The drama is crazy though. The second book is about to be peak.
I freaking love the way this was written, how they slowly but surely fell for her one by one 🤌🤌😩😩
I didn't like Bishop and Kovu's insta-lust/insta-love at first but then I figured it was kinda necessary for the plot, but they're sooo cute, they can't fathom the idea of her being hurt and they're just the cutest. I love how they both can be so gentle then have some darker sides to them. Ugh so cute.
Crew's hesitance made alot of sense in my opinion but I love how he put his family above all and always considered his kids' opinions before moving forward. He's always the one who's most controlled during situations that require panicking.
Kaos is a mean ass bitch 😭😭😭😭
He's sooooo mean, like why does he have to talk to my girl Camilla like that. Ugh so annoying.
Camilla didn't have much logic in this book I fear 🫠 Likeee she should have ran for the hills even if they were gonna catch her. and she kinda just let throw her around so it was a bit annoying.
Overall not a bad book but it def gets better through the next books.

so i'm writing this review after dnfing the second book. at first i wasnt going to leave a review because this was so mediocre i didn't have anything to say. BUT THEN I READ THE SECOND BOOK. behold, the things i have to say:
first of all, the fmc is so chronically delusional that i almost feel kind of bad for her. the first piece of evidence i would like to submit to the jury is how her inner monologue is so drastically different from her actions. usually, her inner monologue goes something like this: i'm such a badass, i can kill a man three times my size with my bare hands in under a minute (this is almsot a direct quote). and then, instead of killing the main antagonist, who is less than three times her size, often unarmed and alone with her, and is truly a vile human being that she DOES want to kill, she:
1. gets scared
2. does nothing
3. follows his directions like she actually born to do it
4. cries about it later
like in one scene, she actually had a knife hidden under her mattress but chose not to use it even though he was in her room alone with her, didn't know she had a knife, and didn't see her as a threat at that moment? OF ALL THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITIES TO SQUANDER, BABE. anyway, i like to think i would have stabbed way more people than her and i am ✨not✨ a mafia princess who has been groomed for murdering people since i was fourteen years old. color me disappointed in everything that occurred within these pages.

Okay, so I'm just starting this by saying I need book 2 like yesterday!!!! Haha, I got this as an ARC, and I am so happy and honoured to get to read this early. Thank you so much Montana
This book is frikken fantastic. These men have me squeeling, kicking my legs and getting whiplash all at the same time.
I love Cami. She is such a strong woman who literally has had the shittiest hand delt to her.
I loved every second of her interactions with Kaos, Kovu, Bishop, and Crew, and I can not wait to see where this series goes.
The world building in this book is absolutely wonderful, and I love that we don't just get the relationship side of things, but we also see the mafia side of things which can sometimes be overlooked but not in this!
And my god, that ending..... I am sitting here gobsmacked.
I loved every second of this book, and the moment I picked it up, I couldn't put it down!

This follows Camilla 18, who’s a mafia princess. 19 years ago her father signed her life away to a monster of a man. On the day she was to be handed over, her dad told her to run and she did. But his men left her battered and bruised in an alley and she fell right into the hands of the four princes of the underworld. The men who control the criminal organisations in the city and now her fate is in their hands.
I enjoyed this read and that cliffhanger. I swear I felt betrayed in my soul. I loved how strong and feisty Camilla was towards the men. The MMCs daddy Crew and his son Bishop alongside Kovu and Kaos are delicious. These men are possessive and their internal thoughts about Camilla just did it for me. I will say that the character-building was great but world-building would have liked a little more. I’m a visual reader so I can imagine locations and what characters look like but I wasn’t getting the full picture in this. Also will mention there was a bit of repetitiveness but it didn’t bother me and majority of the book Camilla is in their care, watched and fussed over. I’m looking forward to the next book so we can see movement with Camilla’s character outside of the walls and delve into more plot due to how this book ended. I enjoyed this read and the spice was delicious I know it’s going to be turned up in the next book.

I just searched for the OW’s name and skimmed quickly through the scenes.
There is no real OWD, however, the MMCs have shared women before, and it has been months since then. There is also mention of their dead ex, Bianca, who they thought they loved but didn’t, and she died because she betrayed them. The MMCs never actually loved the dead OW, and they are all in for the h once they meet.
In one of the other books, there is a flashback scene about the OW, but it focuses on the betrayal (she killed one of the MMCs dad and the H put a bullet through her head afterwards)

What a start to Montana's new series Syndicate of the Legion.
If you have read Montana before, you know she's amazing at dragging you in wanting more with fantastic world-building and character development!!
We met these guys briefly before in the Frost Industries series, and i was excited that they were getting their series.
This is a slow burn why choose mafia story with a load of twists and turns, possessive men, intense chemistry and the feeling that a war is coming, all over Cami the mafia Princess who was betrothed to a Boss but ended up in the hands of the Syndicate.
Oooohhh, the cliffhanger!!!
Runn to read this outstanding book

She runs, only to be left beaten in an alley by his men and hauled into the Syndicate of the Legion, where the four men who rule New York’s five families now hold her future in their hands.

She is unconscious, battered, and bruised, and somehow their first reaction is arousal. I also hated the repeated mention of her being newly 18, because it made the age gap feel even more predatory. Instead of trying to build a genuine connection with her that was not rooted in her physical attributes, the emphasis was on how naïve and young she was. This was pure insta-lust from the moment they saw her. She was literally battered and bruised, and yet they were immediately attracted to her = maybe even got off on that. The dialogue only got worse from there, especially with how often they brought up her being young and a virgin.
Kovu, who has always been known as someone who hates physical touch and likes to cause pain, suddenly made her the exception. With her, he just wanted to be around her, and his softer side came out. His gentle nature in those moments was surprising, but also inconsistent with what we knew of him. They already said “I love you.” Crew tried to control her birth control choices. They were fascinated with her virginity the entire time. This is not good. Then there is the assumption that Chaos betrayed her in the end. She slept with Bishop first, but Kovu wanted to be the first.
What I disliked most was that they were more interested in her because she had never been with anyone. They literally said word for word that they could mold her into the type of woman they needed for themselves from the very start. They treated her as if she were a project or an idea of perfection, talking amongst themselves about how she could be a right fit for them instead of actually talking to her.

Oh. my. god. It’s been a few months since I haven’t been able to put a book down, and this was the one that did it for me! A dark, why choose, enemies to lovers, morally grey MMC’s, mafia romance?! I devoured every single word and I love every single character so much it breaks my heart knowing they are fictional. I CANNOT WAIT for the rest of this series

Why isn't this book series more popular? Deserves it!
It was interesting from first page to the last. I love how Bishop and Kovu were obsessed with Camille from the first sight. Daddy Crew? Little later, but he's the best with his bossy attitude.
And Kaos? No, he isn't obsessed from the first sight. Actually he hates her. But that doesn't stops me from loving him.
I wonder how their relationship will develop further. I'm ready for book 2!

I have been dying for The Syndicate of Legion’s story!
This is Book One of a four book series.
Crew, Bishop, Kaos, and Kovu make up the Legion.
Crew is Bishop’s dad and adopted father of Kovu. Kaos is Bishop’s cousin. These men run the underworld of New York and have found themselves in a precarious situation when the princess of one of the families is at their door step close to death.
Bishop and Kovu are obsessed immediately. Crew and all his Daddy vibes is cautious, while Kaos is straight hostile.
Camilla is the princess, now set to be the queen if she can stay alive. She’s strong yet sweet. I absolutely love her character.
The spice is hot but minimal in book one, though the thoughts the guys have are anything but proper.
This ends on an awful cliffhanger and someone is definitely going to have some groveling to do.

This book is truly amazing! The dynamic between the four men had me squealing and feeling whiplash all at once. I absolutely loved Camilla—she’s fierce, independent, and yet gentle. Despite her terrible upbringing, she remains a pillar of strength. Her interactions with all four guys were captivating, and I can’t wait to see where their relationships go.
Montana’s writing is exceptional. The way the story slowly builds is exactly how I love to read books, especially mafia romances. And that cliffhanger? I’m speechless and eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Do yourself a favor and read this book when it’s released. You won’t regret it!

Very slow burn, cringey pet names, too much yearning not enough plot (never thought I’d say that LOL) BUT the last 3 chapters the plot was plotting and the cliff hanger was twisty enough to make me read book 2 so like wouldn’t recommend reading but I will be continuing the series so do with that what you will 🤣

I loved seeing their relationships grow over time and how much of a badass FMC Camilla I'd. She is a true mafia princess.

Another fantastic read by Montana!! She just doesn’t miss!!
Camilla is the only daughter and heir of the De Marco Mafia family. On her 18th Birthday her father informs her she must marry a man he promised her to before she was born… or run.
While fighting for her independence she is found by the Legion, Crew, Bishop, Kovu, and Kaos. They take Camilla in and help her get back on her feet. While Cami is staying with the Legion they all start to become infatuated by her while trying to hide the fact that they have her from the rest of the New York Underworld.
The tension between Camilla and the boys is off the charts and the spicy, all though minimal, burns hot!
I absolutely love the characters in this book. Camilla is so strong and bad ass but yet has this sweet sensitive side we occasionally get to see. And the boys all though sooo similar are soo different and bring everything you could ever ask for in an underworld book boyfriend!! I can’t wait to see how they all evolve throughout the rest of the series.
Like all of Montana’s books, I highly recommend!!

This just didn’t do much for me. It’s not a bad book it just misses the mark. There wasn’t anything for me to connect to these characters as everything was very surface level. I feel we never really even learn much about the FMC.. their interactions are very short and it’s mostly inner dialogue. Which you would think would connect you to the characters but somehow it fell flat.
Also I hate insta love but that is not why I rated it the way I did because many people do. I also cannot at all get past in the harem there’s a father and son and the FMc is 18… just felt icky to me

My First Why Choose Romance!
In The Shadows was my introduction to the why choose/reverse harem world, and it was definitely an interesting experience!
Going into this, I wasn't sure what to expect from a why choose romance, but Montana Fyre made it easy to dive in. The dynamic between the main character and her love interests had some genuinely compelling moments, and I appreciated how the author navigated the complexities of multiple relationships.
What I enjoyed:
- The premise was intriguing and kept me curious
- Some steamy scenes that delivered on the heat (solid 3/5 spice level - enough to keep things interesting without being overwhelming)
- The shadow/darker elements added nice atmospheric tension
- A good entry point for someone new to why choose
What held it back:
- Character development felt uneven at times - some love interests were more fleshed out than others
- Pacing dragged in the middle
- I wanted MORE depth in the emotional connections between characters
- Some plot points felt rushed or underdeveloped
Overall:As my first why choose romance, this was a decent introduction to the trope. It had its moments and kept me entertained, but it didn't blow me away. I'd be willing to try more from this author or explore other why choose books to see if the trope grows on me.

I hardly read any 2+ love interest books but these characters ohh my god i was hooked to them in Tommy's book and i just wanted to read about them so i am greatful i got the eARC and read this masterpiece.
Cami is in deep shit and she just landed on someone's front door and guess who it is Bishop saw her first and then she got treated and after sometime the spicy scenes came and holyyy hell those were ooooffffff why i never read those books with many characters fucckkk i need to read those.
Back to the book this ends on a cliffhanger and i can't wait to read the next ❤️❤️

I absolutely loved this story about Mafia heir Camilla. unbeknownst to her, she was offered to an older man once she came of age. Luckily her father realises his mistake and encourages her to get away. The St educate of the Legion to d a battered, best up girl and decide to look after her. Little do they know who she is. Hot read.

The book was short, but I really enjoyed how the POVs alternated between characters. Of course, it’s pure fiction, so I didn’t try to overanalyze or look for too much logic in it 😀. Overall, it was a decent read light, quick, and perfect for passing the time. I’ll definitely be picking up the next book
