This is an excellent companion to the Four Foundations of Golf by the same author John Sherman. This a practical guide to playing a more grounded, consistent game of golf. I am a high handicap golfer and I found the insights and stories very beneficial. The author is the narrator and this adds a very conversational tone to this audiobook.
I'm a big fan of Jon Sherman and loved The Four Foundations. This one came up lacking for me. It's full of generic concepts about competitive golf and being prepared, but there's little substance or guidance for actually putting any of it into practice. This book would have been better by taking some concepts from business books (like Traction). Instead of the end of each chapter being bullet points of what you just read, make it some tools or drills to put what you read into action. If you've never played competitive golf or are a beginner, I'm certain you will get more out of it than I did. If you're a competitive golfer/athlete, it's still a decent read for some reminders, and if you find one thing in here that helps, it was well worth it.
Overall, it's a book I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys golf. This book puts you into a mindset before, during, and after your round. Very informative. It's one of the best reads I've had in a while.
Very informative read with plenty of things to take away, no matter what level of golfer you are, the first book lays the foundation, this book hones in on making it successful.
I am a golfer who is just beginning to play in tournaments and Foundations cleared up many of my misconceptions regarding stroke and match play. There is lots of useful information and I highly recommend the book.
Just not really what I was looking for. Was mainly just about keeping a positive mindset which I agree with but nothing really groundbreaking if you’re playing competitive golf
I listen to the podcast and follow Jon on all his socials. I found this book underwhelming - save your time - nothing close to life changing here. Feel a bit like this is a money grab to get from his following.
