Witchbound series

The author has created a viable and interesting supernatural world that exists along side humanity of Beings. They are the traditional vampire and Shapeshifters., etc. She’s also created in-depth lead character, Strawberry.( the name is a little much!), and Eris, Queen of the vampires. Their romance is exciting and intense. The difficulty that I have with both novels is the writing. The author attempts to be poetic and lyrical but is extremely repetitive. You can read two pages of a discussion and nothing is actually being said. Everything is rumination in the characters minds that is repetitive and becomes stagnant. I’m sure that there is a really good plot in there because the setting is there, but you can read page after page with just nothing but discussing feelings and emotions and and if I read about Eris’ cold heart façade, and blue, icy stare one more time, I thought I would scream.

I would just skip through lots of verbiage, not missing anything because it’s already all been said, until I got to actually something happening. I think if the writer could change her style to not having the characters be so very supratentorial with more doing and actual dialogue and less thinking, then this could turn out to be a good series. I REALLY want to know what happens but I just can’t get through the repetitive internal dialogue.

it was okay

While I did enjoy the characters and I think the series is a nice read I can say I wasn’t the biggest fan. Maybe others will disagree but the writing style had me confused for most of the story. The characters are always repeating the same lines over and over again, with most of the same lines just written differently. While there is a good amount of 🌶️🌶️ there is basically no real story to the books. This book was all about eris and strawberry’s pinning for each other. There was maybe only 2-5 pages of actual story where you got to meet the thing that was threatening their world which is what the story was suppose to be about based off the description. Strawberry never proves herself or does anything really, for a witch she seemed pretty useless unless she was working at the vet or messing something up. She spent two books trying to hone her powers and prove herself just for you to never see any results. The story jumped around so much that you get lost and are left with unanswered questions and at the end there is no resolution to anything just more questions…. I enjoyed the characters and I think that the story is a nice read if you have nothing else to read but that’s all there is to it.

It was okay

Better than the first book. I like this story. Just seems surprising that for a witch, Strawberry almost doesn’t use magic. There are repeating conventions and sentences in here again in the first 50% of the book. The amount of times Eris says “Strawberry” was quite annoying. A bit confusing. The other part of the book is a lot better. Seems like the flow was going good. I wish there were more explanations about what was happening around main characters also, like what was The Evil, what happens exactly to Witch Council, Strawberry’s covens story.
I still can say if you want something to read this book is good as any. Like I said before I quite like the story. Plus there is 🌶️ in here.

Cover is great!

What a story 😍

Crazy about this gripping, intense rollercoaster love story. Both books kept me on sutch an edge of anticipation from page to page. A 5🌟 for this epic brilliant novel, with steamy 🔥 encounters and a love that defies even the universe. Cant wait for more to come from the amazing, Sable.

"Strawberry" she breathes...
"Strawberry" she whispers...
"Strawberry"...
"Strawberry"...
"Eris"...

If they didn't spend half the book whispering each other's names (the above ratio is quite precise) they might have actually done something to beat the villain(s?)...

I'm not up to reading 2 more books (NYX's) to learn if the Evil will be actually shunned.

better than the first

I’m not sure if I’ve just gotten used to MS Cross’s writing style or if she’s settled more into the story but I like this book much better than the first. I will be seeking out Witchtryst to read Nyx’s story and continue the tale of the Evil.
