When he is forced into an impossible position, will he remain faithful to the streets or commit to one that might be able to give him the world?
Ireisi Jackson doesn’t bother anyone and lives her life like a fly on the wall. Just because you’re a fly on the wall doesn't mean the buzzing of your wings won’t be loud. When her family betrays her in the worst way, she’s forced to endure a new life that she never wanted or asked for.
They say a man will sell his soul for money. Well, apparently their daughters too.
Will a forced contract be the end of two lives forcefully smashed together, or will it bring those lives together to turn a mess into a blessing? Only time, tolerance, and patience would be able to tell. Find out if Alister and Ireisi will be able to agree to the Terms of Love.

She has always had a love for books beginning with the Baby Sitter’s Club, R.L. Stine, and Christopher Pike. She dabbled in writing as she grew up but never took it as seriously as she should have.
Mel Dau graduated from from Wando High School, then later matriculated to Benedict College (BSW) and Webster University (MHRM). She is a mother of a teenage daughter, a HR Professional, and a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

In March of 2018, she decided to finally come from behind the wall and submit a short story which resulted in her first Book, Khiaere and Phy: A Charleston Love Story being published under Queens of Lit Presents. Under Queens of Lit Presents, she successfully published 15 titles that were all debuted in the top fifty on Amazon Top 100.

Her overall desire is to use her fiction catalog to help change at least one person’s non-fiction reality.
One thing Mel Dau gon’ do is give us a book with some ain’t shyt parents and Terms of Love was no exception. She even threw in an ain’t shyt sibling for a lil razzle dazzle. Ree left Leakston, MS the day after her high school graduation and sis never looked back. 10 years later, she has a thriving career as an 8th grade teacher and she’s living her best life drama free. That is until she gets a call from her daddy, who she hasn’t seen or spoken to in over 10 years, summoning her home for a family emergency. Unbeknownst to Ree, her dad and brother have volunteered her as tribute to save the family homestead. Alistair lives a life of privilege and comfort. He’s the heir apparent to the Duston dynasty so, he doesn’t take life seriously because, well, he doesn’t have to. He just wants to work his ranch and get his d*ck wet every chance he gets. Daddy Duston thinks it’s time for him to settle down and start havin’ some babies so, he comes up with the brilliant idea of an arranged marriage. When two strong willed individuals with equally alpha personalities are forced into a situation neither of them wants, what could possibly go wrong? Terms of Love is taking “I need you to do me a favor” to a whole nutha level. LOL!
I enjoyed this book. It was nicely written and entertaining. Arranged marriage and I love how there was no instant attraction. They both held their ground and crumbled when ready. Lovely story.
It's a different story. I am really enjoying this author's writing progression. I liked it and enjoyed this story from page one to the very last page. 4.85 stars...
Oh, I enjoyed this one. That darn Alistair and Ree were meant for each other. Loved all the supporting characters, except for the few dumb ones. Good read.
Loved it except I felt the whole "hating" each other scenes were too long therefore delaying so many things that the last chapters and the ending felt rushed. Too many details were fit into a short time frame so to be speak also the typing errors but one can overlook that.
I just want to start by saying that this author wrote one of my favorite books. I do like the idea of the book however, I feel like I wanted more romance in this book. I did not like the fact that the FMC weight was a point of conversation all of time. The other storylines with Ree ex wife was wild. I really wanted to like this book. I just wanted to read about the couples fall in love after they go over hating each other.
I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end. It was a unique twist on an arranged marriage trope and the author executed it well. The banter and chemistry between Alistair and Ireisi was cute. It was unfortunate how they came to be, but as the theme of the book has been saying about their union, God makes no mistakes. From their union, they brought together other members of their family to forgive and repair their relationships and Ireisi gained a best friend out of the situation. Once these two fell in love, I loved how Alistair was all about his wife and how he protected her. Him changing his ways gave her the safe space to fall in love as well. As for Gary, DJ, Shakara and Ireisi’s mother, I can’t feel bad for the karma they received. All in all, this was a good read that I would recommend.
I wish I could write long beautiful and detailed reviews to express just how good Terms of Love is! However if you love Mel Dau’s books, you already know how she’s coming! Alister is a piece of work when we first meet him, and he don’t care what you think . He is fine, paid, and the women of Leakston are at his disposal. Ireisi has left Leakston behind and living her life her way. When the two of them are forced by their families to marry, honey no one is safe from the petty and drama that unfolds . I love a good Arranged Marriage story and this one here checks all the good book boxes!! This is one of those you will read again so you experience the emotions all over !
I love a good marriage of convenience trope. Alistair was definitely an MMC that I couldn't help but like...even in his a-hole phase. If there was one thing you could say about Alistair, it was that he had no filter and definitely wasn't leading anyone on. A girl told him he was toxic and he pretty much told her that made her irresponsible in her decision making...I. WAS. WEAK! She turned out not to be the brightest crayon in the box or the sharpest tool in the toolshed...so, he wasn't wrong there.
Just as vicious as Alistair was with his words Ireisi gave him a run for his money. Ireisi left town immediately after their high school graduation and the quiet and timid girl she used to be was long gone when she returned to help her father and brother out of their mess. Something that Alistair hadn't really expected. He was so used to women jumping when he said jump. Ireisi's sharp tongue and strong will had him a little shook. He found himself becoming the chaser instead of the chasee. And I loved it!
Before I wrap this up I would just like to put out there that Ireisi's father, mother, and brother were selfish individuals who only cared about how that girl could be used to benefit them. Her father did eventually try to get himself together but just on GP they could all kick rocks barefoot after stepping on some Legos. IJS.
Good book. The characters were likable and no 3rd act breakup or cheating. I love that they a knowledges the FMC is plus size with out making it her personality trait or her super insecure. She was very smart and confident.
“We are trained to love our family no matter how they treat us. That way of thinking is toxic and hurtful. You have the right to pull your love back from people who don’t deserve it.”
This one was a bit difficult to get into for me. I initially liked the female lead character, she was intelligent, witty, and held her own with Alastair. Her brother DJ and father were horrible. Alastair in my opinion wasn’t likable at all and there’s no way he would have gotten 3 feet from me! Kora was a gem. Glad the female lead was able to gain “sisters” in her in-laws and exes ex wife.
Alastair was a foul-mouthed, f-boy in a grown man body. He was being rude and disrespectful. I guess I’m just not a fan of the lead man calling the female lead a B! in regular conversation like it ain’t nothing. And all the talk about his D to any and everybody, including his dad (eww) was just not appealing at all. So, it’s a no for me!
I really disliked Alistair’s way of speaking at the start, he was rude and kept calling Ireisi names. Glad they got their happy ending and glad he started treating her right (you do not have to be romantically involved with a woman to be respectful). Gary was trifling😂 and so was the woman Alistair regularly liked dealing with. I liked the found family they found between each other and how they all had each others backs.
I laughed way more than I expected while reading 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞. The funny / witty banter and the "enemies" aspect of Alistair and Ireisi's relationship made their interactions so funny and enjoyable. I loved how these two, in spite of their past, and their aversion to commitment and marriage, were still able to find love and friendship with each other as the story progressed.
My very favorite part of the story was the found family aspect. Ireisi grew up with an absent mother, a terrible father, and a brother who gave and took his love away at will. She never got to experience familial love and support and seeing her friendship with Rochelle, her relationship with Alistair's sisters Clarissa and Cara, and even her maternal relationship with Kora and her paternal relationship with Ced, just warmed my heart. After all of these years, Ireisi deserved nothing less.
Though I enjoyed the secondary plots and learning more about the secondary characters (i.e. Rochelle and Garry's storyline; Alton's relationship with his daughters), I really wish there was more of a focus on the main characters. Their love story was beautiful but I felt like I did not get enough of that and it took a little bit away from the story for me.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I laughed so much and I was so happy to see these two finally find love. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a funny story that has a hot cowboy, tons of family drama, and an overall beautiful love story.

When I read, I sometimes read a physical/E-copy of the book and listen to the audiobook at the same time. If I have nothing I am doing, I read the story through an E-Book or a physical copy. If, while reading, I have chores or an errand to run, I turn on the audio version and continue the story that way. This is how I read 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞. I was excited to purchase the audio version because my favorite narrator Weisleigh Siobhan was reading the part of Ireisi. She did an excellent job bringing the character to life and I LOVED her rendition of the story. The male narrator was, however, new to me. Though his parts were ok, I did feel like he took away from the story a bit and at some point, I had to stop listening to the story and decided to just read the physical version that I had. He did do a good job and I am sure some people may enjoy his rendition, but I have to be honest, he was not for me.
Talk about being burdened with a dysfunctional family. Iresi had a bitter gambling drunk for a father, an addict for a brother and a mother that was in the wind since she was young. She decided she could do better by herself and left their small town city to do life on her own. Until she gets an emergency call from her father.
How can a father and son co-conspire to use and deceive their own daughter and sister? As long as the agreement benefited them, she didn’t matter. They struck a deal with the towns most prominent family and all they needed was the buy in of the two parties who were responsible for executing the agreement.
The road to the agreement was shady as hell. Ireisi didn’t know she was getting served up like a cooked hog with the apple in its mouth. Alastair just wanted to live life on his terms - rich, fine, and f***ing anyone and anytime he wanted. A wife wasn’t gonna deter him from continuing. She didn’t think she would really have to do it, but found out there’s no way out. Now she’s stuck with the towns resident d*** slinger for a husband and he’s stuck with a woman meaner than a snake for a wife.
“… God don’t make no mistakes! For whatever reason, He wanted both of you right here, right now. Now you two can be miserable or find the beauty in this mess.”
I enjoyed reading this story. Ireisi gave him hell until he finally gave up his ways, made an effort and then she responded in kind. I loved their back and forth banter. That Gary was the king cobra of snakes, and that Shakarra was a 360 degree heaux! The mama and the brother - the audacity but I know they weren’t in their right minds.
They adhered to the terms and the payoff was love.
Mel Dau always comes with the interesting storylines. In this book, the FMC and MMC are forced by their parents into an arranged marriage. The interesting thing about this arranged marriage is that it was sprung on the FMC and MMC at a business meeting. And FMC wasn't even in touch with her family. So basically, they pull her out of her life and tell her they need her to marry MMC to save the family's property. (Can't remember if this was explained sufficiently. I think I just accepted it for the sake of the story). How the parents talked these two into signing the agreement is beyond me. It was def discussed but not really. They went from hell no to ok mighty fast! Couldn't be me.
Anyways, once we get past that part a lot of good storytelling takes places and Mel Dau peels back the onion of their lives. So much happened, and everything got resolved in the end. Would recommend.
God makes no mistakes. That phrase from Kora just about sums up the Rollercoaster ride from hell to the best happily ever after that Alistair and Ireisi would experience.
One of my favorite tropes is enemies to lovers. But Alistair and Ireisi took it to a whole other level. But somewhere along the way, the curtains lifted, the sun came out, and people caught feelings. Love can be a powerful emotion. And when this couple gave in to it, there was no stopping that runaway train. There were many grab you by the throat moments in this book. Mel Dau is a master at storytelling! Just when you think you can't be shocked, you're reading a passage that leaves you shaking your head, thinking I didn't see that coming. From beginning to the end, this book delivered and checked off every book box. It's such an amazing read.
This was a highly entertaining book to read. I loved the arranged marriage storyline. The back and forth between Alistair and Ireisi had me laughing out so many times. I was glad when they decided to give their marriage a chance and ended falling in love with each another despite how the marriage began. Ree's family, along with her ex-fiance, Gary, were trash for what they put her through. I was glad that Ree was able to find a new family with Alistair's which she needed and deserved. Gary got what he deserved and I wasn't sorry at all. Great book with a lot of twists and turns that you couldn't predict what was going to happen next. Pick up your copy and I promise you won't be disappointed!!
Unconventional. Hilarious. Slightly Realistic. Captivating. Those are a few words I’d use to describe this one. Mel Dau never disappoints though. Ree and Alister were a match made in “I’m only here because my parents said so and don’t expect me to like you even though I kinda do” heaven. I was so happy when these two finally gave one another a chance, but it was funny to waiting for it happen. The situation with Ree, Rochelle, and Gary was sad and comical at the same time. Seriously, talk about a wild turn of events. Al’s sisters were also a nice small addition. Deron getting himself together was long overdue, and I hate that DJ and their mom didn’t get the same fate. I wouldn’t mind more from this family!
Deron signed up Iresisi with a marriage contract that she didn't want, so they wouldn't lose their land. Alistair wasn't with neither but he knew his father was a business man. That meant he would have quit sling it. The women Leakston will jealous and bitter because they weren't Mrs. Duston. Especially that Shakara that what she going for. She got with Gary for that. Alistair had to show Ree she wasn't his only one. That's how Ree and Rochelle became friends. Once they had that sexual contact it was on. His sisters came home and they talked out with their father. Deron got cleaned and asked Ree for forgiveness and thanked Alistair for taking care of Ree and loving her.
Okay let me get this off my chest. This was probably one of the most unbelievable stories I have read recently. I’m going to give the rest of my opinion ignoring that part. Alistair would have had to get slapped at least once the way he was coming out his mouth to Ireisi. And one of the men in that room should have made it happen. That first scene with them made me never get to the point of fully forgiving him. Ireisi is big DELULU for even trusting her dad and brother to get the money. If they couldn’t ghet it before, WHY would she think they could /would get it now. The way her dad gaslit her was so trifflin. You done offered up my womb to pay off a debt and you want me to feel bad or responsible for it??? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
This was a really funny read. Imagine not having a relationship with your family and they need a favor from you! How and why? I don’t even talk to y’all but what you see is a handsome and rude fool Alistair (Al) ❤️, he was soo rude and I love him. Ireisi was rude too and had her reasons but she never ever imagine how doing a favor for her family would be the best thing ever. I love how they both figured it out for themselves and made it work for the best….i will be reading this again because it had me laughing a lot . Please read it and review it. Great job Mel Dau!
