In " The Accidental Matchmakers," by Skye Grace, the stage is set for a heartwarming tale of unexpected connections, budding romances, and found family.
Meet Jack Kennedy, the charismatic golden boy of Auburn Heights High’s theater department. With a talent for singing, dancing, and acting, and a dad who happens to be the school’s musical director, Jack is adored by everyone in the artsy circles of his school. Despite his popularity, Jack struggles with his own feelings, yearning for a love like Romeo and Juliet's, with a happier outcome, of course. His best friend Oliver is head over heels for him, but Jack feels guilty knowing that his heart lies elsewhere. He just hasn’t found her yet.
Enter Emma Woods, a shy newcomer with a hidden past. Emma sees herself as too broken to open her heart again, so she conceals her pain with hiding behind her airpods and oversized hoodies. But her love for theater wins and against all odds, she auditions for the spring musical, revealing a remarkable voice and undeniable chemistry with Jack.
As Jack falls first for Emma, she tries to stay just friends so no one gets hurt. When Emma's bachelor dad Dylan crosses paths with Jack's widowed father Cam, sparks fly between the two men. But knowing the school principal won’t approve of their relationship, they must navigate the challenges of keeping their relationship a secret while finding a different path to love and acceptance.
Will Emma break free from her comfort zone and let Jack in? Can Cam and Dylan overcome the obstacles to find happiness together? In "Lovefools," discover the power of love, friendship, and the potential for a perfect found family through life's unexpected twists and turns.
Being a millennial it’s refreshing to read a young adult (YA) romance novel. Although I’m not the target audience for these books *laughs*. Reading these brings back the memories which we had in our school days that first crush, romance and everything else that feels like butterflies in the stomach. This book has everything which an interesting YA consists of high school drama, friendships, romance etc. the story is about Jack and Emma who are poles apart but destined to have a forever kinda love. I recommend this book to all who like to be mushy in love.
Lovefools: The Accidental Matchmakers" tells the story of Jack Kennedy, a popular theater student longing for true love, and Emma Woods, a shy newcomer with a troubled past who unexpectedly finds herself drawn to theater and to Jack. As their romance blossoms, they navigate their feelings alongside the budding relationship between Jack's widowed father, Cam, and Emma's bachelor dad, Dylan. Despite the challenges they face, the characters discover the power of love, friendship, and the potential for a perfect found family amidst life's unexpected twists and turns.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This was a cute young adult story. The characters were lovable and sweet, but I feel the story was a bit rushed. The main characters did not gradually fall for each other, it was just bam everyone’s suddenly in love. I felt it could’ve have been built up a little more. I also feel 2 teenagers would not be so accepting of a parent falling in love with their partners parent. All in all I think this is a cute romantic comedy that I would recommend to someone needing something a bit more lighthearted.

This book was so cute!! It was such a fast read, it only took me a couple sittings to finish. I haven’t read very many books with acting romances but i will definitely be reading more in the future. I give this a solid 4 ⭐️. Thanks booksirens for giving me an advanced review copy to read for free!
If you are the kind of person who loves cute highschool romances then Lovefools- accidental matchmakers by Skye Grace is one you should definitely read. They way the book is narrated is amazing. We get to hear (technically read) the story through the pov of both our main leads Jack and Emma. Jack is the cute and sweet boy of the school who wants to nail the lead role in the upcoming drama. He has his school life set with a bunch of good friends and also has a good bond with the teachers. It so happens that his dad is the drama teacher who sets the plays and another English teacher is also friends with his dad Cam and Jack and his friends too. The drama circle in this high school is so enthusiastic and fun that I wanna be one of them. Then walks in Emma, our lead girl who is new to the town. She is already popular and has been doing plays and stuff. But she was always detached and felt that she didn't fit in anywhere. (Emma has issues with her parents who are divorced and has trust issues with her dad, has a therapist basically alot of issues which heal as the story progresses and is something I feel is good that it's addressed here). She walks in this drama group with a facade but eventually falls for our boy as hard as he does. For Jack it was love at first sight. And these two little lovebirds do actually as accidental matchmakers but it's cute. There is more than one love story though which I absolutely loved about this book. It was a sneak peak into their lives. This book is more than just a lovestory. Its about love in friendships. Love in a parent child relationship. The bond between Jack and Cam is so good. Such trusting friend circle. Its what everyone needs. They way the relationship between Emma and her father heals. This book tells you about loving yourself, accepting yourself and the people around you as they are, trusting yourself and others, trusting that people can change, having your own identity, doing what you love and giving your best, thoughtful thinking, being considerate about others, being open and having healthy communication and so many little things. All the young adults need to have learn about these things. I would recommend this book to young adults and teens. To me it was super fun and cute and delightful. While reading it i became one of them thanks to the author.Loved reading it!
Whoever says adults are too old to be reading YA should try reading this. This book has duel viewpoints and does an excellent job letting us get to know Emma, a girl who has sworn off dating after a traumatic experience in her past and Jack, the beloved theater boy whose father is the school's musical director. When the two come together, Emma may soon forget all about that promise she made to herself. I mean, who wouldn't fall for the pretty boy capable of playing Ren McCormack from Footloose?
On top of this adorable teen relationship we're watching unfold, enter the dads. Emma's dad Dylan is devilishly handsome and completely swoonworthy. Jack's dad, Cam, is this sweet lovable nerd that you can't help but fall head over heels for. And what happens? Dylan falls and Cam swoons and their chemistry is to die for. You will find yourself rooting for them just as much, if not more, than you are for the teens with stars in their eyes.
There are so many other characters to love in this book as well. From Oliver, the best friend whose been hopelessly in love with Jack for a long time to Sierra and Ari who will not hesitate to put someone in their place to Tabby who stands by Cam's side no matter what.
I was smiling through most of this book. This is the kind of story you can't help but like. It balanced teen themes and adult themes beautifully to keep every reader interested. It dealt with trauma and the fallout of it while showing you can still have your chance at a happy ending and it's worth letting people in even if others have disappointed you in the past. If you want an uplifting story that will make you believe in the good in people again then this is it! Highly recommend.
Opposites attract in Skye Grace's delightful YA novel, "Lovefools: The Accidental Matchmakers." Popular theatre star Jack and guarded newcomer Emma find their lives unexpectedly intertwined thanks to their fathers' blossoming relationship. Jack, charismatic but burdened by expectations, seeks a deeper connection. Emma, haunted by a past trauma, hides behind walls. As their fathers navigate love, Jack and Emma cautiously connect, revealing the vulnerability beneath their facades. The characters shine. Jack's charm masks a desire for authenticity. Emma's journey of healing resonates, showcasing her bravery in confronting her past. Their supportive friends add humour, while the dads' romance adds a layer of complexity. Grace's engaging writing captures the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence. Vivid descriptions transport you to the heart of the school and intimate spaces where friendships and secrets bloom. Some might find the plot predictable, and some secondary characters could be fleshed out further. However, "Lovefools" is more than just romance. It celebrates the power of friendship, embracing vulnerability, and finding love in unexpected places. This heartwarming tale reminds us that opening up can lead to beautiful connections, making it a perfect read for those seeking a light and uplifting story.

I really want to thank Sky Grace for bringing this absolutely not so perfect yet beautiful love story for the readers like me who have not given up on concepts of love & loyalty. The writer doesn't fail to please me with some adorable comedy scenes in combination with the peak of romance. Not just love, the loyalty shown in friendship of Jack and Oliver leaves the reader emotional till the end of the book. Another decent point from the book that grabs our attention is how every character, no matter big or small, has their own story and struggles they are trying to deal with. For example - Dylan,Cam, Sierra, Ari & Tabby are the great characters which help the story to tackle the emotional requirements of both teens & adults in an enduring manner.
