Sarah doesn’t trust orcs. The relocation of her highland village to the underland is a choice she would not have made - not that anyone asks for her opinion. Despite being the infamous Talker of Firehead Hill, she is the very last person that should be in charge.

She is a fool.

When Coal’s wee wife goes with her village as they move to the orc capital for the winter, he doesn’t hesitate to follow. He doesn’t expect to like what he finds there as much as he does. Safety, innovation, and the chance for his growing family to heal.

He is an outsider.

Killian is a stammering wreck of an unmated orc blacksmith. From the moment the humans trek into the capital, he can’t stop dreaming of the smiling mother and her big husband.

He is an orc.

“Humans only mate in pairs.”

What happens when they break the rules?

When an impossible mark is made on green skin, is it meant to be?

Or has there been an ill-fated mistake?

How long can a fool, an outsider, and an orc keep a secret?

"Bladebound Killian" is the second book in a series. While it can be read alone, there are interconnected plot points and reoccurring characters that resonate better when the books are read in order.
This is an MMF romance.

I honestly didn’t expect this would work. I’m glad that it did. I love that the author didn’t leave out how the FMC was feeling about her husband being mated to an orc. If that were me, of course I’d be devastated and make assumptions about my worth. The way that they reassured her was beautiful.

omg!!!

I loved this book so much. From the beginning I was a little anxious about how this relationship was going to form… I was surprised.. but also it feels kinda perfect. I love Coal’s soft Dom and pleasure Dom vibes. I love how they all fit together. I actually love Sara.. now, I am not quite the talker she is but I am a rambler. I also have a twin that was the outgoing one everyone likes so her character hits close to home for me. I’m also a soft marshmallow that doesn’t want to cause waves cuz trauma and a people pleaser .. it’s like the author wrote me as an mc 😂 adored this read and I CAN NOT wait for the next book. 🥰

I had to leave a review in defense of Sarah as the Author’s Notes mentions that they are aware of readers who dislike her. While Sarah had moments that frustrated me (girl, open your eyes!) I found her so sweet and loving. She clearly was suffering from insecurities and trying to bottle it up inside, and I can’t hate her for that.

I will say I felt the development between Coal and her was a bit better than Killian’s introduction to their family. I enjoyed him as a character, and I do know their lack of common language reasonably added to it, but it felt like those scenes were skimmed over while we got so much detail into Coal and Sarah up front.

But still, such a fun universe to read and I absolutely cannot wait for Gyda’s book next!

I almost loved this book. Almost.

It felt like there were far too many chapters about Sarah and her trauma, and it felt particularly like Coal and Killian's struggles were shunted to the side in favour for her POV and in some instances, it did feel (to me at least) like Killian was the third wheel in some regard.

Otherwise, the world building and writing style are utterly divine and I can't wait to see who's next!

I loved the first book Ean, and I loved Killian just as much. Sarah the FMC is someone I really resonated with. She’s had a lot of trauma, and everyone around her constantly puts her down for being “too much”, too loud, too talkative. I’ve been called similarly my whole life. Sarah blossoms when she is properly loved!! I think that speaks volumes.

The spice is FIRE 🔥!
The relationship building is spectacular
And Coal is so freaking hot as a pleasure Dom!
Look at me, praising a HUMAN MAN? 😵‍💫😵‍💫

5 stars, all day long! Enjoy!

This book took a turn from its predecessor but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It felt more focused on the characters emotions, difficulties and lives than the last one, although there were still good smut scenes throughout. (Although it should be noted that they were vastly less graphic and public than the scenes in the previous book.)

The dynamic between Killian, Sarah and Coal changed throughout the book as the story progressed and their own insecurities and then confidence came out. It showed the difficulty that can come with there being three people in a relationship, showed the thought process behind the emotions and showed how these built and lingered until they were unavoidable. However, it also showed the positives, the love, the kindness, the support they had for each other. I liked that they ended up with an equal dynamic where no one pairing was more important than another. I genuinely really liked all of the characters and how they fit together. Sarah was soft, insecure and kind but was strong in her own way, it was nice to see a fmc in a book like this not be a warrior and to not be penalised for that. Coal's backstory was tragic and explained so much of his behaviour but I liked how much he opened up and talked once he had the capability to do so. Killian was smart and again, did not follow the status quo but was so sweet and caring.

I really enjoyed the pace of this book, it didn't rush the story or their coupling and actually built up to it in a natural way. I felt like it suited the characters involved, with Killian being shy, Sarah being insecure and Coal struggling to communicate well. Although the story focused on their triad, there were also hints and plotlines involving those around them and who will likely end up having their own books.

This book just sucked me in and let me feel alongside the characters, really well done.

I could barely put this down

This triad was a breath of fresh air in the storm of warrior mate books. Ean kept popping up on my recommended reads, but I was so inundated with fighters I kept putting it off. When it was free the other day for the SYK event, I still wasn't interested UNTIL I read the description for Killian. I downloaded this book immediately and definitely spent more time not sleeping and secretly reading at work than I should have to get through it. I LOVE this book. None of the triad are warriors, but their strength of spirit and heart poured off the page almost palpably.

Even though I know they're not going to be the same, I'm going to have to read Ean now. I can only hope that after Gyda we'll get to experience the softer side of the bladebound Orcs again!

Complex characters but we don't see them interact as much as we get monologues. Some of that is due to communication issues, some is due to the goblin/ogre winter wars, some is due to just stubbornness because of past traumas on all 3 of their parts. I liked that Sarah wasn't a warrior queen. Not everyone is. Coal was strong and stalwart but not a fighter. Killian was a blacksmith, again strong, but not a fighter. The author shows a lot of ability by creating new characters instead of recycling them again and again just with new names. This world is complex, the characters interesting, and if you ignore the steam, tackles some heavy subjects. I have only 1 complaint, outside the continuing editing errors, consent may be a big thing to orcs but that should include sobriety. Only a clear, uncoerced, enthusiastic, and *sober* yes is a yes. These drunken scenes are in no way consenting. And is part of the reason for lower stars...along with the aforementioned editing oopsies.
Btw: Sigrid may be given a redemption arc but she has a loooooong way to go to make up for allowing her twin to be abused by family and then continuing the berating into adulthood even after the aunt had passed.
Another btw lol: if only a small chunk of the village is going back home to farm, but more people are being born and surviving the winter wars, how are they going to resupply for next winter? They're either going to have to set aside some land near the caverns and let their humans farm there to supplement, or pull in some other villages. Honestly, to avoid inbreeding, because orc numbers are low and the Firehead village is all cousins, they really need to pull in other humans anyway. Unless our green babies learn to play banjos or think webbed toes are endearing.

Killian, Sarah, and Coal’s book really showed that Becca knows how to write an FMC that doesn’t need to be aggressive or strong in traditional ways.

Sarah is someone that just wants love, her family, and a safe life. I like that she was realistic with her insecurities. Her husband has never said “I love you,” and is then bladebound to an orc. The reader sees Coal’s POV and understands that he is entirely devoted to the ones he loves and that Sarah DEFINITELY falls into that category, but honestly her insecurities are so valid. This book relied heavily on miscommunication and the insecurities of all three main characters, but it did not feel unnecessary to me. But the miscommunication trope doesn’t bother me like it bothers some, so… 🤷‍♀️

This sequel to Ean definitely opened some doors in regards to further books. I’m looking forward to seeing Padraigh at some point. I have a feeling reading his POV will be interesting.

So good! LOVED Cole!!!

Complex story but in a different but equally good way as the first. The first in the series, Ean, did a lot of storytelling to set the stage for this ‘world’ and the interactions of the clans and the orcs and humans. This book’s storytelling uniquely wove the love stories of the current triad with the original backstory of the human couple. It made it very natural and as if at times, they were all falling in love simultaneously.

I loved Cole and his fierce determination to love and care for those that were important to him. I could identify with the anxiousness of Sarah and her love of being a good mother. And Killian seemed like a good compliment to both of them.

Can’t wait for the rest of this series.

This was fantastic! I loved it as much as Ean. I hate the miscommunication trope but the way Becca Saylor layered it with the oppressive dread of winter, deep seeded grief and bully and the language barrier made it totally palatable.

I still found myself rolling my eyes at Sarah a little bit, but it was immediately smoothed over when I remembered what she'd been through and how she'd been treated.

Also, Coal is the hottest man alive? I don't make the rules, that's just the way it is.

Magic orc cum *chef kiss* once again.

I do wish we had a bit more Killian than we got, more of his internal growth and relationships outside of Sarah and Coal. I still loved it a lot.

I had no business loving this as much as I did. This book nearly gave me a heart attack in parts. Killian is such a shy sweet brilliant Orc. Coal is just a big burly quiet cinnamon roll and I LOVED him. I was worried after the Epilogue of the first book that I wouldn’t like Sarah, but that was not the case. She was relatable in her anxiety induced inner monologues and she put voice to many women’s fears in marriage. I found this book more relatable and the MMCs perfectly delicious. These books are just sweet spicy Orc filled fun!

Imma' say it again: if you read an orc book this year, let it be this one. This sequel might even be better than the first. Story? Oh my god, check. The characters? So interesting, check. The details that all stack, exceptional. What? YES. It's all worth it.

I cannot wait for the next book. This is a series to geek over and be excited about, the writing vocabulary is chef's kiss and the mannerisms are top tier writing. I cannot wait for the next one. Can't wait. Nope. Can't do it. Need it. Ahhuh.

Sarah, Coal, and Killian

This is a very good, well written, ménage, Humans and
Orc romance. The characters are well developed and the location continues from previous story in this series. Sarah was married to Coal a stranger in her village and they are well matched. After finding out some truths about the Orcs and their home down under, the village agrees to move there. Killian sees them and wants to know them better. He helps with their twins. Read and enjoy more about their story.

A phenomenal addition to the series

I was stoked when I saw this because I enjoyed the first book in the series. I was unprepared, however, for the fact that I would LOVE Killian so much. I literally could not put it down. The angst and the spice were ✨chef’s kiss✨. Between that and the continued world building by the author, I couldn’t ask for more. If you like alllll the spice, monster romance, and angst, you need this in your life!

Another winner

Love love love this series! It is the perfect amount of angsty, sexy, emotional, and intriguing. I appreciated that this book illustrated how people handle trauma differently. I also loved how the Highlander pride affected different characters. Becca Saylor navigates human emotions with a deftness, poignancy, and understanding that is difficult to find. I will forever be a fan of hers after reading this series.

LOVED

I have loved loved loved both books of this series! I will admit Sarah’s character was a whiplash from Fiona’s, both with opposite personalities but I’ve fallen in love with both of them. Sarah is such a sweetheart, Coal is drool worthy and Killian is a
perfect balance between them. I hope Sigrid gets more of a verbal beating next book, she is a sorry excuse for a sister. Can’t wait for the next book!!!!

Great read

Alright this is my second time reading this author and I’m not going to lie I actually love this book. The characters are so good Killian, Coal, and Sarah. I really love the storyline and I felt so much for Sarah she really had a sucky aunt who torn down her self esteem. I’m so glad that Coal and Killian was there for her and let her know she was loved. Great story and I can’t wait for the next one

Orc Life

I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it highly. It offers a continued view of orc and highlanders trying to survive. It reminded me of the Clan of the Cave Bear. You will be drawn to the survival of this grouping and the love they learn to share. Coal's question, "Are you whole wee wife?" is the sexiest sentence ever written.

Oh man, I absolutely loved this book! I laughed, I cried, I stayed up late into the night reading this book. I enjoyed this book a little more than the last. There was more details and world building, we got to know more characters better. And it was overall really good for a spicy book! I love a good sexy book with a great storyline to go with. I really can't wait to read more about the other characters and what happens with the orcs and humans.

Love Coal and Killian

This was a great sequel, and I loved seeing how the humans integrated into orcish life at the capital. Coal was my favorite character. I hated Sigrid, I hope she doesn't get a book because I don't know that I could have any sympathy for her behavior towards her sister. That girl needs serious therapy.

*currently in my orc era*

This series is SO good. I need all the characters.

Was nervous for Sarah’s story because didn’t get the best vibe from her in the epilogue of the first book…but holy hell was her character so damn relatable.

Loved the MMC’s

Wishing I could reread this series for the first time again.

Loved It!

I really liked the first one and I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Sarah's story, but it was really well done! I liked the story and it had great spicey scenes. I liked that we saw more of the orcs daily lives in this book. It kinda reminded me of Finley Fenn's Orc Sworn series.

This is a pretty cute story, but I was a bit annoyed with all of the miscommunication and the female main character was annoyingly anxious. Way too much "wee" going on.

Also I don't have a breeding kink, so that was kinda ick to me.

Still love this series. Never read a book where the FMC already had a husband, but I love how they both got an orc. The emotional turmoil of the FMC was wild and I understood it 100%. Need more of these orcs!!

This story was pot of nonsense. It was like 300 pages too long and every character was insufferable to the nth degree. Also that fact that Sarah didn’t cuss out her twin is BEYOND ME. Also a relationship with limited communication can never be love. 🤷🏾‍♀️
