Falling for Beau Palmer would be the ultimate crime

Wild horses couldn’t drag me back to the small island where I grew up, but you know what can? Making sure the Palmer family—aka the worst neighbors ever—show appropriate respect to the newest resident of their retirement center: my grandma.

But as soon as Grams moves in, her shenanigans put her at risk of being kicked out. Since she’s set on staying in Sunset Harbor until her last breath and there’s no way I’m staying on this nightmare island to take care of her, that’s not an option.

Enter Beau Palmer, the infuriatingly charming local cop who’s got the connections to keep Grams right where she needs to be and help me get out of Dodge sooner. But he's got a price, and it requires putting the Sawyer/Palmer drama firmly in the past.

But the drama isn’t behind us. In fact, it’s right in front of me, wearing a police badge and a smirk that’s really started disturbing my peace.

Gemma & Beau
Gemma is back in town for a week to help get her Gram’s house ready to put on the market while she settles into a retirement home. The very home that’s owned by the family’s enemy, The Palmers. She absolutely can not get involved with Beau Palmer, even if he is super helpful and looks pretty great in his cop uniform, and he has a cute pooch named Xena to boot.

Just when I think I have enough book boyfriends another gets added to the list. Y’all, Beau is so sweet. The way he interacts with people all the time, whether working or not, just shows what a great person he is. He’s trying to get promoted to full time, but keeps getting denied. In steps PR genius Gemma, who offers to help him and in turn he’ll help her with the heavy lifting at Gram's house. Perfect! She’ll be done and ready to head back home to LA in no time, or will she?

Grams sure is a feisty one 😂 I hope I’ll be cool like her when I’m her age. Sometimes you just need to take the old golf cart out for a spin for ice cream. Black raspberry chip or coffee for me, what about you?

Overall, super fun and super cute with super likable characters. I loved the whole birdhouse war and how it was incorporated at the end was just perfection.

Series notes:
The timeline is the same for each book meaning the characters from other books in the series are in the background, but haven’t necessarily had their story told yet. I like this way of doing things since it doesn’t make it absolutely necessary to read them in order, but it’ll be better if you do.

Narration notes:
She did a great job.

Another great read in the Falling For Summer series. Summer Tease was one of my faves so far. This is such a great series to read at the beach or by the pool.

I really liked the MMC. Beau was so sweet and protective. With his adorable sidekick dog, Xena, I was swooning all over the place.

AUDIOBOOK review:

I was lucky enough to listen to a copy of this and fell in love all over again with Sunset Harbor. Enemies-to-love is a favorite trope because of the electric friction and banter. Beau and Gemma have a background of hating each other’s families, but the pull they feel to connect, as next-door neighbors and with reasons to help each other out, is undeniable. The birdhouse had me laughing, as did many other things.

I’m not ready for summer to end and I’m not ready to let go of this gem of a series.

********************

“Baywatch Beau hoarding all the island power with not even half of the work of a normal cop. I’m not even convinced Sunset Harbor needs police. We could probably get by with a rent-a-cop.”

Beau and Gemma have a powerful enemies-to-love vibe going for them and I was all in for the snark, wit, and banter…not to mention the persuasive charms of the island’s part-time cop. While Gemma is aggressively bitter, dealing with the antics of her salty and spunky grandma isn’t easy and she finds herself falling in debt (and more) to Beau for his help in the situation. Beau, with his “annoyingly muscular body,” “freaking smile,” and can-do helpful nature is a hurricane force to be reckoned with and I don’t know who can resist him.

I love this series and every little snippet and cameo of beloved characters and I was pleasantly surprised to find a tie-in to Martha Keyes Sheppards in Love series. Could this possibly get any better?! I loved the canal swim, citizen’s arrest, boat and golf cart time, ice cream cones, Xena the chow-chow (K-5), sassy granny, and every chemistry-laden exchange. Told in first person, one POV, this book is a summer must-read.

I love a charming guy and Beau fit that bill to a T. I loved his demeanor and soft joy that he brought to the story. It contrasted well with Gemma and they had some great chemistry. There were a few truly standout scenes that I was hoping to get and they delivered.

The Grams plot line bugged me a little because I felt like it kept over shadowing the romantic aspects. I was tired of Gemma getting calls that Grams had caused some other kind of chaos and when the secrets came to light I was let down.

There’s good flirty banter, and like all of the other books in this series, I adore the summer vibes. I feel swept away to this island and love seeing different pieces of it in each book.

The will they? Won’t they? Family feud got me. Right in the feels!
The banter was REAL in this one y’all! So many great and swoony moments.

Beau was seriously the best!! I loved his character in the other books in the series, and loved him even more in his own story! His love for people, the island, and his job were just *chefs kiss* And of course Xena!

Gemma’s thawing was one of my favorite parts because it so well done! It felt realistic to the timeline of the book and the shared family history/feud. And when some old wounds were opened up she was able to separate blame from just being hurt.

Beau & Gemma really did work well together and I’m looking forward to seeing some small crossover cameos in the rest of the series!

I loved seeing the island come together to show their support and love for the Sawyer family after everything that happened all those years ago.

The ending was wrapped up really well and the epilogue was the cutest thing ever!
I’ll be running myself over to read the bonus scene Martha wrote from Beau’s perspective now! K. Thanks.

This is book four in the Falling for Summer multi-author series and it was a blast! One-sided enemies to more, a long time family fued, small town island antics, a sassy and spunky Grandma, all the feels, and so much fun banter make for one fantastic read.

Things I Loved:
-Grams 😂
-GG
-Jamie 🤣
-“‘Oh, and Grams? Please, for the love of all that’s good and beautiful, behave yourself until then.’ She cackles and hangs up.”
-Birdfeeder wars
-BB
-Citizen’s Arrest
-“Sure, Gemma. It’s Deedee in the driver’s seat in that friendship.”
-Trash Can Encounter
-Taps on the Window
-PR Presentation
-“Ask me the question.”
-“Don’t Stop Believing.”

You literally cannot help but adore Beau Palmer. He’s a golden retriever in all the best ways and I love how he won Gemma over. I also loved that in between the fun banter and reluctant falling, Beau helped Gemma heal and find herself home in a place that had understandably left her with major conflicted feelings.

These stories are interconnected while remaining standalone. The connections are so fun, it has me excited for every single book to come!

The first half of this was rough. Gemma was unlikeable and her grandma was even worse. I did not understand the weird family enemies part since it seemed completely one sided and besides a couple things that didn’t seem that bad, we weren’t given a ton of info. Beau was incredibly nice to her the entire time so I do not understand her prejudice against him just because of his last name, that was crazy town.
About half way it got better and Gemma became much more likeable. It ended cute with all the feels.
I never did like her grandma though, that lady was awful.

Summer Tease is the 4th book in the Falling For Summer series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. I freaking loved this one. From the start I knew it was going to be in my tops of this series. The banter was amazing, it had me chuckling all throughout the book, the sassy and crazy grandma, she was amazing and so hilarious.

Beau is such a swoony MC I freaking adored him. He's such a great person with a beautiful heart and soul. Gemma is just a strong FMC with a spunk you can't help but love. I loved how Beau was able to make her fall back in love with the town and heal her conflicting feelings. They were seriously the best together.

This was just such a fun and light summer read. It had me laughing and swooning up until the very end. Definitely one of my favorites in the series so far with Beauty And The Beach.

🎧 The narration by Ariel Royce was amazing. I really loved her voice and tone. She had the perfect spunk to make the banter hit just right and for the jokes to make you laugh. She did a good job at voicing Beau as well, very fun listen !

The first ten pages hooked me, I laughed so hard! Good thing I was alone or I would've gotten some strange looks from strangers LOL! I loved this book throughout! I laughed, I swooned, I gasped! So good!

Gemma and Beau caught hold of me and I stayed up way to late reading a lot of nights with this one. They had some great banter and I just loved Beau's happy personality. Gotta love a cinnamon roll who is also a protective hero. Their flirting is on point and has some great rivals to more vibes. Some wonderful one-liners. Gemma trying to hide her feelings was so fun to read and I loved how she finally came to realize her feelings.

I absolutely loved Virginia Sawyer in this one! Though she has appeared in some of the other books, she really shines in this book and I love her antics! The small appearances from the other side characters were so great at showcasing the character growth for Gemma. And of course, I enjoyed seeing the characters we had already been introduced to in the other books.

Loved the way Keyes' uses unpredictability in her plot, I really didn't see the twist coming though I knew something was going to happen, but I just didn't know what. She did a great job with the pacing of this one. I love her writing!!

I think I would have enjoyed this book more in its physical form rather than as an audiobook. I wasn’t a fan of the narrator so I wasn’t overly thrilled with the book, which was sad. I was looking forward to this book because you only got the FMC’s POV and sometimes that can make a story more enjoyable since you don’t know 100% what both characters are thinking. Sadly, it just wasn’t what I was hoping for.

Beau Palmer is 100% a Golden Retriever MMC with a K-5 Chow Chow named Xena. Rather odd, yes, but that’s just Sunset Harbor for you. He’s a part-time cop for the island (since they aren’t so sure they need a full-time one) who rides around in his police golf cart pulling over innocent Sawyers who happen to look like they’re driving recklessly. Gemma Sawyer was 100% innocent because it’s not her fault that Grams’ golf cart is a death trap waiting to happen with a propensity for going fast after Dax Miller souped it up. (What it really needed was a new engine, not more speed, but that’s beside the point)

Gemma Sawyer despises Sunset Harbor after having grown up with the eternal Sawyer vs. Palmer feud. Life was unfair and therefore Sunset Harbor does NOT hold fond memories for her. Now she’s back to help Grams get her house packed up and on the market, only to quickly find herself falling right back into the old Sawyer vs. Palmer debacle when Beau decides to pull her over. But, man oh man, has he ever had a glow up! Feelings, which she desperately tries to deny, begin to spring up. Meanwhile Beau makes no secret of his own feelings. Time and time again this couple gets shoved together as Grams has a few “mishaps” at Seaside Oasis. A deal comes into play, which has Gemma helping Beau and Beau letting Grams continue to stay at the Palmer’s Seaside Oasis. Over the duration of Gemma’s extended stay in Sunset Harbor, sparks start to fly between this dynamic couple and we’re all here for it!

Grams is an absolute hoot! With pink streaked hair and a propensity for getting into mischief, she keeps everyone on their toes. Is it any wonder that she’s BFFs with Deedee? They both have a thing for the young attractive males on the island and may or may not watch them from Deedee’s bedroom window 🤭 After a few debacles with Grams not being a fan of the “no alcohol” rule at Seaside Oasis, she seems to be right at home being the bad example to the other residents.

Top Moments:
🚨Grams picking up Gemma
🚨Gemma getting pulled over
🚨Xena
🚨spying from the window
🚨the bird feeder wars
🚨the citizen’s arrest
🚨the nicknames
🚨the red towel
🚨Rose
🚨”We want you here.”
🚨✨EPILOGUE✨

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

Folks, we’ve got another winner in the Falling for Summer series! This one features Gemma Sawyer and Beau Palmer, the island’s lone cop. We get the whole story from Gemma’s perspective.

The Sawyers and Palmers have had bad blood for decades. Gemma comes back to Sunset Harbor to help get Grams’ settled into a retirement center (owned by none other than the Palmers themselves) and get her house on the market. Grams is a troublemaker though and Gemma ends up bargaining with Beau Palmer to put in a good word with his dad so that Grams doesn’t get kicked out of thr retirement home. In exchange for pulling his sway, Gemma agrees to help Beau with some PR stuff. The more time they spend together, the more Gemma begins to realizes she might not hate all Palmers as much as she thought…

Some random thoughts:
-I am cackling at Gemma’s list of what Beau has going for him 😂
-their first kiss 🔥
-the island tours at the beginning and end of the book!

Favorite Quotes:
👮‍♂️"So, what does a speeding ticket run these days on Sunset Harbor? Or is this a pay-off-the-Palmer-family situation?"
One of his brows quirks, along with the edge of his mouth. "Are you trying to bribe me, Gemma Sawyer?" "Are you bribable?"

😈 Does he really not understand why I dislike Sunset Harbor? It's like Satan not understanding why everyone dislikes hell.
A very smiley, attractive Satan, which is the most dangerous Satan of all.

😏 This man has far too much charisma for his own good. Or any of our goods, really. He's essentially a public nuisance.

😍 Beau tucks a hair behind my ear, his brown eyes looking into mine with a warmth that makes me wonder if my brain is still concocting fake scenarios of us. "I'm not sure if she's mine, but I'm definitely hers.”

👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨This is new and forbidden territory for me. His lips are across enemy lines, and the way he uses them makes me wonder if I've been fighting on the wrong side this whole time.

💋 Kissing Beau one night is one thing. It could be considered a mistake, a fit of madness. It's an error in judgment that could be fairly easily combatted with a good PR campaign. Kissing him two nights in a row? That's the start of a habit. But my, what a habit.

🪣 Have you ever seen a man in a well-tailored suit driving a boat? It's a bucket list item, and my bucket truly runneth o'er.

Oh my goodness! I just finished the audio of Martha Keyes “Summer Tease” and loved it! It may be my favorite Falling for Summer book. 😍 but then I feel I say that for each book I read in the series. They’re all just SO.GOOD!
🌊
Beau’s job is police, or tease, Sunset Harbor or Gemma. He is a part-time police officer- the ONLY police officer- and Gemma reluctantly agrees to help him with some PR work. The enemies to lovers trope is strong and satisfying. Gemma and Beau’s families have feuded for decades. Gemma is happy to keep it up because of past hurt. Beau is ready to move on. Some Romeo and Juliet vibes but with a different ending 😉
🌊
Great side characters, seeing Gemma’s growth and kindness come out of hiding, and Grams 🎉
🌊
The audiobook released this week and I didn’t want to put it down! This is a single POV, I noticed the others I’ve read have been dual. I do love Beau, seeing his POV would’ve been fun but not needed as much. Because his job is Sunset Harbor, Gemma, tease or police. Almost in that order 😉
🌊

Beau is such a fun book boyfriend! He's sweet, charming and endearing! Beau is attracted to Gemma from the moment he pulls her rickety golf cart over. I didn't really understand why though. Honestly, she put a bad taste in my mouth at first. Her and grams both have a terrible attitude. I guess it was just hard for me to understand the depth of their hurt feelings. It felt petty and immature. Gemma on the other hand is not interested in the cute police officer. She does not warm up to him quickly but she does find his sweet little dog charming. This book is full of adventure and sweet romance. This series is so much fun. Each book uses crossover characters and events! OVerall rating is 4 1/2 stars.

This book is a charming small-island romance with a great mix of humour, family feud, and a simmering slow-burn between the two main protagonists. The tension between the main characters, particularly the love-hate relationship between Beau Palmer, the charming local cop, and the Gemma, adds plenty of entertaining moments. Grams, with her mischievous antics, absolutely steals the show, injecting a lot of fun and chaos into the story.

While I really enjoyed the chemistry between Beau and Gemma, as well as the unexpected twists that kept things interesting, the pacing felt a little slow at times. This is a feel-good romance and I enjoyed it.

I cannot say enough good things about this series. Each author gave their unique story but they all tied together so wonderfully. They are adorable romances and each one is so special and cute in its own way. I love the small town island charm and how people seems to find different versions of themselves throughout these stories. So very well done- I’d recommend them as stand alones or a series to anyone! Perfect summer reads!

I get that this was just me at to be summery and fun and it definitely had its moments. Overall though, I felt like the FMC was immature and whiny, the grandma was kind of annoying and the family drama just didn’t keep my attention. I love Martha Keyes, but I didn’t love this one.

Summer Tease is the fourth book in the Falling for Summer series. This is a multi-author series with interconnected characters all taking place on Sunset Harbor and can all be enjoyed as standalones. That said, having read the first four in order, I'm really enjoying getting a peek at events that I recognize from previous books through a different POV. I find that it's making me appreciate the series as a whole all that much more.

Oh my goodness, I absolutely adored everything about this book. From their first time seeing one another again to that wonderful epilogue, I absolutely could not get enough of Gemma and Beau. Gemma's has a rocky relationship with the island, and especially with Beau's family due to a long-time family feud. As such, this definitely had some great Romeo and Juliet type vibes--- but you know, without the tragic ending! The chemistry between these two was undeniable and truly, how could someone not fall in love with Beau, regardless of the family history!? The story also had great small-town vibes--- very Gilmore Girls meets island life... in the absolute best ways possible. Let's be honest though, the real star of this book was Grams! She is so full of sass and mischief, and I found myself looking forward to seeing what kind of shenanigans she would be up to next! We've gotten to see her character a bit in the previous books too, but I very much loved getting to see her in all of her glory in this one! There is so much to love in this story, and I absolutely did just that!

Summer Tease is a closed-door romance with kisses only.

This was a fun read, although there were times I wanted to shake Gemma and tell her to grow up. Gemma and Bo’s family have butted heads for years. So Gemma automatically has a dislike for any Palmer. And that’s a hard thing to do because Bo is just the most likable guy. A bit of a big goofball, but also really sweet.

There are some absolutely hilarious moments as these two deal with each other and try to work out their own personal issues and plans.

I have to add that Jim’s grandmother was one of the best parts of this book. She is crotchety and sassy and hilarious.

'I wait a second, then step toward him and stick out my hand. He grins and takes it. I'm officially selling my soul to the devil. For Grams.'

This book is a Capulets vs the Montagues type story (but with a WAY better ending). The two main character's families have feuded for more than a decade, but when Gemma needs a favor from Beau lines start to cross and blur.

This is an enemies-to-more romance with some blessed forced proximity...and no one does enemies-to-more better than Martha Keyes! You can bet on reading some entertaining and laugh-out-loud banter:

"I don't actually know much about what you do. Maybe you spend your part-time hours on the job eating donuts and using your radar gun to track the speed of tortoises and squirrels."
"Target practice with my squirt gun takes the bulk of my time, but go on."

...and the internal dialogue is golden...

'Have you ever seen a man in a well tailored suit driving a boat? It's a bucket list item, and my bucket truly runneth o'er.'

I mean, come on... prepare to laugh as these two work through old hurts, disappointments, goals for the future and a romance worthy of Sunset Harbor!!

This is book 4 in the Falling for Summer series that can be read as a stand alone, but I'm telling you...as a reader who has read 4 of the 4...you should be reading this entire series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Content: mention of a town member being charge with public indecency (off page), feuding families, romance-kisses only.

I don’t know what it was about this book, but after pushing through the first few chapters, I got really invested in the story and couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed seeing Beau finally have his story (he’s in so many of the other books in this series) and I really loved Gemma. The romance was great and the setting, plot, and characters were really enjoyable!

Martha Keyes is one of my go-to authors for when I want something sweet, easy to read, and feel good. Summer Tease is part of a series with other authors that I haven’t read yet, but it works as a stand alone and the hints of other storylines throughout the book made me interested in reading the whole series. I liked the idea of a longstanding family feud coming between the two main characters, as well as the fact that Gemma’s distaste for the island also made their romance difficult. There wasn’t a lot of tension in this book, but it had enough “problems” for the couple to solve that it wasn’t boring and had me interested throughout. The narrator did a good job changing voices for characters without being cheesy and this was a good audiobook option. Overall it was a fun summer read!

“It’s no use arguing with this man. In the words of Mrs. Bennet from Pride & Prejudice, he delights in vexing me. The world hath never seen a tease like unto Beau Palmer.”

You know what will stay with me the most about this book? Beau’s smile. I can picture it perfectly because it was a constant fixture in this story and I loved it! Let me tell you, Beau is amazing! He is top notch book boyfriend material and I honestly don’t know how Gemma resists him for so long. It was fun to watch Gemma change her mind about him.

This book is told from Gemma’s point of view and she starts out disliking Sunset Harbor. After spending three other books reading about this charming island, it felt like a stab to my heart. I LOVE Sunset Harbor and wish it was a real place I could visit. But don’t worry, Beau helps Gemma see the light and realize how amazing the island is.

Summer Tease is full of some really swoony, romantic scenes. What is it about being in water that makes a moment even more romantic? I don’t know, but Martha sure knows how to write them!

I loved to travel around with Beau and Gemma while Beau was on duty and doing all sorts of police work on their low-crime island. If I was going to get pulled over (in a car or a golf cart) I would hope it would be Beau Palmer writing me a ticket with his big, kind smile.

The ending was really cute and I appreciated how the conflicts panned out. There are some really interesting politics that were involved on the island and they were done really well and realistically.

My only wish is that we could have had Beau’s point of view and seen what he saw in Gemma. Also, perhaps a little bit less of Gemma’s crazy Grams. She’s a feisty one and I got a bit sick of her shenanigans. But overall this was a solid and really fun read.
