I am so screwed up! I get drunk as can be and before I know it, I’m about to go to a hotel room with two guys at the same time. I don’t want to but I’m too drunk to form words! And then, a perfect man rescues me. He’s sexy and mysterious and dark. He gets me away from the others. He takes me to his hotel but not to take advantage of me. He’s like a knight in shining armor for me. It’s a whirlwind night, a perfect night. Of course, in the morning I’m sober. When I get out of the shower, I discover it’s my ex-boyfriend! FML! What’s going to happen now? Do I give him a second chance? Actually… I guess I’m the one who needs a second chance. Will I get it?

I loved Mafia's Second Chance by Jess Winters. This is the first book in the Crimson Cartel Chronicles and I feel it is off to a great start. The plot was original, fun, exciting and sweet with wonderful characters that captured my attention right from the beginning. Jess made it easy to love both Enzo and Maria. They shared a seriously deep chemistry and were absolutely perfect for one another. I am super excited to read the next book. The only thing I don't like about this series is the fact there will only be three books.

After a night out of drinking Maria is rescued by Enzo from a couple of men who are trying to take advantage of her. He is her knight in shining armor, but leaves Maria shocked when she discovers it is her ex. Maria leaves without so much as a goodbye, but Enzo is having none of that. He is going to get Maria back no matter what it takes because these two were meant for each other. It is clear they are better together than they are apart and it doesn't hurt that Enzo and Maria are still very much attracted to one another. Will Enzo be able to convince Maria of this or send her into hiding?

This was an enjoyable and quick read. The characters were clear and the banter and dialog that they shared was not only free flowing, but natural and unforced. Of the two main characters, Enzo seemed to have a good, solid grasp on everything that was going on around him. Maria, not so much. She struck me as a bit flighty and Her logic didn't really make much sense to me.

I was drawn into the story enough by Winters that I found myself talking to the characters under my breath. In the really short books that's not easily done. It would be great to see what happened to them down the road. (hint)

In this book we meet Maria, & Enzo "Hank". Maria can't believe she is saved by the one older man she wants to be more but knows it can't be. When she wakes the next morning to find them still in the same room she knows just one thing run. Hank can't believe he is getting a second chance with the one woman he has wanted since she left him. Can these two find a HEA or will others stand in their way?

Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

4.5 stars of Jess Winters awesomeness

I believe the author has delivered another fantastic read with Enzo & Maria's story. A night of drinking has her nearly end up in a position that she didn't want but she is rescued before anything can happen. Finding out her rescuer is her ex, is this the universe saying this is their second chance?.

She thought she was doing the right thing when she broke things off with him, however everything just seemed to fall apart once she did. She didn't know how much she needed him in her life. He was in the right place at the right time and he wasn't letting her go this time. I would love to see what the future holds for them.

It was charming. Mafia Ex boyfriend hero. The characters were spicy. I do wish that the book was longer and the story built up more and there was more of an introduction into the characters and the story itself. But it was steamy short story. I do enjoy this author very much!!!

I loved the new short story of Mafia's Second Chance. This story had me sitting still it had my attention when you read about Enzo Protected Maria of her silly behaviour, I think they had an unfinished relationship.

Protection from Herself

This is a second chance for Enzo and Maria after he saves her from a compromising encounter. These two have a deep connection that is full of heat and great emotion. Changes will need to be to her behavior and Enzo is just the person who can help her in this fun filled read.

Maria broke up with Enzo 1.5 years ago when he became an underboss for the Crimson Cartel. She gets drunk and in trouble, but Enzo save her. He takes control of her life and gets her back on track.

It was interesting to see if Maria and Enzo end up back together romantically.

I’m sorry I’m not really sure what I just read. There was no lead up to the story, there’s no introduction to these characters and it’s all just confusing. I don’t think I’ll continue with this series.

Fast paced with a good story

This novella moves quickly from a girl making bad decisions, to waking up naked with a stranger. The story does get better for her, it's a quick and healthy run to the happy ending!

Enzo saves Maria from a bad situation giving him a second chance to be in her life. It’s not like they didn’t have strong feelings for each other, Maria just couldn’t handle Enzo’s line of work. Can Enzo get Maria‘s life back on track and build a future with her?
