Nothing shapes glass like fire.

Theresia Dvorak has nothing left of her parents—nothing save her dowry, a priceless crystal vase stolen and sold by her own stepmother. Theresia will do anything to secure what is rightfully hers—even assume a false identity and steal her future back. When she gains entrance to a house party and has a memorable run-in with the handsome naval captain Rolland Reese, her mission is compromised. She swore never to trust an Englishman again, but when he makes a daring proposal she cannot refuse, she must work side by side with him if either of them is to achieve their aim.

Rolland is stunned when his homecoming from the war takes a decidedly deadly turn. The quickest solution is to throw a house party and invite all the suspects. With the stakes incredibly high, Rolland must root out the killer before they turn their sights to the next potential victim: his own father. The mysterious Theresia is undoubtedly the most suspicious of his guests, but against all odds, he finds himself risking everything to protect her. As Rolland unravels a tangle of clues, he faces the greatest threats of all: a heart of fire and a future as fragile as glass.

This is one Cinderella retelling you don’t want to miss! Amazing! We have Theresia (Cinderella), who’s father was a Bohemian glass blower. Her father left a vase to her. But before she can claim it her stepmother sells it and Theresia will do everything and anything to get it back. Captain Rolland Reese(our prince), throws a house party to solve a murder and what better way than to invite all the suspects to the party. When he finds Theresia hiding behind his bedchamber curtains and she explains she is looking for something that was taken from her, he believes her. They part ways but keep coming back together again. So they decide to help each other.
I loved this story so much! The characters are so well developed and all the important characters and elements from Cinderella are there even a godfather and glass slippers. Theresia and Rolland are a fantastic couple, their chemistry is great but it’s their love for each other, that sacrificial love that makes this story so beautiful! I loved both the love story and the mystery of who was behind the murder and where the vase was. definitely recommend this story!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Content: there is a brief fortune teller scene, death/murder, mild violence

When it comes to Cinderella retellings, I loved how The Lady Glass had just enough odes to the original tale but still felt complete original and unlike any retelling I’ve read before.

When Theresia attends a house party to find her deceased father’s priceless dowry for her….her memorable run in with a handsome captain might lead her down a path she always hoped to avoid.

I really enjoyed our two main characters and their easy love for one another. Rolland is damaged from the war but he always maintains his good nature and loyalty to friends and country. I also really loved Theresias ties to her Bohemia roots and how glass blowing was a large part of her connection to her family.

There is a mystery plot thought out the book that I didn’t predict and added an extra layer to the story and connected our two main characters in unexpected ways.

A great story for those who love sweet romance, and a dash of mystery!

I loved this Cinderella retelling with its own little twists! This was my first fairytale retelling by Anneka and now I want to read her others! Full of mystery, spies, murder, and romance, I couldn’t get enough!

Theresia wants nothing more than to find the priceless vase left to her by her father. Stolen by her cruel stepmother, she has no option but to sneak into a house party to try and retrieve it. What she wasn’t planning on was running into a handsome gentleman in the middle of her search.

Rolland is throwing a house party with his friends as a disguise to reveal who the murderer is behind the plot to kill his father. When he discovers a thief trying to find a vase in his room, he realizes they might be able to help each other in their quests. But she is a puzzle he can’t solve, and the more time he spends with her, the more he wants to know!

Things I Love:
💙Every bedchamber scene
💙Mystery/suspense
💙House party
💙The witty banter
💙The fortune telling
💙Under the bed scene
💙The vase hunt
💙The blackberry bush
💙Finger brushes
💙That first kiss!!!
💙Mysterious Godfather

I loved all the elements taken from Cinderella and used in a creative way to make this retelling unique! The romance was top notch and I loved how the characters grew throughout the story. There were so many hilarious moments and I loved their witty banter! The spy and mystery elements made this read so entertaining and I was invested the whole time! I kept trying to solve who the murderer was till the very end!
If you love fairytale retellings with a side of mystery then be sure to read this one!

No disrespect to the author at all, I loved her writing and Theresa and Rolland are lovely,

I just feel like I did not choose wisely to read an online version of the book; maybe if I had a paperback or a movie version I would move faster to read it.

But I loved the history of Anton Dvornak and ties to music. And these are my favorite quotes:
In that moment, it didn’t matter if she were a fish and he were a bear with
no possible home together or future. In his arms she was transformed into
the person she had always wanted to be—a person someone could cherish.
She stood on her toes and met him halfway, pushing herself into his kiss.
If one touch could spark the sound of a heavenly orchestra, this was it.”

“My zlato is meant for more than the Roma
life. Beyond her Bohemian heritage and impulsive ways is a kindhearted,
intelligent woman. Anyone who cannot see her worth is blind.”

“You might not think well of me or my opinion, but you are a good man,
Rolland Reese, aren’t you?”
His eyes narrowed. “After meeting you, I cannot say what sort of man I
am. I’m hiding women in my room and secreting them home in my
carriage.” 😂 I love that Rolland has a sense of humor!

CW: racism, some mentions of abusive partners, some fights in the navy.

I am a huge fan of the Cinderella fairy tale – and have been since the day my three-year-old self princess-walked down the grand staircase of the old theater in my hometown after watching the Disney version for the first time. I also collect versions of Cinderella from around the world and different regions of the US, and one sure way to pique my interest in a book is to at least imply – if not outright claim – that it’s a Cinderella retelling. So needless to say, the title of The Lady Glass, that classic glass slipper on the cover, and the hints tucked away in the book’s description had me super excited to read Anneka R. Walker’s newest Enchanted Regency Romance.

And ohhhhh blissful sigh. This one made my Cinderella-loving heart so happy. Sometimes in a retelling, the elements the author chooses to incorporate are done in such a heavy-handed fashion that there’s no magic left in the discovery. Not so in The Lady Glass. The ways in which Walker weaves nods to this beloved fairy tale throughout a delightful tale on its own merit made me smile each time I recognized one. I found the ‘beauty for ashes’ reference particularly meaningful as I’ve always thought the story of Cinderella is a perfect allegory for that Scriptural truth. (And the Bohemian glassblowers angle added just the right touch of magic and lore – and affection – to this story, too.)

Speaking of smiling… every time Theresia and Rolland shared a scene I couldn’t help but grin like a fool. Their banter, their immediate chemistry, the way they remain oblivious to how deep their feelings have become (even though everyone else can plainly see it) until they’re almost literally hit over the head with it – it just checked all the KissingBooks boxes for me. I really loved these two together (in case you couldn’t tell) and how they completed an emptiness in each other. (Notice that I did not say they completed each other, because I believe that only Jesus can do that for us, but they each definitely fit a missing piece in the other’s life.)

Bottom Line: Murder. Theft. Intrigue. Disguises. Forbidden Romance. Throw in clever nods to Cinderella, witty banter, a delightful hero/heroine match, and a Regency house party …. what more reason do you need to read The Lady Glass by Anneka R. Walker? I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and thought the author did a great job of weaving several threads together into an entertaining tapestry that charmed me from the start. Theresia is an admirable heroine, as courageous and smart as she is beautiful and witty, and Rolland makes for a very dashing hero who becomes even swoonier the more besotted he becomes. The side characters were just as layered, and even when you begin to think you know how it will all play out… don’t get too relaxed. Oh – and don’t worry if the clock chimes midnight while you’re reading The Lady Glass, the fairy tale magic of this story won’t vanish so easily!

“Why are you keeping a woman under your bed, Rolland?”

I adore a fairytale retelling that is full of unique aspects and twists, and when a mystery is added to this Regency Cinderella? I’m all in. From the very first meet cute to the very last page, I was invested in the characters, the romance, and the secrets.

Theresa, a violinist, has a very difficult step-family and is determined to find a stolen crystal vase that her father left her. There is a killer on the loose and Rolland and his friends decide to host a house party to contain the suspects and try to stop another death from occurring. This duo works and reasons together so well. Theresa agrees to pose under a false name to help them as a spy and I loved the vibe that resulted from this whodunit tale. I felt like I was watching a historical Clue game in real-time and it was so much fun to see everything unfold. And I loved the glimpses of Godfather.

This author does a great job of weaving together complexities that are both entertaining and engaging. I also found myself laughing at Theresa's spunk and swooning over the dangerous interactions. Such a fun story that left me with a satisfied smile on my face.

Content: mild violence/death; mild romance

A unique Regency spin on the classic Cinderella story! There’s no glass slipper, but there is a glass vase that might be the key to treasure. Theresia Dvorak will do anything to get her vase back, even attend a house party as the Lady Glass. Rolland is a hero in every sense of the word and their sweet romance is very satisfying!

This fairytale retelling is delightful. I loved the nods to Cinderella throughout the book. They are subtle, providing the perfect touch to the overall story, and I really enjoyed it.

Rolland and Theresia were a good pair. I liked that Rolland was gentle and thoughtful, even despite all the terrible things he saw and experienced in the navy during the war with Napoleon. Theresia was so kind to people, but I also loved that she had a fiery side. Her treatment of Helena was especially admirable. I liked how Rolland dealt with the whole issue regarding Theresia’s step-mother and her background.
The way they slowly began to fall for each other was so sweet. I always love a slower burn, and while this one isn’t what I’d call super slow, I loved the depth that developed in their relationship over the course of the book.
The little tidbits about glass blowing and Bohemia were really cool. I’m super intrigued now, and want to look up glass products from the era, particularly the crystal. I also really liked the mystery sub-plot. I don’t know what we call this genre (Romantic mystery? Romystery?) but I am totally here for it!
Beautiful book, Anneka! I loved it and can’t wait to recommend it to all my friends.

“The Lady Glass" by Anneka Walker is such a sweet Regency romance! If you know me, you know I love a good retelling. This one absolutely delivers! The author does an excellent job of incorporating the elements of the original “Cinderella” fairy tale into the story in a non-magical way. Ms. Walker gives fun nods to the fairy tale, while also making it a unique story of her own. The love story between the main characters is perfection. I could feel the chemistry and sparks fly between the them every time they met. I love their interactions and banter. There is even a moment similar to Darcy’s hand flex from the 2005 “Pride and Prejudice” movie. Swoon!! Rolland, our male protagonist, is a good representation of a character dealing with chronic pain. Rolland is a little gruff on the exterior, due to his previous experience as a naval captain, with a heart of gold. Theresia is spunky, brave, and stubborn. Will Rolland and Theresia be able to each achieve their goals together by solving the murder mystery and finding Theresia’s missing glass vase? These two have a bit of an enemies-to-lovers story, which is a trope many readers love! This story is not just a romance, but also a murder mystery, ripe with spies and intrigue! I enjoyed learning more about female violinists of the time, the Congress of Vienna, and the Czech glassblowers. Ms. Walker even incorporates a bit of faith content into the story, which I always love to see. Although “The Lady Glass” is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. Ms. Walker gives a quick summary of who characters are from other books, so you will not be confused if you only read this book or start here. I want to now go back and read the rest of the books in this series. Fans of “Bridgerton” will love this romance without having to be worried about explicit content.

Content: I give this story a PG rating. It is clean as far as the romance. Some examples of the content are: a person wants to keep from being seen as a “light skirt”; there’s mention of the prejudice of the English against the Roma people during this time period; some characters go to a fortune teller; there is talk of a woman being mistaken for someone’s mistress; someone curses, but the words aren’t actually spoken; someone was drunk in the past.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley, Anneka Walker, and Covenant Communications and was under no obligation to post a review.

The Lady Glass is a fast-paced spy regency romance, a loose retelling of Cinderella, and it’s delightful! I fell in love with Thereisa and Rolland, loved their banter and chemistry, and was swept away by the danger and hijinks. While the Cinderella framing was clear, the plot was fresh, suspenseful, and clever.
I loved the connection from the classic glass slippers to this book’s Bohemian glass-blowers—a creative take. I read the book in just a few hours, and it provided an entertaining evening of escape and adventure.
I recommend if you’re looking for a quick read, you’re a fan of historical romance, and if you like some suspense and danger along the way.

What happens when you combine a regency fairytale retelling with a murder mystery? You get The Lady Glass!
This newest addition to Anneka R. Walker’s series, Enchanted Regency Romance, did not disappoint and had so many new and fun elements.
We get to catch up with favorites from previous books and are introduced to a whole new set of good, and bad, characters. The hero and heroine, Rolland and Theresia, are fabulous main characters. I absolutely loved how they meet, their adventures, and the adorable and swoony moments they have whenever they happen to be alone. These two have undeniable chemistry and the tension builds and builds until it explodes and they can no longer refute their feelings. Add in the search for a priceless vase that is Theresia’s dowry and you’ve got an even greater story. Oh, and did I mention these two are also trying to solve a murder mystery? Add in that extra pressure, mystery, and intrigue and you get a romance story you’ll never forget.
I will say this story was able to surprise me in who did what. The whole time I kept guessing and didn’t even consider the end result. I loved feeling engaged from the first chapter and couldn’t put this book down because I just had to solve the mystery.
Basically this book is a fun and new take on a classic genre. If you love regency romance and a good riddle then this is the book for you!

I was completely hooked and pulled into this story from the beginning! I loved everything about it and didn't want it to end. If you're a fan of fairytale retellings, and Cinderella, you're going to want to grab this one. There's suspense and mystery amidst what you already know of Cinderella's story. There's even a Godfather who shows up in unexpected moments and in unexpected ways. He's the best!

The thrill of the chase and search with the beautiful love story throughout the story was perfection! This is my favorite book from Anneka Walker! I always look forward to reading her books but this one tops them all! It is the third book in her Enchanted Regency Romances but can be read as a standalone. I did love seeing the characters from the previous books in this one. I always love when we get to see favorite characters again!

The cast of characters was well developed and I loved how I kept guessing trying to figure out whodunnit. Can you figure out who it is?

The sweet love story was wonderful! I loved Theresia and Rolland! Happy Sigh for sure!!! Get ready to be swept away in mystery, romance, family and friendship! You're going to love it all!!!

Content: Clean. Some mild moments of peril, some deaths, nothing more than a few sweet kisses.

I received a copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

This was such an entertaining story! It’s a unique Regency-era retelling of the classic Cinderella story. There were several fun nods to Cinderella, but this is very much Ms. Walker’s own story.

I love how she deftly blended together a murder mystery, treasure hunt, and a sweet romance. It worked well together to create such an enjoyable story.

Theresia’s father left her one thing—a priceless crystal vase. After her stepmother steals and sells it, Theresia is determined to get it back. She’ll do anything to make that happen, even joining a house party as a spy, and pretending to be the Lady Glass.

Rolland is also on a quest, but for him it’s to flush out the person who wants his father dead. His friends decide a house party is the perfect way to solve the mystery.

During the house party, Theresia and Rolland have several interactions—some funny ones and some super swoony ones. I loved these two together!

She tries to stay focused on her mission, but Rolland is quite a distraction. The more time Roland spends with her, the deeper he falls, but a future together is seemingly impossible.

What I loved:
✨ Cinderella retelling
✨ Dual POV
✨ Protective MMC
✨ Forbidden romance
✨ Mystery & suspense
✨ Meddling friends
✨ Flirty banter
✨ The first Kiss
✨ HEA

This is the third in the series but it can easily be read as a standalone.

Many thanks to the author, Covenant Communications, and Austenprose PR for a gifted copy!

This Cinderellaesque story is one journey you do not want to miss! Walker packs everything a reader could want and more into this fairytale! I loved Theresia for her fortitude, courage, and tenacity! She was the perfect Cinderella! I loved the nods to the original story especially with the dresses and slippers! Rolland was a wounded “prince” and I loved the chemistry between them! The mystery element to the story made it that much better and the search for the vase kept me on my toes! If you are a fan of Cinderella, fairy tales, mystery, or romance, then The Lady Glass is the book for you! All the stars for this amazing Cinderella retelling by Walker! OVERALL STAR RATING: 4/5
CLEAN RATING: 5/5

An enchanting Regency romance loosely based on the story of Cinderella. Right from the get-go I adored the character of Theresia. She came off as very strong and driven…perhaps a little feisty in the most endearing of ways. I loved her determination in this book to reclaim what is rightfully hers. This story had such a perfect balance of humor, wit, charm and romance. And let’s not leave out the fact that it’s also a murder-mystery. Entertaining from start to finish.

You can’t have a proper Cinderella retelling without of course involving an evil stepmother. Theresia Dvorak has lost her parents and the only thing left for her is a dowry in the form of an incredibly unique handblown glass vase made by her father. The vase winds up missing and Theresia just knows that her stepmother had a hand in its disappearance. She knows her only hope of finding the vase is to hide her identity and invite herself to a house party where she feels the missing pieces to the mystery could come together. It’s at this house party that she runs into naval captain Rolland Reese. Their unique run-in threatens Theresia’s plans to unravel if she doesn’t work alongside him.

These two are quite a dynamic duo. It takes a while for them to earn each other’s trust, though their chemistry is immediate. I loved their dialogue - the perfect amount of banter and tension to keep you smiling. The perfect amount of mystery and suspense to keep you turning through the pages and an ending that will warm your heart. This is one of those books that you can practically see a movie version play out in your head while reading. Very beautifully done.

Delightful. Just enough mystery, drama, and romance to make it a light but captivating read. Author created a good sense of time and space, but 4 stars is because there was very little visual description of characters. At the end of the book I still didn't know what anyone looked like except small hints of specific things like scar or a hair color for few.

This was such a wonderful and engaging read that I purposely slowed myself down to enjoy and appreciate it fully. Given that it was the third in the series, I wanted to put together all the facts from the other stories and the new ones I got with every page of this one so I could figure out the mystery. There was also a delightful bunch of hilarious happenings that kept me smiling and laughing often. Theresia and Rolland are so perfect together and I loved watching them battle or puzzle things out. The inclusion of some Cinderella vibes was done so well too, that discovering them was a lot of fun. Plus, we got to see some cameos from the past books that made the story even better. Highly recommend you get all the books in this series so you can see how amazing they are for yourself. They will be favorites for others as much as they are for me now.

What a wonderful retelling of Cinderella! Anneka Walker is a master storyteller. I love this unique Regency Romance turned mystery turned spy thriller. The main characters were so likable and good.

Theresia’s story is one of rags to riches. She’s had to endure so much and has overcome it all. After being unfairly treated by her stepmother she comes home to claim her crystal vase. It is the last item she has linking her to her deceased father. It was his special gift to her and also her dowery. When her stepmother sells it without her permission Theresia is determined to recover it whatever the cost.

Roland has returned from war to find someone has been murdered and is now threatening his father’s life. He’s determined to find the murderer and prevent his father’s death.

Theresia and Roland meet under unusual circumstances and come to find that both of their causes may be related. So they join forces to find the vase and discover the murderer. What they didn’t expect was to find the feelings they had for each other.

This is an exciting tale that will keep you turning pages. I highly recommend it.

I am always excited when I see a new book by Anneka Walker. I enjoy fairy tale retellings and Cinderella is my favorite, so I was really looking forward to this one.

The romance was up and down for me
- it started well, quickly became an insta love connection and eventually finished strong. it was a bit much to go from virtual strangers (while he’s on the lookout for a murderer no less) to being so obsessed and possessive of one another. Honestly, that’s usually the best part - the initial spark of interest and watching it grow. We seem to have skipped it entirely.

The catalyst appeared to be the visit to the fortune teller, which I wasn’t a fan of either. Christians are warned against engaging in such things and it was just casually slipped in and seemingly used to take things from 0-60 in 5 seconds with our two MCs.

Theresia fits right in with and is thoroughly embraced by Tansy and Andalin. This bothers me because 1) none of them seem to have any flaws 2) they are nothing like the ton / what society values at that time which 3) makes them all feel kind of cookie cutter- ish. To be fair, I have this similar complaint with a lot of fairy tale retellings (too perfect), so it could just be sticking to the style. And 4) it feels like another kind of insta love. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like people are slower to connect and bond, to embrace and trust. No one is skeptical or jealous or just shy. No, the women see and determine they are smitten and meant to be so they just embrace her like family. I can’t relate to this, and certainly not over and over again. (Tandy, andalin, his mother, etc).

I liked the “godfather” - his history, how he was worked in, his role.

It was an interesting backdrop. I loved the attention to historical detail. I liked the murder mystery spin (she got me)! It was a good blend of familiar story elements and fresh, creative (Cinderella) ideas.

I have enjoyed the other fairy tale re-imaginings by this author so I was pretty excited to find out she wrote this new book! The first few chapters are really fun and I love how the two main characters meet and interact. It is fun (granted a little over the top) but a great way to start this novel. By the middle of the book I was just really puzzled on Theresia's "why" and her motivation to obtain an object that is the central plot point of this book. It seemed a bit strange and while I admire her stubborn side I really struggled being fully captivated and caught up in the story. There is a mysterious side to things and that helps moves things along but for me this was a little bit of a slower read. There is some humor and I think the author wrote those scenes perfectly. The romance is sweet and a slower build up to the ending which I did actually appreciate. Overall this is a decent read it just isn't my favorite by this author.

Three stars.

Fairytale inspired stories are so much fun! I love seeing how an author can reimagine aspects of popular fairytales into a new and unique story! The Lady Glass hits several of those classic and well known aspects of Cinderella, while offering a completely different plot that will draw readers in with mystery, theft, murderous plots and romance! The characters are witty and have a bit of a grumpy/sunshine feel to them. The ensemble of characters from previous books makes the reader feel as though they are catching up with old friends! This story has a little bit of everything, making it a great choice for historical romance readers who like a bit of danger and intrigue sprinkled into their story!

“All of your experiences for better and worse are what make you special.”

Theresa Deborah is a bold, incredibly kind, and determined. She has nothing left of her parents, not even her dowry, a priceless crystal vase stolen and sold by her own stepmother. But, Theresa will do anything to secure what is rightfully hers, including assuming a false identity and stealing her future back!
However, when she has a swoony run in with the handsome, loyal, and protective navel captain Rolland Reese, her mission is greatly compromised. She promised to never trust an Englishman again, but, when he makes a daring proposal she simply can’t refuse, she must work side by side with him if either of them is to achieve their aim against all odds! Unraveling a tangle of clues, and facing great threats is a guarantee but, it’s a heart of fire and a future as fraile as glass that has the stakes high…

“Like fire molding glass, love had changed the shape of her thoughts, her goals, and her very heart.”

-Read this book if you love: historical romance, lots of swoon, sparks of chemistry, delightful banter, mystery, suspense and danger, escape and adventure, just kisses, high stakes, endearing characters, and a HEA!

Dear @authorannekawalker The Lady Glass is a unique and delightful story. It is a fast-paced enchanting regency romance, a loose retelling of Cinderella, and spy elements, that will keep your full attention from start to finish. It has a bit of unconventional but, endearing characters with such heart. Yet, together they must learn to trust and love. Seeing them sacrifice for a greater purpose was extra sweet! This lovely story is not one to miss! 📚🙌🏻💎

“Life would never be easy, but with Rolland, she could endure the hardships and more fully enjoy the sweetness. Love had turned a difficult place into home.”

A Cinderella story with a dash of mystery set in the Regency era. Mix a determined heroine, a dashing hero, and a plot filled with intrigue, you get a story that offers readers an enchanting escape.

The only thing Theresia Dvorak wants is her dowry: a priceless crystal vase, left to her by her father; but it's been stolen by her step-mother and Theresia will do anything to get it back, including getting herself hired to play violin at a house party where the person who has the vase is supposed to be.

Rolland Reese is a Naval captain recently returned from the war injured. He and his friends have planned to host a house party to root out the culprit threatening his father's life, when he crosses paths with Theresia she becomes a part of their scheme.

This is the third book in the Enchanted Regency Romances and it's my favorite!! Cinderella is my favorite fairytale and I loved all the little nods to the story while remaining its own unique story. The scheming step-mother, a godfather that suddenly appears when needed, a lost slipper, and more. I loved Theresia and Rolland! Both are great characters on their own, but together they get an A+ in chemistry.

Things I loved:
*Secret identity
*Murder mystery
*Flirty banter
*Bedchamber scenes
*Dual POV
*Swoony hero
*Nods to Cinderella

This book is a delightful blend of historical romance and mystery, with a strong-willed heroine and a gallant hero. Note: You do not have to read the other books in the Enchanted Regency Romance series to enjoy this book. All can be read as standalones.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions in this review are my own.

Wowza!!! This book was freakin amazing!!!!! The first book in this series, The Masked Baron, was the first book I ever read by @authorannekawalker and I was immediately hooked! And then I joined bookstagram and couldn’t believe it when I got to arc read book 2. Now, I’m a lifelong fan girl and will always scream at the top of my lungs for all to hear, that YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!! 😁

This book takes a regency twist on a Cinderella retelling and it is full of mystery and swoon. It is the complete package y’all! Captain Rolland and Theresia’s meeting was anything but normal, and their second meeting was even more conspicuous (and hilarious 😂). Theresia can’t seem to keep herself out of situations that the ton wouldn’t be scandalized by 😉 and the Captain makes it his personal mission to help her and solve his own mystery.

There is sooo much to love about this book! Here’s a couple of my highlights:

🔮Dashing Captain
🔮 undercover work
🔮beloved faces from past books
🔮mystery
🔮grumpy/sunshine
🔮forced proximity
🔮one bed
🔮Witty banter
And so much more!!!!

Make sure you grab your copy if you haven’t already, because this is one of my favorite books of the year! Anneka nailed it, and it’s one I’ll be thinking about for a long time 😍

Thank you to the author, covenantcommunications and austenprose for an advance copy. All my love is freely given

I loved this book! I am usually a fan of fairly tale retellings, and I loved the Regency Era setting of this one. I loved seeing all the parts that I could connect to the traditional Cinderella, and I loved that this story had a mystery as well. And I did not figure out whodunit until it was revealed in the story (although I had a couple suspicions that were correct, but I wasn’t sure in my guesses), and I love that!

I received a copy from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Theresa from Bohemia has decided she would like to leave England. Her stepmother forced her to a girls’ seminary where she learned and then became a teacher. She returns home to get her dowry, a hand-crafted crystal vase left to her by her father. She overhears her stepmother selling it. Theresa’s unfailing efforts to retrieve her vase gets her involved in a spy murder mystery where she works with Captain Reese, posing as someone else during a house party.

I absolutely love Theresia's character! She is so full of passion, she knows who she is and what she wants and won't let anyone stand in her way to get it. Not even Captain Rolland. Which is a good thing that he has decided to help her in her quest. This is such a fun story with so many twists and turns with unexpected scenarios that you just can't help reading into the night.

Regency house party mystery with hints of Cinderella. It was a good story which I liked. The middle slows down a little with exploring all the backgrounds of the guest while they were sleuthing, and was hard to keep track of at first. Listened to audiobook. Great, clean love story!
