History of Louisiana

Great overview of a rich culture that included the Native American tribes, the Europeans, African Americans and other cultures. This short book tells of the Louisiana Purchase as well.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It is a nice overview of the history of Louisiana that let me learn more about it than the vague references that I knew before. Louisiana is a true melting pot.

Meh. Repetitive and didn’t flow or transition well. Like each section was written independently and at different times, then pulled together in a book.

This was an interesting look into the overarching history of Louisiana and its many influences on the culture of the area. There were many contenders for the Louisiana territory, and the book made it easier to understand the juggling of powers through the time period. Although, I felt more information on the Native Americans would have been nice.
