Ram One: True Crime Stories of Working Undercover and Breaking Down Doors on the SWAT Team

A Deadly Shot, Lives Saved, All in the Line of Duty
A SWAT cop’s street stories

From chasing down dangerous felons on the gang unit to meticulously executing undercover operations in narcotics, Paul Milone has seen crimes and criminals from a perspective most cops never do.

He infiltrated drug rings, purchased weapons from murderers, and even sold machine guns to cartel members, all while walking a tightrope between duty and danger. As an undercover cop, he looked like a criminal, played the role, and hid in plain sight as he targeted the bad guys.

But Milone’s story doesn’t stop there. He also spent sixteen years on the busiest SWAT team in the Midwest, where he participated in a high-stakes hostage rescue mission, provided security for presidential visits, held off angry crowds during riots, and served countless warrants—no-knock warrants where Milone, as Ram One, was tasked with getting the team in quickly. He busted down more than a thousand doors in his career.A poignant and unflinching look at the life of a police officer.A story of bravery and sacrifice, of adrenaline-pumping action and quiet moments of reflection.Street stories that are a tribute to the fallen heroes, two of his partners, who paid the ultimate price and a reminder of the unwavering dedication of those who continue to serve and protect. These are raw and unfiltered true crime stories of a decorated officer on the Omaha police force. You are welcome to ride along.

WOW! This book certainly gave me a new appreciation of police work. It was a great collection of stories about Paul Milone’s career. (I was fortunate to meet Paul after his retirement.) Each situation had its own set of challenges and emotions. Some brought humor, others fear, anger and sadness. It was crazy to think these things were and continue to take place here in our community. We often see the Midwest as less touched by crime. It is out there. These brave men and women are working diligently each day to keep us safe.

Must read

Anybody wanting to know days in the life of the unrecognized heroes in our communities, you have to read this book! Places Paul goes seem very real to me, working in a similar field of the "after arrest" I truly related to many of these words. I felt the passion and forever his traditions will carry on.. what an example "my brother" what a story. I hope there is more to come?

great book

Great book. Tells it like it is for police and provides great insight into an area of law enforcement that is often romanticized by Hollywood but that Hollywood never gets right.

Excellent, behind the scenes, real life excerpts of life as a SWAT member, undercover officer and more. The author is genuine and doesn’t hold back on portraying what happened as real as possible. A must-read!!

This was an inside look into what police work looks like when you’re committed and have a passion for it. Milone is much like the many police officers I have met who want to get the bad guys and protect the people of their city. This book has true grit, realistic emotions, and raw “footage” of the stories that shape a career in law enforcement, specifically those who are on SWAT and work undercover. My favorite part is how he interweaved the fact that your career can’t be your end-all, be-all. Faith and family has to be your foundation.
