and for creating the universe they are in 🥰😍💖💗
This is another amazing addition to the world that Taylor Rylan has created. I am especially happy that we get a full story of Arthur and Patrick story. I juts love these two so much! So I just love to see their love story and it just made me love them even more. I can't wait for the next book in this world!
This story of Patruck and Arthur, was nice. There was a bit od action in the beginning but that was it. I'm always happy when the characters are in love and have kids. But a book should consist of more than that. A bit of sexy time was thrown in a few times. But, dang, how much sap does one book need? JMHO.
Not bad over all. I get the need for the huge time skips to fill in the time spans in Arthur and Patrick's lives, but it does eave holes. Good chemistry between couple but really? Arthur is too oblivious, and I never thought I would say I read 'I love you' too many times! Over all it just fills in details about a couple who have been secondary characters in many of Rylan's other books.
Loved this so much!! I have every book, in every paranormal series and I feel like a member of the family!! Patrick got all the love and children that he wanted!! So hood! Can't wait for the next book!!!
A little late than never considering they were together from the start of the series. But, don’t read them out of order because the last few chapters will confuse you and be spoilers to earlier books. It was even better than I expected. Very sweet.
What a fun read. It was wonderful to have a story that had so much interaction with Wallace and Edison with visits from Primrose. Well written with good development.
It was a joy to read this and learn about how Arthur and Patrick first met. Their chemistry hits from right at the start and just keeps getting better the more you read. It’s always wonderful seeing his dads in any story especially seeing them interact with their kids and grandkids or even their great grand kids. I will highly recommend this book and series to anyone who loves reading paranormal books.
i always love to read about the warlocks of amherst i’m glad Arthur and Patrick had their complete story lots of love kids and sexy scenes truly enjoyable
Arthur is ready to find his mate. When he returns home after time away, he is greeted by the Goddess, who tells him where he can find his mate. Patrick wants to escape from his parents, but every time he tries, his dad sees him, and the punishments get worse each time. When he finds Master Edison in his family tavern, Patrick believes he might have a chance to get away and find his happily ever after.
Arthur and Patrick are so sweet together. I was thrilled to see them get an expanded story and to see their story develop more. I loved ending with the present times, seeing Edric a bit older, and the growing pains of being raised as an "only" child.
